Crashing HardBy Kimberlie L. Faye
BLURB:
He’s a lifesaver
EMT Ryan Murphy is smart, sexy, and arrogant when it comes to his job and his personal life. Saving lives and looking hot while doing it isn’t always easy or glamorous. No one is immune to his charms except for one stubborn and uptight nurse, and he’d love nothing more than to get under more than just her skin.
She’s a lifesaver
Helena Carter is an experienced emergency room nurse and can handle any situation with calm, stalwart determination but just hearing Ryan’s husky voice is enough to make her look like it’s her first day on the job. He may be irresistible but she isn’t going to admit that fact to anyone else, especially him. He’s cocky, sarcastic, and nothing she’s interested in. Besides, the last thing she wants is a relationship right now, right? She fell in love once before and was taken for all she had. She’s not about to make the same mistake again. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.
After one scorching night of passion leads to a few misunderstandings, could the delicate pulse of their relationship come to a lethal halt? Can they get past this or will the new romance take a turn for the worse and crash hard?
EXCERPT:
Ryan waved over to the waiter, who winked and held his finger up and mouthed one minute. Ryan gave him a thumbs up. “I’m gonna order a real pizza.”
Helena’s eyes widened. “What would a real pizza consist of in your book?”The white tips of his perfect teeth tugged on his plush bottom lip before he answered. What she wouldn’t give to tug on his lip with her own teeth. “Extra pepperoni, extra mozzarella cheese, and well done. I don’t like my toppings slipping off my pizza.” He winked again, and she smiled despite herself. No matter how many times he winked at her, it never got old. “Well, I’ll have what you’re having. Hawaiian pizza is just…yuck.”
The waiter sauntered over to Ryan’s side and leaned in close to him. “What can I get for you? Your order is my command.”
Helena watched with rapt fascination as Ryan ordered, seemingly oblivious to the fact the waiter was flirting with him.
“You got it, hun.” The waiter waggled an eyebrow at him before strolling away.
“What? You look surprised by something.” Ryan crossed his arms and stretched his long, thickly muscled legs just under the table. He fidgeted, and his leg rhythmically tapped hers until she grabbed his thigh under the table. He stopped and ran his large, warm hand over hers on his thigh.
“You…your leg is banging mine,” she stammered.
He moved quick and whispered in her ear, “Is there something else you’d like me to bang instead?”
Her stomach flipped, and heat suffused her entire body. She squeezed his thigh and pulled her hand away and cleared her throat. “The waiter was flirting with you.”
“Yeah, so what?” He stretched his arms behind his head and was sitting back, relaxed with outstretched legs, and Helena wondered, for a split second, what it would be like to straddle him on the seat.
Helena took a nice, big gulp of her ice cold beer. She couldn’t get her mind out of the gutter when she was around him. “It didn’t make you feel uncomfortable?”
Ryan shook his head. “No, why would it? I’m flattered but not interested in him.” His mug froze part way to his lips, and his eyes widened. “You thought I would be rude or offended by his interest?”
Helena fidgeted in her seat. He was right, of course. She did think he would be an asshole about it. She looked down and picked at the invisible lint on her pants. “Uh, yeah, I guess I did think you would be rude,” she sighed and smiled sheepishly, “I’m sorry.”
His grin made her heartbeat quicken. “You’re forgiven as long as you help me eat this pizza.” The flirty waiter placed the pizza down with a flourish and perched his hands on his hips.
Ryan’s eyes widened. “Wow, that was fast.”
“Like I said, hon, your wish is my command.” He raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow in Helena’s direction. “You’re a lucky girl.”
“Oh, we’re not together.” She reached over to take a slice of pizza and almost knocked over her beer, catching it before it soaked everything on the table.
The waiter pointed at her and bent toward her as if to impart some secret information. “Well, you should be because he is hawt.”
Ryan coughed. “Umm, I’m right here and can hear you.”
The cheeky waiter turned with a flourish and walked away with the expertise of a runway model and muttered over his shoulder, “I know you can hear me.”
“Then can you bring us some hot pepper flakes?” Ryan and Helena spoke at almost the same time. They started to laugh, and the waiter whistled low and walked away to retrieve a bottle of red pepper flakes from a recently vacated table.
Helena dragged a steaming slice of pizza onto her plate without almost spilling or knocking over anything and thanked the waiter when he handed the bottle to her. She sprinkled the flakes all over her slice. “You’re not what I expected, Ryan.”
