Throwback Thursday--Drakon's Promise

Since I'm working on edits for the fifth book in the Blood of the Drakon series today, I thought I'd showcase Drakon's Promise, the first book of the series. :-)   Drakon’s PromiseBlood of the Drakon, Book 1 Darius Varkas is a drakon. He's neither human nor dragon. He's both. He's also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon's blood can cure any illness and prolong a human's life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it. When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she's quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival. Buy Links:Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N74PYZR/Entangled Publishing: https://entangledpublishing.com/index.php/drakon-s-promise.htmlB &N: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/books/1125114236?ean=9781633758001iBooks: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/drakons-promise/id1176306297Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/drakon-s-promise

Writer Wednesday

Writing is a solitary profession. A writer spends a lot of time sitting in a computer chair typing away at a keyboard. It's an amazing job but not always an easy one. There is always rejection and criticism, no matter what you do.

Emails from readers really help on those days when you have doubts. And occasionally there will be something special like this past week.

Love Romances Café readers voted me Best Author of 2017. They also voted Wolf at the Door the Best Paranormal/Urban Fantasy Book of 2017, and the Salvation Pack series was runner up for Best Series of 2017.

I can't tell you how much this means to me. I am honored and humbled. Thank you to all my readers who voted.

Tuesday Teaser--Wolf at the Door

This past week, Wolf at the Door received the award for Best Paranormal/Urban Fantasy book of 2017 from Love Romances Café.

It's an extra thrill because this book was rereleased last year by my new publisher after the older one closed.

Wolf at the Door
Salvation Pack, Book 1
Gwendolyn Jones is working on an article about werewolves, not that she believes they exist. But there are people out there who do, like the nervous man who slips her a flash drive with information he claims will prove to the world shifters are out there. Gwen starts questioning just what to believe when two very real werewolves come knocking on her cabin door later that night.
Someone has a flash drive with pictures that could endanger his pack, and alpha Jacque LaForge will do whatever it takes to destroy it. But the something deep inside him ignites when he knocks on the door of that “someone”. He didn’t think he’d find a mate, or that when he did, she’d be human. But now that he has found Gwen, he knows he has a fight on his hands to protect her from his former vengeful pack who are out to hurt him by any means necessary. TEASER:  Her fingers were shaking as she dug out the keys and jammed them into the ignition. It took her two tries before they finally slid home.  Something heavy hit the car. Gwen cried out and her gaze flew to the front windshield. Jacque was perched in front of her like some giant hood ornament. He was crouched low with one hand resting on the hood. “Unlock the door, Gwen.”
Like that was going to happen. She turned the key and the engine sprang to life. Louis stood beside the car, shaking his head at her. She prayed they didn’t have any guns, although they could easily use her shotgun against her.  Gwen slammed the vehicle into reverse and hit the gas. Louis managed to jump out of the way before she ran him over. She flew backward down the narrow driveway with Jacque riding on the hood. She turned the wheel hard to the left and he flew off, landing with a heavy thud on the ground.

She almost stopped to see if he was hurt then reminded herself that he and his brother were going to kill her. What did it matter if he was hurt? Still, she was glad when she glanced in the rearview mirror and saw him climb to his feet.

Weekend Book Club--Some Kind of Hero by Suzanne Brockmann

This past week I read SOME KIND OF HERO, book 19 in Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series. If you love military heroes, great action and storylines, and real heroes and heroines who navigate life with all its ups and downs, then you need to read her books.

And if you're familiar with her series, you'll love the cameo appearance from some of the members of Boat Squad John from READY TO ROLL, a Troubleshooters novella. (I love Boat Squad John.)

BLURB:

Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Though he can’t relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though Pete’s lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.

Romance writer Shayla Whitman never expected to be drawn into a real-world thriller—or to meet a hero who makes her pulse pound. Action on the page is one thing. Actually living it is another story. Shay’s not as bold as her heroines, but she’s a mother. She sees the panic in her new neighbor’s usually fearless blue eyes—and knows there’s no greater terror for a parent than having a child at risk. It’s an ordeal Shay won’t let Pete face alone. She’s no highly trained operative, but she’s smart, resourceful, and knows what makes teenagers tick.

Still, working alongside Pete has its own perils—like letting the heat between them rise out of control. Intimate emotions could mean dangerous, even deadly, consequences for their mission. No matter what, they must be on top of their game, and playing for keeps . . . or else Pete’s daughter may be gone for good.

BLURB:

The only easy day is yesterday. BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training is known for being the toughest, meanest, most physically punishing program in the entire U.S. Navy, and a new crop of tadpoles have arrived in Coronado eager to prove their worth—to make it through Hell Week, and become U.S. Navy SEALs.

Although Izzy prefers assignments out in the “real world,” he’s glad to be an instructor for the current BUD/S class, because it allows him to spend time at home with his wife, Eden, and her lively and lovable extended family.

Eden’s sixteen-year-old brother, Ben, is dealing with a new crush and a homophobic bully in his high school, but it soon appears that things are not as they seem.

Meanwhile, Eden’s other brother (and Izzy’s SEAL teammate and former frenemy) Danny Gillman and his wife Jenn have just had a baby who has colic and cries constantly.

As Ben deals with the type of too-serious high school drama that could involve a body count, and Danny and Jenn juggle a new baby, lack of sleep, and postpartum blues, Izzy is intrigued by “Boat Squad John,” a misfit team of young SEAL candidates all named John, including the intriguing young Seagull, his swim buddy Timebomb, and Seagull’s nemesis Hans.

Does Seagull have what it takes keep Boat Squad John still standing when the dust of BUD/S Hell Week settles or will they ring out?

Writer Wednesday

This week, the #UpbeatAuthors asked where we found our peace. I love the beach, but don't get there that often. So I find my daily peace in a good book, a cup of tea...and chocolate.

Where do you find your peace?

Tuesday Teaser: Drakon's Promise

Tuesday Teaser: Drakon's Promise  Darius was at a loss as to what to do. Which was really frigging funny when he thought about it. He’d lived thousands of years, had seen the entire world, dealt with all manner of men, made a vast fortune, and yet he didn’t know what to do with one crying female. It seemed it didn’t matter how long a man lived, women were a mystery.

Tuesday Teaser--Lily's List

LILY'S LIST, book 3 of the Summersville Secrets trilogy.

TEASER:

What did she say? Lily didn’t know what to say. Couldn’t manage a coherent sentence if her life depended on it. She wasn’t totally convinced that she hadn’t fallen asleep at her keyboard and was now having the most amazing dream. Carson Granger, the man she’d lusted over and fantasized about for the past several years, was standing in her kitchen offering himself up for research.

This had to be a dream. Either that or she was losing her mind. BUY LINKS:Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FUXSP2Q/Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/637449Barnes & Noble: http://goo.gl/lvO1gL  Kobo: https://goo.gl/gyXJkZ
