Red Dust Dreaming...

Please welcome the lovely Eva Scott, to share an excerpt from her new rural romance: Red Dust Dreaming. In the battle of duty versus desire, only one can survive the hot Australian sunshine. Picture BLURB: Elizabeth Langtree has her life in order – safe, organised, planned. Sure, she has her troubles, but they are nothing she can’t handle. Then everything is turned upside down when her family send her to Australia to collect her orphaned nephew.

It all seemed so simple in New York, but Australia is nothing like she expected, and she soon falls under the spell of the Outback – the station, the lifestyle, and the seriously sexy owner who has been caring for Luke since the death of his mother.

Elizabeth soon discovers that what seemed simple a world away is anything but, and her duty is at odds with the dictates of her heart. She must choose, knowing that a mistake will not only cost her everything, but destroy the future of a devastated little boy. Excerpt:
“You know it’s wrong to put those ideas into Luke’s head, don’t you?” Elizabeth hissed at him from across the table.   “Don’t look at me.” He raised his hands in mock surrender. “All of that came from your sister.”

“New York smells and there are no horses?” She folded her arms across her chest and glared at him with those blue eyes.

“Okay, so that bit was me,” he admitted.

“And I bet you think it’s all very funny, don’t you?” She glowed with a strange kind of beauty when she was fuming.

“You’ve got that wrong, sister. This isn’t a joke to me. This is war. You’re trying to take Luke away from the only home he’s ever known to give him to people who his mother spent her life trying to get away from.” He leaned towards her, palms pressed flat against the table.

Elizabeth pushed her chair back and stood up. “You’re the one who’s got it wrong, buddy. And if you cared so much for my sister and her son why didn’t you marry her and adopt him?”

Caden’s chair scraped loudly on the floor as he rose to his feet. “My relationship with Angela is none of your business. She lived her life the way she wanted to.”

Elizabeth gasped in outrage. “What are you implying?”

“Implying? Nothing at all. I’m not implying anything I’m saying it plainly. She ran away from your dysfunctional family and made a new family here with us. We’re Luke’s family, maybe not by blood but sometimes blood just doesn’t matter.” He noticed he’d walked around the table to face her. When had he done that?

“I live my life the way I want to.” She narrowed her eyes, her fists were balled up at her sides. Unless he was mistaken she was sizing him up.

“Right, sure you do. You did whatever Mummy and Daddy wanted. I bet life is just peachy. Well it wasn’t, to hear Angela tell it.” Caden really hadn’t meant to start this fight. If he could take it all back he would but the words just kept pouring out of his mouth uncensored. He had to stop before they both all went too far.

“My childhood wasn’t so great either but I made the best of it. Angela rebelled every inch of the way and look where that got her!”

“What exactly are you implying?”

“I’m not implying anything. I’m calling it as I see it. She ran away to hide in this godforsaken place and left me to face our parents on my own.” Her hands were on her hips and her cheeks were flushed.  Damn she looked pretty! And that particular fact only fuelled his anger.

“I can’t stop you from taking Luke to New York. Believe me if I could I would. Just ask yourself this question, if New York is so damned good why did Angela run so far? Why did she deny your parents their grandchild? Why didn’t she tell you she was dying? She had a choice and she exercised it. She chose freedom. Do you really want Luke to wind up as uptight and miserable as you are?” He’d gone too far now. His words whirled about their heads like a flock of startled sparrows. Caden’s heart pounded in his chest. In some strange way he was having Angela’s argument for her, the one she never got to have. He’d heard her side of the story a thousand times and part of him justified his cruel words in defence of Angela.

Elizabeth looked as shocked as if he’d slapped her, and in some way he had – verbally. His bravado evaporated as he looked into her eyes. Fury and pain lurked in their blue depths. He’d ignited both tonight.

“I am not uptight,” she bit out between clenched teeth. She looked so angry, so small and alone in his kitchen there was only one logical thing to do.

He took a step closer, inhaling her scent of sultry summer flowers. “Oh really,” he said before crushing her to him and kissing her with everything he had.

Love London series...

Picture Cocktails in Chelsea Released
19th March 2015

#LoveLondon Series; eBook 4 (Short Story)
by Nikki Moore
Read this exciting romance series set in London, which has attracted four and five star reviews and been in the Top 100 Short Story and Holiday charts on Amazon and Kobo. Picture Made in Chelsea?

