Casey’s Thoughts

First and foremost, if you haven’t ready, Deceptive Innocence, you need to start there.  Ohmygowsh y’all!!! That book was SO intense.  I saw a quote saying it was Fifty Shades with depth and a story…um, no!  It was beyond Fifty Shades!  I mean come on crime, murder, revenge, and love.  It honestly doesn’t get any better than that!

In Dangerous Alliance, Lander and Bell are partners in crime.  They should be enemies, but love has it’s way of bring people together.  Bell has begun to put her revenge to the side in order to follow the plans to take down HGVB.  It’s has so many people involved it’s crazy!  From family to drug cartel.  Lander is on a mission to take his family down, but is he truly being honest with Bell?

This story is about what actually happens to the Gable Family and not about Lander and Bell’s relationship like book one..  There are less sex scenes between Lander and Bell, but that doesn’t mean this book is less intense.  There is suspense, tension between the two, and it’s HOT!

Dangerous Alliance will leave you cheering for revenge, praying for a happily ever after, and trying to figure out each detail down to the last page.  This book has depth, romance, and a storyline that full of surprises, twists, and turns.

Growing up we all make promises to friends and boyfriends that we believe we will keep, but what happens when we grow up?  Does life allow us to fulfill those promises?  Liza and Walker have been best friends and crossed a line once they were older.  They promised to always be together, but when they go to different schools distance makes things tough.

After moving forward, they both have new lives and new relationships, but when Keith asks Liza to marry him, she turns him down.  She comes home for the summer and says that she will have an answer at that time.  Walker and Jessica seem to be moving forward.  She’s agreed to move to the country with him, but we all know this isn’t her cup of tea.

Everyone around Liza and Walker know it’s not over between them, but are they willing to hurt who they are with right now? With the help of Liza’s dad things are put into place.  It soon becomes obvious that they can’t be around each other or lines will get crossed.

I loved this story and it’s country style.  I also loved how you knew who was meant to be together, but there was something trying to come between them.  There are twist and turns, unfortunate events, overcoming obstacles, fulfilling your promises, and moving forward!

If you love a good southern romance, this is the story for you!

I leaned my face in closer to Liza and took in a deep breath. She smelled like heaven. As we danced neither of us spoke a word. The song ended and Liza pulled slightly back. She looked into my eyes and I wasn’t sure what to do next. My heart was telling me to do one thing, but my head was telling me to walk away. He left me standing there as he disappeared into the bathroom, and I tried to make sense of what just happened. All I knew was that the punch-in-the-chest sadness that came whenever I thought of Shaun wasn’t there. And I didn’t know what to make of that.

Taking a deep breath, I put my clothes on his dresser and all but dashed into the bed, and good Lord, the mattress was comfy! I scooted to the middle and froze, having no idea what side he slept on or if he had a side. I totally had a side—always the furthest away from closet doors because I was a dork. Straightening the shirt out so my undies weren’t saying hi to the world, I tugged the blanket up to my hips and lay flat on my back.

I so needed an adult to explain to me what the hell I was supposed to do from this point on.

There wasn’t much time to stress over it because Ren returned from the bathroom. His ever-present half grin spread as he saw me. I clutched the blanket, my breath caught in my throat. My heart pounded so fast that I wondered if I was going to have a heart attack, and God, wouldn’t that be embarrassing. I swallowed nervously and willed my heart to slow.

Turning off the lamp, shadows fell around Ren, but when he faced me, I could tell that he’d frozen. I couldn’t make out his expression as he bent, taking a hold of the covers on his side.

“Ivy?”

“Hmm?”

He slowly edged the covers back from his side and climbed in, and although I couldn’t make out his eyes, I knew he was watching me. “I’m happy that you’re here.”

My fingers eased off the blanket.

As he stretched out beside me, my eyes adjusted to the lack of light, and I could see that he was smiling. “Are you?”

“Yeah,” I whispered.

“Good. That’s all I wanted to hear.”

Wow, the warmth that flooded my chest could’ve turned me into a puddle of goo in that bed. I waited for him to make a move on me, but seconds ticked by. He seriously was behaving himself. I dared a quick peek at him, and found I could not look away.

Ren lifted his arm closest to me, and a heartbeat passed. I hesitated for a moment, and then, my heart pounding even more, I slid over until my leg brushed his. He curved his arm around my waist and drew me up against his side, guiding me down until I was nestled against his warm, bare chest. Another moment passed and then I lowered my cheek, and the simple pleasure of lying like this nearly broke me right open.

About the Author

From a young age I could always be found carrying around books to read while watching my grandmother’s soap operas with her. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on and even made up skits and stories for my friends and me to act out. Once I outgrew the children’s and YA books, my mom introduced me to an entirely new world – contemporary romance. Upon discovering I had a love for history I began devouring historical romances. One day, sitting in a college British History class, something the professor said made me think, I wonder. I quickly called mom (also a writer) and ran the idea by her.
