#HNY2015 – Read Why Love Wears a White Stetson and Why There’s a #FortuneBrawling
2014 is officially gone……adios….bye bye…end of story.
It is now a new year. The door to 2014 has closed, BUT the door to 2015 is just waiting to be opened, walked through and explored to the fullest.
I thought I had done quite a bit of exploring in 2014, but 2015…..you just hide and watch! To coin the words of Bachman Turner Overdrive, “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”!
I’ve had so many new opportunities come into my life and I cannot wait to start working on them. Do I have self doubts? Of course I do. I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t.
So many of us are afraid of new challenges – or could it be that we don’t want to spend time taking the time to figure it out. We get comfortable living status quo and tend to get stagnate…much like stale water in a pond. Homeostasis accurately describes it in scientific terms I suppose.
I’m going to challenge each and every one of you….why don’t we all agree to ignite from the sparks of last night’s fireworks and carpe annum! Seize the year and make 2015 the year of exploration.
Vow to explore new things. Step out of the box and do something different to make our lives better and more enriched. It may be something as simple as a new hairstyle or something as complex as re-evaluating a relationship. Whatever it is, let’s make the most of what 2015 has to offer.
Speaking of opportunities, let me introduce you to Hunter S. Jones, and something called Fortune Brawling.
To preface, this is an opportunity that came my way in 2014 and has carried over into 2015. Am I gonna carpe annum on it? To quote a character from the soon to be released book ‘Fortune Brawling’, “Yeah, HELL Yeah!”

For many of us, the last few years have held too much pain and many sorrows. There is always the dream that maybe…just maybe…dreams do come true. A new year beckons. Possibly, this will be the year we have waited for.
Fortune Brawling: The Story of Dallas Fortune . (The Fortune Series Story 2.) is set to be released in March 2015. THE BARTENDER
The cell phone rang at the exact time the email had stated. Nervously, I punched accept and answered.
“Hello?”
“Hello, please hold the line for Mr. Jordan Simmons.” With a click I was placed into a world of elevator music, wondering if this would be a good call or a bad call. Dallas won’t accept any calls from me or answer my emails. If I could talk to her, we could get this all going the right way. We don’t need lawyers or receptionists or elevator music. All we need is to see each other one more time. I will let her know the truth and we can have a real chance at happiness. If she will just give me that one chance I can explain everything.
A man’s voice brought me to reality. “This is Jordan Simmons calling you from Nashville, Tennessee. Our call will be recorded, as part of the legal procedure we are pursuing. In order to keep our discussion brief, please only answer the question you are asked. Do you understand?”
“Yessir.”
“Your full legal name please?”
Thomas Garrett Vanderfleet IV”
“Address?”
“238 Lookout Lane, Sand Mountain, Alabama 35951.”
“Occupation?”
“Currrently unemployed but…”
Please, only answer the question you are asked, Mr. Vanderfleet. Understood?”
“Yessir, I do.”
“Where you at Bud’s, located at 13786 Ringgold Road, Trenton Georgia 30752 on the night of March 31 of this year?”
“Yessir, I was there.”
“Did you meet a female by the name of Dallas Fortune?”
“Meet her? I married her!”
“Mr. Vanderfleet, may I call you Tom?”
“Yessir.”
“We’re going to follow a logical process of questioning here. Got it Tom? I ask the question you in turn will answer the question and nothing more. Do I make myself clear? Do you understand?”
“Got it, Mr. Simmons. I’m just all emotional like over this.”
“A completely human emotion, Tom. You’ve had a bit of excitement in a short amount of time. I’m here to help you get it all unraveled so that you can get on with your life.”
“What if I don’t want to get on with my life? At least not without her.”
A pen tapped on the table, with the tapping mirroring my heartbeat. After a pause, Jordan Simmons said, “Look Tom, Dallas is something else and one helluva woman, but I assure you, man-to-man, there is not a force on the planet that will make a woman stay with a man once she’s made up her mind to go. Now, I know that from personal experience. Once they’re ready to go, there is no way on earth to make them stay. This is off the record, by the way. No amount of money, flowers or gifts will do it. I know. Hell, I’ll be working til I’m eighty years old. I’ve got two ex-wives, three kids, a 28 year old girlfriend, well actually two 28 year old girlfriends, and I will never make any of these women happy. Look what Liz Taylor did to Richard Burton. He gave her the biggest diamond in the world. Didn’t work. She keeps the diamond. They’ve got what we want. If you get in too deep, you get addicted not only to IT, but to her. Those smart ones work on a man just like heroin or whiskey. You can’t get over IT and you can never get enough of IT. Sounds as if Dallas gave you a big dose of IT. Maybe more IT than you have ever had. Probably the best IT you have ever had. But, I guarantee you, once they decide they are over you, it’s done, it’s over, it’s like Rover and it’s dead all over. Now, can we get on with this? I ain’t got all day.”
“All right Mr. Simmons. You’re a little high strung, but I get your drift. Let’s get on with the questions.”
“To recap; you were at Bud’s on Friday night, March 31, earlier this year. While you were at Bud’s you met a female named Dallas Fortune. You can call me Jordan, if you’d like.”
“Yessir, I did. Thank you Jordan.”
“If you will Tom, please state what type of establishment Bud’s is.”
“Bud’s is what we call here a honky tonk. It has music, alcohol and Bud’s has the best fried boloney sandwiches in the Chattanooga area. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s there’s dollar beer night from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Wednesday is Ladies Night. All women get in free.”
“Sounds like my kinda place, Tom. Now, tell me what you believe happened that night.”

