Return to Me
Please welcome my guest blogger L.M. Spangler with Return To Me.
Return to Me-teaser1

BLURB:

Her secret tore them apart. Naida Bouche foolishly thought she could live as if she was only human. Her true nature hung over her like a thunderhead, driving a wedge between her and her husband. Cooper Martin had no idea why his ex-wife divorced him. He'd treated her like a goddess. And they had no problems in the intimacy department. Fate brings them together again. Old emotions flare to life. Can Naida see beyond her self-perceived faults and allow the flames to reignite the love she and Coop feel for one another?

EXCERPT:

Water cascaded off her nude body. Small rivulets ran over her breasts and down her slightly rounded stomach, disappearing into the surface of the lake.
She was one with the water.
She could, literally, become one with it.
Moonlight reflected off the mirror-smooth surface, adding a soft glow to the night.
Crickets serenaded her with their chirping song. The cicadas added their buzzing to the symphony. There were a lot of cicadas, hence the name of the lake. A wolf howled in the distance. Nature cocooned her.
She grinned and dove under. Liquid embraced her, still heated by the sun’s rays from earlier in the day. Her body became insubstantial, fragmenting into molecules of H2O. Disorientation left her bewildered, but the feeling came and went. Weightless warmth enveloped her, and the ebb and flow of the tide lulled her into blissful relaxation.
The moon slid across the sky. Hours had passed. Her body became corporeal with a single thought. After regaining her human form, she cut through the water with powerful strokes and rose to the surface in a rush of bubbles.
The night air chilled her damp skin, raising goose pimples along her flesh. She pushed the long fall of hair from her face and glanced into the deep, lush woods that ringed the lake. Soon the leaves would change to shades of gold, orange, red, and brown. In would come the autumnal chill. Her time in the waters would decrease, and then winter would set in and freeze her out.
When that happened, she’d resort to the swimming pool located on the basement level of her large home. Even with the greenery she had sprinkled about, it never fully replaced the exhilaration of the lake, the feel of fresh air against her skin, and the scent of the wilderness.
She repeated the cycle, year after year. The monotony had long since worn short on her nerves.
She had someone in her life, someone to break the monotony.
More accurately, she would only have him until the end of the day.
Tonight would be the last night they would be together. She’d tell him that they were over and done with. The sad part of the whole shitty deal was she couldn’t really give him a reason why.
How could he understand? Hell, she’d have trouble believing the truth, if it wasn’t her life.
The root of their problems were otherworldly, as her father was human and her mother was a water nymph.
The nymph side of her heritage presented two problems. First, she needed daily contact with water. The more the better. Like her pool in the basement. Second, she also needed sex … a lot. Preferably once or twice a day. After all, the term “nymphomaniac” had been born of a nymph’s sex drive.
They had a lot of sex, but there were times when their hectic lives interfered with his libido. He was human and his sex drive was human.
She couldn’t guess how he’d react if she said, “I’m a nympho which means we have to have sex all the time. Day and night. Over and over and over.”
He wouldn’t understand it and she’d allowed it to build a wall between them.
No, he had never known the truth of her desires.
She had pushed him away, afraid of exposing her real self.
And that fear, that uncertainty, would leave her alone … and needy.

@evernightpub @LeaBronsen Guest blogger Lea Bronsen with A Thorned Rose In The Sand

Please welcome my guest blogger Lea Bronsen with A Thorned Rose In The Sand.
Hi, and thank you for hosting me on your blog!
I got the idea for this story after watching a video of French “globe cooker” Fred Chesneau visiting nomads in the Moroccan desert. They generously shared their food, home, and wisdom with a stranger, and I thought it would be cool to write about a female rally driver having the same experience.

A Thorned Rose in the Sand is set in the beautiful, quiet dunes of western Sahara where the sun is so hot you can’t walk barefooted and you could go miles and miles without seeing a single soul. In this story, you’ll meet a badass 450cc rally motorcycle, an opiniated but gentle dromedary, and two highly strong-willed young persons from opposite sides of the planet who get off to a bad start then can’t keep their hands off each other

@TheOriginalGray Guest Blogger J.R. Gray with KING CONSORT

Please welcome my guest blogger JR Gray with King Consort.
Title: King ConsortBlurb: Avoiding sleeping with women was my specialty, an art form even. As the future King of England I couldn’t be caught sleeping with men. My whole life played out in front of the paparazzi, and they didn’t miss a thing. I had a carefully crafted womanizing persona to maintain. My life came with rules, all of which I broke when I couldn’t resist a one night stand with the enemy: A beautiful paparazzo with a heart of gold. He may be the only person who doesn’t want me for my title, and he can never be anything more than my secret. But secrets have a way of coming out and not only will they scare him away, but they’ll lose me the crown.

