The Book Report: Rachel Vincent’s Menagerie
Many people should know by now that I am a huge Rachel Vincent fangirl, and although I wanted to start this series when it first came out, something made me wait. I’m so glad I got around to reading it! Menagerie is book one of the trilogy; it’s dark, deep, and just an overall immersive story that I couldn’t finish fast enough. I’m looking forward to the January release of Every Single Lie. You will be seeing more of her books pop-up on my channel, just this is just a fair warning! Enjoy! #ReadWithMe

Authentic: Da-Beard! | Laser Hair Removal
Hey there! I’m going to be documenting my experience with laser hair removal. I’m very transparent about my insecurities sometimes, and this is one of them. I can grow a full beard. Well, probably not full-full, because I like to exaggerate, but full enough for me to really feel bad about it. I’m a woman, and women aren’t supposed to grow beards, right? I haven’t been able to embrace the beard, even though I have a wonderful husband who loves me regardless, but I wanted to do something for ME. I went to LaserFlavor out here in Atlanta, GA and honestly loved every moment of my first couple of interactions with the technician. She answered all of my questions and made me comfortable; I was in-and-out in no time. I hope you all enjoy this new addition of content to my channel!

Introducing Me-ish
Hey! I just wanted to pop in here and talk a little bit more about the books I, myself, have published over the years. I’m starting out with the first three books, I ever wrote, which were: Everything that Glitters, Hysteria, and Last Seen. I was coming from a place of being really new, and inexperienced in the writing world, and was just trying my hand a few different things. Above all, I just wanted to write! So, these are what came out. I’m going to be kind of intertwining these in with some of my Book Report videos, to give you guys twice the content per week. The Book Report will still be up on Monday’s and I’ll make these little book behind the scenes on Wednesday’s. Just as a push to whoever needs one to just keep going! I hope you all enjoy, and as always, happy reading!

The Book Report: Carlotta Hadnott’s Conjugal Visit
There were elements of this story that I really wanted to like. Maybe it was the steamy synopsis and the promising title. This story is about a wife and mother who is thrown into a life of sneaky, and sultry, adultery. She battles with the crossroads of her husband and her new millionaire lover, all while discovering a version of herself that she never knew existed. While, I wanted to love this story, it unfortunately fell victim to the hole that a lot of erotic novels go into.

You, Me & Poetry
I’ve been gone for a while, I know. But just know that if you’re seeing me less, it only means I’m doing more!
As part of all of the things I’m doing–not only for myself, but for other authors too–is the introduction of my newest book: Love Letters to Heaven.
It’s a fully illustrated, full-color poetry book that touches on a lot of my insecurities as both a person and an author. I’m very sensitive about my poetry, ya’ll! Which, I know, I know, is a little ironic, but it’s true. Which explains why I haven’t written–well, published–one since Hysteria. Then again, Hysteria was a combination of poetry and short fiction.

Still, I’m excited about this release nonetheless, and I hope that you all enjoy! That’s going to wrap up any personal projects I have for the rest of this year, so I’ll be diving deeper into the awesome books that I’m in the process of publishing. I can’t believe this year is already coming to a close! Aren’t we all just a little bit thankful for it though? I mean, what more could happen in 2020, aside from the end of the world?
Speaking of, if you haven’t already, you should definitely check out my book: Girl, It Hasn’t Happened Yet! Which is a guide to navigating life with anxiety. I’ll definitely be making a separate post about that, but feel free to head on over the iWriteBooksPub.com to get a look at it in all it’s glory, as well as snag your copy of Love Letters to Heaven. Both are available in print in the iWB Store, and on digital from Amazon Kindle.
So, what are you waiting for? Get to it!

The Book Report: Scott Donnelly’s The Whool
I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. It was creepy, fast-paced, and just an overall well-developed story. The description doesn’t actually tell you anything about the story, which in a lot of ways I think works against the story; but I get the whole “less is more” kind of vibe. Although I was really looking forward to the release of The Milk Boy late October, I can’t say it lived up to my expectations. Still, I was so intrigued by the originality of the legend, I searched Google (to no avail) for more details. This is one of my favorite stories of 2020. It kept me curled up on my couch, anxiously flipping the pages, until I finished it; my only complaint would be that I honestly want a full-length novel out of this!

The Wait is Over! +Audiobook
So many things have been happening that I feel like a part of me has been really neglecting to updated my main (and most personal) site. If you haven’t already, check out the all new iWriteBooks Publishing website, where you’ll be able to make purchases of books both by me, and ones by some of the authors that I have helped publish.

