Since I was eight I have been writing stories that capture the adventures in my head and the characters strong enough and flawed enough to have them. When I look at an empty field I see a formidable citadel. When I meet a vulnerable old man, I greet an emeritus warrior. When I walk through city streets I feel dimensions hiding around every turn. It has been my lifelong passion to explore these worlds that reveal the pain of loneliness, the joy or self-actualization, and the hope of magic.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in a place called Potter Valley where the Milky Way is held aloft by a circle of mountains and the central business district consists of a bait store and a saloon. At 19 I moved alone to London and spent the next ten years exploring the world, even becoming an Australian citizen, before I returned to California and found a new home in Los Angeles. My world revolves around my two wee children and my love of travel.
MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE AND EDUCATION
My days are spent in an office overlooking Los Angeles International Airport where I work as a Director of Marketing for a data center technology firm, which wouldn’t make you think I had an MFA in film with an emphasis on writing from Chapman University. However, I also have degrees in visual communications and global communications, which allowed me to work for some of the finest technology firms in the world. In my spare time I have penned six screenplays, four stage plays, an opera libretto, numerous short stories, and five manuscripts for novels. My heart lies with my manuscripts, which are focused on YA and New Adult audiences and range in subject from Vikings in Iceland to Knights Templar in Italy to Aborigine mysticism in Australia to shapeshifters in Los Angeles.

The Beginning
of the EndJune 1, 2006 Baghdad, IraqI leave the Humvee running and step out into the hot street. The intense sun beats down on the back of my neck. Even with sunglasses on it seems obnoxiously bright. Fucking Iraq. Miserably hot, and here we are in the middle of the damn day, out in the worst of it. My M-16A2 rifle feels like an old, familiar lover in my hands. The strangest sense of déjà vu washes over me. “Weird,” I mumble to myself, prying my eyes off of my rifle. I quickly scan the traffic circle, soaking in all of the details. There is no traffic coming through; there’s a Humvee at each intersection, blocking off everything. No way in, no way out. I glance up to Mike in the turret, manning the .50 caliber machine gun. I have known him for as long as I can remember. Mike was my next-door neighbor when we were kids. His mom used to babysit me while mine went to work, and she’d make us peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and then send us right back out to play. She always kept strawberry jam on hand because she knew it was my favorite. Hell, she was practically a second mother to me. He is my best friend. He is more than that— he is my brother.Mike’s back is to me as he watches the Iraqis, making sure none of them try to get into our perimeter. A horn honks and a driver gestures impatiently at the intersection. Mike quickly swivels his machine gun toward the car, silencing both the horn and the driver. I smile. We survived basic training together, then jump school in the stifling Fort Benning heat. We somehow got lucky enough to be stationed together. A sympathetic first sergeant then assigned us to the same squad.I wipe the sweat from my brow. It is instantly replaced as the hot sun beats down on me. One bead of sweat forms on the scar on my hairline and runs down my face, following my jawline down to my chin, where it hangs on stubbornly. I reach up and wipe the sweat from the scar under my helmet, and shiver. My mind drifts for a split second to Mike. I close my eyes and swallow back the lump rising in my throat. Another small shiver runs down my spine despite the heat. I have that feeling you get when you know someone is right behind you and then you turn around and no one is there. When I turn around, I see a car parked on the high overpass we usually cross. My heart starts to beat a little faster and my palms start to sweat more than usual in this awful heat. “I don’t like that fucking car,” I say.“What?” Mike yells over his shoulder without taking his eyes off of the cars impatiently waiting for us to allow them through.“I said I don’t like that fucking car over there.” This time I point at it with my left hand and hold my rifle tightly in my right. “I mean, I have never seen a car parked on that bridge. We almost always cross that bridge. That would leave us nowhere to go but right next to it,” I yell with a frown. “Doesn’t that seem weird?” “Yeah, it is weird,” Mike agrees with a shrug. I glance up at Mike for a moment, just a split second and then back to the car. “I’m telling you I have a really bad feeling—” The car explodes with a deafening roar, shattering the peaceful silence of the afternoon.
The blast lifts me off of my feet and throws me backward into the Humvee. My head slams hard into the door behind me, my helmet bouncing off with a thud. The world spins for a moment and goes dark.

