The reviewer, Greg Barbrick, wrote: “Dare I Call It Murder? really hit home for me, as we just suffered a death in the family. My sister died in her sleep, and I guess because she was not wealthy, we are still waiting for an official cause ofdeath. . . . It is a t...

“Dare I Call It Murder?” Featured in ALLi News, Ranked in 5 Amazon Best-Seller Lists
The Alliance of Independent Authors featured my book in today’s news bulletin, noting that Dare I Call It Murder?: A Memoir of Violent Loss was “#2 on Amazon’s Hot New Releases list for Biographies & Memoirs and as high as #6 for Best Sellers in Author Biographies.”
However, that information is already out of date. As of this morning, just three weeks after Wigeon Publishing launched the book, it sits in the top 10 of five Amazon Best Seller lists. This includes both memoir and true crime, the...

Indie Book Sellers’ Whining Is BS
Publisher’s Weekly today ran this story: “Does President Obama Hate Indie Bookstores?”
This is one perspective on the Amazon phenomenon. I have another—if the shoe fits, wear it.
I see a great irony in the fact that this story ran online and most likely will never be in a print publication sold in bookstores.
While I do bemoan the troubles of indie bookstores—I have house (and garage) filled with books, the majority of them bought at indie bookstores—the fact is these stores need to acknowledge...

Oh, the Irony: Ann Rule Sues Seattle Newspaper
Oh, the irony. I love it.
Ann Rule sues the Seattle Weekly over perceived errors in a story published about her. While I may ultimately have to side with her on this specific instance, it does not excuse what she did to my family.
In 2009, Ann Rule blindsided us with her inaccurate account of the deaths of my parents—Loren and Jody Edwards of Kirkland, Washington—and when I called her on it, she just made lame excuses. She never attempted to contact me, before the book came out or after I filed...
