Hypericon is coming!

So I will definitely be at Hypericon this weekend. I have two panels on Saturday, including Costuming on a Budget.

There's a slight chance I'll be at UtopYA a YA writer's convention Thursday/Friday manning a table for a group. If I'm not there, at least my books will be.


To the left is my newest PLL design.  I like it, but can't say it works as well on merchandise as some of the more square ones.

I am turning my attention back to my budgeting book for a few months. Partly for research purposes, partly for exercise, and mostly for money, I've been working a temp / part-time job to get my head back in the right space. Haven't done much writing the last couple weeks, but I think down time now and then can be good for me.

In other thrilling news, I have bought a hamster who is already quite spoiled.

The last chapter of The Hidden Prince is now available on Fictionpress.

I'm working a temp job this week and next, so only a little time here and there for creative work.

Penultimate Chapter of The Hidden Prince Posted

Yup, just Chapter 19 and then the finale. It'll stay up for a few months at least. My editor is still working on Horse Feathers, and I'll start writing the last serial later this year.

I'm going to be turning my attention back to my budgeting book revision. If you want to follow the financial tips, I have a second blog for money talk The Minimum Wager (minimumwager.livejournal.com) and a Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/LivingMinimumWage). I've linked some really good articles on the Facebook page but have been a little lax promoting the page itself.

I will be at Hypericon in June and hopefully another convention come August. In the time in between, (along with finishing the revision) I'm hoping to beef up my online presence and do a blog tour or something of that nature.

Pictured Above are some new design variations on Cartoon Network designs for the fanportal. This is on a dog bed, one of their newer items. I'll get back to doing new things, but cleaning up the current stuff seems important, particularly with Cafepress clearing out a lot of their inventory. While I'm promoting Facebook Pages, the Amoeba Ink company page could use some love.

Chapter 18 of The Hidden Prince and Jabecon

The Hidden Prince Chapter 18 is up.  A night time visitor gives young Kaleb a fright.

I can't really call this entire story a murder mystery, because the mystery is only in the last five chapters, but I'm still having fun weaving that element into the book.

On Cafepress, I haven't really added any new designs this month. I've got sketches for things, but they're unfinished. I have spent several hours cleaning up current designs and done some new variations on them. This past week or so I've been focusing on our Cartoon Network fan portal. (P.S. I think they're discontinuing several items. Today may be your last chance to get an all-over print shirt...and I just added several to the planeteer designs *sigh*.)

Offline, I will be at Jabecon in Lebanon, TN this weekend, running panels on Fanfiction and Sushi.

P.S. As a general request, if you read something I've (or another author has) written, please review it. I'm not asking for praise. If you disliked it or felt meh about it, go ahead and put that in the review. It's helpful to writers and to other readers.

Chapter 17 and Upcoming Conventions

Chapter 17 of The Hidden Prince is now up and ready for reading.

In one of my stories, the protagonist is sent on a quest and told to follow the path, which she does with devotion, despite hardships and betrayal. Hoping her journey is at its end, she comes over a rise to discover that the path on the other side splits into five directions. The scene fit this month so well, my brain generated the above image with me filling in for my character. I have many options, I need to pick one, but it's hard to make a choice. None of them are obviously bad, but none are obviously superior either, so I just feel stuck, like I'm not getting anywhere. Anyway, the image popped into my head, so I drew it.

Chapter 16 and The Lutist in Color

Chapter 16 of "The Hidden Prince" is now up for reading.  The prince is doubting his sanity, and there's been murder... good wholesome stuff.

I've colored "The Lutist" and put it on some T-shirts.  It has kind of a 70s vibe.

I've just signed up for the Bellevue Community Picnic on May 16th.

I'm worn out and a little sunburned from the Main Street Festival in Franklin today, but I'll be there tomorrow too.

I had a good time at That Book Place's Author Fair earlier this month. The Girl With No Name paperback won't be out for general release until June, but I was able to sneak peak it at the fair and got a good response.

I've been active on Cafepress and Zazzle this month, but it's mainly been clearing out discontinued items and adding existing designs to new ones. The turn over on phones is killing me. I just finished adding all the new iphone 5 covers, when they discontinued most of those and started offering iphone 6. I do understand why they don't auto-add designs to new items. I tried that option with Zazzle and the results were horrid. But I do wish they'd remove discontinued items automatically. It would save a lot of time.

I'm currently planning to attend two different events just north of Kentucky over the next few weekends. I'll post a little more on those next week.

Chapter 13 of The Hidden Prince is up in a timely fashion, but I'm going to take the next three or four weeks off from posting chapters since I'll be out of town and launching another project. You will be hearing a lot about tomatoes over the next couple months.

I was a little embarrassed and confused this week when I realized my black and white PPL design was white and grey. Turned out to be CMYK not translating properly into RGB in illustrator. The design has been fixed and updated in most places, but I still need to remake the phone covers and improve the sizing on a few items.

I've been having a bit of a dry spell design wise, so I was relieved when this image popped into my head tuesday night.  Originally I wanted to use PPL theme song lyrics, but that violates fanportal rules.  So I came up with my own words, which I still think fit the show pretty well.  I particularly like the pocket detail.  I removed the words on the phone cover versions.  You can see the swag here on Cafepress.

We're gearing up for the Tomato Anthology Kickstarter. The ice and snow has slowed things down a bit, so we may launch a week or so later than planned to allow us time to establish shipping prices for rewards. But I believe the cover is figured out, so I'll probably be removing some older posts on the subject and posting the new cover next week.
