The Art of Hero Worship by Mia Kerick

Art of Hero Worship Blitz Banner

Greetings, all!

I’m thrilled today to host a release day blitz for Mia Kerick’s new novel, The Art of Hero Worship!

Check out the blurb, author bio, excerpt, and giveaway below!

TAOHW Front Cover

Blurb:

Trembling on the floor, pressed beneath a row of seats in a dark theater, college freshman Jason Tripp listens to the terrifying sound of gunshots, as an unknown shooter moves methodically through the theater, randomly murdering men, women, and children attending a student performance of Hamlet. Junior Liam Norcross drapes his massive body on top of Jason, sheltering the younger man from the deathly hail of bullets, risking his life willingly and maybe even eagerly.

As a result of the shared horror, an extraordinary bond forms between the two young men, which causes discomfort for family and friends, as well as for Jason and Liam, themselves. And added to the challenge of two previously “straight” men falling into a same-sex love, are the complications that arise from the abundance of secrets Liam holds with regard to a past family tragedy. The fledgling passion between the men seems bound to fade away into the darkness from which it emerged.

Jason, however, is inexplicably called to rescue his hero in return, by delving into Liam’s shady past and uncovering the mystery that compels the older man to act as the college town’s selfless savior.

The Art of Hero Worship takes the reader on a voyage from the dark and chilling chaos that accompanies a mass shooting to the thrill of an unexpected and sensual romance.

Author Bio:

1newadult-1Mia Kerick Adult is an award-winning author of stories involving the type of life events that are riveting to read about, but you probably wouldn’t want to experience first hand. Into her fictional disasters, she sprinkles a sufficient quantity of touching and spicy adult LGBTQ romance to keep her readers coming back for more.

Having relocated from Boston, Massachusetts to rural New Hampshire, Mia lives with her doting husband, four brilliant and accomplished young adult children who will one day likely contribute to the establishment of world peace (Mia believes in self-fulfilling prophecies), and at least three too many cats. She suffers with a severe case of mall-withdrawal, which leads to frequent online shopping and an overly personal relationship with the UPS driver.

Excerpt:

I wake up crying.

Okay… if I’m going to be real, I’ll admit that I’m sobbing. In these strong arms—no, sprawled on top of the solid chest of a man I hardly know—I sob in a way that I never have before. And hopefully, I’ll never have occasion to cry this bitterly again.

My emotions are practically indescribable, yet I need to apply words to them, in an effort to make some sense of what I’m feeling. The pain is raw, grating, and unbearable… and unfortunately there’s more. I’m guilt-ridden and mortified. Devastation crossed with desperation—this is me, at the moment.

And I’m not sure why I’m still here on earth. I want to disappear.

Liam stays silent, but I know he’s awake because his hands have resumed the rhythmic stroking on my back.

“Why’d you have to go and s-save me? Y-you should have let me d-die like I was supposed to!” I’m furious, which is evident in my trembling accusation. The pain would be over if he’d have let me die. I add mad as hell to my list of indescribable emotions. And highly irrational… I tack this one onto the end of the fast growing list.

He inhales deeply. “We’re gonna survive this. Our bodies survived Friday night in the theater. Now we’ve gotta make our minds survive the aftermath.”

“What makes you think I want to survive it? What makes you so sure I didn’t want to go with her?” It’s too hard to say her name.

Wide palms freeze on my shoulder blades and rest there heavily. “Sorry, dude, but it wasn’t your day to die.” He takes another one of those huge swallows of air that causes both of our bodies to rise and fall. Then the mesmerizing movement of his hands resumes.

Giveaway:

$15 Amazon or Barnes & Noble Gift Card and one ebook of your choice from Mia’s backlist (Kindle only).

Writers and Self-Doubt — Sex For Money Post #15

Sex For Money is a semi-regular blog series about my experiences in writing, publishing, and marketing gay erotica and M/M erotic romance.  All of this information is from my own experience, so your experience may differ.  It’s hoped that sharing this information might be helpful to new and aspiring erotica and erotic romance authors, as I see a lot of questions and a lot of misinformation out there.  To read more Sex For Money posts, click here.

I have a general rule about negative emotions — I don’t share them publicly. As an author, I don’t feel it’s right for me to burden my followers on Twitter with depressive emotions or negative self-image. Twitter isn’t a counselling forum and, quite frankly, while I may sometimes feel those things, I would share them with friends. And while I might form relationships with people on Twitter, that doesn’t make them the kind of friend I would share my innermost feelings with.

I’ve seen a few authors send out a series of public tweets in the midst of a depression and it just doesn’t sit well with me. As an author, we are presenting professional platforms for people to connect with us. We are not reaching out to random strangers for help. If this was done on a personal Twitter account, then that would be more appropriate because it’s not a public persona that is potentially attracting thousands of followers.

But today, I’m going to break that rule.

Sort of.

I’m not in the midst of negative emotions right now — but I was last night. Now that I have distanced myself from what was going through my head last night, now that I’m back to my normal self and have my normal perspective back, I thought it would be good to share what was going on here on the blog. After all, a lot of you are writers, and this had to do with writing.

I’ve never been one of those mega erotica authors who rakes in six figures each month. For the most part, I was making coffee money. Slowly, it inched up so that it was a few fast food meals per month. Then all of a sudden in December 2015, my sales doubled, landing me in the triple digits for the first time ever. I was elated.

Then January 2016 came along and, holy fuck, I doubled what I made in December! And so far, right now in February, I’m on track to land between these two numbers. I’ll probably end up close to January’s sales, but not quite there.

So, all in all, things are going very well for me as a writer. Add on top of that, I’m planning to start a small publisher by the end of the year — I’m excited about it and it’s looking like it’ll actually become a reality and I’m so excited.

Yet, last night, I was crippled with self-doubt. I hid in bed, in the dark, for almost two hours.

I haven’t actually written much of anything since December. I think, somehow, the sudden increase in sales had me wondering if it was all some sort of fluke, and that my writing sales would come crashing down around me. Even though that doesn’t seem to be the case, it was still what was going through my head.

And then I began to wonder, well, fuck, who am I to publish other people’s books? I’m a self-published author with only three years of experience — what gives me the right to call myself a publisher? And then it circled around to my day job — I love the people I work with, but there are some background issues going on that are making my job somewhat unlikeable. And with today’s job market, it’s almost impossible to find a new job.

This led me into a downward spiral that landed me in bed in the dark. I questioned everything about who I am as a writer, as an entrepreneur with my upcoming publishing company, who I am in my day job, and more — and this only led to questioning who I am as a person.

I have no doubt that this is an identity crisis faced by many authors in the course of their careers.

That’s why I wanted to talk about it today. That’s why I broke my rule about negative emotions on my platform.

If you’re an author who is feeling that crippling self-doubt, please know that you are not alone. Others have been there before and others are there right now.

So how do we dig ourselves out of this? How do we get back on track?

The first thing is to remember that who you are as an author has no impact on who you are as a person. Those are entirely separate things. Your self-worth and self-identity should not be wrapped up in your writing successes and failures.

The second thing is to recognize your strengths and successes. Was it a one star review that brought this on? Well, then focus on the five star review you got the other day. Every reader’s opinion is different and you will always get one star reviews. Look at any mega-bestselling book and you’ll find a slew of one star reviews.

Tied into this, if you’re working on a project, is the “two stars and a wish” activity. It’s easy to see everything that’s wrong with a project, and I’ve been crippled by that before and I’ve seen it stall other writers that I admire and respect. There’s an educational self-assessment activity called “two stars and a wish”. If you’re working on a project, identify two things that you did well, and one thing that needs more work. (Notice — you don’t identify one thing you did wrong, you identify one thing that you can improve on.) This might be enough to change your perspective on your project.

The third is to make a to-do list to get yourself back on track. First, write out absolutely everything that you need to get done. Then take a new sheet of paper and draw four quadrants — “priority: must do right away,” “priority: must do soon,” “important: want to get done,” and “important but not urgent.” Once you have this, take a new sheet of paper and write an accomplishable to-do list that consists mostly of “do right away” items and a few “must do soon” items. Somewhere on that paper, write an additional list of a few other random things you need to get done — so if you need a distraction, you can do one of those things. (That’s why I’m writing this post right now!)

The fourth is to do some self-care. This might involve delicious tea, a shower or bath, cuddling up and watching a movie — anything that gets you feeling like your old self.

Those four steps should hopefully let you shed the self-doubt that’s hobbling your writing and progress. The important thing, though, is to never make decisions when you are in a depression like that. It would have been too easy to decide that I wanted to remove all my books from Amazon and say I’m done with writing, I’m done with trying to achieve this dream. Now that I’m on the other side of that dark mindset, I can see it for what it is. And, really, if an author doesn’t sometimes experience this, then they might not be taking writing as seriously as you or I. We want to make this dream come true, and to do that requires investing a lot of time and energy into it — and while doing that makes the dream all the more achievable, it also makes the road all the more rockier.

Question: What do you look for in a publisher?

Hi all,

I have some exciting news to share — I’m in the process of setting up an e-publishing company that specializes in M/M erotic romance and M/M erotica!

Yes, there are a lot of these companies already in existence, but I think this is a great time to enter the market. A number of small presses have closed down for one reason or another, but what it essentially comes down to, I believe, is that these companies (a) weren’t able to keep up with evolving trends and technology in e-publishing, and/or (b) set up their businesses in an unsustainable way, which led to financial difficulties, and/or (c) emphasized quantity over quality in acquiring books, leading to poorly-produced books.

My new publishing company, which is still without a finalized name, will operate on a profit-sharing model. This means that no one gets paid until the books sell — the editors and the company get a share of royalties, rather than being paid up-front. This means there is no financial overhead on a title and the risk is minimized. Author royalties would be set at 40%, which is competitive within the industry.

While I’m still a ways away from establishing the publishing company — though I hope to do it by the end of the year — I do have some questions for you.

If you’re an author: What do you look for in a publishing company? What would make you submit to one company versus another?

If you’re a reader: What draws you to a publishing company’s selection? (Or do you even notice a publisher when you purchase M/M books, and are rather focussed on the book itself?)

Blurb:

From coast to coast and city to country Brit boys enjoy playing with each other and their toys. Not any old toys, though; guitars, rope, plugs and Moleskine journals all prove to be enormous fun. Throw in a shop that’s wall to wall with kinky ideas, a journalist on the lookout for the next big thing, and Dominants who insist on obedience and there’s sure to be something to cater for everyone’s taste.

Whether it’s a quickie or a slow indulgence, Brit boys know how to hit the spot and they aim to please every time. So take a ride, fly high, come enjoy these sexy boys and their toys.

bbwt-box

Today the authors are answering this question… Can you tell us a little about the relationship your characters have in your story? What is it about them that made you want to bring them to life?

Ashe Barker

Jackson and Liam are strangers as the story opens, but the attraction between them is instant and powerful. Playful at first, their relationship soon becomes serious. Neither man is what he seems at first, and I loved revealing their real selves, the men beneath the helmets…!

M K Elliott

The relationship between Alex and Conner is one of power exchange. Conner believes he is the one with all the power, because he’s the one tying Alex up, but actually Alex is the one controlling the relationship.

Lucy Felthouse

Aaron and Blake are an established couple in a long-term relationship. They live together, and also work together at a hospital. Aaron is a porter, and Blake is a doctor. This means they often don’t see each properly for days due to their shifts at the hospital, but they both love their jobs, so it’s worth it. It also means they make the most of the time they do have together. They’re very much in love, and like to indulge in plenty of kink.

In terms of bringing them to life, I just really fancied writing about a doctor and a porter!

K D Grace

I’m a bit of a loner myself, and I thought it would be great fun to bring together two blokes who make their living writing for a webzine and basically live in their own little ‘man-cave’ sort of world. I wanted to see what would happen when two guys living in isolation most of the time are forced to spend two whole weeks together in an experience that’s full-on and sometimes right-out dangerous. I wanted to see how the experience would change them and if they would bond or if they would end up hating each other.

Lily Harlem

My characters have only just met. They both signed up to dating site ‘Gay Hook Ups’ and are perfectly matched with not just their personalities and looks but also their kinks. It doesn’t take long for them to discover this though Darius does have a few secrets about his ‘real’ life that take Rhodri a bit of time to adjust to.

Ashley Lister

They’re poets. And we don’t see enough writing about poets. Poets have these insane ideas of trying to describe parts of the world with words, and then they get very passionate about the minor details of those descriptions. To some extent it made it easy to write a romance about characters who are prone to bouts of passion. I think that, more than anything else, made me want to bring them to life.

Sarah Masters

Although I didn’t have a clue who my characters would be or what they did for a living, I did have a theme in mind, which was people hiding how they felt because it was “the done thing” and then discovering that by meeting the right person, their feelings came out after all.

Tabitha Rayne

My main character, Kel, is fraught with self-doubt and does not hold himself in high regard at all. He doesn’t feel desirable and this causes problems when the man of his dreams shows an interest. I love exploring the spiritual dynamics of our sense of self and how the way we see ourselves can destroy or elevate the way others see us. I think my gents have a complicated affair which is really all about self-love in the end.

Will & Patrick Fight Their Feelings

wake-up-married-banner-4.jpg

Check out this great new book by Leta Blake and Alice Griffiths — and be sure to enter the giveaway at the end of the post!

Blurb:

Follow Will & Patrick in this fourth installment of the romantic-comedy serial, Wake Up Married, by best-selling author Leta Blake and newcomer Alice Griffiths!

Will and Patrick have embraced adding hot sexy-times to their fake marriage, but as their emotions deepen, they confront whether or not they want to be more than friends-with-benefits. Freshly free of a restrictive relationship, Will’s not ready for more than exploratory fun. And no matter how Patrick feels about Will, his own difficult past has left him wary of love.

The heat is high (and occasionally kinky) in this episode of the Wake Up Married serial, but Will and Patrick struggle to accept their mutual affection, much less confess it. How long will they fight their feelings?

Episode 4 of 6 in the Wake Up Married serial.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00075]

Excerpt:

Wrung out after the long night, Patrick shovels in the eggs and toast he ordered from room service. His mind drifts lazily as he eats, but when he hears the shower turn off, his stomach churns. He hates that his brain can ruin a perfectly good moment with memories that make him twitchy.

“About last night…” Will’s voice cracks slightly.

Patrick’s heart stops.

“Maybe it shouldn’t happen again?”

A sharp, deep pain lances into Patrick and he can’t breathe. It’s so unexpected, this horrible feeling, and he can’t think of anything to say. But hope and lust surge together as Will shoves away from the door. He grabs Patrick so hard it hurts and kisses him until the world shifts under their feet.

Yep, it had happened again. Had it ever. God, their second night in a row of sex had been—

Patrick jerks back to the present as the bathroom door swings open and Will strides out fully dressed in a pair of trousers and a button-up shirt. The eggs churn faster in Patrick’s stomach.

Will sits at the breakfast table. He tests, calculates, and injects his insulin before starting on his cottage cheese on toast. He looks up, fixing Patrick with a resolute gaze.

Patrick dodges the look and pokes his eggs with his fork. “Do we have to talk about it?”

Will takes another bite and chews deliberately.

“Because I don’t want to talk about it.” Patrick’s much more interested in a “don’t think, just do” policy when it comes to sex with Will. He’ll take that over revisiting the surprising pain of Will’s near-rejection the night before.

Will’s brows draw low and he chews for a long, tense moment. Patrick’s heart lurches like a skipping record until Will speaks. “Really? So you think there’s nothing to talk about?”

“Nope.” Patrick’s fork scrapes against his plate. “I don’t see why there would be.”

Will, of course, has other ideas. Like that’s anything new. “Patrick, we had sex again last night. Three times.”

“I know what we did, Will.”

“And?”

“And I liked it. And I don’t regret it.”

Will pulls his lower lip between his teeth. “You really liked it?”

“Puddin’-pop, you were there. Do you doubt you’re the best lay I’ve ever had?”

“The best?”

“Unequivocally.”

Will grins and eats some more of his cottage cheese on toast, joy rising up like the sun on his face. “You too. I mean, you’re the best I’ve had.”

Shocking. Patrick wants an award for not saying that out loud. He reaches out and takes hold of Will’s fingers. “I like being with you. I like what we’re doing and I don’t want to talk about it.”

Will pulls his hand away and scratches his ear uncertainly. “Why?”

“Because I don’t want us to stop.” He clenches his fist on the table and summons the strength to say, “Unless you want to stop?”

Will shakes his head and studies the food. After putting some eggs on his plate and compiling another cottage cheese and whole-wheat toast sandwich, he clears his throat and tentatively meets Patrick’s eye again. “So you think it’s okay if we—”

“Screw without professing our undying love first?”

Will flushes but nods.

“We’re having sex, not committing a crime. Of course it’s okay. Why make it into something it’s not?”

Will butters his toast and carefully doesn’t meet Patrick’s gaze again. This. This is why Patrick doesn’t want to talk about things. “What did I say wrong now?”

Will shrugs and takes a bite of toast. He finishes chewing and swallows. “What would we make it into that it’s not?”

That’s what I don’t want to talk about.”

“Because you think I’ll say we can’t have sex anymore if there’s no hope of us really falling in love and making a little family together?”

Patrick breaks into a fine sweat. “Won’t you?”

He has no idea what thoughts the tiny hamsters on the wheels in Will’s mind are cranking out, but he can imagine they’re racing overtime as Will gazes at him silently. He feels like he might puke.

Will’s mouth tilts up at the corner. “No.”

“What?” Patrick chokes on his toast and has to grab a swallow of water.

“No, I won’t say we have to stop. We’ll keep on…you know.”

“Having sex.”

Will’s eyes go hot with lust. “Yeah. We’ll keep having sex.”

“I knew you liked it.” He leans forward, smirking. “Now, tell me what you liked best. In detail.”

Will adjusts his napkin in his lap. “I thought you didn’t want to talk about it.”

“I didn’t want to talk about ‘Oh, woe, it was wrong, and I’m still hurting over Ryan, and we’re getting divorced as soon as possible,’ because I know all that.”

Will finishes off his cottage cheese sandwich. “I get it.”

“Tell me all the dirty stuff. I want to hear how much you loved it.”

Will’s smile is soft. “Oh, I loved it.”

Guest Post by RP Andrews, author of Buy Guys

Buy Guys Tour Banner

Today I’m thrilled to have author RP Andrews stop by on his blog tour to give us his annual new year’s predictions! Below that, you’ll find his book blurb, excerpt, and a giveaway!

My Annual New Year’s Predictions by RP Andrews

Two thousand and sixteen will mark my sixth year as the blogger of “Confessions of a Str8 Gay Man.” Some guys over the years have labelled the name of my blog pretentious or judgmental, but I chose it since I try to write for the millions of gay men mainstream America never sees, not the attention whores glorified in gay media but just ordinary people living ordinary lives. The absurdities of our often over-the-top lifestyles to relationships to the social and political implications of living in a microcosm within mainstream America are all fair game for my pontifications, and I am often counter-culture to our self-appointed overly politically correct gurus and tell it like I see it, whether you agree or not.

About this time every year, I come up with my gay predictions where I attempt to be my sardonic best. Here are my predictions for 2016:

Now that gay marriage is legal everywhere, manufacturers of wedding favors will go hog wild. Low end weddings can choose condoms and dental dams with the couple’s names and wedding date inscribed, while those with more bucks may go for synthetic diamond studded cock rings, PA’s, or nose rings and his and his or hers and hers personal vibrators – batteries not included.

And where there’s marriage, can divorce be far behind? Enterprising attorneys specializing in gay separations and break-ups will get smart, form a coalition, and host a website where you can learn about the divorce laws in your state and chat with a number of attorneys who’ll take on your case.

And if you both love Fido, they’ll be a cloning center so you can both have him – for $20,000.

The STD rate will drop dramatically as more and more guys get their kicks virtually rather than in the flesh.

They’ll be a new vetting phone app to weed out hook-up site game players. It’ll be called “Jezebel” after a 1930’s film starring Bette Davis as a hypocritical southern belle. Enter the screen name of your suspected cad or anyone who’s shown an interest in you or you in him, and up will come the number of times he’s been blocked and on which sites, for what reasons, if noted, the age of the pics he posts, any fraudulent info that may have been uncovered (i.e., age, cock size, waist size and relationship status), how many times he’s been through drug rehab, and the ratio of total hits he receives vs. the number he responds to, often an indicator he’s all bullshit.

Another app will allow you to silently zap some guy in the gym who’s sitting on a piece of equipment you wanna get on while yapping on his phone so he instantly gets the runs and has to trot off to the men’s room.

Carpal tunnel syndrome will become the leading medical condition among young gays addicted to their smartphones and all those hook-up apps.

There will be an increase in brain tumors and tumors of the ear among gay boys for the same reasons as above. Earplugitis will spread quicker than herpes.

GPS driven apps like Scruff and Growl’r will automatically suggest to prospective couples who click while out on the town a place or places within a half mile radius where they can fuck around – or at least compare cocks – discreetly.

With circumcision out of fashion, and older guys finding more and more younger guys uncut, the sales of foreskin restoration kits will go through the roof.

The Kim Davis voodoo doll will be perfect for venting about pain-in-the-asses in your life. Simply write their name on the cross daggers (after all, she is a good, God-fearing Christian girl), included and spear any part of the Kim Davis doll anatomy you feel like. (Her mouth, breasts, crotch, and butt will have pre-drilled holes for ease at stabbing.) It may not solve your problems but hearing the doll scream bloody murder each time you stab it certainly will give you some calm.

Cait Jenner, who’s worth a hundred million dollars, will be funding the Cait Jenner Transgender Surgery Center where guys who wanna be girls and girls who wanna be guys can donate their penises or vaginas to someone who really wants one. Any excess penises lying around and of potentially marketable size will go to the Cait Jenner Penis Transplant Center where poorly endowed guys with bucks can have a second chance at being a stud.

As younger gays go retro-fem, RuPaul will create an online course on “Swishing It Up” for butch guys afraid they’ll soon be left out. Boundjocks.com will also offer a quick on-line “how to play butch” course should one of these youngins be forced to venture into rednecks territory.

A special division of Isis, in an additional capitalistic scheme for raising revenue for their terrorist pursuits, will provide a home grown radicalized hit man exclusively for freeloading twinks married to rich daddies who want to conveniently and quietly have the “old man” disappear for the price of an RSVP cruise and automatically inherit his dough as the guy’s legal spouse. Rich daddies can also use it to dispose of a twink or long-time partner they’ve become bored with. Fees tied to the old man’s tax bracket.

With bestiality the last true sexual frontier, guys who want to have Fido fuck them can order a “Doggie Dong” (small, medium and wicked) from Fort Troff, the online sex toy store, that they strap on their canines. Includes specially created dog treats to keep your doggie distracted while you use him for your own decadent pleasures.

Hey, we’re all overboard on pampering our pooches. It’s time they paid us back!

Buy Guys Cover.jpg

Book Blurb:

Pete, a young, gay handsome drifter, is convinced by his roommate Blaze to join him and leave dreary Jersey for sunny, sex-drenched Fort Lauderdale. Their mission is simple: make a free and easy living as male prostitutes on the escort site, Buy Guys. For a while things seem to go their way, but as Pete falls deeper in love with Blaze, he is drawn into a much more sinister scheme that eventually threatens to destroy them both.

Excerpt:

It was just after seven in the morning when Pete got back to the house from his graveyard shift sweeping the factory floor at Brewers Screw and Fastener Company. After making himself a cup of coffee, Pete tiptoed into Blaze’s room and took a seat in the corner, quietly staring at his roommate asleep in all his naked glory, his smooth, melon butt jutting out from under the covers. Pete knew Bruno had been there tonight. The big brute was allergic to latex and the box of lamb skin condoms Blaze used when he fucked him was still on the bed stand.