He bumped his shoulder into hers. “So does that mean you like me?”
She winked at him and gave him a sly smile. “Maybe?” She caught Rosa’s wide-eyed expression and held back a giggle. She never giggled. Giggling was for little girls but after a large beer, she was giggling like a school girl. Yeah, she was flirting with the last guy she should be, but what could it hurt? She was an adult and had every right to lead on whoever she wanted. Heaven knew Ryan did, didn’t he?
“Well, I like a woman who isn’t afraid of eating something spicy.” He nodded his head at her slice of pizza, almost covered entirely with a layer of hot pepper flakes.
A chunk of hot cheese bathed in tomato sauce landed with a thump on her left breast before she even got a bite to her mouth. She looked down at it with a wince. It was hard to be flirty and sexy when you had a clump of hot cheese searing a hole through your shirt and bra. It might as well be lava and she bit her lip and resisted the urge to swear profusely and yank her shirt off. She’d have to grin and bear it and deal with the first degree burn later.
“I’d be more than happy to lick that off your shirt.” Ryan’s husky murmur caressed the shell of her ear and tickled her ear drum. Goosebumps erupted all over her and suddenly the idea of yanking her shirt off didn’t sound half bad.
She bit back a smile and took the napkin he offered to her and wiped the mess off her shirt. “I’m sure laundry detergent will do the job just fine.” She dipped a napkin into her ice water and wiped the cheese off, and a red sauce stain was left behind, bright and obnoxious. “I can’t seem to eat anything without wearing it.”

When lies and fear shake their newly laid foundation, only an act of bravery and trust will save them from ruin.
EXCERPT:
He reached for her, and she undid her buckle and straddled his lap in a heartbeat, just as eager as he was.
She gripped his face between her hands and stared him down.
“You’re not a creep or a weirdo. You are so fucking special, and I’m not running anywhere.”
Then she kissed him, lips aggressively seeking his own. The memory of her lips that he’d been tending in his mind since yesterday was blown away by the reality. He hadn’t pictured taking her in his truck, but never let it be said he wasn’t flexible. She met him kiss for kiss, thrust for thrust, grinding her sweet core against his rock hard cock, making him curse the denim holding him prisoner.
Her ass was wedged against his steering wheel, and he took full advantage of her relative and willing captivity. He reached his hands under her shirt, needing to see, to touch, to taste her gorgeous breasts that had driven him crazy all morning, happily peeking out of her shirt.
When he discovered the lacy concoction that held them in place, he was surprised by the feminine detail given her usual tomboy exterior but so damn grateful for yet another erotic image to tuck away in his memory.
Lowering his head, he dusted kisses across her collarbone while his fingers tried to free her from the pink lace. One pert nipple escaped only to be captured by his lips seconds later. Her groans and the grip she had on his hair as she wrapped her arms around his head, holding him to his task, was all the encouragement he needed.
He was beyond thought, a mass of burning need. This woman wasn’t afraid of his strength or his size. She was taking what he was giving and pushing him for more. He wanted to give it to her. The thought of giving it to her over and over until she cried out in pleasure almost set him off. He boosted her up, trying to get her skirt out of his way, and got distracted from his plan by her gorgeous bra-framed tits thrust up against his chin. When she leaned back to give him better access, he was derailed by a far less pleasant sensation. The sound of his horn blaring made them both jump. Startled back to reality, Trina clambered back to her side of the truck.
“This isn’t working,” she said, tugging her bra up and her shirt down. He hissed as she slid her skirt back down to her knees. His cock was not a happy camper. It took every ounce of restraint not to follow her to the other side of his cab. He closed his eyes and gripped the steering wheel reflexively as if that could keep him in check.
“Hey.” Her voice called to him, soft and a little shy, and he opened his eyes. She had her purse and her phone in one hand tugging on the door handle and was pulling a moving blanket over the back of the seat with the other. “Are you coming?”
“Dear God, I hope so.” He opened his glove box, snagged an emergency condom, and followed wherever she wanted to lead.

BLURB:
As a private detective, Riley Scott has witnessed her fair share of the ugly side of relationships. She guards her heart like a fortress, but a pair of sizzling blue eyes threatens to take down all of her barriers. He came to her rescue through a blazing fire. Now, she could only hope he would not incinerate her heart.
