Easter Gift for your Wife

Easter Gifts for Your Wife Holidays are a fun time and worth the celebration. The holidays between New Year’s and Memorial Day are few and far between, so cherish the ones you have. No matter the size of the gift, I like to surprise my wife with something special as often as I can. With all the bunnies and Easter egg hunts and jelly beans, Easter is typically thought of as a kid-friendly holiday. In many ways it certainly is, but it doesn’t have to exclude your significant other. Make Easter a little extra special this year by giving your special someone a gift. Don’t worry, you won’t have to stress about your level of artistic talent – be creative. There are plenty of options that require little effort, but send the same message of love. Here are four ideas to get you started: Create a custom Easter basket. Go as crazy as you want with decorations or do yourself a favor and pick out one of the colorful ones available at the store. Add in some fake grass and plastic Easter eggs full of surprises – candy, love notes, movie tickets – and create a gift for your wife to open. Add chocolate bunnies or Peeps for nostalgia. Or, mini liquor bottles can be an adult-fun twist. Pick her flowers. Ok, you don’t necessarily have to pick them, especially since depending on what area of the country you’re in might still be covered in snow, but you can definitely pick them out. Choose a flower that goes along with the holiday like lilies, daffodils, or tulips. Buy a bouquet or a pot with seeds to watch them bloom. Buying your wife flowers for Easter is sure to be a hit, especially if you are hosting a brunch or activities for your family or friends’ kids where she can proudly display them.  There are plenty of affordable online flower delivery options. Go for the gold. Or, silver. Jewelry, that is. What woman doesn’t like getting a nice piece of jewelry? It doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be classic like a new watch or bracelet. Or, buy a piece that reflects a spring-time color like purple or pink. Base your decision on what kind of styles your wife likes best. A good idea can be a charm bracelet with a bunny or chick. If your wife doesn’t wear a […]

Pampr Mobile Massage

Having two young kids is super stressful especially lately since they are fighting more and more! I finally understand parents who yell at their kids “Stop fighting”, “Don’t hit your brother”, “Give it back to him”, etc. If any of you who are reading have young kids and have a solution/advice for fighting siblings, let me know! A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I finally had a stress-free evening! It was “Date Night at Home” for Anne and I thanks to Pampr Mobile Massage. Pamper is the only mobile massage service in Vancouver that can have a  masseuse at your home within one hour of calling/requesting a massage!! What incredible service! My wife put both kids to bed while Brianna and Victoria set up the Massage Tables in our Living Room. Then, we dimmed the lights, closed our eyes, let the stress go, and let Brianna and Victoria work their magic. My wife gets tickled easily during her massages so she asked for more for a Deep Massage. For me, I love variety and I love to know what’s happening, so I went for a combination of both Swedish and Deep Tissue!! A few minutes into the massage, I felt so calm and relaxed and soon forgot the stress of running several businesses, ongoing to-do lists, dealing with 2 young kids, and work-life balance! Overall, we both loved the experience and would gladly recommend Pampr to our readers, friends, and family! After the massage, my wife gave me a massive hug – I knew I had just scored a big win in the “Good Husband” column! As the saying goes, “Happy Wife, Happy Life!” Here’s my interview I did with Brianna about Pampr:

Hey Kids! Let’s Talk about Money!!

“Hey Kids! Let’s Talk About Money!!”    This is a guest blog by Bryan Sommer, new dad and lifelong financial literacy advocate, discussing ways to talk to your kids about money at any age. Bryan works as Vice-President of Interconnect Financial Services in Surrey, B.C, which was awarded ‘Best Boutique Financial Planners-Canada’ and ‘Best Financial Planner in South Surrey & White Rock’ in 2013. Bryan shares his passion about money management in the community, and through Gifted Goose Learning, his company that helps parents set children up for future financial and personal success through educational products.    How many kids say: “When I grow up, I want to be a financial planner?” My guess: Not many. But I did. Growing up with a Financial Planner as a father, goal setting and understanding basic financial concepts were a given in my household, and I’m so thankful for it.    Money management may seem like a taboo topic that you avoid talking about with your kids, but the reality is that it’s never too early to get started! A long-term study by Duke University shows that a child’s financial success can be determined as early as three years old by looking at self-control alone.    After learning this, I saw extreme value in providing parents with educational tools that relay these important concepts through fun, engaging, and easy to use products, and started a line of resources under the Gifted Goose Learning umbrella!   The Pogo Pig Savings app teaches 2 to 5 year olds how to save money using interactive games. The free iTunes download, which kids can play on smart phones or tablets, teaches kids to save their money in order to receive their desired candy, toys, etc. I can’t wait to play this with my daughter in a couple years, to help teach her basic decision-making skills, delayed gratification and develop self-control. The added element of “fun” will surely help her latch onto these ideas. I’ve already started reading Pogo Pig Learns About Goal Setting to Adrianna. The book emphasizes that kids need to set goals, write out a simple list of steps to achieve them, and post the plan in a visible place to act as a reminder. These basic goal-setting principles are also a great reminder for parents – as they’re so relevant throughout life. I recently taught core money concepts in a Grade 5/6 classroom to help kids make smart money decisions […]