For most people, a visit from their former in-laws is unpleasant at most. If only I were that lucky.
Mine have unexpectedly dropped by, leaving a couple of bodies in little bits and a message in blood as their way of saying hi.
Which is just great. Now I can add one more group to the growing list of nut-bags who want to tuck me in for a dirt nap. Simply put, if the in-laws don’t get me, a dead woman, the Loki, or any one of a legion of mythological beasties just might.
To top it off, I’ve learned that there’s a cosmic war that’s been raging since the dawn of creation, and somehow, I’ve found myself at the very center of it all. I know it's gonna be a hell of a day when death might be the least of my problems.

Biography
Ken Lange is a current resident of the ‘Big Easy’, along with his partner and evil yet loving cats. Any delay, typo or missed edit can and will be blamed on the latter’s interference.He arrived at this career a little later in life and his work reflects it. Most of his characters won’t be in their twenties and they aren’t always warm and fuzzy. He is of the opinion, that middle-aged adults are woefully underrepresented in fiction and has made it his mission to plug that gap.
Translation, he’s middle aged and crotchety.

Where are you from? I moved around a lot when I was younger, but nowadays I live in New Orleans.
When did you know, you wanted to become an author? I started writing when I was still in school, but work pushed it aside until recently.
What challenges have you faced? I’m not sure the challenges in my life are that different than most other people’s, but I will say that trying to balance work and being an author is tough.
What is your favorite part about being an author? Writing the stories I’ve always wanted to tell.
Who is your greatest supporter? My wife, since she’s the one who really pushed me to find an editor and really give the author thing a real chance.
Any advice for someone who aspires to be an author? Be yourself, and find a fantastic editor. I’m lucky to have such a phenomenal one, and it’s made all the difference in the world.
Anything you want to say to your fans? I really hope you enjoy the books.
Coffee or tea? Tea has always been my drink of choice. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of coffee.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Instantaneous healing

When I saw this book was released, I immediately purchased it and dove into it as soon as I got off work. I had the book finished in one evening; I couldn't put it down. If you've read any of Mia's books, you know there is always a sexy alpha male involved and a strong, smart woman. I loved the first three books of Alpha Four, but Thunder stole it for me. The strong silent type, fighting his attraction for Liv through the first three books and finally giving in to love.

From the other books you knew they would end up together, but it was fun seeing their relationship develop. Liv's database was hacked and mysterious messages were being sent to some of her clients. Liv called Thunder and he and his team set out to find the hacker. Once the last message was sent and it was about Liv, Thunder and his team set the trap to catch the hacker, but it did not go as expected. She will stand up but loves it when he takes charge. Love is a powerful thing. It's got everything you want in a good romance book. Heat, sex, fun what else could you ask for.

When I was asked to put together a blog post I was stuck. I’d just finished my first draft of a new series and my mind was still focused on edits and plot. So, I turned to my street team (they are amazing!!) and asked them what they wanted to see me write about. In return they compiled a nice list of questions. Enjoy!Kacey Ables asks: What made you want to write fantasy?I’ve always lived in a fantasy world. Growing up, I was obsessed with the Harry Potter books. Think long lines at midnight in the freezing cold just to be one of the first to get their hands on them (this is before ebooks!) and then staying up the rest of the night to finish the book!!As I grew older and had children of my own I started telling them fantasy stories, dragons, princesses and fairies..etc. Fantasy books and stories have always been a part of my life.Christopher Morgan asks: Where do you get your drive?My kids. They were the ones who pushed me to start writing in the first place. Each time I finish a book they get so excited. They tell everyone and anyone we come across (sorry if you came across my kids at target)about my books.Jemimah Zafoune asks: Coffee or Tea?COFFEE…I drink about a pot a day J Karen Tomlinson asks: How do you organize working, family and author life?I live a crazy chaotic life! Honestly, the only reason I’m able to do all the things I do is because of my husband. He is wonderful. The poor guy has been spending hours each weekend at Girl Scout booths selling Girl Scout cookies with our daughters just so I can get my writing done. He definitely deserves the credit for keeping me and our four kids organized! Kristin Dutt asks: Take on dragons?Who doesn’t love dragons? Once again I can thank J.K. Rowling for making me obsessed with dragons! There is something just so majestic in a mythical creature that possess so much power. They kept telling me that I needed to start a business that the services I was giving to them were a necessity especially to newer authors. Rowling’s books. I think my obsession with Harry Potter is clear J! My next favorite book would have to be Gone With the Wind.
