Biography: Donna Massa-Chappee, Artist/Illustrator/Author

As a child I was born into the world of art. I came from a family of diverse artists. At age five I began my young journey taking classes at the Boston Ballet in Boston, MA. USA. I was trained as a classical dancer using the Balanchine method of dance and I loved performing. I danced for ten years but at the tender age of fifteen I made the difficult choice to make fine art my calling. At the age of seventeen I decided to attend art school. I graduated with a BA from Montserrat College of Art and majored in graphic design and illustration. After graduation, I worked full time for the prestigious House of Bianchi Inc. a family owned business. They were well known manufacturers in the w

“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey

“Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on. On many an occasion when I am dancing, I have felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists.

I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become thevictor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing then it is the eternal
dance or creation. The creator and creation merge into one wholeness of joy. I keep on dancing...and dancing...and dancing. Until there is only...the dance.”
Michael Jackson

This review is from: The Untold Stories Behind the "Michael Jackson Series" (Paperback)

When I read the book The Untold Stories-behind the Michael Jackson series for the first time I learned many different things about Michael that I did not know. I learned what his star sign was and what he wanted to give to his fans. One part of the book that I particularly enjoyed and what stood out to me was the story about the dream that the author's friend had about Michael. I felt very uplifted when I heard about that because I would love to have that happen to me. I thought that it was very cool to see someone with a direct connection with Michael. I thought that was a very special part of the book and my favorite next to the illustrations. The author near the beginning of the book seems to have a connection with Michael which I also think is very cool. While reading these parts I got to see how Michael directly touched the author and that she was aware of his presence in her life. One of my favorite illustrations was the peter pan scene because I know that this character was important to Michael. When I read closely, I could see that there were many symbols within it which I found interesting. I loved the vibrant colors and the idea of peter pan and tinker bell because I love them both. Another illustration I loved was the clown because I believe it shows a lot about Michael's personality because clowns are happy and playful. I loved the caption by the illustration of the clown, it described the artwork very well. I loved to learn about the illustration and another one that I loved reading about was the one where MJ was a scarecrow. I thought this part of the book was cool because it was accurate toward his life because he was one in the Wiz. I loved the coincidence of the sunflowers being MJs favorite. I loved hearing about the connection the artwork had on the author and what it had to do with Michael. Yet another thing I loved reading about in the book was about his children and how they were the crystal children. For a while I knew his children to be normal people but it wasn't until I read the book. I learned about their birth sings and what that meant to them and I read about each one. I knew the importance children played in MJs life and the author addressed that in the book which was a cool connection. There were the crystal children and the new age children and it depended on when they were born which one they were. I learned about the new age children and that they are the ones that come after the crystal children. I thought this part was cool and I liked it. This part of the book brought me to an enchanting illustration that had a unicorn and a Pegasus in it. I believe this was about the new age rainbows which were children and I loved the rainbow in it and all the people. I also learned about these children and what good they were going to do for the world in healing it. The last part of the book was called Heal the World which I knew was a song. I thought the author was creative in leaving some parts of the illustrations that were black and white and some in color. She pointed out the hazardous plants in the picture. I also saw MJs children in it but they were much older and they looked good. MJ was with them which was cool. I thought this part of the book was interesting. The author went over their sings again which I thought was cool and she brought up the fact that they were going to heal the world as he had done. Within the book the author brings up whatever happens which is a song off of Invincible. I wondered if that is her favorite song and it inspired her to make an illustration about it of her friend and future husband. Michael danced with her friend. There is much more to discover within the book itself and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Michael and great artwork.