Teaser: He sat back keeping the camera in his lap. “How much liberty are you giving me?” I mirrored him and looked him over, taking my time with my answer. “Why are you asking.” Lust crossed through his gaze. “Take off the shirt.” I obliged him, slowly working my fingers down the buttons. I slid it off and set it aside. He looked me over, hungry. My cock stirred at the look. I’d never felt so desired by another person. He slid forward on the seat and brought the camera back to his face. I stayed as I was until he told me to move. “Sit on the edge of the table,” he said breathless. I was glad this was getting to him as much as it was me. It was entirely foreign to give someone such a thing over me. To allow someone to take these photos. It was daring and exhilarating. I’d have to be careful or I’d get addicted to the acting out like some bored teenager. I sat on the edge to the table closest to the fire and he moved back to take a few shots. I looked up when he hadn’t said anything in a few moments to find him just watching me. The fire illuminated his scar, and I wanted to kiss the length of it, from his brow to his lips. I licked my lip and my chest rose as I inhaled fully, trying to calm myself. He snapped another photo. “What do you see?” I asked unable to stand wondering a moment longer. I wanted to know how he saw me. “I see hunger,” he said as he came closer. “The way you look at me.” The camera hung at his side as he stalked closer. I wanted to reach out for him. To shove him into the chair he’d occupied and climb on top of him, but I refrained because more than wanting him, I wanted to see what he did. “Take your pants off.” I raised a brow but didn’t say more.

Author Bio: When not staying up all night writing, J.R. Gray can be found at the gym where it's half assumed he is a permanent resident to fulfill his self-inflicted masochism. A dominant and a pilot, Gray finds it hard to be in the passenger seat of any car. He frequently interrupts real life, including normal sleep patterns and conversations, to jot down notes or plot bunnies. Commas are the bane of his existence even though it's been fully acknowledged they are necessary, they continue to baffle and bewilder. If Gray wasn't writing…well, that's not possible. The buildup of untold stories would haunt Gray into an early grave, insanity or both. The idea of haunting has always appealed to him. J.R. Gray is genderqueer and prefers he/him pronouns.

Excerpt:“Well, babe, I gotta say, more money always sounds good to me.”
Ugh. It’s like he does it without even thinking. She passed him the paperwork and pointed to the pertinent sections.
“I just started going through this. Give it a read-through, and tell me if you see any red flags. I’m going to refill my coffee.”
She needed a minute to calm her swirling thoughts, and sitting in a small room with a man who simultaneously generated a low-level buzz of attraction while also making her want to punch him in the stomach was not helping. His proposal had stunned her, and she’d not responded well. She pulled down another mug out of force of habit and filled it before topping hers off as well. She added one sugar and a healthy dollop of cream to his, fake sugar and cream to her own.
All done, but nowhere near ready to return, she braced her hands on the peacock granite countertop, stretched her arms long and dropped her head between them. She lengthened her spine and took a deep breath, aiming for some of the peace she’d felt when she’d dropped into a yoga class with Brandy.
Change itself was nothing to fear. So what if most of the changes in her life had been awful? That didn’t mean these changes were going to be bad, too. She could handle whatever needed handling. She’d managed before, and she could do it again. And she was absolutely full of crap. She was three seconds from panicking, and her deep-breathing exercises were getting trapped in her clenching throat.
“Hey, are you okay?” Adrian’s deep, husky voice skittered up her spine, leaving a trail of goose bumps that didn’t subside when she jumped and squealed.
Why did this man have the power to make her feel like a twelve-year-old girl? She spun to face him, only to find that he’d invaded the space she’d cleared and was reaching for her shoulder, as if to steady her. She backed away swiftly, bumping into the counter and rattling the cups. Remembering why she’d come to the kitchen in the first place, she handed him the coffee she’d made him, being careful not to scald herself with a brush of his fingertips. She could pick apart the ridiculousness of her response later.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She retreated into a sip of her own fortifying mug.
He mirrored her sip and stepped back as well. Message finally freaking received. Good.
“You know how I take my coffee?” He grinned as if this detail somehow meant something special.
“I know everyone’s coffee order. Have you not noticed who keeps the lists for meeting coffee runs? Or who is constantly being charged with stocking the kitchen? Or did you just think a magical caffeine fairy came in at night and brought lattes to all the good little boys?” She tried once again to take him down a peg while setting him straight. She couldn’t have him thinking that she’d been watching him, paying attention to his personal preferences. Even if she had.
Once again, her sarcasm flew right over his head. He raised the contract in his hand and held it out to her.
“Listen, I tried to read through this, but it might as well be written in Latin. Can you walk me through the specifics?”
“I just got it myself. Give me a day or two to really pick it apart, and I’ll fill you in.”
“Thanks, angel. That sounds good.” He tossed the contract on the break room table, supremely confident, coffee in hand.
She’d wager he hadn’t even heard the “Sure thing” she’d managed through clenched teeth. How could she be so attracted to someone who pissed her off so royally?
Good thing he didn’t know, or he’d be insufferable. @evernightpub Guest Blogger Peri Elizabeth Scott with A FAR CRY FROM HOME

