Can you stay right here?"

Technology is an amazing thing, allowing us to be closer to people emotionally when we cannot be physically. Yesterday I was able to be with my four nieces and nephews all at the same time, and it made my heart full. I miss those little squirts.

Tonight, spill the secret: who was your NYE midnight kiss, tag them if you wish, and if you didn’t get a smooch, tell me who you wish it would have been? :)

Text for Tired Eyes:
I will not offer promises, for life spills and stains the intent from time
to time; I will not offer guarantees. I will not speak of resolutions,
of all that needs fixing, in all that I am. I will not speak of where
we went wrong, what we broke, what we did not scream loudly enough
for, or against. I will not speak of the misdoings, I will not speak ill
of those that were filled will ill will. I will say this, of the year that
is to come, and I will mean the words I say:
I will be more. I will be louder for truth and I will not abide
the evil of indifference or apathy. I will lend my voice to those
who cannot find theirs, or do not know the ways
to speak loudly enough for the causes they believe in. I will
leak gentleness and compassion when stabbed by the harsh
and tender lacking; I will bleed beautiful and honest blood
for all that deserves it. I will watch as these hands hold more
and push away less, as they soothe the aches, skin buried
or soul wearied, they find in people. This will be a year of
defiant regeneration and immaculate creativity. A year of
letting loose the tightly wound in me, the delicate uncoiling
of things long ensnarled around this quietly beating heart.
I will be more, and I will strive for nothing short
of illumination; the bright shining of light into
the darker spots in me, but more, I will strive to shine that light
onto everyone who feels theirs has gone out, all those that
forget the stunning shine of their own spirit.
Come now hours, come days and months, come and
settle the storm we’ve been enduring. Come,
and with you bring
relief.

"Here we start again,
all new in beautiful ways,
fresh and full of love."

We are newborns to this year, all of us, eyes just opening,...

We are newborns to this year, all of us, eyes just opening, screaming into the 364 days to come. We are new, fresh, and we can learn to be, again. Let us start innocently, let us learn together. Let us remember how to crawl again, before running, let us help each other along the way. Let us share, and remember the importance of it, let us play, unashamedly and with anyone, anywhere, no matter the differences between us. Let us See those differences, recognize them as children do, and embrace them irregardless. Let us love. Openly. Freely. All who enter our lives. All, even those that might not have earned it. They need it too, you know, they may need it more. We are newborns to 2017. Lets begin it with our new arms raised into new skies, in simple worship of old stars, some long since extinguished. Let’s begin it laughing. Together.

Happy New Year everyone. I wish for you the best of all years,...
Happy New Year everyone. I wish for you the best of all years, filled with all the emotions that fill a heart. Let us be the best versions of ourselves, and watch the world change as we become them. Here was today’s poem, Typewriter Series #1740, read aloud by yours truly. Apologies for my odd voice, I have been welcome a cold into my life, and will soon see it go.

Text for Tired Eyes:
This was a new book, this year, one we never
intended on reading, and these, the final pages,
this, the final paragraph. I know this story
needs a new direction, I know we need
new heroes, and I know we are ready
to write new words. Please don’t slam
the cover when midnight finds the hour,
please don’t burn the paper of it all,
for there were beautiful sentences,
hiding, in the literature we just endured.
Offer your goodbyes to the characters
stolen from us, blow kisses to the sky
and worry not about them landing;
they will land. Stand, when a minute
passes beyond the celebratory hour,
and sturdy your shoulders, prepare your
hand for writing, prepare your heart for
words. We will not be written this way
again, we will not be erased.
We are the heroes if we believe it
so, we are filled with magic undiscovered.
We
are the authors of this new story,
so let our words be fierce,
so let our words
be true.

and we’ll have triumphant joy.
We’re bigger than both."
and we’ll have triumphant joy.
We’re bigger than both.”

2016 was a wild year, one many would love to forget, but we cannot forget that it’s the bad times as much, if not more, than the good times that shape us into the people we are, the people we will become. We lost many, we are marching forward into an unknown future, but we are still here, we are still breathing and life is coursing through our veins. Let us say Farewell to a troubled year, and instead of simply hoping for a better one to come, let us Be better and shape it into what it deserves to be.
