Weekend Book Club--What are you Afraid of? by Alexandra Ivy and Born of Darkness by Lara Adrian

What are you reading this week?

I read WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?by Alexandra Ivy. Great plot and lots of suspense. Lots of twists and turns all the way to the end.

BLURB:

SHE’S LEARNED ALL ABOUT KILLERSThey aren’t the kind of women anyone misses. Truck-stop hookers, runaways . . . no one would even notice they’d disappeared if the killer didn’t photograph their lifeless bodies, posed in the back of a semi-trailer. Exactly like the infamous Trucker murders. But this isn’t just a copycat. It’s a vendetta.

NOW HE’LL TEACH HERCarmen Jacobs interviewed the world’s most terrifying serial killers for her bestselling book, The Heart of a Predator. The police might not believe her, but she knows there’s a monster out there, paying homage to other murderers. The only person who can predict where he’ll strike next is Griffin Archer—a reclusive software millionaire with ample reason not to help her.

HOW TO DIE . . .Carmen has charmed her way past Griffin’s defenses before. He didn’t intend to let it happen again. But with a psycho sending her trophies of his kills, he has no choice but to get involved. The clues point to a killer obsessed with Carmen—someone who knows her work, her past, her secrets. Someone who won’t be satisfied until he has made all her deepest fears come true . . .

I also read BORN OF DARKNESS by Lara Adrian. This is the first book in her Midnight Breed spinoff series--Midnight Breed Hunter Legacy. If you're a fan of her Midnight Breed series, this is a must read for you!

BLURB:

As a former assassin in the Hunter program, Asher is one of a small group of Gen One Breed vampires who survived the horrors of a madman's laboratory and the cruelty of the training that made him one of the most lethal beings in existence. Now, twenty years after his escape from those hellish origins, Asher is a loner whose heart is as cold as his skills are merciless. But when he thwarts a killing under way in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas, Asher meets a beautiful woman who draws him into a deadly game against powerful enemies--one that will test both his skills and his tarnished honor.

Naomi Fallon is used to getting out of dicey situations. Orphaned as a child after her mother's murder, she didn't survive twenty-six years on the street without using up most of her nine lives. But when her latest caper lands her in the Mojave against a Vegas gangster's henchmen, she's certain her number is up. Then he appears--immense, brutal, and far from human. Naomi's never needed anyone's help, least of all one of the Breed. But after one risk too many, only a man with Asher's skills can keep her safe. Yet the solitary, seductively handsome vampire has enemies of his own, and a secret that will not only shatter her faith in him but her heart, proving what she's feared all along--that trust is only an illusion and love may be the sharpest weapon of all.

Weekend Book Club--Fast Burn by Lori Foster

This week I read FAST BURN, part of Lori Foster's Body Armor series. In the series, former MMA fighters are employed as bodyguards.

Foster writes about alpha males who are more than ready to step up and protect the women they care about. But her female characters are more than capable of handling the men in their lives. Great story and action.

BLURB:

The moment Brand Berry meets beautiful, driven Sahara Silver, the connection between them is electric. It’s also something he can’t pursue. Sahara wants him, sure—to join Body Armor, where his MMA skills, size and cocky attitude make him perfect for her elite crew of bodyguards. For Sahara, the agency always comes first, and Brand needs more. Yet when she’s kidnapped by men searching for her missing brother, he doesn’t hesitate.

Somewhere along the way, flirting with Brand for the sake of business turned very personal. Despite his refusal to join Body Armor, it’s Brand who steps up when Sahara needs him most. Now there’s no more time for games, and no point denying the hunger they both feel. They’ll escape together or not at all. But if they survive, can Sahara finally surrender control to claim this blazing passion?

Throwback Thursday--The Seduction of Shamus O'Rourke

I love all my books, but some are more special than others. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for this book. It's a reminder that things aren't always what they seem to be. Sometimes you don't know the whole story. And I just love Shamus!

The Seduction of Shamus O’Rourke Jamesville, Book 4

Her father's death has brought Cyndi Marks back to Jamesville, and she's determined to settle back in her hometown and lay her ghosts to rest once and for all. But not everyone is happy to see her. Every small town has secrets, and Jamesville has secrets some would kill to protect. When Cyndi needs help, there's only one person in town she can trust.

Shamus O'Rourke is happy living in Jamesville. He loves his job, his family, and small town living. All that's missing is someone to share it with. When he runs into Cyndi and helps her with a flat tire, he's drawn to the reserved, wary woman. He's pretty sure the feeling is mutual, even though she tries to deny it.

When Cyndi's life is threatened, just about everyone in town is a suspect, and she's not sure her fledgling relationship with Shamus can stand up to the town and his family's concerns. The only thing she is sure of is that she can't see herself surviving in Jamesville without the younger man.

The calendar may say it's officially spring but it still looks and feels like winter outside. But there is now hope for warmer weather and the first flowers of spring.

Weekend Book Club--No Earls Allowed by Shana Galen

This week I read NO EARLS ALLOWEDby Shana Galen. It's the second book in her Survivors series. This series features wounded heroes and heroines who dare to step outside society norms. Passion, humor, and unforgettable characters combine to create a wonderful story.

I highly recommend Third Son's a Charm, the first book in the series. And I'll be watching for An Affair With a Spare, coming in July.

What are you reading this week?

BLURB:

Lady Juliana, daughter of the Earl of St. Maur, needs all the help she can get. She's running a ramshackle orphanage, London's worst slumlord has illicit designs on her, and her father has suddenly become determined to marry her off.

Enter Major Neil Wraxall, bastard son of the Marquess of Kensington, sent to assist Lady Juliana in any way he can. Lucky for her, he's handy with repairs, knows how to keep her and the orphans safe, and is a natural leader of men.

Unfortunately for both of them, the scandal that ensues from their mutual attraction is going to lead them a merry dance...