Anyways, I promise to get back to this soon! For now, I wanted to formally announce the audiobook for Last Seen! I’m always so excited about the audiobook process, because finding someone to fully execute the vision is both fun and challenging at the same time. I had a lot of different types of people audition to produce this book, and I’m happy to say that I found THE ONE! Danielle Jiggits is amazing, and I knew from her audition that she would be the one to beat. As it turned out, I was able to offer her the role as producer and narrator! So, of course, in true Myunique fashion, here’s an audio sample of the ENTIRE first chapter of Last Seen! It will not be widely available for another few months, but I’m sure you guys will love Danielle as much as I did. Just so you can read along, I’ve also included the first chapter in text-form to download.
Paperback books of Last Seen are in stock right now. As a special bonus, if you purchase the paperback version, you’ll be among the first to receive the audiobook before it’s official release day. FOR FREE!
Here’s what’s on the back:
It was a romantic weekend, one Kahra Daniels hadn’t experienced in a long time. But, when Kahra discovers that not only is the man she’s seeing married, but living happily as a family with children in New York, things take a turn for the worst. Stripped of her pride and ordered to be taken away by the very man she thought she could love, a new, dark door opens within her. “This isn’t over,” she promises before being thrown into a cell for 30 days. It is during her lonely nights there that she develops a plan to assassinate anyone he’s last seen with. Her logic is simple: once the bodies begin piling up, the cops will turn to him after realizing he’s the only common denominator.
Fueled by her own traumatic past and sometimes unstoppable flashbacks, Kahra soon puts her plan into action, and as the body count rises, so do the stakes.
That’s enough about that. Get to listening!

Let it Shine: Scott Donnelly
This week, I’d like to introduce you guys to Scott Donnelly! I’ve just finished reading his latest release, The Whool, and I enjoyed it so much! I am so excited that he was available for this Author Spotlight.
Heres a little about Scott: Scott Donnelly is an Indie Author who lives in Grove City, Ohio with his wife and three children. Scott is the author of THE ICE GHOST, the first book in the action/thriller RED•ECHO series. He also writes the highly-rated UNHEARD OF series, which are sci-fi thrillers that are based in, and around, Grove City, and uses an investigative format to explore the possible cover-up of alien activity in the area. Scott also writes THE SCOUT BROOKS SAGA, and it’s sequel trilogy, THE SON-ISH CLONE OF SCOUT, which are the quirky, space adventures of high-schooler Scout Brooks, and his misfit crew that follow him to every corner of the universe on the most ridiculous missions ever. Scott just released THE WHOOL, a ghastly horror novella on August 17th of this year.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
When I was in middle school, I had to write a short story for an english class. It wasn’t very good, but I had a lot of fun writing it. My interest took off from there, and I was writing every chance I got, whether it was a fan-fiction story, an original story, or even a screenplay.
Tell me a little about your writing journey, thus far.
It’s been a very slow journey, but I feel like with each thing I release, I become more comfortable and confident. My writing is a hobby above all else, but it wasn’t until I released “The Scout Brooks Story: The Freshman Invasion” in 2014 that I tried to get my work out there more. Since then, I have released one or two things a year.
Do you write under a pseudonym? If so explain why.
I wrote one story under a pseudonym, but lost interest in the project. It was a sequel to a public domain property. The book is still available as a free ebook download. If you dig just right, you can probably find it.
What genre do you write and why?
I like to write in a variety of genres so I can explore many topics and not bore myself with the same things over and over. I feel like I usually have so many ideas that won’t all fall under the same genre. Most of the time it is within the realm of science fiction, horror, and action. I basically write things that I would like to read.
What are you currently working on?
I just released a horror novella called “The Whool” which I am very excited about. I am currently working on book two in “The Red Echo Series”, my action/thriller series inspired by action movies from the 80s and 90s. I am also writing the seventh, and final, book in “The Scout Brooks Saga”, which is a quirky, fun, sci-fi adventure series. I am also contributing to a couple upcoming anthologies, “Pulp Reality #2” (2021) and “Tales of the Weird and Strange.” (Fall 2020). I am always coming up with new ideas, so i’m sure I’ll have something else in the works pretty soon.
What inspired you to write?
My middle school english class and teacher were huge inspirations at the beginning. As I grew older, my family and children became strong inspirations, as well as my dedicated readers. I really write for them.
What are your top 5 favorite books?
I have enjoyed so many books in my life. My favorite book of all time is “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie. It is what sparked my interest in mysteries, which spiraled into a love for horror movies. I also really enjoyed “White Shark” by Peter Benchley, “I Am Not a Serial Killer” by Dan Wells, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” by CS Lewis, and “War of the Worlds” by HG Wells.
What does literary success look like to you?
Literary success, to me, is creating a story that people would love to read, or characters that people would love to keep reading about. I love the thought of people looking forward to my next book, especially in a series. I have a few readers who definitely feel that way, but I would always love to have more. Entertaining is my goal. If I can genuinely entertain even just one person, I’ll feel successful.
How many hours a day do you write? What is your writing routine?
Having a full time job and three kids makes it difficult these days to sit down and be able to write or have a routine. I try to squeeze in a few paragraphs here and there, and occasionally, I’ll have a nice chunk of time to work on things. But since I treat my writing as a hobby, that makes it easier to have it spread out more. Usually my only deadlines are times and dates I set myself. I can be flexible.
How do you incorporate feedback into your work?
I love feedback. Good or bad. I’ve definitely received my fair share of negative feedback (mostly with my earlier books), but you also can’t please everyone with everything. A bad review I can usually shake off, but if they make good points, I definitely take note. The good reviews though are what I feed off the most.
What advice would you like to give to aspiring authors?
Don’t be discouraged. It takes a long time for your work to be noticed. Sometimes it won’t. But as long as you enjoy it, keep at it. You’ll have a lot to be proud of.
