I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

I felt the same way as you a few years ago. I decided that I wouldn't let rejection stand in my way because I would write the very best book I could, paying for editing and cover design and then self-publish it. I then built a readership which attracted the interest of a publisher. I suggest you take a break from social media (or wherever you are getting your information about the publishing industry) and focus on you and your writing. Lots of people want to be writers, but relatively few actually finish a novel. Forget the competition for now, just concentrate on writing from the heart. Good luck!(less)