Tristan Cain hasn’t been able to let go of his red-headed angel, or his promise to get justice. Fate throws them together again when he once thought it would be impossible, and when a daring rescue turns out to be the least of their worries, Tristan vows to keep her safe. He’s not letting Riley out of his sight again.
EXCERPT:
Dance with me?”
So engrossed in her conversation with Tristan, Riley hadn’t even noticed the dance floor was starting to fill up. She reveled in the idea of finally being close to him after so many times imagining it. “I’d love to.”
They polished off the rest of their second round of drinks and Tristan took her hand and led her to the dance floor. She noticed Terry dancing it up with an attractive guy, possibly in his early to mid-thirties, and not one of the guys from James’ table. When their eyes met, Terry winked at her, and Riley already anticipated the grilling she’d receive from him later.
“I’m glad to see he’s having fun,” she said close to Tristan’s ear. He had his arms wrapped loosely around her waist as they slowly swayed from side to side despite the medium tempo. “He just broke up with someone yesterday.”
Tristan glanced over to where Terry was dancing and wearing a huge grin. “He doesn’t look very torn up about it.” His breath tickled her ear as he spoke, his voice deep and smooth like velvet, causing a shiver to travel up and down her spine, and she wondered what else he could do to her with other parts of him if just his voice had this much of an effect on her.
“As he shouldn’t,” Riley managed to say after barely composing herself. “His ex-boyfriend is Kevin’s brother, the guy you saw me with at the coffee shop.”
Tristan threw his head back and laughed. She felt the rumble in his chest, anticipating what he would say next just so she could feel his warm breath tingle on her skin again. “Not a match made in heaven either then, I gather?”
She shook her head.
Tristan brought his head close to hers, skimming his nose against her own. She was grateful for the added height tonight with her four-inch heels, though he still had to bend somewhat. At five foot four inches tall and the fact that she usually wore boots or shoes with some sort of heel, she never really felt all that petite, despite being right at the cusp. Tristan was just extremely tall, taller than anyone she’d ever dated. Somehow, with the way his arms were wrapped around her, his body close, heat rising between them, he made her feel protected. No one had ever made her feel that way before, not really. Her dad and now Terry were the only two people she’d ever really trusted. With everyone else, she always wore a tough exterior, spikes and barbed wire, to ward off anyone who tried to mess with her.Could she possibly let this man break through all that?
He lifted her chin so she would look at him. She saw the question of permission in his eyes, and with a slight nod, she gave it to him. Her eyes closed, their lips met, tentatively at first, and she opened for him, their tongues meeting half way. His lips were soft and the dance his tongue was doing with hers was slow and sensual. Soon, the kiss became deeper, bolder. She could feel his length hardening against her as he pulled her in closer, her own body reacting and filling with need for him.
His kisses became more playful after a while, nipping at her top and bottom lip in turn until he pulled away from her completely. He looked suddenly angry as he stepped back from Riley, putting a gap of distance between them.
Riley turned, following his line of sight and immediately saw the reason for his anger.

Diamond in the RoughBy Danielle James
BLURB:
A diamond in the rough…
The family diamond business is all Ethan Withers has, and for the last seven years, it’s been everything to him. Inherited at only 18, his father’s passion has become his life’s work.

A hidden gem… Christina McAlister was smart, funny, sexy, and everything he never knew he wanted. She hides her sparkle behind her drive to finish her law degree. Having been hurt before, she doesn’t have time or the desire for love.
Just the right amount of friction, and a chance encounter, and a lot of heat sparks will change them both. Will they be able see past their individual goals in order to claim a once in a lifetime prize?

EXCERPT:
Ethan tipped his hat, bowing to her. “Thank you for the dance,” he rumbled.
“Yeah! Whoohoo! That’s what I’m talking about!” Dana shouted from the sidelines.
“Oh, my god,” Christina said on a laugh, bending at the waist, feeling slightly embarrassed.
She’s Everything, by Brad Paisley, started playing and couples moved their way back onto the dance floor. “May I have another?” he asked her, holding out his hand.
“If you don’t dance with him, I will!” Dana shouted again. Christina waved at her friend, then took Ethan’s hand.
He pulled her in close, so close that their bodies were touching. Her hands automatically went to his chest as his arms wrapped around her waist. He moved slowly, looking down at her the entire time. His stare was so intense that Christina couldn’t hold it, so she laid her head on his chest. Even though she’d only just met him, she was comfortable being this close to him. Right then, he wasn’t a complete stranger, but someone she’d known forever. She knew all she needed to know about him. She could hear him singing low, the timbre rumbling in his chest. She could hear his heart beating and she could smell him. Lord, she could smell him. Soap and man. Her insides turned to mush and really, she just wanted to take him in the back and jump his bones.