Please welcome my guest bloggerPeri Elizabeth Scott with A FAR CRY FROM HOME.

Regan Ferguson knows little past running The Inn, her home since her adoption. Again orphaned, she’s dealt another blow. Her father never repaid a loan, the recipient being Maddox Ferguson, her newfound, sexy cousin.
Intrigued by the woman he never knew existed, Maddox is awed by her tenacity and determination to continue with The Inn. He makes her a loan to give her the opportunity to learn for herself how impossible the task, rather than personally destroying any chance to explore the connection between them. However, he quietly lines up potential buyers as a fallback plan.
Regan eventually has that epiphany, only to accidentally determine Maddox’s plan. Feeling betrayed and confused, she secretly signs the buyout and hits the road with her cat, Oscar.
Maddox follows, and without The Inn between them they find their happily ever after—Regan learns that home is wherever her heart is.

Excerpt:
She stuck out her hand, and he fancied she saw it as an olive branch. The hostility she’d initially projected was gone, and he took the opportunity to encroach into her space. Clasping her small, work-roughened hand in his much larger one, a frisson of energy sparked between them and he felt her quiver.

Fascinated, he watched as she strove to regain her composure, while he allowed his desire to show. Staring into her eyes, the pale-blue of her irises consumed by the dilation of her pupils, he read her need. He tugged her to his chest, the clean smell of soap and water, and something uniquely Regan, wafting from her.

Her head tipped back and he dropped his mouth down on hers, the immediate connection hardening his flesh to the point of pain. She relaxed into his hold and he tasted her with desperate intent. His fingers wove through the silky mass of her hair, holding her steady, and she moaned deep in her throat. She pressed closer, her arms wreathing around his neck.

He somehow brought it to a close, over long before he wanted it to be, but his conscience pricked hard. He’d promised her the time and money to bring The Inn up to snuff, somehow unable to resist. And now he’d honor his commitment, intuiting the importance of this woman determining her own destiny. Not a fling, not like with his other women.

His libido jeered and prodded at him but knew to allow nature to take its course. Wherever this connection with Regan was going, he wouldn’t hurry nor derail it.

As they both caught their breath, he gently set her away from him, his hands on her lithe waist, until she steadied on her stool. “I normally don’t seal business deals with a kiss,” he said, aware his tone held a certain rasp. Clearing his throat, he continued, “It’s been a … momentous day.”

Her slender throat working in a swallow, she said, “I’ve never sealed a business deal before.”

He knew she wasn’t experienced and doubted she kissed every man she’d just met with fervor and without meaning anything by it. Aching for her, he clamped down on his physical need and did his best to appear suave and unruffled. “We have a deal, Regan. I’ll bring my things in and get settled while you get organized. You’ll need a material list, among other things.”

Visibly drawing her composure around her like flexible armor, she slipped from the stool and turned her back on him, clearing away the dishes on the island. “Sounds good. I’ll just tidy up and then sit down with pen and paper. Lists are good.”

Holding hard on to his own equanimity, he nodded and headed out for his car. Some fresh air would clear his head and cool him down.

