The Jane Austen Book & Gun Club

Pride and Extreme Prejudice photo by Les Howard

I don't usually find firearms very amusing, but you have to love this. Plus, I'm reading Sense and Sensibility right now. Perhaps there's something about these Penguin hardcover classics that makes one yearn for large-caliber weapons? (Thanks, Sara E.!)

Reading in the bathtub

"Literacy on tap"?
The provenance of this bathtub made from books is unknown. But the idea behind it is top-notch!

Kendrick Perkins considered as an astrophysical being.

This is an excerpt from the recently edited Wikipedia page of Kendrick Perkins of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

By way of explanation, Blake Griffin of the L.A. Clippers had a mildly impressive dunk on Kendrick Perkins last night.

This has led to a reassessment of Perkins as a metaphysical phenomenon.

Gibson Girls vs. Gilmore Girls

Illustrator Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944) made a name for himself drawing serene young women who were known as Gibson Girls.

These women are not to be confused with the slightly less serene  Gilmore Girls .

Weakest Book Disclaimer Ever?

Scott French's 1990 book is titled High-Tech Harassment: How to Get Even with Anyone Anytime.

As someone who's written a few disclaimers in my time, what I especially love is the book's jacket copy:

See that? Although this is the ultimate revenge book and it's designed to push anybody over the edge, remember: This is for "information purposes only." Don't actually USE any of this stuff, okay? (Via.)