Why couldn’t she? Christina was leaving the next day. It wasn’t like she was going to see him again. Ignoring the pang in her heart, she lifted her head to look up at him. He was still staring down at her. His full lips curled into a small smile, exposing a dimple in his left cheek. She rose up on her toes, pulling his head down. Ethan tipped his hat, covering both of their faces, and then he kissed her.
His lips touched hers and a slow burn spread throughout her body. Every nerve ending in was alive and firing at the same time. His kiss was soft and gentle, teasing her until she sucked his lower lip into her mouth. He moaned softly, cupped her cheek in his hand, and then pushed his tongue into her mouth. Christina could taste the faint hint of whiskey on him, but more than that was his taste. She twisted her fingers in the back of his too-long hair, holding him closer to her. When he broke the kiss, she wanted to scream, but she realized the song had ended. She knew what she was thinking was a bad idea, yet she was going to do it anyway.
****
Ethan could have kissed her forever, he decided as he looked down into her stormy grey eyes. “Thank you,” he said.
Christina smiled mischievously at him and took his hand. “Come with me,” she commanded.
He would have followed her anywhere.
She led him toward the back, past the restrooms and into a darkened hallway. “Where are we going?” he asked.
“Right here,” she said, pushing him against the wall. She grabbed his face and pulled him down for another kiss. Ethan was all too happy to oblige.  She tasted of lemon but underneath that was the sweetest wine. Sucking on her tongue, he savored her taste, holding her hips still. She broke the kiss and began kissing his neck. Ethan’s head tipped back and a moan escaped him. She was going to kill him. He knew it. She continued her sweet torture and he knew he would never survive it.
Unable to take it anymore, he switched their positions so she was against the wall. She looked up at him with fire in her eyes and he knew he was right. Her lips were swollen and wet and he couldn’t resist another taste. But this time, he didn’t stay there. He kissed his way along her jaw to her neck, sucking and nibbling down to her collar bone.
“Not here,” she said.  Ethan realized that they were getting into it pretty heavy and even though they were hidden, anyone could come walking by. They were in public. In a bar. Which brought on another thought. “How much have you had to drink?” he asked.
She raised a brow at him. “Seriously?”
Ethan shook his head. “Look, there’s nothing I want more than to throw you in my truck, take you back to my hotel, and make you scream my name all night. But I can’t if you’re drunk. So please, tell me; how much have you had to drink?”
“What makes you think I want to go with you?” she asked, straightening her spine and brushing her skirt down. “Just so you know, I’ve had one shot and a half a beer. But no worries, this was a bad idea anyway.”
“Wait,” he said when she turned to walk away. “I just wanted to make sure you weren’t going to regret it in the morning.”
“I don’t do regrets.” She put her hands on her hips. “Now, are you gonna throw me in that truck or not?”
Ethan didn’t need any more encouragement. He leaned down and scooped her up, tossing her over his shoulder then walked out of the bar caveman style.

Keep You SafeBy CR Moss
 BLURB:
I’m Professor Arianna Perez, and I’ve been asked if I’ll ever trust, let alone love, another man again. After dumping an abusive boyfriend, I doubted I would. At least, that’s how I felt until fate had sexy wrangler, Kian Bishop, reappearing in my life in a way I never expected.
Against my better judgement, I fell hard for the cowboy, believing everything he said, including how he wanted to treat me like a queen and keep me safe. Little did I know, though, that the circumstances that’d brought us together could also tear us apart…and possibly claim my life.
EXCERPT:
Kian sat back and rubbed his chin. “He’s still bothering you?”
Nodding, I continued to breathe deep to allay my anxiety. “Kind of.”
“He sounds like a jerk. If you were mine, I’d treat you like a queen. I’d do anything I could to keep you safe and free from harm.”
“If I were yours?” God, how I wanted to believe that a man would do that. Be a true gentleman, someone who would treat me right, someone I could trust not turn into a pig. Even if Kian spoke the truth, there were other factors to consider. “You do remember there’s an age gap between us, right? That I’m older than you?”