Before the driver could pull the car out of the parking lot, Jillian was talking a mile a minute. Paige seemed to be following it all, but Erin felt lost while she watched them banter like a tennis match.

Jillian leaned toward Erin to lay a manicured hand on her knee. “I’ve waited almost forty years for my son to get married. This is one event that will not be downplayed if I have anything to say about it.”
Erin felt her eyes begin to lower under the intensity of her future mother-in-law’s stare. Paige nudged her knee, which reminded her that submitting to one Masterson was quite enough.
“Surely you’ve got some ideas, Erin? A general time frame and colors, for instance.”
The young woman’s thoughts went to the ink encircling her waist. It captured her heritage, the red and green braiding a permanent reminder of her Irish roots.

For accents, I was thinking red and green. Oh, and for flowers,” she smiled at the secret she shared with her Dom, “I’m pretty sure Jayden will want orchids.”
“Good, keep going.” A notepad had materialized in Paige’s hands, and she was scribbling at a furious pace.
Erin shook her head in amusement. “I like roses, too, so maybe we can combine them?” She continued to ponder aloud. “As for when, that will all depend on when Jayden can take time off from work—”
“My dear child, that boy would move mountains for you. If you have a special date you want, I assure you that business will not keep him from making it happen.”

Up Today is the ‘Unforgettable’ Angela Ford…..
Here is my review of CLOSURE:
I started the book last night and couldn’t wait to get home tonight to finish it! It is a real page turner and a quick fast paced read . Jess is a young beautiful FBI agent who is working on an Internet case trying to find a killer. Her parents were tragically murdered ten years ago and she is trying to come to grips with that while working on this intense case. Coupled with that is the fact that she has feelings for her boss Tom, who like her has been hiding his true feelings during their tenure working together. After her folks died, Jess threw herself into her work, putting her life and happiness on the back burner. Tom, divorced with a teenage daughter has done the same after striking out in his failed marriage and relationship with his daughter . Working on this case, trying to find this Internet predator who is killing people, Jess comes face to face with the killer , escapes and he finds her. Unbeknownst to her, he is a character from her past. Follow Jess , Tom and the rest of the FBI team as they search for the UNSUB and in the process two people find a love that has been brewing for years. I loved the suspense of the story and the vivid descriptions of the setting and characters make for a delightful read.