Nathan Black is on a mission to prove himself. His family may be upper class and his cousin Matt might be a famous music producer, but he’s going to make it on his own. So as soon as he has enough money set aside, he’s quitting his bar-tending job on the King’s Road and opening up his own cocktail bar. He hasn’t got time for love, and definitely not with the spoilt Chelsea Princesses who flirt with him shamelessly every night. But is there something a bit different about the pretty blonde who’s just walked in?

Bournemouth girl Sofia Gold is reluctantly visiting old childhood friends in London for Easter weekend. Keenly aware she’s not part of their glamorous world, she’s more comfortable riding a surfboard than wearing designer dresses and towering heels… although she’s always had a soft spot for cocktails.

It’s never really bothered Sofia that she’s ‘one of the boys,’ and that her romantic experiences have been amazingly unspectacular, so when she meets gorgeous Nathan, why does she find herself faking an accent and pretending to be a London socialite? It can’t be anything to do with impressing him, can it? After all, she’s only in the capital for a few days…

But one impulsive kiss later, they both find themselves wishing for things they didn’t know they wanted.

Spring in Chelsea – will love blossom?

Advance review, ‘A fun, short read, 4 stars,’ Kim, Goodreads via Netgalley.

An Author's Inspiration...

Today I have the lovely author Jane Hunt on the blog to tell us a little about her inspiration for her fab Dragon Legacy books.

Thank you for inviting me on your blog today Eve.

I'd like to share the inspirations behind- The Dragon Legacy Series. Inspiration Dragons, Lakes and Murder Mystery are the main inspirations for 'The Dragon Legacy'. The Dragon Legacy Series DSCN0618Dragons are my favourite mystical creatures. They are powerful, intelligent, a source of ancient knowledge and magic. Lukas Draco, my hero in The Dragon Legacy is the embodiment of all these things. One of the ancient dragons. He exists in two dimensions; our world in his human form, whilst his true dragon survives in a parallel world, living in deep still water until Lukas requires his powers. The dragons are champions of good and fight against evil demons to protect humanity. DSCN0783 The Lake District has always been popular holiday destination for me. A few years ago I visited Lake Ullswater. In the surrounding hills, it's easy to imagine paranormal creatures hiding in plain sight. This setting inspired me to write the first book. Murder Mystery at Hallows House My fascination with murder mystery is the final inspiration for this story. I love the drama of these events, the dressing up and adopting a new character. My shy Fleur becomes the street wise business whiz, Megan and manages to ensnare herself a dragon. The original draft of The Dragon Legacy contains more scenes devoted to the murder mystery event. I intend to rewrite and post these as flash fiction on #wattpad soon.

THE REVENGE MASQ-LARGE Readers inspired me to write 'The Revenge Masquerade' about JasmineJasmine, an independently minded young woman, destined to be guardian witch and Zane, the street wise wolf shifter. It's great readers wanted to know what happened to these characters after they met them in The Dragon Legacy. The setting for their adventure is Italy. Lake Garda is somewhere I have holidayed in the past and its beauty and charm stay with me. Venice is a romantic city with historical palazzo and piazza ,which provide the perfect setting for mystical worlds to impact on contemporary society. Its hundreds of canals are the perfect media for dragons and it's famous for masque balls and masquerade that feature in my story. L ost love, Reunion and facing one’s destiny are all explored in the story. The Revenge Masquerade Excerpt 2 The story starts one year after Zane leaves. Jasmine is in the Lake District with a new companion and strange mystical dreams.Whilst Zane reaches the final stop on his mission – Venice and is confronted with a new evil. Can he save Larna (Lukas’ the dragon lord’s sister)? Should he contact Lukas and risk the safety of the infant dragon Tarriannah? Has he really seen Jasmine in Venice? There's lots of fast paced action, mystical occurrences and romantic heat.

Spotlight on...

Outback in Stilettoes Today I'd like to share with you the lovely author Ann B Harrison's new book: Outback in Stilettoes. Picture Blurb: The most popular soap on television hangs in the balance because Delilah Connors has lost her mojo. Her agent decides she needs a break.

