Olivia Petersen is the new 30 Something of 50 Something!

So many of we women in our fifties still feel young. We identify with our kids, enjoy music look relatively young for our age and still have a lot of life left in us. We are thirty something living in bodies of fifty something!

When I wrote Out of the Box Awakening, I set out to create and develop a character who has devoted her life to her husband and kids, but she as a person was lost in translation. I know that there are a lot of ladies out there who are wives, mothers and partners that have got to relate to this situation. We have feelings and needs, but have had to suppress them or put them on the back burner for the sake of more pressing things :(

I can't tell you how many times I felt like telling my family "Hey! Time out....what about me?" We women go to restaurants where we don't want to eat, we do things we don't really want to do, we forgo having sister time with our girlfriends - all for the sake of our family. And after time, we disconnect and find ourselves lost and searching for the very essence of what we really are. How many times do our families say "What do YOU want to do tonight?"

Olivia Petersen has lived her life just like that. She is a beautiful, youthful woman who thinks she is happy. Superficially she is, but she has lost the nucleus of her being. Only after she is forced to move to Illinois because of her husband's job does she realize that her life up to this point has been less than fulfilling. Her kids are her life and she loves them beyond words, but her relationship with her husband of 30 years is on the decline. Not knowing what to do, she is forced to face her feelings and fears.

In future blogs, I will introduce you to characters in the book I've developed - all of who play an integral part on the road to Olivia's awakening. Awakening to discovering things and feelings she has never felt. These characters help her stand up and stand strong. Some of them are very colorful, but I've attempted to bring out the fact that in spite of the rough and crude exterior, every person has a very personal and vulnerable side and I hope I've portrayed that in the book.

I welcome you to come on this journey with me and invite your comments - in fact I need them!

I was thinking this week of how very lucky I am to have had the talent available to me of people I actually know who are friends or relatives. I didn't have to research and go out into the marketplace to find a graphics artist, a web designer, a photographer or an editor. (Well, the editor's work for me is still in process, so that task hasn't been completed yet)

Book Cover
- The graphics artist who did my book cover is the son of a very dear friend and I've known this young man since the day he was born. When I approached him about helping me with a cover, he was excited and the ideas just kept bouncing from there. God I love creative people!

Website www.jennifertheriot.com
- My oldest son did my website. Very talented as well, he was the one who took it upon himself to get it set up, then called and told me "Mom, I took the liberty of setting you up with a website. Take a look and let me know what you think" Needless to say, I was stunned and so proud! Of course, I had to throw my two cents in and requested a few minor changes, but I think he did a wonderful job and have received a lot of compliments.

Photography
- oh my God! The young lady who did my head shots is a close friend of my daughters (Well, she's my friend too) and I've known her since she was in kindergarten (Now a beautiful 29 year old woman). She came to my home and shot a whopping 400 pictures. I'm in awe of her talent and how she makes taking pictures look so easy, although I know different.

Editor
- Another interesting tale. The woman who is doing my editing contacted me on Facebook and said she heard I'd written a book and would love to read it. She is probably the most brutally honest woman I know, so was reluctant to ask what she really thought about the book. I texted her and asked if it was an editor's nightmare. She quickly responded with "It's an editor's dream!" She complimented me on the content, characters, emotions, etc and then set into what she would like to accomplish with her editing. She is a wealth of knowledge and everytime I meet with her I'm like a sponge absorbing everything she says, appreciating her candidness and honesty. She is working very dilligently to get final editing done by June 18.

The way things have progressed and fallen into place makes me realize that this whole process was meant to be....and I'll never take for granted the fact that I am so blessed to be in the company of such talanted people!

Thank you!

The book, Out of the Box Awakening, which has been my passion for the past few months has finally been released on Amazon!
Am curious from the readers just how you like the characters! Some of them are crude, rude, tattooed dudes, but definitely contribute to the story.

As you read, please let me know your thoughts on the characters. I've tried to make each one unique.
In my mind, I have the characters pictured, so am curious as to how the readers relate and picture the characters. Who do you think is Ash, Olivia, Tommy, Todd and the rest of the bunch?

I've also included a playlist on my website www.jennifertheriot.com which was my inspiration for writing!