The woman finished placing her order and waited patiently at the bar, casting her long lashes down as if she were uncomfortable with all the people surrounding her, especially the drunken idiots sitting at the bar next to her. The guy closest to the end leaned backward as he laughed hard at something his buddy said. I watched in disgust as he lost his balance and began to fall sideways off his stool. In the process, he slammed into the beauty standing next to him, causing her to lose her balance. She reached out to try to grab onto something, but her flailing arms found nothing but air. Instinctively, I reached out and caught her around the waist and pulled her toward me and away from him. She was such a light little thing I inadvertently lifted her onto my lap. She landed on my thighs with a little ‘umph’ as she grabbed my waist for balance. Unable to help myself, I inhaled her sweet scent – almost like vanilla with a touch of cinnamon; not like that strong, sense-clogging perfume used by so many of the women I knew.
“Whoa, you okay there?” I asked her.
“Oh, my gosh! I’m so sorry…” She stopped talking as our eyes met for the first time. Or at least I didn’t hear anything else. Her voice was almost like honey, soothing and quiet, calming my tired soul like a comfortable blanket. My mind went blank when I looked into her beautiful hazel eyes. There was no hidden agenda in the green and gold specks that broke up a warm brown, just a genuine look of gratitude alongside a certain wariness. Wearing a dark blue pair of jeans and a white button down shirt, she was much more modestly dressed than the blonde I’d sized up of a few moments ago. A sparkly pink scarf decorated her neck hinting that beneath the conservative exterior there was a spark of playfulness. To me, she was much more attractive for leaving something to the imagination, although pressed against me as she was, I didn’t need to imagine the full curves underneath those clothes.
Her eyes darted across my face and she appeared to be appraising me as well. She focused on my eyes as though she could see into me if she looked hard enough. Her look drew me in. I wanted to pull her closer and go ahead and let her see inside, feeling as if she could soothe all the pain and anger I tried to keep locked up. At the same time, I wanted to hold and protect her from whatever caused that look of caution, almost fear, that abounded in her eyes.
What the hell just happened to me? I had never had these thoughts before. She noticed my intense gaze and her cheeks began to turn the cutest shade of pink. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen a woman blush; usually they were so forward I was the one who was embarrassed for them.
“Thank you for catching me,” she said. “That might have ended badly otherwise.”
My mind snapped back to attention when she began to push off of me. I doubt she noticed, but her second hand had settled on my crotch when she landed in my lap, and the gentle pressure she was asserting had it starting to rise and twitch in anticipation of more.
I grabbed her wrist gently. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you not to push too hard there.”
She tilted her head sideways, not immediately understanding my words until I gestured with my eyes at our hands. I knew the instant she figured it out because her pink cheeks turned bright red and she jerked her hand away.
“Oh,” she gasped. “I…I’m so, so sorry!” she said as she carefully crawled off me.
“Trust me, it was my pleasure,” I teased, glancing at my lap.

M.E. Montgomery has been an avid reader her entire life, and her Amazon account will attest to that fact! Recently, several voices began telling their own stories in her head. After being assured she wasn’t crazy and this was the sign of an emerging novel, she decided to put her fingers to work and started typing, and with lots of encouragement, decided to share Alex, Kayla, and Aiden’s dramatic and heartwarming tale.

LUCY LIT’S WORK IN PROGRESS
How did you come up with the idea for your new WIP?
The concept came when I was revising my first book, 42 Rue de Jardin. My husband (Garage Guy) and I were driving to the beach for our annual vacation and a secondary character from Rue (Stoney Carrington) started jabbering at me, telling me his story and how it intersected with the protagonist, McKenna Beaumont. I stopped talking to Garage Guy, pulled out my notepad and began scribbling. Two hours later, I had the outline when Stoney paused for air.
What excites you most about this project?
I love seeing a strong female learning her strength is not diminished by allowing others to share her life. Plus learning more about tantra has been exciting. You can interpret that how you wish.
What is your least favorite part in beginning this new book?
Insecurity and fear I won’t do justice to the characters who have entrusted me with their story.
What character do you think you connect with most?
I connect with McKenna as a ‘take charge, doesn’t need anyone else’ type because she can handle things on her own. Except she’s wrong. People are not meant to live in a vacuum and accepting help doesn’t make you weak. Connecting with others is vital to who we are as a species. I struggle with that on a daily basis – just like McKenna.
Have you found any plot twists that you were not expecting so far? Is the story basically the same now as it was when you first started writing it?
Both of these questions can be answered at the same time. When I started, I knew who the “bad guy” was but as he told his story, my feelings changed. Consequently, I had to dig deeper and find out the reality behind my initial misconceptions. It was quite a shock to me. So the story changed at that point. Also, McKenna has arachnophobia (fear of spiders) and after the first draft was finished, I realized she needed to confront her phobia where it originated. The final third of the story was scrapped and rewritten. Both McKenna and I are much happier with the result. 
What has been the hardest part to write so far, don’t give us spoilers but let us know what you have struggled with.
The scenes dealing with the meaning of family as seen through the eyes of McKenna’s daughter Elly. They tug at my heart and still make me cry. I hate crying over a story. Goes back to my take charge, don’t need anyone personality. Yeah, it’s a serious flaw of mine. Even though I’m a grandmother, I’m still a work in progress.
Do you have any muses that you are using to help the reader picture the characters?
Readers can check out my Pinterest boards for my books. An interesting backstory regarding McKenna – she’s based on an Irish YouTube vlogger I’ve followed for years. One day as I was starting to flesh out the story, I saw a picture the vlogger posted and I was smacked between the eyes. It was my mental vision of McKenna! While authors use celebrity pictures for inspiration all the time, this woman is not in the public eye (except for YouTube). I contacted her and asked if I could use her likeness on my Belle Chene Pinterest board. To my surprise and delight, she agreed.
– Belle Chene is the second book in the Sultry Savannah Series. So far, eight books are in the series pipeline. The next one is already outlined.
– A new quasi-paranormal/romance series inspired by the 1970s TV show Fantasy Island.
– Three standalone novellas are also loosely outlined.
Whew! Not bad for a newbie, huh?

A mutual friend of ours, Dorothy Shaw (author) asked me a year ago if I would be willing to work with a new author. She assured me that Lucy was hard-working and wanted to publish her first book. I jumped at the chance because I was intrigued just from hearing about Lucy from our friend.
When Lucy sent me her WIP the first time, I swear I took two weeks going over it. That is unusual for me. The problem was………….she was such a polished, clean and intelligent writer, we had to make some movement in the information but it was too tight to figure out where to put the stuff. Cullan had a medical issue that I had never heard of but since working with Lucy have come to understand it more. We had to keep the information to inform the readers, BUT we also had to not make her a walking medical label.
Royce, geez she had me falling all over him from the first scene, but she stood firm that he was not going to be one of those “Christian G” men, he was going to be real. She also used her knowledge of Tantra with him which was another thing I learned more about while working with Lucy. She is my one author who will send me a list of questions after I read for her and we go through my answers. I love that, it is a highlight to my job because we “gossip about the characters” and I usually find out she fooled me again with the plot.
So I have been thinking how I explain Lucy to you readers. I would say she is courageous to strike out and write her first novel at this stage in life. To throw away her fears and insecurities and put her work out there inspires me. She is brilliant with her plots, you don’t get just a romance, you have a very intelligent, detailed mystery in every story. Her WIP we are working on now stumped me as to the conclusion. She gives you real issues that you may never have heard of before and she weaves the knowledge she wants to share into the story, making the reader learn about the topics without really knowing it. The number one thing I am amazed at is she is telling the world that intimacy and desire does NOT die after the age of forty and if it has then you need to reclaim it. Her characters are all middle-aged, dealing with the real issues a middle-aged person deals with BUT they have passion and fire still inside of them. Sexy never dies, people just kill it sometimes because they forget the real woman and man inside of them, behind the labels of work, parenthood and spouse. Lucy wants to bring the sexy back and I am not talking just sex. She wants her readers to feel confident, loved, powerful, desirable and most of all informed that life doesn’t stop because something happens to you. If you are still breathing you are still living…….now get to it and make it the best life you can.
Biography
After a long career in business ownership and consulting, I wrote the first of the Sultry Savannah Series to show that romance, sex and tantra can be enjoyed at any age. After all, we older folks still enjoy the steamy side of life, right?I live in South Carolina with my husband (Garage Guy), a persnickety feline (Fred), and dote on my grand-dogs. She looks at me strangely. “Huh?”

She rises up on her knees and then slams down on me taking the rest of me all at once.
“Fuck!” We both say at the same time. I think my eyes just rolled to the back of my head. Jesus, I
wasn’t expecting that. I’m ready to blow at any minute and she does that to me. “Emma, stop. Give me a
minute, please.”
“Give you a minute. I thought you wanted me to ride you, Caleb?”
The little minx. “Yes, I do want you to ride me, but if you keep doing that, this is going to be over
before it even starts.”
She gets this sexy smile on her face. “See, I don’t think you give yourself enough credit Caleb. I’ll
agree that there are times when I want it to last forever, but there are times that it doesn’t matter how
long it lasts, just as long as the ride to the top is worth it.”
Cocking my head to the side, “Oh, really?”
She nods her head. “Yes, really.”
“Well then, I guess you better hang on for that ride.” I wrap my arms around her, holding her
tight so she can’t move and thrust up hard. She’s in the perfect position for what I have planned.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I reside in Illinois. I’m married to my best friend and we have two beautiful children. I have a few books published right now and a few more in the works. There’s always something in my WIP folder that needs completed. Sometimes the stories just pour out of me and sometimes they start out that way and then stop. I was not working with Mary when she wrote this book, but we have spent many hours talking about the story of Lyla and I have read every book in the series. I think the most important message I want to make to the readers is that when you pick up this book, you are holding a piece of Mary Palmerin’s heart and soul. She “bleed” her heart out onto those pages knowing it was going to offend some readers but she maintained her focus on trying to reach out to the silent reader who lives this pain.
I have stated more often than not, that within the first five minutes of meeting Mary at a book signing it was clear to me her writing wasn’t a career, it was a passionate drive to be the voice for the silent. Yes this series will rip your heart out and will make you want to run and panic, BUT there are real women out there who live this daily. They can’t ignore the situation, they can’t run and panicking will more than likely leave them dead. Mary wants to bring awareness to those who can help spread the word and stop the silence and I am so proud of her for doing this.
It takes a great amount of courage to open yourself up as an author to such emotions, only to have to turn them off or try to calm them so you can go back to role of mother and wife. I know for a fact Mary has been haunted by Lyla and her ordeal. Her empathy for this character never leaves her as she carries on her own life at work and at home. I can hardly wait for you to read the book she is working on now. On some levels Gwen is going to be draining Mary of her emotions just as Lyla did, but in no way are they the same character. Mary is taking each step she makes farther into the genre she holds the most passion for, the kind that makes the reader stop and think, then want to jump into action to make the changes society needs.