Excerpt: We knocked the liquor back, and our gazes met as we set the glasses on the bar. “How old are you?” Nicky asked, his attention snagging on my lips.“Twenty-eight.”He scrubbed a hand over the beard lining his jaw while looking away. “So damn young.”“Not too young.” Gauntlet thrown, I waited for his attention to return to my face. Eyes full of lust, a leashed animal that ought to scare the shit out of me but didn’t.“I’m no good.”I cocked my head and slid my gaze down over him, not missing the hard length straining against his leathers. “Look pretty damn good to me.”His low groan rushed need through me again, and I knew I’d leave a wet spot on the stool once I got up.“You’re messing with fire, little girl.”Heat flushed through me. “I enjoy flames now and then.” My breath caught at the hunger on his face, parting my lips.“Fuck it.” He grasped my chin in his warm palm. “I’ll give you what you want, little girl, but don’t go crying to your mommy in the morning because a big bad wolf left his mark on you.”Oh, God. I swallowed and squeezed my thighs together. Older men were so the shit.He captured my lips, but without the brute force I’d expected. Hunger, yes, but the full softness of his lips pressed against mine, taking and tasting, his tongue probing, whiskers brushing my skin. I parted my lips and moaned as he sank his tongue into my mouth, fucking every hidden corner, filling me with the taste of whiskey and pure male. My skin pebbled, pulse thrummed.“Goddamn.” Nicky stood and yanked me off the stool. Virile, pure hardness and muscle beneath the leather hiding his skin from my grasping hands. His fingers fisted in my long hair, tangling and yanking my head to the side, the other grabbing my ass and hauling me against his huge cock. He crouched down slightly and pulled me up. My legs wrapped around him as though having a mind of their own—even though I had been thinking about getting him between my legs all night long. His beard brushed along my neck as he breathed me in and licked from my collarbone to my ear. “You smell like a fucking spring day. Innocent.”“I’m h-hardly an innocent,” I gasped as he bit my earlobe and ground his cock against my sopping jeans.“Thank God, because I want to be balls deep inside of you. Now.”He thrust, and I moaned, my fingers grasping at his t-shirt.“Tell me to stop,” he whispered harshly in my ear.“No way in hell.”With a growl, he squeezed my ass to the point of pain. “I haven’t wanted a woman like this in a long fucking time.”“So take what you want.”“Goddamn.” He rested his forehead on mine. “Right here?”I slithered a hand between us to grasp the hardness inside his leathers. “Right now.”“Fuck.” Like my five-foot-six frame and thirty extra pounds meant nothing, he spun me around. “Hands on the bar.”I did as told, bending at the waist and putting my ass on display with a little wiggle.“Don’t move,” he said while peeling off his leather jacket. My legs trembled, and I turned my head to watch as he moved to the front door and flicked off the lights. The streetlight half a block away barely cut through the storm, but the flash of lightning lit Nicky up as he stalked back toward me, shedding his t-shirt.Broad shoulders … another flash filled my eyes with tanned skin stretched tight over massive pecs and abs a twenty-year-old guy would kill for.I licked my lips, hoping for another flash of light, but Nicky palmed my waist and leaned over my back, his cock pressed against my ass, the heat of his skin searing me through my shirt. My eyelids fluttered shut as he wrapped his fingers around my hair again and tilted my head back. “Last chance, Mel.” His rumbling voice and hot breath against my ear brought a moan past my lips.“Take me,” I managed to whisper and licked my dry lips. “Please.”

Please welcome my guest blogger Laura M. Baird with Love on the Line.

BLURB
AJ finds it hard to trust another man’s intentions after being duped and dumped, so the last thing she wants is another in her life. But her friend has other ideas and sets her up with the perfect guy—through a chat-only service.

Hesitant at first, AJ is lured in by the deep, sexy voice and fun banter that easily becomes a nightly habit. As their bond grows and she begins to fall hard for him, they make plans to meet face-to-face.

With love on the line, will AJ decide to forgive him when he confesses to being part of the set-up?

Excerpt from Love on the Line:“Hello,” said the husky voice. “This is Mathias.” His few words were clear, succinct, and surprisingly soothing. Still, AJ remained quiet, locked up, unsure if she could even do this. She was on the verge of disconnecting the call when Mathias broke the silence.“Would you like to tell me your name?”Oh yes, definitely a voice made for phone sex. Okay, she hadn’t called for phone sex. She wasn’t even the one who called. But did people even do that anymore? Call for phone sex? Mathias’s sexy timbre certainly made her think of that, giving her goose bumps and making her short hairs stand on end. Thanks a lot, Jen, AJ thought, remembering her laughter as she quickly explained her scheme. Real mature for thirty-something.Oh God, and here she sat with her phone to her ear, listening to this undeniably alluring voice, wishing she had just hung up the damn phone the minute the first word had been uttered.“…and apparently you do, too.”I do too, what? “Hello?” Crickets. “If you’ve changed your mind, that’s understandable. No harm. I’ll just say good-bye, and—”“AJ,” she blurted. He sounded so down. Disappointed. She felt bad.Oh my God, what is wrong with me? I don’t even know him, and here I am feeling sorry for him because I’m the one who won’t speak to a stranger? She slapped her forehead as she closed her eyes and grimaced.“Hi, AJ.”She swore she could hear the smile in his voice when he said her name. She was so weak.“So do you really like hiking and kayaking?”“Yes,” came her simple reply.“And you enjoy beer more than wine. And you prefer college football over NFL?”“Yes, and of course.” So her friend really had listed true facts.“And even though you love to indulge in pizza, burgers, and ice cream, you still manage to keep your figure in tip-top shape as an ice girl for the Idaho Steelheads.”“W-what!” AJ sputtered.Mathias’s light laughter echoed in her ear. “Gotcha. Just seeing if you were paying attention.”
Second Excerpt:Mathias’s voice echoed in her mind. What was it about him that resonated with her? His seemingly laid-back nature? The ease with which they exchanged stories and laughed with one another? She could just imagine his rich voice with its low tone whispering in her ear, sending shivers across her skin like a caress. Was he really as he jokingly described, at six three, washboard abs, and looking like Chris Hemsworth? AJ shivered as goose bumps dotted her skin in spite of the warm water. She imagined his muscular form pressing into her backside, warmth surrounding her as his arms circled her torso. Large hands easily palmed her breasts, his fingers teasing her nipples while his growing erection pressed into her lower back.A whimper involuntarily escaped her mouth as her breasts were suddenly tender, her sex clenching at the mere thought of the man she envisioned performing deliciously dirty deeds. AJ caressed one breast then the other as her hand roamed her own body. She moved down her toned abdomen to the neatly trimmed curls between her thighs, pressing into her folds to finger her clit. Moisture easily coated her digits and tentative flicks soon gave way to furious rubbing as her movements became faster and harder. She moaned at the euphoric feeling starting to sweep through her—something she had rarely ever felt with Brad.AJ quickly shut down those thoughts and instead concentrated on bringing herself to orgasm. It’d been too long since her body felt this way. She trembled as her fingers swirled across her flesh, her pussy becoming engorged. What she wouldn’t give for a hot, thick cock filling her, pounding into her. She couldn’t even mimic that action due to the fact she didn’t own a vibrator.“What woman in this day and age doesn’t own a vibrator?” Jen had asked.AJ began to rethink that decision immediately. As her legs weakened, she braced a hand against the shower wall while she continued to stroke herself. So close. She could feel her insides tightening, and her hips began to thrust back and forth as she raced to the finish line. She couldn’t help the cry that shattered the silence as her climax barreled through her. Her rubbing didn’t stop as she pressed even harder against her clit, enjoying every pulse exploding from that tiny, sensitive bundle of nerves. As the waves of pleasure began to recede, AJ leaned against the shower wall, panting. She couldn’t believe the fierceness of her orgasm, brought on by her own hand and the explicit thoughts involving a faceless stranger.

Army, met and married my studly husband (of nearly 28 years), and migrated to the West Coast.  While raising two sons, I put myself through dental hygiene school, which I’ve been doing for the past eighteen years.  Soon I hope to transition out of that profession and concentrate solely on writing. After attending my very first writer’s conference in Bellevue, WA, in October of 2016, my motivation was at an all-time high.  By August of 2017, my first book was published!  Since then it’s been rolling, with four releases from Evernight Publishing.  My fifth with EP (still awaiting edits) will be the start of what I hope to be a three-book series.  I currently have the start of two other series I plan to submit—a small-town romance, and The Cover Model Series set in Seattle.  The first book in this series, In a Flash, was inspired by seeing the amazing cover model photographer, Wander Aguiar, at the writer’s conference.  I wrote the story for NaNoWriMo in 2016, finishing 52K in 26 days!  Since then it’s gone through a number of revisions, and with one more polish, I’ll be submitting soon to EP.  One project I’m very honored to a part of is the Happy Holidays – anthology of short stories. It’s a compilation of stories from international authors, and all proceeds go to The World Literacy Foundation.  It’s available on Amazon in both print and digital.“Love on the Line” is set in Boise, one of my very favorite cities. (I attended Boise State University!)  It’s about AJ moving on from a bad relationship.  Unknowingly, her friend registers her at a site called FlirtChat, where individuals become interested in one another based on commonalities – no pictures allowed.  When said friend calls a guy from the site and hands AJ the phone, she can’t deny the sexy appeal of Mathias’s voice.  One night of fun and eye-opening talk leads to another, and another, and soon a relationship develops, and they desperately want to meet in person.  But will they meet each other’s expectations?  Find out in this snarky, spicy contemporary romance. When not writing, of course I’m reading—waaay too many authors to list—from contemporary to erotic to suspenseful romance.  I love finding ways to gain exposure and engage with other authors and readers, and while I don’t have a blog, I love to support authors by sharing as much as I can on my social media sites. I’ve had the opportunity to “meet” so many wonderful people associated with not only EP, but across the writing spectrum and on the many social media platforms.  I look forward to one day meeting many in person.  In July, I’ll have the opportunity to attend an author event in Seattle, WA.  Details at: https://www.facebook.com/Readers-and-Writers-Author-Events-638013582968598/ My website: https://www.laurambairdauthor.comFacebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LauraMBairdauthor/Twitter: https://twitter.com/LauraMBairdAmazon page: https://tinyurl.com/y98u9mva Goodreads:  https://tinyurl.com/y7o6a3v6 Bookbub: https://www.bookbub.com/profile/laura-m-baird Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/laurambaird