Delilah disagrees but when her agent says jump, she jumps! She heads for the outback on a bus tour from hell. The coach smells, her seating partner is an octopus and the road leads nowhere she wants to go. It’s all too much.
She grabs her bags and hits the track. The trouble is the track leads to two small children and a widowed farmer. The kids are cute but not cute enough to compensate for an archaic kitchen and the filthy flies. Just when she’s getting the hang of the outback, the flies and that sexy farmer she’s summoned back to the big smoke.

Blake makes a last ditch attempt to plead his case but amongst the glitter and glamour of the Sydney film elite, he is way out of his depth.

Writing Goals: Published versus before!

I’ve noticed that my year actually starts in February, not January. Sure, I try and hit the ground running on the 1st of the 1st, but the problem with January is its ability to whizz by at the speed of light. The speed of light may be how I wish I could accomplish stuff, but the reality is that I tend to spend the first month in the calendar working my way out of the massive food-and-drink stupor I fell into over Christmas.

I still write during January but I also crave To Do lists, admin, and housework. I can’t even begin to think about the whole flying without wings thing that is actually my new writing goals for the year, until I’ve cleared the decks a little.

So now it’s February and my writing goals, as always, falls into two camps: Goals I Can Achieve Easily and Goals That Scare the You-Know-What out of me.

Before I was published, “Get Published” sat squarely at the top of Goals That Scare the You-Know-What out of me—mostly on account of needing to come to terms with feeling the fear and doing it anyway. That whole “What if I fail” factor is pretty big for some of us.

To conquer the fear, and perhaps because “Getting Published” sounded a bit too amorphous, I broke it down into mini goals that felt much easier to achieve and might lead to publication. One thing I knew for certain was that getting published was made up of a shed-load of hard work and a healthy pinch of good luck. I knew I couldn’t control the luck, but I could control the hard work.

Of course what I immediately discovered after getting published was that a new set of goals suddenly appears. All authors are works in progress, and in order to keep progressing, the Goals That Scare the You-Know-What out of you are needed more than ever.

For a while this particular knowledge stank!

It would all be so much easier if the goals that helped me grow the most and helped me learn how to adapt at speed to an ever-changing industry were those easier ones. But nope—it’s the scary ones. The ones that push me out of my comfort zone, the ones where I can’t feel the ground beneath my feet, the ones that I might fail at, that are the most helpful to me in growing as an author.

This year I’m plumping for a mixture of both again; with the easier goals hopefully giving me the confidence to tackle the scarier ones. That, at least, feels familiar. And actually exciting.  New-Year-new-possibilities exciting.

I might not reach all my goals. Life has a habit of going awry sometimes. That’s okay. I’ll let myself off of some of them if that happens. Not the scary ones though, because writing doesn’t stop when you’re published—like the industry, it’s ever-changing and ever-evolving.  I’ll always write sexy heroes, sassy heroines and happy ever afters, but I plan to stretch myself too. And who knows what giving talks about writing might lead to? Other than panic attacks and a worse stutter, that is!

So now we’re one month into 2015. How are you getting on with your resolutions and goals? And are they ones you secretly know you’ll achieve, or are some of them awesomely terrifying but you’re not going to let that stop you? Eve xx

Dating in the Dark

Today I have the very lovely Tracey Rogers on the blog to tell us a little more about her latest book. Take it away Tracey... Picture Hello and thank you for hosting me today.

When I’m writing it often involves the consumption of calories, as words and food are the perfect combination. Or is that just me? So when I decided to tackle a new project it seemed only right that I should bring words and food together and decorate them with a sprinkle of romance.

Welcome to the Sweet Delights Bakery, where the kitchen gets hot and there’s tastiness aplenty! First to sample the delights of the bakery are Sophie and Damian. Secrets are laced with sugar in Dating in the Dark, book 1 of the Sweet Delights Series.

If you want a peek of what to expect, check my Dating in the Dark board on pinterest here: https://uk.pinterest.com/tracerbooks/dating-in-the-dark/ Picture Blurb
Can you find what you need hidden within the dark?

Hiding out in his sister's bakery to recover from a recent injury isn't an ideal solution for newly unemployed meteorologist Damian Trent. Especially since he doesn't like cake. But hiding anywhere is preferable to facing the media frenzy revolving around his life. He has no intention of being seen by anyone. That is, until he hears a honey-toned voice over the phone.

