A Glory Story

Hey friend,

A glory story— that’s what my bestie calls a story that has God fingerprints all over it. This one is about God showing out at the end of this year’s 30 Days of Thankfulness Drive and it has four great takeaways for all of us! You can watch it on Youtube, or listen to The Story Table podcast on your favorite podcasting platform like iTunes or Spotify. And as always, I’m including an audio link below if you want to stay right there.

Merry Christmas! ~Hugs, Shellie

The Beloved Farmer Decorates, Kinda, and a Gift just for you!

Hey friend! I really did mean to write to this fine community before Thanksgiving, but — life just keeps coming! That’s all I’ve got for you by way of explanation, and I have a feeling that’s enough. Y’all are gracious like that. I’m currently recovering from the Turkey Day festivities around here and considering decorating for Christmas. Considering being the key word. There were Thanksgiving photos taken but I’ve yet to weed through them and since you know what we all look like, I decided...

Have Yourself a Meaningful Little Christmas

The message fell into my heart weeks ago and stayed with me, “Have yourself a Meaningful Little Christmas.” I didn’t know what I was meant to do with it, but I determined to listen. I’ve learned if I’ll value God’s inside voice, He’ll elaborate.

Granted, I recognized the gentle spin of the lyrics from the old Christmas classic.  I’m not that dense. But any meaning beyond that was fuzzy. I figured it was either a personal invitation from the Lord, or something I was called to offer others. I reme...

Blessed People Bless People

Hi! If you’re a new friend, welcome! If you’re a long-time reader, welcome back. *SMILE*

Those of you in the second group will recognize November 1st as the kickoff date for our annual fundraiser, a time when we come together in this community to pool our little bits and do a lot. Because of you, blessings are still being enjoyed by people near and far. An orphanage we built is still actively serving children and a well our drive funded is still supplying fresh drinking water to people who depen...

COVER REVEAL!

It hit me like a ton of bricks! I revealed the cover of the new book on social media a full month ago now– and I didn’t share it with y’all. That’s a HUGE fail on my side of the screen. I owe this community an apology. Forgive me. Please. Many of you have been with me for decades now and many of you have signed on very recently, but either way, I want you to know that I treasure your engagement with me here and one of the ways I try to prove it is by sharing news here, first. Now, if I’m forgive...

Road trips and Randomness from Shellie

Hey friend, it’s an absolutely gorgeous day from where I sit on the back porch. Grabbing a photo here for illustration. Granted, it’s taken through the screen, but I feel like you’ll still be able to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation with me.

Hank, who also goes by Hankster the Prankster, Hanky Panky, and a host of other ridiculous monikers I’ve tagged him with and he begrudgingly endures, is engaged in his version of working hard at my feet. I give you Illustration B:

Frankly, it feels slap ...

Welcome back to the Story Table — Lend Me Your Ears, Friend

Hello friend, it’s a beautiful evening here on the banks of Lake Providence, LA. The wet weather that’s been hanging over us for a couple weeks now has finally broken. Thank you, Lord! The beloved farmer hasn’t made it in, but when he left at lunch he was hoping they’d be able to find a dry spot to kick #harvest2022 back off again.  We’ll see. Regardless, this family will continue to trust God. One of the greatest helps in present trials is remembering God’s faithfulness to us in the past. So, w...

Engaging the World

I wrote about coming home from the first ministry event of the 2022 speaking season here. But, I have a lot more to say about our stay at Orange Beach and what Father God is teaching me about engaging the world with the love of Christ. I share it with hopes that it can help you share your faith in the One true God, too!

My friend Dr. Joneal Kirby of Heartfelt Ministries traveled with me. You can read more about Joneal’s ministry here.  She’s a lot of fun. Here’s an example of what we called o...

When God Has a Question for You

Hello friend, greetings from my back porch where I would not be stationed were it not for the breeze from the ceiling fans! I dearly love writing outdoors but the August humidity in Louisiana is legendary and today is no different. It showered briefly earlier and it’s trying to build up again. I’d give up and ask the Good Lord to send it on down, but we’ve just started harvesting and we’re hoping He’ll keep the faucets turned off for a few weeks around here. And that thought takes me back in tim...

TOE POPPING IS AN ACQUIRED TASTE or Miscellaneous thoughts from the porch

Hello my friend,

I hope you’re busy squeezing the last big of goodness out of this summer. We are! It’s been several long hot months for us, but glory to God, last night we got 2-4 inches on the farm. We were ecstatic about getting to turn the pumps off and giving everyone a break from watering. Don’t get me wrong, we’re grateful that we can water! There were plenty of years when we weren’t set up to do that and the Beloved Farmer and I had to watch our crops go from promising to parched right ...