Accidentally AgainBy Sydney Lea
BLURB:
She wanted to stay. He knew she needed to go.
Police officer Gabe Hannigan had always done the right thing and followed the rules. With the exception of one night with the girl he had always craved, Billie Shannon.
When Billie returns four years later to care for her sick father, she comes home with a secret she knew she couldn't keep forever, leaving the pair with no choice but to come to terms with the consequences of their night together and the actions Gabe took to try and protect Billie’s future.
Can this lawman make things right with the woman he should never have let go? Will they overcome their past in order to fall in love accidentally again?

EXCERPT:
“I’m sorry.”
Billie tensed in my arms, pulling away enough to meet my eyes, her gaze unwavering as she read my face. Something inside me broke as I witnessed her withdraw and close in on herself. “Sorry?”
Shaking my head I tried to reach for her only to have her step further back. “Billie. I…”
“You what?” She clenched her teeth, anger building in her stormy blue eyes.
I sat up quickly, tugging on the sheet to keep myself covered in some ridiculous and far too late attempt to stay in control. “We shouldn’t have done that. I shouldn’t have done that.”
As soon as the words left my mount I instantly regretted them. They sounded all wrong and not how I wanted to explain myself. I tried again. “I just mea—”
“Don’t you fucking dare,” she snapped, cutting me off. I remained silent as I watched her consider her next words. Her body was tense and rigid even as she slid from the bed and reached for the nearest clothing. When she was dressed in pyjamas, she turned to me and wrapped her arms around herself as though placing a barrier between us. I couldn’t fault her for that. Honestly, I doubt I could have fucked up the situation more if I had been actively trying to come off as a selfish, uncaring dick. “I think you should leave.”
“Bi-”
“I said leave,” she ground out, glaring at me. “I didn’t ask for an excuse. I don’t want to hear another apology. I want you gone. It’s very simple, Deputy Hannigan.”
I winced at her formal address of me. She was putting up walls and while a large part of me knew I could break them before they fully formed, could try to fix this at least somewhat, another side realized this might be the perfect exit strategy. Cowardly sure, but effective. She needed to go, and she needed to have no hesitations in doing so.
Maybe it was more selfish to want to fix things and the best thing I could do for her was leave and not come back. I could be selfless, right?
Dressing quickly, I moved around her to leave and her flinch at my nearness was like a slap in the face. I forced myself to walk out of her bedroom and down the hallway, taking the final steps to the front door.
Opening it, I turned to her finding her already shaking her head. “Just go.”
I made it halfway done the path to the street where I had parked the patrol car, feeling her eyes on me the entire way before I broke. I had to make sure she wouldn’t change her mind, wouldn’t think there was a chance. I couldn’t be why she gave up her future. “I know you don’t want to hear it, but I am sorry. It was an accident, one that can’t happen again. You and me? We can never be something, we can never be what you want. You’ll be better off moving forward and never looking back.”
I glanced back to see her expression. Hurt warring with frustration. Not giving her a chance to respond a hastened my pace and slipped into the car, starting up the engine and pulling away from the curb even as I saw her move towards the vehicle.
“Fuck!” I shouted to myself, slamming my palm on the steering wheel. “I’m a selfish bastard.”
I should have just left. Selfish and a coward. Right then I knew, Billie would be better off without me.