Public relations agent Sophie Rose has a boss who makes her working week a hellish one. He drives her to her need for sugar, so the recently opened Sweet Delights Bakery is perfect for her much needed Friday treat. But one day when she calls to place an order, she gets an unexpected surprise.

Sophie's keen to dump her V-plates, though only the right man will do. Damian, with his sexy, yet familiar sounding voice, seems the ideal person for her to gain some much needed experience with. But why do they need to date in the dark?

Damian rested his arm across his forehead and sighed, trying to blot out the ringing sound and failing. Sleep wasn't happening. He ached from his walk after pushing it to a run. With each step he'd remembered Sophie's voice. He had very little else to occupy his mind, so she was an easy focus. Every stride had gathered pace, and before he knew it a walk had become a jog; a jog becoming a run.

And her voice was still inside his head.

Stretching out on the creaky sofa bed, he winced at the movement. Irritated, he tugged the sheet down from his bare chest to lean over and grab the phone. He placed it to his ear and muttered something unintelligible.

"Hi, sorry—did I wake you?"

"Sophie?" Or was he asleep and dreaming?

"Oh, crap. I did, didn't I? I'm so sorry. I couldn't sleep, so I thought… Anyway, my apologies. Pretend it never happened, and goodnight," she said, speeding over her words.

"Sophie, wait!" he called out, wanting to stop her before she hung up, needing to listen to her voice for a little while longer. "I couldn't sleep either," he reassured her as he heard her soft breaths. He shuffled higher against his pillow and propped one hand behind his head. Why couldn't she sleep? Because of him? And how had she gotten his number?

"Really?" Her relieved sigh made him smile. If he wasn't careful, smiling could become a habit of his. "When you left your number in the box, I thought…"

Left his number? He had no idea what his number was.

"What did you think?"

"I thought you might want me to call?" she asked hesitantly, as if she was worried about his response. She wouldn't be worried if she could see the stirring going on beneath the sheet. Or maybe she would be? Though she seemed confident, he still detected a shyness behind her words.

"And did you want to call?"

"I did."

His jaw clenched at her immediate response, a muscle flickering in his cheek. Interesting. Her honesty was evoking things inside that he was starting to like. A lot.

"I like hearing your voice."

Christ, what was she doing to him?

"What do you look like?" he asked, without thinking about the repercussions of his question.

Silence.

"Does that matter?" she said quietly, the warmth in her tone dropping a degree or two.

"No, no it doesn't." He frowned, the admission taking him by surprise. "Tell me what you're wearing instead."

"Why?"

"Because if you don't tell me you're wearing something hideous, I won't be sleeping for the rest of the night either."

She laughed then, the sound not helping his libido whatsoever. "Damian."

"Yeah."

"I'm not wearing anything hideous." He groaned then, obviously out loud because Sophie was laughing again. "I'm not wearing anything."

Oh, hell. A sudden spike of desire sliced through his veins, making him regret his impulsive words. "Then I'm now very grateful I don't know what you look like."

"You could. Know what I look like I mean."

"You want to tell me now?"

"No. I want to show you. On a…date?"

Damian lifted a hand to his face, massaging his fingers above his brow, then lower to scrub over his jaw. His breath felt restricted by his tightening lungs. As much as he wanted to see her, to touch her, to have someone touch him in a way that wasn't clinical or trying to fix him—he couldn't do it. How could he see her, without her seeing him?

Author Bio

Usually found with a pen in my hand, or my head in a book, I’m a contemporary romance author who also thinks fangs and wings are a very attractive accessory.

A devourer of books from an early age, imagination was my best discovery. I spent much of my childhood stepping into wardrobes, searching for that magical snowy world where conversing with animals would be expected. When I wasn’t searching for those worlds, I wrote about them instead. My first step into the world of romance was when I stole sneak peeks into my nana’s books. I’m still in that world and I refuse to leave.

I live in Staffordshire, UK, with my husband and three wonderful children. An avid reader and writer of romance, I strongly believe that words make the world go around. I like nothing more than to be swept away by the words on a page. I hope I can sweep you away too.

I love to hear from readers! You can find me here:
