May your year be a good one!

Well, I can't believe it is already 2016! Last year really flew by so quickly. It seems like as the years pass, they go faster and faster! Maybe it is just because I am getting older :) Anyway, hopefully this year is a good one.. Wishing you and your loved ones the very best!

Happiness...

Happiness is something we all hope for in this world. It seems that some are born into it with their circumstances dictating a happy existence. While others are burdened with hardships which seem to prevent true happiness from happening. You hear of miraculous stories of overcoming in spite of many adversities, yet in each of these cases besides the persons tremendous will to endure, I have found a common factor, a single person that believes in the one trying to rise above their circumstances and that person lends a helping hand. What does lending a helping hand mean in this world? In the past, I have been criticized for helping homeless people by giving them any money, even a dollar. I wonder why as it seems to me if someone is in such a difficult place that they are begging on the street, one dollar from me is not much, in fact, had I the money to give, I would probably do a lot more. However, that is not how our society has come to view it which to me is quite sad. It seems that it is more acceptable to drive by a poor homeless person in your brand new SUV on your way to getting your nails done, while enjoying a coffee, than do a kind deed. Even sadder is kids today are learning to value wealth, power, celebrities and attitude more than morals and doing what is right. How does that change? Can you or I make a difference? As someone who has survived a number of major life experiences, I find it troubling to see such a lack of empathy for your fellow man. If we all simply reached out with loving kindness to those whose lives we can touch with what we can, I believe this world would be a better place and we all could know true happiness.

Slightly Disappointed

Well, there is a new book out and I won't mention the name. It is a cute book & I don't want to take away from the creators of it... But anyway, it was a bit of a let-down for me to see it all over the news and raved over by critics claiming it was the first ever photo-illustrated children's book based on a real-life pet being kind to other animals. That pretty much sums of my Kipnuk Adventure Series which was started many years ago. In fact, my first stories were started in the mid 90s, the first 2 which are due by the Spring and the Kipnuk Adventure Series which was first published in 2013. Granted, I didn't have the funding those folks apparently had and this really has been a grass roots project where I have done everything myself to build the series on a hope and a prayer, so it isn't surprising. It is however disappointing as an artist to do something first and see someone come in later who has more financial backing get the credit. Oh well, back to the drawing board..

Well, just was working and saw the above quote from A Snowy Day had been shared many times as far away as Kenya. Wow.. Had no idea that my words had touched so many people. It really touched my heart. Funny how life works, because I had just been going through a rough time & have been still attempting to follow through with projects like A Snowy Day. Anyway, I had hoped they would touch people's hearts somehow & was so very blessed to see people share the quote. :)

I Hope that you are enjoying the Kipnuk Adventure Series! My original intentions for this book series was to create something that is gentle, fun and tender and similar to books that I had as a child. I've often explained to people that the stories are a cross between Bambi and Clifford. The central theme in each book is kindness, compassion and caring for others. Each story is quite different and as this is a new direction in my life, it has been quite a learning experience. I greatly appreciate reader feedback, so please feel free to share your opinions. Kipnuk Visits Sea Isle

Well, I just finished book IV of the Kipnuk Adventure Series, Kipnuk Visits Sea Isle - Special Edition. In this book, Kipnuk and his friend Joe the Musher leave New York City and head to Sea Isle to visit Joe's Uncle Jerry. It is Kipnuk's very first time seeing the ocean and he makes some great new friends. Hope you enjoy this book! It is a light read geared towards a young audience. Great as a bedtime book!