John’s JillarooBy: Scarlett J. Rose
Blurb:Amy is a city girl, but things haven’t gone her way. looking for a ‘tree change’ she takes on a job as a Jillaroo on a remote Australian cattle station. It’s not the glamorous change she thought it would be...There’s dirt, there’s flies, there’s heat, and then, there’s John, the Jackaroo.
Excerpt‘Oh my god… I’m going to die!’ Amy clutched tight to the edge of the passenger seat in the small plane. “Uh, where’s the runway?” she nervously asked the pilot, what was his name again? Lachlan? Logan? It didn’t matter, the guy was batshit crazy.“Just down there.” he pointed, his voice tinny over the heavy headset’s speakers secured to her ears.“Where?” she looked but couldn’t see.“Right there, see that darker patch of red? Just in front of us?”“Yes.”“That’s the runway.” he chuckled.“Oh my god, we’re going to die!”“Nope, just land., Don’t you worry, love. I’ve only had one crash and everyone walked away from it, well almost everyone.”“How’d you manage to crash?” Amy asked, ignoring the last part of his statement.“Angus Littler’s cattle were in the way. Took out a huge brahma bull. Still can’t look at raw steak.”Amy groaned, her stomach churning at the thought.“Getting a bit of a tailwind here.” He pulled back on the controls, nosing the plane up. “Going to be a bit tricky.” Amy scrunched her eyes shut as her stomach lurched. She heard the little plane’s engine roar as the pilot throttled up before it dived towards the ground. The flight was bumpy and she was jostled in her seat, the safety belt biting against her legs as she was thrown around with the turbulence. The plane’s engine roared again as they bumped and bounced along the red dirt runway. Amy squealed as the plane slid sideways, the tail swinging out as they skidded in the red dust. Crazy pilot guy throttled back, shutting the engine down. “Looks like we beat the dust storm, but you’ll wanna get a move on, it’s almost on us.”  He unbuckled his safety belt and popped open the door. He swapped out his headset for a rugged and rough looking Akubra hat. The broad brim shaded his weathered face, lined with age and hard work. Amy fiddled with the belt, finally getting the clip free. She opened the passenger side door of the small Cessna and stumbled out on legs which refused to obey her commands to work. The wind howled around her as eddies of red dust swirled across the rutted runway. “Holy shit, you landed on that?” she asked Crazy Pilot.“Yeah, that’s nothing. You should see some of the places we land when there is no runway.”“I’ll pass, thanks.”“No worries and thanks for flying with Dinky-Di airways.” Crazy Pilot smirked as he handed her two cases over and moved to secure the plane with chocks, which were really two large chunks of concrete placed on either side of the Cessna’s landing gear. Amy turned and looked over the little town which lay before her. There were no fences between her and the town and several weatherboard and corrugated iron buildings could be seen. Every vehicle was a four-wheel-drive of some type. Mostly land cruisers covered in a layer of red dust. The wind was warm and even as she breathed in, she could feel the dust carried on it. . She looked off towards the east where a huge red smudge loomed on the horizon.“You might want to hurry up there, Love. Dust storms move pretty fast out here.”Amy pulled up the long handle on both of her cases and began to drag them through the dirt towards the pub, or so the flashing sign above the building said it was. It was one of the larger buildings in the little town, built from faded weatherboard with a corrugated iron roof which looked like it was rusty. But, she realised it was covered in red dust, like everything else here appeared to be.The town was quiet as she hauled her cases over to the pub. The main street was a dirt road and the only hard concrete surface she noted was the front of the pub where the awning reached out to create a little welcoming shade from the harsh sunlight. Two old men sat out the front smoking while clutching a long neck bottle of beer in their free hand. They nodded to her and continued on talking. As she hauled her bags up the concrete steps, one of the small wheels became stuck and dragged along the rough concrete. Amy sighed, stopped and reached down to check the rubber disc.  It was clogged with the  damned red dust. A shadow passed over her, blocking the glare from the dusty concrete.“You alright there, miss?” a stranger asked as she reached down to try to loosen the clogged wheel.“Damned case wheel is jammed, .” Amy said before looking up at the stranger with the voice that spoke of promises of rough and ready sex. Amy needed herself some of that. It had been a long time between bedpartners although the main reason she’d come out here, was to get away from her sleazy ex-boss. He’d pushed her up against the photocopier in the office and tried to ‘convince’ her that letting him feel her up, and then bend her over his desk was a good idea.“You look like who I am looking for,” the stranger drawled.Amy rolled her eyes. “Look buddy, I’m not some city whore. I’m waiting for my ride to….” he’d forgotten the name of the station and pulled a piece of paper from her pocket with the name of the place on it.“Toomaboora station.”“Well, what a coincidence.” the rugged man smirked. “I’m looking for someone heading that way myself.” He reached down and picked up both of her cases with ease. Amy watched, mouth agape as he walked easily over to his land cruiser utility and tossed her bags into the back tray. “You coming?”