Healthy Family Expo 2015

Last year, I had an amazing time at the Healthy Family Expo!! We had a Daddy Blogger and YVR Dads Booth at the expo to connect with all the dads were at the Expo. Yes, there were lots of dads and not all of them were just carrying bags around. I had some amazing conversations with dads-to-be, new dads, and dads with multiple kids sharing our experiences as fathers! Quite a few people picked up a copy of my book Wisdom from Daddies (where I interviewed over 100 dads about fatherhood)! Glad to be a support to dads any way I can! If you missed it, I did a presentation called “3 Tips to be a Better Dad”: This year, the Expo is back bigger and better! New name, new venue, new sponsors, and many more parents and families attending!! The Healthy Family Expo will be on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 10 am – 5 pm at the Vancouver Convention Centre – what an amazing venue with a beautiful view of the North Shore!! Local family performers Bobs and Logo will be performing at 11 am and 2 pm. They’ll have your kids up and dancing in no time! We have seen their shows several times and our kids Rianne and Ryan are big fans! One of my favourite things about this show is the focus on healthy products for kids – something our family is very passionate about! I’m one of the lucky Blog Ambassadors helping promote the show to dads all across Vancouver! The moms are already coming so I’ll work on getting more dads to join the fun! We are doing a massive $2000 giveaway which includes several gift cards, gift certificates, passes, and products and services from the sponsors. OneDay Instant Movie Maker App

With over 2000 videos, over 500,000 views, and over 500 subscribers on our YouTube Channel, you can say we are definitely huge fans of capturing our kids on video! Ever since that the first moment our daughter entered the world until now with our kids 2.5 years old and 1 year old, we have captured all the important memories for Rianne and Ryan to look at when they are older! Here is the first ever video we made of Rianne immediately after she was born: Recently, I have been getting more creative with my videos investing more time in the editing and final production process. Usually, I use iMovie. However, just recently, I came across the OneDay Instant Movie Maker App which is available through both the IOS Store and the Google Play Android Store. One of the things I loved about this App was that there was no time-consuming editing involved. The theme, transitions, and music are all built in! The App asks you some preset questions based on the storyline you pick and within minutes you have a video done for you! So, you can make professionally-looking videos that are lifelong memories from the comfort of your Smart Phone with no editing required. We have a special Giveaway for our Daddy Blogger readers: a $150 Visa Card!! a Rafflecopter giveaway

The Empowered Parents Summit

It’s tough to find many other dads who are building their careers out of supporting parents so when I first met Scott Carr a few years ago, I got excited since he is a dad of three girls who has committed his life, his business, and his career to developing the Empowered Parents Network to help support moms and dads around the world! Scott and I have been become good friends over the last couple of years – he was even our keynote speaker at one of our recent YVR Dads events! Scott has organized the first ever Empowered Parents Summit from Monday, March 2, 2015 to Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 10 am – 12 pm PST with 9 amazing speakers sharing their experience and expertise in different areas of parenting. I am looking forward to attending and learning how to be a better dad through the summit! Here’s the link to register for FREE: Empowered Parents Summit Here’s more details about the summit: Let me ask you this, as a parent: Do you find yourself stressed out from the ‘children – parent’ drama of your home environment? Do you find that your children are beginning to shut you out and that your trust and respect levels have eroded? And… out of curiosity… when was the last time that your children did something special just for you? If you are interested in solutions to those questions – and reminding yourself how critical a role your own attitudes and actions have in your children’s’ development – then you have got to meet my good friend Scott Carr, who is a parenting and youth thought leader, a ‘solo’ father of 3, and successful entrepreneur. Scott has created a groundbreaking parenting summit to help you overcome those parenting challenges and also reduce stress and feel empowered in your parenting journey.  Scott has pulled together some of the top influencers and PhDs, clinicians and counselors in the parenting and youth space who are going to share their breakthrough research, strategies and advice on how parents can feel more com If learning strategies that make parenting more of an empowering and inspiring experience resonates with you, go ahead and learn more from about the topics being covered at this ‘virtual summit’, and here directly from Scott by right here.