It had been three months since Pete saw Blaze’s ad for a roommate – “masculine gay preferred” – on Craig’s List, and for Pete the timing couldn’t have been better. They hit it off over coffee at Starbucks, Blaze, the tall, slim, smooth, clean-shaven dirty blond, Pete, short, burly, bearded, dark and furry just about everywhere. Though they were both total tops, Pete felt an immediate attraction to his new surfer boy buddy and was happy when Blaze suggested that three-ways might be fun and set one up that same night with an old fuck buddy of his. Pete never let on the real fun for him was watching Blaze in action.

When he was sixteen, Pete’s crazy dad, who had beaten him up since he was a kid, suffocated his pill-popping mother with a Walmart plastic bag in a drunken rage and was now rotting for the rest of his life in Trenton State Prison. No foster home for him, Pete hitched rides with truckers he blew for food till he got to San Francisco where, grabbing a room off Harrison, South of Market, he worked the window at Blow Buddies, played bouncer at the Lone Star Saloon, was a sometime-escort to rich old fucks on the hills, and drifted in and out of a meth habit—twice. The last time he slammed was that weekend in Seattle. After what happened there, he stopped cold turkey and swore to himself that he would never touch the stuff again.

Then last August, out of the blue he heard from his father’s brother, twice-divorced Uncle Walt, who lived in Lyndhurst, New Jersey in a small clapboard house not far from where Pete had grown up. Seems Walt, a three-pack-a-day man, was dying of lung cancer and wanted Pete to come back and take care of him, wipe his ass, change his piss-stained sheets, and feed him like a baby, and for that, Pete would get the old man’s house, a fifty-thousand-dollar life insurance payout, and his 2004 Ford Bronco.

Sweet.

Only, after Walt kicked, Pete learned the house had a reverse mortgage on it and the bank owned it now, and the insurance policy was as real as his last trick on meth back in San Francisco.

At least the Bronco worked.

At Walt’s funeral, Pete ran into one of his old Garfield High chums, a security guard at Brewer’s who got him the job, and a week after that, just as he was being kicked out of his uncle’s house, along came Blaze’s ad.

Pete had been sitting in Blaze’s room for about twenty minutes when the dirty blond woke up. It was time to tell him the bad news.

“The fuckin’ rumor’s true.”

“Whatya mean?” said Blaze, turning over to show off his morning woody. Pete had seen it dozens of times before, but it was still, well, pretty. A nice seven inches, cut. Just like his.

“The rumor about Walmart buying up the factory to build a supercenter. They posted the notice at the time clock. The place is shutting up the end of the month, which means Friday.”

Blaze rolled out of bed and walked over to the bathroom a few yards away to take his overdue piss. “Well, then, it’s time,” he yelled as he relieved himself, “I mean, that is, if you wanna come with me.”

“Come with you where?” said Pete, still sitting in the corner of Blaze’s room.

Blaze walked back in. “To warm, sunny Lauderdale where we can play whores for hire.” He grabbed his silver and gold ID bracelet with his initials, BET for Blaze Eliot Talbot, from on top of his dresser and put it on his left wrist. “The place is loaded with lonely old retired gay guys with dough who’ll just eat us up.”

“You’re— You’re nuts—no, delusional,” said Pete, thinking this was all a joke.

“Hey, I checked it out on the web,” replied Blaze, scratching his pubes. “There’s even a site and a phone app called Buy Guys where we can sell what we got.”

“But, I—I don’t know…”

“You told me you fucked guys for money back in SF, didn’t you?”

“Yeah…”

“And I had a guy keep me in Manhattan for almost five years.”

“Till you said he kicked you out on the street for some younger blond bimbo.”

“His fuckin’ loss. Hope the shits get AIDS,” said Blaze, grabbing his Samsung from the bed stand.

“So we were both pay boys, so?”

“So, we both know nothing makes the cock harder than a stack of twenties on the bureau. Or keys to his Lexus.”

Then he moved in closer and stared at Pete, straight on.

“Listen, I was meaning to talk to you about this for a while, but now your little setback is the kick in the ass we both need to make it happen. You think I wanna keep fuckin’ Lardass forever just to save a few bucks on the rent?”

After Sydney kicked Blaze out of his Upper West Side condo, Blaze, who grew up in Totowa, decided to come back to his roots and grabbed a job as a driver and catch-all man for Bruno and his Forest Rest Funeral Home in upscale Fair Lawn. Married with three kids, Bruno took a liking to his dirty blond assistant, gave him a place to live in the lower apartment of the two-family house in Garfield he inherited from his mother, and took half off the rent if Blaze would fuck his fat, furry ass whenever Bruno felt like it.