Sweet AddictionBy Sarah Marsh
BLURB:
The opportunity to build her own future and start over is exactly what Sasha needs. Moving to the small town of Digby to open up a pastry shop is more than enough to make her happy, or so she thought. What she wasn’t counting on was the sexy rancher that seems to have quite an interest in her, for far more than her baking skills.
Sasha has exactly what Declan needs to take care of his sweet tooth, and any other hungers that may arise…if she has the courage to show it. He’s figured out that Sasha is gun shy when it comes to men, but with some patience, he hopes to sneak past her walls and show her that he’s in it for more than just dessert. When his past comes calling, will Sasha open up and trust him, or will she shut her heart down for good?
EXCERPT:
“Thank you for walking me.”         “Of course, everyone knows how shifty this town is,” he winked. “I wanted to make sure you didn’t get abducted or roughed up by one of the street gangs from the senior’s home down the way.”         “Wow… I had no idea,” she had a tough time keeping a straight face. “I guess I better stop walking around with my knitting needles and bags of yarn, it’s just asking to get mugged.”         “It’s okay, I’ll keep you safe,” he managed with his most serious tone as they came to a stop in front of the stairs to her apartment. Declan moved in closer, taking her other hand, twining her fingers in his own.         “That’s very nice of you,” her breathy whisper made his own heart beat faster as he searched her face for permission to do what he was aching to.
****
Sasha felt like she could barely breathe, the warm spicy scent of Declan surrounded her as he leaned in closer. She’d spent most of the night wondering if his lips would be as soft as they looked, and she was now almost desperate to find out.          “Well,” his green eyes searched hers before they wandered lower, seeming to follow her tongue as she absently ran it over her lower lip, “I have to admit, it’s partially a selfish motivation—if you get attacked by senior citizens, I wouldn’t be able to do this…”         Declan’s mouth softly touched her own, and she sucked in a breath. His skin was so warm everywhere it moved against hers, and without her even realizing it, her fingers were suddenly tangled in the silky black hair at the nape of his neck. He seemed to approve if the low groan that escaped him was any indication, and when his tongue rubbed against her lips, she eagerly opened, loving the wild taste of him.         “Sasha,” the low timbre of his voice made goosebumps wash over her body, “you feel so perfect in my arms.”         Those words only made her control unravel even faster, and she pulled his mouth back down to her own, exploring as ardently as he was. She felt a wall at her back and realized he’d backed her into the alcove beside the door. When his body finally stopped, she could feel the hard length of him against her stomach, and her body flooded with heat, knowing that he wanted her as much as she ached for him.         She moved her hips closer, and Declan swallowed her groan as the hot ridge of his cock moved against her sensitive clit, setting off a round of fireworks in her body. One of his large hands moved along her back until it settled comfortably on her ass, pulling her even closer as his talented mouth moved to nibble along the side of her neck.         Sasha couldn’t think, her body was on fire with need for this man, and when his lips stopped moving, she couldn’t stifle her whimper of protest. Declan’s forehead moved to rest on her own, and she loved that he was as breathless as she was. He also hadn’t let her go, and the feel of his strong frame against her own was almost as intoxicating as his kisses.         “I need to go… before I end up doing something on the street my momma would kill me for.” He sighed loudly before placing one more, gentle kiss on her lips and stepping back to release her. “I have dinner with my parents tomorrow, but can I see you on Tuesday night?”         Sasha didn’t really trust her voice at that moment, so she simply nodded, still incredibly distracted by this man’s presence. She wanted to take his hand and drag him up to her home… to her bed, but she’d never been the aggressor before in sexual situations, and as soon as she hesitated, the old voices in her head undermined her passion.         “Do you want to come for dinner?” she cleared her throat and smiled up at him. “We could watch a movie after?”         “I’d love to, that sounds perfect.”         He leaned down and placed one more kiss on her lips, groaning as she kissed him back before he retreated once more. “What are you doing to me, Sasha?” The whispered words made her smile as he opened the door and watched her walk up the stairs to her apartment.         “I have no idea…” she muttered back, her libido on fire and a perma-grin on her face.         I might not know exactly what I’m doing, but whatever it is… I know I want more of it.
