News from the Historical Novel Society conference

I was at the Historical Novel Society Conference this past weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. I learned a great deal, and had a wonderful time meeting all the writers of this vastly diverse genre. I was able to speak with the lovely Anne Perry, which was a great treat for this avid fan.

I was at the Historical Novel Society Conference this past weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. I learned a great deal, and had a wonderful time meeting all the writers of this vastly diverse genre. Special thanks go to my co-panelists on The American Experience panel, Sharman Burson Ramsey and Ann Weisgarber. Another highlight: several chats with the lovely Anne Perry, whose novels saved me during one particularly hard year.

Hello, all! Tonight, I am giving a lecture at the 58th annual meeting of the American College of Nurse Midwives in Nashville, TN. I will be speaking about 18th century midwifery and reading from The Midwife’s Revolt. Then, on Saturday June 1, I will be signing books at Book Expo America in New York City. Check back soon for the Powerpoint on 18th century midwifery in America, which I will be posting on this site!
