Tournaments at BoardGameArena – February 2021
I’m a big fan of BoardGameArena, a website where you can play hundreds of different board games and card games for free. (And if you really like BGA, a premium membership is not expensive and has some benefits.) I talk about why I like BGA so much quite a bit in the chapter of my book HOW TO HOST A GAME NIGHT that’s about virtual game nights.
Most months at BGA, I set up a bunch of tournaments under the “Pennsylvania Cup” banner. (Which really means nothing; it’s just a fun way to signal that th...

Daredevil #1 – Trivia Game
In this trivia game, you decide how much risk you’re willing to take. The more answers you choose, the more points you can score — but incorrect answers count against you!
(Click on the image, or here, for a larger version.)
In each of the two categories, you can guess as many answers as you want. In each category, there are 7 to 11 correct answers (which of course means there are 1 to 5 incorrect answers).
You earn 1 point for each correct answer and lose 1 point for each incorrect answer.

It may not look like it at first glance, but this crossword-style game is all about board games. Every answer is the title – or part of the title – of a board game.

Half Truth Trivia Game #6
This trivia game is inspired by the board game Half Truth, designed by Richard Garfield and Ken Jennings and published by Studio71 Games.
In each of the two groups in the image above, 3 answers are correct.
You guess 1, 2 or 3 answers. Guessing 3 can score more points, but it’s risky! If you get 1 right, you earn 1 point. Getting 2 right earns you 3 points, and getting 3 right earns you 6 points. BUT — and this is very important! — if you get ANY wrong, you earn ZERO points.
Each group is score...

Reminder: Tabletop Games Trivia on 12/30 & 12/31!
Here’s a quick reminder about the tabletop games trivia events I’m hosting on Zoom on Dec. 30 and 31!
This trivia game features five rounds — each completely different from the others, but they all feature visual clues — and it can be played by individuals or by teams. (If you play with a team, just be sure you have a way to consult each other that won’t be heard by others on the Zoom. Discord, texting, and using the private chat feature on Zoom can all work.) The entire game takes between 60 an...

Characters from Clue – Visual Trivia
Growing up, Clue was always among my favorite board games. (Deduction games remain a favorite genre.) And the 1985 film Clue (rated 7.3 out of 10 at IMDb and 86% audience score at Rotten Tomatoes) remains one of the most successful board-game-to-movie adaptations of all time.
In this visual trivia game, your job is to identify the characters from a classic edition of the board game Clue, along with the characters – and the actors who played them – from the 1985 film.
Scoring:
