New book!

Sunshine, Tequila & Sea Monkeys is live on Amazon!

I should have spent more time editing, but I've been sitting on this book for years and it was time to move forward. This is Julian's story and it's fascinating that it ended up no where near where it started in the outlining phase. I love that stories will almost write themselves, telling the author where they need to go even if that wasn't the original plan.

Anyways, here's a little taste:
“What are you laughing at, Alejandro?” Julian said slyly hoping to either have guessed correctly or to have Ro correct him with his true name.
“Not my name. Nice try, though.” Ro’s eyes widened as their gooey chocolate dessert was placed between them with two spoons. “Is it too early in our relationship to feed you the first bite?”
“Relationship, huh?” Julian teased and opened his mouth wide, waiting to be fed. Ro spooned him the perfect bite with the right ratio of cake to fudge to ice cream. “Yum. And what are you planning to have for dessert?”
Ro playfully pulled the plate closer to himself and shoved a huge bite into his mouth. Fudge was slowly oozing over his lip from the gluttonous spoonful. Julian reached over with his napkin to catch the stray drops. Ro captured his hand after the cleanup and gently kissed Julian’s knuckles in thanks.
“I would love to have another date with you. What do you say?”

Christmas stories

I was hoping to get two short Christmas stories written this year, but only one got completed. I guess I could probably get the second finished by Christmas. Oh well, it will be for next year or maybe a little holiday cheer in June or something.

This week I'll get 'Squirrels and Christmas Traditions' up on Amazon for .99 and then free during Christmas week. I love this story. It makes me smile just thinking about it!

LOR- flop edits

All of the edits have been completed for Trusting the Flop. It was a really good experience. I have no idea when it'll get posted but I'm equal parts excited and nervous.

LOR 1: update

This has been more challenging than I had expected. Apparently, I do not do well with short time frames. It seems everything that could interrupt my writing has. Family member in the hospital, death in the family of a co-worker, so extra, extra work for me....

I've just spent the last four hours editing and now every word sounds funny and every sentence looks like it needs ten commas. My brain is mush...and I have to be back at work in eight hours to work a ten hour shift.

So...blah, blah....good night...blah, blah, blah

LOR title

"Trusting the Flop"

I learned that the Fosbury Flop (a way of jumping for high jumpers) didn't evolve until the landing pad did, otherwise the jumper would have broken their neck. It must have been scary for the pioneers to trust that the landing pad would catch them safely when they landed on their backs. Love is scary too. You have to trust that your partner will keep your heart safe once you give it to them.

Slow progress...

I have no idea how some authors can write an entire story in a month. I'm 6000 words in for my LOR, but I have no idea how many of those words I'm going to keep. If I were just writing a day or short time period of an already established couple it'd be easier. But I want to tell the story from them meeting to the prompt. And I want it to be cohesive and mostly believable ;) I'm struggling with a few scenes that will determine the overall voice of my story and am not sure which way to go. The deadline is messing with my head, too.

I'm confident that in the end it will be a cute love story but getting there is hard. I just need a cup of tea and a day or two to refocus.

LOR

I did it! I claimed a post! I saw it before I went to work and thought about it all day. The request fit my writing style. I assumed it would have gotten claimed before I checked again and when it hadn't been, I claimed it. It's so scary because the expectations are high and the time frame is short.

At least I have a story outline and character names, but I usually pick the title after it's been written. I let the story lead me where it wants to go.

Any thoughts?

First publish to Smashwords

I recently published a free short on Smashwords. It was an extremely easy process.
It's titled Playing to win his heart, about two guys trying to win tickets to a Seahawk game. It's cute, of course I have to say that since I wrote it. Haha.

I wrote it as more of an exercise than the actual idea of putting it out there for people to read. I didn't do much writing in 2014 and needed to stretch out my writing muscles. It was fun and surprisingly needed. The first draft was terrible, but I was able to work into something I'm proud of. I hope those who have read it enjoy it!

I'm moving!

This summer felt so crazy and I didn't even do anything. We are moving this weekend and I can't wait. I feel like I've been anticipating this move for months. We aren't going far, just changing apartments in our current building.

This is my main excuse for not writing this summer. I'm trying not to be disappointed in myself for not having completed Julian's story yet.

My partner has also started working from home this summer which has put a huge kink in my writing creativity.

Life...I need to remember to not focus solely on the future goals but to enjoy the journey while I'm getting there.
