Banshee Haunting, Smashwords Edition!
Hello everyone,
Just as an update, I wanted to post that Banshee Haunting is also available on Smashwords.com as well. The nice thing about Smashwords.com is the fact that they have more than one format that you can download the story as once you buy it. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to letting you know when I have more stories released!
The link for the Smashwords.com edition can be found here: Banshee Haunting

New Story Available!
Hello everyone!!!
I know it's been quite a while since I posted anything on here. I've been busy with real life and editing a backlog of stories so I can try to get some of these babies out the door and into the hands of publishers and eventually readers.
I finally have another story published! I decided to give Amazon.com's self published feature a try. So please stop by and check out my story: Banshee Haunting

2012 Reading Challenge
Since I routinely read 75 - 125 books a year without trying to hard I thought it might be fun to try something a bit more challenging. This coming year I will be trying to complete a specific challenge. I will be reading at least 20 Young Adult novels. Now normally I read a wide range of stories and don't pay much attention to what genre they are, but this will force me to pay a bit of attention to what genre I'm reading and could be interesting to delve into a whole new section of my local library that I normally don't spend much time in.
I'm going to be joining in this contest: The Eclectic Bookshelf: 2012 Young Adult Reading Challenge
Here are the rules for this challenge:
Run's January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2012.
The Rules:
Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate.Non-Bloggers: Post your list of books in the comment section of the wrap-up post on Jamie's blog.Audio, eBooks, paper, re-reads all count. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed. There are four levels:
The Mini YA Reading Challenge – Read 12 Young Adult novels. The "Fun Size" YA Reading Challenge – Read 20 Young Adult novels. The Jumbo Size YA Reading Challenge – Read 40 Young Adult novels. The Mega size YA Reading Challenge – Read 50+ Young Adult novels.I will be doing the fun sized challenge, but may upgrade to the Jumbo one depending on how many YA books I can get my hands on.
I encourage all my fellow readers and writers to join in as well. I will try to keep a list of what books I've read on here, but I will definitely have all my books listed on my page on GoodReads.com: Goodreads | Jennifer (GiannaRobbins) (640 books)
Leave me a comment if you're interseted in doing this as well or if you have a different reading or writing challenge that you're going to be doing this coming year.

Science fiction Story: Blood Star
I'm doing NaNoWriMo again this year and I've decided to try to write two stories instead of one this year. The first one is a Science fiction story called
Blood Star
. I'm going to use this entry to help me layout what the story will be about using a method a friend is teaching me.
One sentence: Mira, a merchant and collector of rarities, never imagined that acquiring the elusive blood jewels would send her on a wild run for her life and lead her to an alien world that just might be the home she's always yearned for, a world she may have to die for.

Snippet
I unfortunately forgot to post a snippet last week. Things got a little crazy and I didn't post the snippet, so here you go:
Snippet:
"I only know of three places within driving distance of here that have magic free zones. Safe houses we called them."
She tilted her head to once to one side and then the other, reminding him very much of a curious puppy or a bird present with something shiny. Her lips curled into a hungry smile as she leaned forward and braced her arms against the tabletop. Bran found himself mimicking her actions, leaning forward and smiling as well.
"Do you happen to remember how to get to those places? Would any of them happen to be near water or small dark places?"
He pondered that for a moment, of the three only two might fit those descriptions, but he shook his head and frowned.
"If they have one then surely they would not need the other two as well. As you said it could be almost anywhere."
She was already shaking her head as he finished his sentence. She glanced around again, using only her eyes so as not to give herself away.

CampNaNo update and Friday Snippet
Camp NaNoWriMo started Monday and so far all seems to be going well. I've managed to stay on track and even a little ahead of the game.
The project I have started is Raven's Tale. Yes, it's a working title, perhaps later I will have a contest to help give it a proper title.
And here is your Friday snippet:
"Where would the wolves have taken her, where can a Dragon or Wyrvling not go?"
It was a fair question, but that didn't make it any easier to admit he had no answer to it. Instead, he slammed his fist into the table, which complained with a groan.
"Stop that Bran, we can't afford to have you break all the furniture in this room before we've even slept a night here."
That was a lie of course, but she was right in one regard. He could not afford the questions or attention such a thing would draw. Pacing across the room he felt his hands and arms begin to shift, not into full wings, but the ghost of wings formed along them.
"Easy darling, the windows are still open."
Again she was right, and again he felt the need to slam into something. This anger, it was blinding him, and he couldn't quite bring himself to give a damn. He'd walked into a trap, worse he'd led Morrigan into it with him. Hanging his head, shame washed over him briefly as he recalled the moment they'd stepped into Arthur's rooms. There had been no coercion, no traps, no snares. The Dragon had been too clever for all that instead. He'd used the best trap there was, Bran's past mistakes. He'd let the beasty best him with something he had all but given them.
"You had no control over who scraped your blood off that rock."
He turned to face her and snarled. His hands clenched to fists at his sides, nails cutting into the calloused skin on his palms.
"I was so blinded in my grief and so greedy to have my daughter back that I did not even once stop to think of the consequences. I was not a newly turned Shifter, Morrigan. I had been what I am for nearly three hundred years. I knew the precautions I must take. I knew the consequences that would happen if I let my type be seen or worse a piece of me captured. I have NO excuse."
His voice was dull roar by the end, Morrigan had taken several steps back and looked to be on the verge of tears, or worse yet yelling back. Instead, she stared at him as she took several deep breaths then stepped away and counted to ten.
"I am going to go get dressed for dinner. When I return, you will be calm and ready to go down to the dining room."
I hope you enjoyed the snippet. Please leave me comments letting me know what you think of this new darling of mine.

Snippet Friday
Each Friday I will post snippets of one o
f the pieces that I am writing on. So here is this weeks snippet:
It had been a long year; a very long year Kai amended. With a sigh and one final look at the now snow covered garden of his mother’s house, he locked the front door and stomped his way to his waiting car.
Kai hadn’t meant for it to all end like this of course, he had hoped his mother would at least live long enough to see one last solstice, or better yet one last new year. It wasn't to be though; instead he would be burying her exactly one week before the solstice and exactly one month after his failure to keep the dragon at bay. He ground his teeth as he growled and moved his car along the ill-lit, slick, icy streets.
