General December Update

Greetings, folks! This post will contain a general reminder of what’s coming up, how you can reach me, what’s going on at Patreon, and so on.

Presented in no particular order:

Kickstarter

Boxes will start going out again in a wave next week. This week is dedicated to turning my table into a mountain of books, establishing piles for who gets what book, and overall prepping for dooooooom.

Boxes will be arriving over the holiday season, so do be on the prowl. I will be going in “smalles...

Resolution for Kobo Issues

If you did not go the refund and purchase route, your book should be fixed with Kobo now. If it is not, get in chat with Kobo customer service so they can push through the correct file, but removing it from the device and redownloading it should provide the corrected file at this stage.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. I will be doing envelopes with little presents for those who filled out the form next week over the holiday as time allows. (I Have to check to see what stickers,...

Disclaimer Re: A Light in the Dark by Audrey Greene. (No, nobody named Gina was at all involved with the process of writing and designing this book.)

I am not sure what I did to offend the universe this week, but it’s relentless. There are now reviews (on Amazon) claiming some individual named Gina is the person behind Audrey Greene’s A Light in the Dark (I’m assuming the print edition, which did already release.) This is absolutely false.

Audrey Greene is a pen name of R.J. Blain. Rebecca Frank (Bewitching Book Covers) is the graphic designer. Small interior images are licensed from depositphotos and were not designed by anyone named Gina...

First batch of Bookfunnel Copies (for Kobo readers) has been queued (Will be sent soon)

I will put together envelopes for everyone after Kobo gets this fixed.

Once again, my apologies! (Yes, I know it’s my fault, but I lived in Canada for 16 years, I MUST apologize repeatedly. It is now part of my DNA. I must say sorry. Sorry!!)

Princess would like you to know that she got a Litter Robot 4 for Christmas, and she really likes it.

Zazzle thinks we have brought Satan into the apartment, and she is Not Pleased with us.

The system I’m using in Bookfunnel is holding the book ...

Partner in Crime does NOT have a lower price.

Greetings,

There seems to be some confusion. A Light in the Dark is the book that released this morning at $6.99, and is about to be marked up to $7.99. Partner in Crime was always $7.99, and will remain at $7.99.

The problem with Kobo’s launch will not influence how much you are paying for the book.

Thank you for your understanding.

~R.J.

P.S.: Both titles are now available at the Patreon store for $7.99 for those who are interested.

Release Day for A Light in the Dark and Partner in Crime! (Important notice for Kobo users inside!)

I wish I could say I was having a happy book birthday today, but unfortunately, I’m not. Kobo deployed the book with the placeholder file (which is something they require thus resulting in an unmitigated disaster for those who purchased the book at this vendor.

I have delisted the book to prevent other readers from purchasing it, and I have uploaded a new version.

If you use Kobo and you purchased the book, please DO write to customer service asking for them to either a: refund you or b: g...

Kobo Problems with Partner in Crime. (Because why not?)

This will be a story in pictures. Because why not at this stage. (This launch is an exercise of what can go wrong will go wrong.)

Here is what Kobo’s product page shows:

This is what deployed to my Kobo:

The best part is, I had uploaded four different final versions of the book to Kobo to prevent just this from happening.

In good news, A Light in the Dark seemed to deploy correctly, so that’s something.

This was completely outside of my control (as the placeholder file (wh...

Editorial Perils: Partner in Crime

The preorder version of Partner in Crime will very probably have a character name mishap. It has been fixed and will be uploaded on release morning as soon as the book unlocks. In the meantime, be aware that the error exists, and that it will be corrected. I am going to attempt to correct the print edition as soon as it unlocks, but you might end up with a misprint if you buy it early. If you do, just use my contact form and plop your mailing address in it along with the typoed character name an...

Fun & Games with Books!

This post is going to talk, a little, about Partner in Crime and a few things that readers are inevitably going to go “HAHAHAH caught the author!”

(That game is stupid, by the way. Writing a book is VERY hard. Unless you can write the perfect book, perhaps do not participate in that game. All you do is make authors you claim you like leave the industry. Nobody wins.)

So, this toes, a tiny amount, into spoiler territory. I will not tell you the significance of the clue I am about to suggest...