He lifted a shoulder again. “So? We’re both adults. ‘Consenting’ adults. I hated that my family moved, and I couldn’t see you anymore. That I only had you in my fantasies.”
“Wait. What?” This time I couldn’t hide the surprise on my face. “You fantasized about me?”
“All the time.” He chuckled, and pink tinged his cheeks. “I thought you were the prettiest woman I’d ever seen, and I was a hormonal teen. I wasn’t joking before when I said you’re beautiful.”
Compliments. Wants. Desires. The claims coming from him made my breath catch on such an intense wave of yearning it almost hurt.
‘Oh, Lord, what kind of spell is this man weaving over me?’
“I appreciate the sentiment, but like I’d said, you could have your pick. Why would you want an older lady with ten to twenty extra pounds on her frame?” Under my breath, I couldn’t stop myself from adding, “Chad used to say no man wanted a chubby-wubby.”
Kian pursed his lips. “We’ve already established that Chad’s a tool. Me? I think you’re perfect the way you are. You don’t need to lose a pound.” He smiled. His gaze softened. “God, I really want to kiss you.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Before I knew it, he leaned across the table, gently palmed my cheek and placed his lips on mine. Hungry desire flooded me. I couldn’t deny my body’s response or the fact that I was seriously attracted to Kian. I wanted the kiss to deepen, but luckily, I had enough wits about me to not go crazy with the public display of affection.
Then, as quick as it started, it ended. He sat back, taking any decisions I might have had to make out of my hands.
“Thank you,” he said. “I’ve wanted to do that for ages.”
More heat blossomed in my face. I couldn’t believe how much I’d been blushing. His attentions and presence made me feel like a silly, teenager in the throes of my first crush.

Heat SinkBy Cecile Tellier
BLURB:
Christian Harrington went to work every day as a steamfitter at the local nuclear energy plant with some expectation of danger. When Christian meets fiery bartender Roxy McVee he quickly realizes he may have met his match. Unfortunately, Christian is not the only person with their sights set on Roxy.
Roxy McVee had wanted a fresh start. Slinging drinks and telling jokes at the local bar in Upstate NY seemed like a great way to go. Her decision is rewarded when serious but sexy as hell Christian Harrington walked into the bar with his friends after work. Roxy’s immediate reaction to him leads her to become comfortable around him. Unfortunately, the reason for Roxy’s move proves that the saying that the things one resist, persist is true. Roxy and Christian must navigate a potentially deadly landmine in the form of one very dangerous visitor from her past.
EXCERPT:
“I actually love most food, and I’m not a vegetarian. Do you cook for ladies often? Never mind. You don’t have to answer that. I don’t even know why I asked.” Shaking her head, Roxy could feel her face flush. Why did she asked such a personal question?
“I don’t mind answering. You’re the first non-relative female I’ve cooked for, or invited over for that matter. I work a lot. It doesn’t leave me a lot of time to host get-togethers with the fairer sex.” His wry expression caused goosebumps  to rise over her arms.
“Well, I’m glad I happened to meet you at the right time, then.” Roxy was unused to the butterflies floating around in her stomach at his response.“What about you? I know what Manny said, but I’m assuming you’ve got a pretty steady stream of date offers.” Christian plate before putting a bite in his mouth.
“I do, but you’re actually the first I’ve accepted in a few years.” She followed suit by eating some of her lasagna.
“Why did you accept mine?” His voice was soft, and he was no longer eating but watching her closely.
“I…it’s hard to explain. You felt right. I don’t mean in the literal sense. You just weren’t someone I wanted to say no to.” She took another bite out of nervousness, but closed her eyes at the taste of melted ricotta and paremsian cheese blending with the perfectly cooked lasagna noodles and a red sauce she would bet was home made.
“This is amazing by the way.” Changing the subject seemed like the best choice at the time. Roxy wasn’t comfortable with spilling her guts on the first date, even if she meant everything she’d said.
“Thank you, I watched a video on how to make my own sauce. The rest is pretty easy.” He shrugged but took another bite.
They ate the rest of their meal, talking about their respective work.
“Do you get a lot of Homer Simpson jokes when you tell people you work at nuclear reactors?” Roxy helped him load the dishwasher and accepted the cold beer he offered.
“No, mainly because I don’t actually work in the operation of it. I’m there to make sure their systems that create and carry the steam power through the reactor stay safe and functional. Most of the time, I’m in there is for planned maintenance or during shutdowns for renovations.”
