I'm With You Kid

Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told, "I'm with you kid, let's go!" ~ Maya Angelou
If you've been on your dream journey for a while and achieved some of your goals, I think you might understand what this quote is saying. I am in the midst of revising a third manuscript and trying to keep two published novels on the tops of readers minds.
I just had the busiest of month ever of promotions. I participated in a Valentine's Day blog hop, wrote three guest posts, and had three giveaways. It has been one of those months where every day I worked on my revisions. I didn't always get everything done, but then I reworked my plan. And after two days of working, I seem to be finding a balance between being productive, moving forward on edits, and all the social media interaction and promotion scheduling I need to do.
I'm busy, but it's a fun busy right now.
Do you like to work in a busy fashion?

The Most Dangerous Thing

The most dangerous thing in the world is to try to leap a chasm in two jumps ~ David Lloyd George
How are your goals for 2014 going? I hope they are going well. Mine have been under constant revision. When I completed the first drafts of both A Place to Call Their Own and Disappear With Me, I was at a stand still as far as the editing was concerned.
First of all, it's hard for me to edit my own work. I know what it's supposed to say most of the time. I can't help it if my fingers don't type exactly what I meant or I was the victim of auto-correct in a typing session. But now, I have a new revision strategy that I employ.
I am retyping the entire ms from beginning to end. That helps me re-read the manuscript how it's written. It also helps me "hear" in my own head the awkward sentences. I amuse myself with the notes I wrote in the first draft to fix the second time around.
My challenge is wanting to do too much! I still work a full time job and promotion seems to be a full time job. So I have to adjust my boundaries and make sure I am taking time for me as well. But I think I finally got it figured out this week.
Have you had to readjust your boundaries or routines this year? I'd love to hear!

What'd You Say Your Name Was?

Every time we start thinking we're the center of the universe, the universe turns around and says with a slightly distracted air, "I'm sorry. What'd you say your name was again?" ~ Margaret Maron
Talk about a kick in the pants! Last week I finished the first draft for my third manuscript, The Higher Law. I really thought I had a handle on my writing and editing routines and tried to write a little bit on Sartin, my fourth manuscript, and work on polishing The Higher Law.
It proved to be too much! Add to that Valentine's Blog Hops and giveaways and other promotions coming later this month, and it's been a crazy week for me. I had to revise my plan to meet my goals this year. The crazy thing is, everything gets done earlier this year by focusing on one manuscript at a time.
So the point is you might always have to revise your routines. Even if you have big goals, you might be able to revise your plan to reach those goals if the other parts of your life demand more time.
How are your routines for 2014 going?

The Awe-Manac Misstake Day

Here's to silly mistakes that turn into creative discoveries ~ Jill Badonsky
I finished another first draft last week! Hooray! I can't believe it still feels like the first time I did that two years ago this time. But I'm getting better at being productive. I got back to a fourth manuscript (merman story) and I have been revising The Higher Law at the same time. It's crazy but it's fun.
And here's the mistake I made. I overbooked myself.
I went from few promotion activities in January to a million this month! I have done three guest blogs, and am in the middle of two giveaways that last this week (see the links below!). Talk about making mistakes, I booked not only my own blog hop with a giveaway, but a giveaway on a another site. Oh well, that's two chances for everyone to win Disappear With Me.
So feel free to make mistakes and don't forget to register to win one of two giveaways this week.
(And if you can't wait for the announcements, both novels are on sale for only $1.99 this week!)
When was the last time a mistake turned out good? I'd love to hear!
