Photography for "Faithless Heart"
Spent the last several days of my stay-cation taking photographs of downtown LA and Hollywood for the cover of my latest.
It's fun to be a tourist doing things we never do. Just because we live in Southern California doesn't mean we can't look at the touristy things out of towners enjoy.
Since the novel is a 50s noir, I'm looking for old Los Angeles and old Hollywood.
There's going to be a lot of editing and touching up in Photoshop.

Editing The High Fortress
I'm astonished that this book contains more things to be fixed than its subsequent siblings.
Perhaps it is an example of a sophomore slump. The story is a quantum leap in excitement from its predecessor. Still there are things in the writing that need adjusting to align it with my following works.
When finished, the updated version will be vastly superior, my latest proof be damned.
In contrast the following books in the series are far closer to being published: The Roof of the World, The 13th Book.
The Mirrored Room awaits completion of these three, then its on to Faithless Heart.
Oh, woe is me. The process should take me into next year before I return to the act of creation, which is where my heart truly resides.
Still, reading, proofreading, copy editing have all added to the quality of my writing.
One of the most important things I have gained understanding and appreciation of is the comma.

Faithless Heart
My second proof of my 50s noir has been completed. My review of it's pages has been delayed by my efforts to put my five Falco books on paperback.
This book has probably more mainstream appeal as there is no supernatural element present.
It's intense, tragic and compelling.
I can't wait to put this one up there too.

The Roof of the World
I'm nearly ready to order my second proof of the concluding novel of the Falco trilogy: The Roof of the World.
This one finds Falco and his companions in a cave deep in the western Himalayas.
I found it thrilling to write and I hope to read.
It's astounding how many times one can read a work and find more and more things to correct and change. After uploading my latest, I realized I had forgotten to make a few key changes.
I made them and will upload a new version.
I completed a revision of The High Fortress and ordered a proof of that a week ago or so. Then it's on to The 13th Book, the epic of the series so far. After that it's The Mirrored Room.

Falco Series
I'm currently working on putting the next four Falco books into paperback form. I've completed front covers on the next three and need to compose the cover for the fifth. Spine text has been created. Next back covers and blurbs need to be created as the editing process continues. I've put my first edit of Faithless Heart on hold until I get this process further along. Can't wait to get it done.

Faithless Heart
The title of my current novel. It's going to be a 50s noir, detective novel. The prequel is 1946 Japan, during the Occupation. I've learned a lot of disturbing things that will be in the novel. This will be a tragic tale, with bad things happening to flawed people. Some are noble, many are bad. It's too soon in the process to give any more away than that.
I'm writing the Japan part now. What a terrible milieu my protagonist is in.
What a terrible choice he faces when he comes home.

The Mirrored Room
Can't believe I've finished my fifth book in the Falco series. I've decided to name each novel as A FALCO ADVENTURE, because that's what they are. The Mirrored Room takes place in and around New Orleans. Mardi Gras figures in as do zombies, vampires, magic, ghosts, organ transplants and more.
It's a thrilling ride with a great climax.
I'm not done with Falco. The next book is coming. Five, damnit, five!
The first is now available as a paperback on Amazon.com. Order it, read it! I'll be doing a giveaway soon in hopes of generating some positive reviews.

This book was interesting in that I reviewed and corrected the previous day's writing before starting on the next. I caught a lot of errors and made a lot of changes that way.
It still amazes me how ma This book was interesting in that I reviewed and corrected the previous day's writing before starting on the next. I caught a lot of errors and made a lot of changes that way.
It still amazes me how many changes beg to be made in essentially the third pass through the book.
After I make the changes I'm working on I suppose I'll have to print out another copy and read it again before uploading the novel for consumption. Arduous process indeed! ...more
