Of bribery and paralysis

Today I engage once more in the time-honored practice of bribery.  When I write a chapter, I get a reward.

Yesterday’s plan to write a chapter of Troll Or Park was thwarted by the wild medicinals chase that was picking up prescriptions for my son.  What should have taken 15 minutes turned into hours (plural) because someone didn’t do his job, then someone else didn’t do his job…none of whom were pharmacy employees.  Really, for awhile I was held hostage in my van with a sleeping baby in the heat, until I almost ran out of gas.  I refuse to name names, but the person who bore responsibility for this ridiculousness has a long history of being irresponsible about such matters.  And that’s all I’ll say about that.

So, I didn’t get to write yesterday.  I pledged to get up this morning and write.  My plan was to go to the coffee shop and reward myself with something yummy for having made the effort.

ONLY, I woke with a child sleeping on top of my arm.  This happens every morning.  The only difference today was that a dog was curled at my feet and my body was forced into the shape of the numeral “5."

So now, an hour later I am realizing I could be jotting Troll Or Park right now.  I could be.  But instead I feel my time is better used bitching and making excuses.

Okay, no more excuses.  I’ll write for a bit, then take my kid to dance class, then a reward for me.  Maybe more writing, if I can find the time away from the family.

Dark Fantasy Author Red Tash: We're just going to the party, we're not going to stay here :

I found some cool animated gifs to illustrate the amazing dream I had last night.

Last night the fae took over my subconscious. I didn’t realize it until I awoke, and then I grabbed a pen and jotted down notes. Hopefully the adventure they took me on stays with me.

July 17, 2013

Oh, Facebook, where art thou?

Today was the first highly productive day sans FB I’ve had in weeks.  I wrote (Bird After Bird), I published (A Unique Rabbit and other projects), I fixed previously published things that were messed up, I dealt with publishing-related emails, I *did* stuff.

At one point today (in the shower, where my muse hangs out), I realized I was going off on a mental tangent about the old saw “God doesn’t give us more than we can handle."  I realized while combing through my long wet hair (where my muse always hands off her ideas to her spindly little workers) that this exact line of thought was the sort of thing Laurie Byrd would write to Sylvia about…so I did it for him.  Chapter Six, in the can!

It was a triumph because at that point I really thought I was done working for the day.

I’ve been sick for a few weeks.  I thought I was better after the first week because I wasn’t vomiting anymore, but I was sicker than I thought.  Off to talk to a specialist soon.  I’ll be okay.  I know I will be because I still have days like today in me.

It wasn’t because I disabled my FB accounts, but that didn’t hurt one bit.

I MISS MY FRIENDS LIKE CRAZY!  But this is still good for me and as long as it’s not broke, I’ll keep not fixing it.

If you miss me back, just drop me an email. I love getting texts, too.
