Another Teaser!

We’re in the final countdown before the release of FACING FIRE, so it’s clearly time for another teaser, right? In case you’re wondering if Josiah is all work and no play…no.

Some news!

I have a little announcement for those who like male/male romance…I’ve sold two m/m romance books to Bantam – yay! The books center on a team within the Special Activities Division of the CIA (basically CIA special ops). These guys are lethal and very alpha and work undercover. As you might expect, they aren’t always great at personal relationships…which is the fun part for me when writing about them.

The books will be high-action, big emotion with even bigger stakes, romantic suspense with lots of sexy times. If you liked Eli & Wade in the MERCY/ONLY/TAKEN series of books, you’ll probably like these new books.

We’re still working out titles and definite release dates. My guess is the first will come out in late Spring 2016. Stay tuned!

Coming Up…

FACING FIRE comes out in less than a week – YAY!!!! This seemed like an excellent time to post an inspiration photo of my hero, Josiah (Jamie Dornan with especially impressive arms).

The Name Thing…

My first name seems to be a source of never-ending difficulty. It’s HelenKay – all one word and the “K” is capitalized. I know it’s different. It was really different growing up in Lancaster County, PA in the 80s. So much so that the differentness combined with my insecurities (and need not to be different) meant that I didn’t correct people when they got it wrong. I do now. I’m fine with people shortening it to HK (that’s what my brothers call me), but for some reason Helen bugs me. I think it’s because I generally introduce myself by saying, “My first name is HelenKay” and then 9 times out of 10 the response will be, “Hello Helen.” So, in general, I’m admitting this is a pet peeve of mine. We all have them. This is mine.

So with that context, this happened today…

Me: I’ve had an account with this bank for more than 15 years but I noticed over the weekend that someone here changed my name on my account and it’s now spelled wrong.

Bank rep: It says Helen.

Me: My name is HelenKay

Rep: Kay is on here as your middle name.

Me: Yes, I know. I guessing someone thought they were fixing it, but my first name is HelenKay.

Rep: Huh, that’s weird.

Me: I thought so, too. I’m not sure why someone changed it without my okay.

Rep: I mean your name is weird.

Me:

Rep: But I can change it back.

Me: Here’s my license.

Rep: I should really have two forms of ID.

Me:

Rep:Uh, forget that. I can probably make this work.

Me: Yeah, do that.

I’m not sure what expression was on my face but it seemed to terrify the poor teller and get the name changed back. We’ll see if it sticks this time.

Events & Sales!

I know we’re in September and the last quarter of the year (HOW DID THAT HAPPEN???) but I still have a lot for you in 2015. First, I am attending three booksignings:

September 28 – I will be one of the authors attending the Avon KissCon outside of Chicago. This is a ticketed event and you should sign up because it will be so much fun! GO HERE!

October 4 – I am one of the featured authors at the Buns & Roses Literacy Tea in Texas (outside of Dallas). There is one seat left at my table and are a few seats left at other author tables. Join us!

October 31 – I announced this yesterday but it deserves a second shout…I will be signing with Nora Roberts and some other great authors at the Turn The Page Bookstore in Boonsboro, MD. Watch for more info HERE.
