Sundown:
Having survived the massacre aboard the doomed cruise ship Oceanus, all Dan Bellamy wants is peace; a chance to go home and attempt to put his life - and his mind - back together.
He's not going to get it.
Dragged back to the UK by the remaining members of the Rennick family, Dan finds himself once more pitched into a nightmare. Vampires are rising, gathering in force for an assault on London which could blow the secret of their existence wide open, and Dan's captors are convinced that he alone holds the key to defeating them.
Dan knows he has some strange connection with the creatures. Trouble is, as chaos erupts on the streets and the bodies begin to pile up around Dan, it looks like the vampires know it, too.
And they aren't the only ones...

Adrift sequel
A picture is worth a thousand words, right? So, while I could write at least that much on how awesome and bewildering and terrifying the response to my last novel has been, I think it's better to just let this picture explain how I have felt over the two months since Adrift released.
Honestly, I can't thank you enough if you've downloaded and read Adrift. Each and every download means the world to me.
I tried to write Adrift in such a way that it could be either a standalone novel or the start of something bigger, and wanted to leave the question of whether the story continued or not for the readers to answer. The feedback I've had has been staggering and humbling, and it seems like most people would like to see the adventure continue. Since I, too, am one of those people, I guess it's time to formally announce that Adrift will be the first installment in a series, titled The Black River :D
At the moment, I've planned for The Black River to be a trilogy, and work on Sundown, the sequel to Adrift, is going well. Though I don't have a firm release date yet, I hope it will be sooner rather than later, so stay tuned to find out exactly when part 2 will be ready. As always, if you'd like to be the first to know about the release, and to benefit from a reduced launch price, please consider signing up to my mailing list.
Anyways, that's enough of my babbling.
Coming soon:

Adrift limited edition/Sinister Grin Press

SG have a wealth of experience in producing high quality collector's editions of horror books, and have worked with genre luminaries such as the late J.F. Gonzalez, Jack Ketchum, Brian Keene and Wrath James White.
As part of the deal, the hardback version of Adrift will receive a new cover by SG's awesome design team, and having looked through some of their other work (below), I can't wait to see what they come up with!
More news on the hardback publication of Adrift very soon :D

New release: Adrift/Launch discount

I'm delighted to announce that my latest novel, Adrift, is now available in digital and paperback formats.
As a thank you to all my readers and mailing list subscribers, Adrift is available at a special launch discount price of $0.99/£0.99 on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Google Play until 30 November. It's also working its way through the systems of iTunes, Barnes & Noble (Nook) and Kobo, and I hope it will be available on those channels over the next few days.
Adrift is an action horror in a similar vein to my zombie apocalypse series Wildfire Chronicles , and is my take on another of the horror genre's most enduring monsters, but I don't want to give too many clues about the plot away, so you'll have to read it to find out more!
Here's the blurb:
For artist Dan Bellamy and his new bride Elaine, a trip on the world's biggest, newest cruise ship represents more than just the honeymoon of a lifetime: it is also a celebration of the progress Dan has made toward beating the agoraphobia that has plagued him since he suffered a horrific knife attack two years earlier.
The ship is a perfect floating paradise, but when Dan spots what he thinks is a body being thrown overboard, he begins to suspect that not everybody aboard the Oceanus is there for a vacation.
Soon, Dan will discover that there are some things worse than murder, and the body he saw is just the beginning. Because something is coming for the passengers on the Oceanus.
Something that isn't supposed to exist...
Huge thanks to everybody downloading and reading Adrift - I hope you enjoy it, and stay tuned for news on my next release, which I hope will be available early in 2015.

Recently read: Origin by J.A. Konrath

I've already read a few of his novels, mostly those written under the pen name Jack Kilborn, and found them to be genuine page turners, full of suspense and fun, and that's exactly what I got with Origin .
The plot revolves around the discovery of something demonic during the building of the Panama canal, and the subsequent cover up by the US government. In present day, we follow Andy, a linguist, who has been dragged into the secretive Project Samhain and tasked with communicating with the now-awake demonic something in an underground base.
Disclaimer: I fricking love underground bases. You could pretty much set every novel ever written in an underground base and improve it, right?
Er...right?
Anyway, Origin is pretty high-concept stuff, which I guess is classic Konrath, and it makes for a really entertaining read. Lots of nice comic touches and characterisation in the first half of the novel (including the developing relationship between Andy and Sunshine Jones, which is at times laugh-out-loud funny) but the reader always has that sense of dread that the characters are playing with fire, and will surely get burned.
There were a few detours into theology and history that felt a little like Konrath really wanted the reader to know that he had done his research, and I found some of these sections interesting, but they did slow the action down a little for me. But Konrath is a storyteller first and foremost, and the story here, though occasionally predictable, never stopped being fun.
Not as 'horror' as some of his other work despite the occasional foray into gore, and definitely not as suspenseful, but a really fun read, and I got through it in no time.
Loved the ending, too. The novel equivalent of dropping the microphone and marching offstage. Great stuff.
Recommended, but if you're new to Konrath/Kilborn's work, I'd definitely advise starting off with Endurance or Afraid before giving Origin a shot.
3.5/5