Let me start by introducing you to some of the most original and endearing characters I’ve met within the pages of this incredible read!
Rosalyn – A beautiful, quirky 60’s fashion savvy young woman who has an insatiable addiction to music from the sixties. She is complex but you’ll learn why she can’t let go of her feelings…..trust me. And the fact that she dances to her own tune and doesn’t give a flip what anyone else thinks makes her all the more lovable!Jacqueline – Rosalyn’s best friend and roommate; total opposites but nonetheless a true friend who has been through thick and thin with Rox. She has Rosalyn’s best interests at heart and is very protective of her. A great friend to have.Niles – OMG! Mr. Dreamy in my book! This dapper man had my heart from the moment he was introduced. Hands down, suave, educated, handsome, a tad quirky and mysterious. All the makings of a dream book boyfriend.But WAIT! What about Peter Lane? The rock god from days past….Summoned by Rosalyn on her ouija board who came to be a huge part of Rox and Niles. Peter was definitely dessert for my second book boyfriend in the book. With Peter, though I will have to say he has a side to him that makes you want to slap him upside his head at times…he can be such a devious smart ass! And there are times in the book where he has no business being present in a certain ‘situation’..hehe!I just can’t say enough good things about this book! The author is a master (mistress, should I say) at writing in different POV and incorporating them to where you don’t miss a thing and the flow from one POV to the next is simply lyrical.
Rosalyn, Niles and Peter end up being kindred spirits and work together to achieve a very important mission. I’m not going to list any spoilers so you’ll have to trust me on this one.
Successfully experiencing every emotion in a book for me is what determines a good read – this book did just that. I can honestly say that I cried while reading several pages of this book – heart, gut wrenching tears and I honestly did NOT see it coming and I didn’t want this book to end.
So with no spoilers and a warning to have a box of tissues next to you, it is my distinct pleasure to give this book a well deserved FIVE GROOVY, VINYL, FAR OUT Peace Loving Stars!! Well done Ms. Rinella!

This was an absolute blast to work on with Diane. At first we were stumped because we just couldn’t get the feel for the female character but once the doors opened, we were flooded with her emotions. From the smell of the record stores that she lived for, to her struggle to be herself in a world that never understood her. Rosalyn cherished the days when the music was great and the times were free, but now she was going to face her love of the past crashing into the present day that disgusted her.
Niles was a mystery to me most of the time but once Diane filled in the missing pieces for me, I was amazed at the brilliance in her work. I won’t lie and say he was my favorite character in this book but man once he started letting go and guiding Diane, he became a lovable person that had me smiling and laughing.
Now the one I adored working with the most was Peter. Oh Lord he had me laughing and falling in love with the 60’s music all over again. Through the laughter though, he had a message that needed to be spoken and it broke my heart as Diane uncovered his past. I once asked Diane how she came up with this and she told me that without disclosing names, she had been told that things like what you will read about actually happen back then and her research confirmed it. Once I knew this was for the most part NOT fiction, it made me love Peter even more.
I would highly recommend this book for the simple fact it is one of a kind. I read many books and I have yet to find one that even comes close to being similar to this one. The plot is unique, quirky and engaging and I am very proud that I had the chance to work on it with Diane.

I was born in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri named Bridgeton. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, and played kickball and endless games of hide and seek with the neighborhood kids.
Spending summers in Kentucky with my grandmother, Ruth, are the fondest childhood memories for me.
At the age of thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! That was interesting. Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm with twenty-eight cows purchased from the humane society because they had been abused was interesting. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of breeding and feeding schedules, the never ending haying in the summer, and trying tostay warm in the winter. Our first winter in Wisconsin we had thirty-six inches
of snow in one storm and were snowed in our house for three days! Needless to
say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.
I am now married with four children and three grandchildren. I have learned to
love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are
beautiful, and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites
and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are
interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At every
gas station, restaurant, and hotel, we have people come up to us and ask us
about what we are doing as well as offer advice on which roads in the area are
better than others.