“Let me show you what I’m fuckin’ talkin’ about,” said Blaze, pulling up the Buy Guys app on his phone and handing it over to Pete, who began flipping through profile after profile of the young, hung, and beautiful.

“And we’re gonna compete against all these pretty boys?” said Pete, laughing.

“Take your fuckin’ clothes off and come over here,” instructed Blaze with a dare in his voice as he walked over to his dresser with the large mirror. Blaze was two years younger than Pete, twenty-five versus twenty-seven, but Pete felt he was always the one who needed somebody to show him the way. Right then, that somebody was Blaze.

“Now, did you ever see two hotter dudes in your life?” laughed Blaze. Both their dicks were getting hard.

Pete smirked back at the two of them in the mirror.

“And we got a gimmick the rest of those little boys ain’t got,” said Blaze. “We can bill ourselves as a team. The dynamic duo!”

RP Andrews 2015Author Bio:

RP Andrews spent most of his life in New York City as a public relations executive before relocating to Fort Lauderdale in 2002, where he enjoyed a brief second career teaching writing at a local university.

All his works of erotic gay fiction and non-fiction are available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com and selected publisher websites.

His first work of erotic gay fiction, a collection of edgy short stories called Basic Butch, was originally published by San Francisco-based GLBT Publishers in 2008. Basic Butch features characters who go down life paths that, in the end, they wish they had never explored.

His latest works of serious gay fiction include:

The Czar of Wilton Drive, the story of Jonathan Antonucci, a twenty-one-year- old, barely-out-the-closet gay man from suburban New York who overnight finds himself a multimillionaire, thanks to a bequest by his late gay uncle. Uncle Charlie has unexpectedly died of a heart attack, leaving him the sole owner of several of the most successful bars in Wilton Manors, Fort Lauderdale’s gay ghetto, making Jonathan the Czar of Wilton Drive.

Flying down to Lauderdale to claim his bequest, Jon encounters Uncle Charlie’s dubious friends and business associates, and is immediately submerged in Lauderdale’s scene of unbridled sex and heavy drugs. He also discovers his great uncle’s memoirs which reveal truths not only about Jon’s own past but also what may have really happened to his uncle. In the end, Jon is torn between avenging Uncle Charlie’s death or loving the man responsible for it. From Kokoro Press.

Not In it For The Love, set at the turn of the new millennium. Josh, a young street-smart Florida drifter is snatched from his dead-end existence as a male hustler in a cheap Key Largo motel by Bishop, a Wall Street power broker who sets him up as his trophy boy in Manhattan society.

There, Josh, after leading a promiscuous lifestyle within New York City’s gay sub-culture, meets Hylan, a young, bi-racial, down-on-his luck, wheelchair-bound musician who awakens in Josh what love can be between two men. But their chance at happiness and the lives of those around them are forever changed by 9/11. From Totally Bound Press.

Buy Guys, his latest novella published by Wilde City Press, is the story of Blaze and Pete, two young, handsome drifters with nothing and nothing to lose. Blaze convinces Pete, who is falling in love with him, to leave dreary New Jersey and lead free and easy lives as male prostitutes in sunny Fort Lauderdale, posting their profile on the male escort site, Buy Guys. Blaze, however, soon pulls Pete into a much larger, more dangerous scheme, a scheme that eventually threatens to destroy them both.

RP Andrews’ daily social commentary blog on gay life in America has been running since 2010 at str8gayconfessions.com, and a second edition collection of these commentaries is available as an e-book on amazon.com. Confessions of a Str8Gay Man is RP Andrews’ unvarnished, unorthodox views of Modern Gay America which are often counter to today’s political correct gay media.

In addition, there is Furry Man’s Journal, his erotic memoirs as a hirsute gay man as told through his experiences with the dozen iconic men in his life.

Love on Location by Lucy Felthouse

loveonlocation_cover.jpg

When Theo Samuels heads off to film on location in the village of Stoneydale, he’s expecting drama to take place on camera, not off. But when he meets gorgeous local lad, Eddie Henderson, he struggles to ignore his attraction. A relationship between the two of them would be utterly impractical, yet they’re drawn together nonetheless. Can they overcome the seemingly endless hurdles between them? Or is their fling destined to remain as just that?

Excerpt

Theodore Albert Samuels strode through Stoneydale Hall, barely giving the opulent furnishings, the priceless art or the stunning architecture a second glance. It belonged to him, after all. It was all his, his birthright, his inheritance.

He stopped suddenly. “Damn,” he muttered under his breath, hoping none of the film crew were taking any notice of him. Looking over, it appeared they were still absorbed in figuring out lighting, props and where the actors should stand to get the best shots. Good—he wasn’t due to have a camera pointed at him for another two days; plenty of time to get his head around his role. And it was imperative he did—it was his biggest and highest profile part to date. If he got this right, it could truly launch his career. Maybe even into Oscar-winning territory.

Taking several deep breaths, he pulled himself up to his full height of 6ft 4” and adopted a haughty, disinterested manner—channelling Mr Darcy, perhaps? Either the one from Pride and Prejudice or Bridget Jones’ Diary would do.

I am William Arthur Stoneydale. And this property is mine.

They’d pretty much been given the run of the house—the real owners having gone to the south of France for the summer—so Theo continued marching around, upstairs and down, pulling in everything he could from his surroundings to make him truly feel like lord of the manor.

Sighing, he ran a hand through his mop of black curls and headed out into the gardens. They were beautiful; all manicured lawns, parterres, rose gardens, arches and perfectly placed shrubs. Despite the perfection, Theo felt more comfortable here—probably because he’d always been an outdoorsy sort, ever since he was a child. Only the strict yet loving influences of his parents had coaxed him inside to do his homework, study for his exams and eventually land himself a place at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, better known as RADA.

The latter had been completely his choice—his mother and father had only wanted him to work hard and do his best. His career options had not been chosen by them, only supported.

Slumping onto a bench, Theo reminded himself of his parents’ wholehearted support and belief. That, and the fact he’d graduated from RADA with a first. Following that, he’d gone from strength to strength.

“Come on, Theo,” he muttered to himself. “You can do this. It’s just another role. A role you can play. Can be.”

His solo pep talk was interrupted by the sound of footsteps crunching on gravel. Then, from behind a line of expertly done topiary appeared a young man, perhaps a few years Theo’s junior.

“Oh,” the other man said, slowing as he spotted Theo, “sorry. Didn’t know anyone would be out here. You’re not filming, are you?” He looked around for cameras. “I was told it wouldn’t be for a few days, give me time to finish—”

Theo cut him off. “Relax, mate, there’s no filming today. Not anywhere. The crew are still setting things up.”

The other man heaved a sigh of relief. “Oh, that’s all right then. Gave me a fright, that did. I need to make sure everything’s spot on in the gardens before they get rolling. So, what’s the star of the show doing out here by himself, anyway?”

Theo gave a wry grin. “Oh, I don’t know about star.”

The man made a scoffing sound. Then, “That’s not what I’ve heard. I’m Eddie, by the way. Eddie Henderson.”

Theo took the hand that was offered, and shook it. “Theodore Samuels. Theo. Nice to meet you.”

“You too. So, you never answered my question. Everything all right?”

“Yeah, I suppose,” Theo said with a shrug. “Just nerves, I think. I’m struggling to get into the right mindset for this character. But I’ve got a couple of days—so I won’t panic just yet. Actually,” he paused as a bright idea illuminated his brain, “could I ask you something?”

Eddie took a seat beside Theo on the bench, and it was only when they were up close and personal that he realised just how handsome the younger man was. He had a lightly-muscled build, ginger hair, a riot of freckles on his face and forearms, blue-green eyes and a slight gap between his two front teeth. Cute and sexy all at once. Christ, he’s going to be trouble.

NEW RELEASE: Seduced by My Best Friend’s Dad

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had a new release — but that’s because I’ve been working hard on a co-authored project that is super dirty!

Sandra Claire, my co-author, is a writer of smutty short stories of all romantic pairings (MM, MF, MMF, MFF) and someone I know off-line.  We’ve been working hard on a joint project for a few months now — I wanted to do something dirtier and she wanted to do something longer.

Seduced by My Best Friend’s Dad is the raunchy product of this collaboration!

It’s under the series header of Forbidden Desires — which will be a series of novellas co-authored by Sandra and myself, exploring slightly taboo and/or forbidden sex scenarios.  The second novella will feature a priest and parishioner, and the third a professor and student — I hope to have those out in three and six months, respectively.

For now — check out Seduced by My Best Friend’s Dad!

FD1-Seduced-by-my-Best-Friends-Dad

Jay has a crush on Richard, his best friend’s dad. Richard is older, very masculine, cares about Jay, and is extremely sexy. There are just the problems of Richard being straight, married, and the father of Jay’s life-long best friend.

When Richard takes his son and Jay on a camping trip to celebrate turning eighteen, becoming men, and taking their first steps into the adult world, Jay struggles to contain his lust. Hitting on Richard would ruin the camping trip and destroy his friendship.

But when his friend takes ill and Jay and Richard enjoy some bonding time alone, it becomes clear that Jay isn’t the only one in the thrall of forbidden desires. A relaxing camping trip soon turns into a series of sweaty, erotic encounters, as Jay and Richard stoke this fire burning between them.

Seduced by My Best Friend’s Dad is a 30,000-word novella.

You can find Seduced by My Best Friend’s Dad at All Romance eBooks, Amazon, Excitica, and Smashwords!  (Do you prefer Barnes and Noble, iBooks, or Kobo?  It should be up on those sites by the end of the week — so keep checking!)