“Well, that makes sense then. Do you like donuts, though?” Roxy couldn’t resist.
Christian laughed and nodded. “I do, in fact like donuts, but I don’t eat them much. Want to see something great?”
Before Roxy could agree, he was leading her upstairs to an open loft area that led to one of the wraparound deck doors. Once outside, they were treated to a full view of the moon and stars in the night sky.
“Wow, that’s beautiful. Do you spend a lot of time out here?” Roxy leaned against the railing and inhaled the smell of lilacs growing around the property.
Christian put his hands on either side of her on the deck and spoke from behind her. “I do, it’s where I recalibrate myself.”
“Oh, talk steamfitter to me.” Roxy shivered but pressed back so that her back was flush against his chest and pressed against him rather than just caged by his arms.
“Hmm, fire caulk…” Christian’s arms wrapped around her and she felt his chin rested on the top of her head.
Roxy erupted into giggles and hugged his arms to her. “You’re the whole package aren’t you Christian?”
“I don’t know what you mean.” Christian nuzzled her ear, the tingles moving from the affected part down her body to less directly involved places.
“You work hard, you’re talented, you’re smart, and you have a sense of humor. What’s your downside?” She pushed into his wayward mouth and bit her lip.
Christian nibbled on her earlobe and murmured, “Most likely that I’m slow to decide things but when I do want something I’m pretty laser focused.”
The vibration of his voice against her skin pulled an involuntary moan from her lips. “I would say that’s a bonus in most things.”
“You’d have to let me know, since I’m focused on you.” Roxy shivered hard at the words and arched back against him.
“I’d say from where I’m standing, it’s pretty fuckin awesome.”

Sex MechanicBy Bella Settarra
BLURB:
Known locally as the ‘Sex Mechanic’ with a ‘love’em and leave ’em’ approach to women, Ben Steadman is astonished to suddenly develop feelings for a new girl in town. She has a flat tire that he is happy to help with. Unfortunately she also has a couple of kids in tow, making her strictly off-limits– especially when he hears their daddy’s in the military.
Iona Walker is filling in at her uncle’s firm, although admin doesn’t exactly excite her. She is smitten with the handsome mechanic who helps her out, although she senses mixed signals.
After his boss’ heart attack, Ben realizes that his job isn’t as safe as he’d hoped as he struggles to keep the company afloat. Iona is delighted to offer her help with the business, especially as it means them working together. However, a concoction of misunderstandings and interference seems destined to keep the two apart...
EXCERPT:
Ben drove the Jeep to the bar just a couple of blocks away. It was the last place he wanted to be, and she was the last person he wanted to be with, though he couldn’t convince his cock of that. The damn thing had been fidgeting about in his pants ever since she’d shown up. His brain, on the other hand, was admonishing him for going ahead with the stupid idea, but it was too late now.
He was glad it wasn’t too busy inside; it was still early. While Connie went to the bathroom, he ordered a couple of drinks and chose a table near the door. He wasn’t planning to stay long. At least the air con works in here, he thought to himself.
“You remembered my favourite drink.” She appeared, fresh-faced and beaming, a few minutes later.
“The bartender did,” he lied.
She looked a little disappointed, but sat down and took hold of her glass.“I haven’t got long. I need to take a shower,” he reminded her bluntly.
She nodded. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have dragged you out like this.”“Why did you?” He knew he didn’t sound very sympathetic, but she was quite right. She shouldn’t have.
“I needed to talk to you.” She looked sad again, and he dreaded a repeat of those damn tears. Despite all the sobbing she’d done just now, there wasn’t a tear-stain on her face and her eyes were as beautiful as ever—not in the least puffy or red.
“You got boyfriend trouble?”
She gaped at him and then smiled. “You know me so well.”
He snorted. It didn’t take a genius.
“I shouldn’t have left you for him,” she said, that bottom lip quivering.
“You didn’t,” he reminded her. “I caught you both together and finished with you if you recall.” He gave her a stern look. How stupid does she think I am?
She huffed. “Well, whatever. It was a mistake, okay? It shouldn’t have happened. I was drunk.”
“For the whole three weeks you were seeing him behind my back?” He leaned backward in his chair, staring at her. Either she had a very short memory or she figured he did. She’d bragged about the fact she’d been seeing the fucker right under his nose, calling him all kinds of stupid. He wasn’t about to forget that.
She turned red and started to drum her perfectly manicured nails on the table with one hand while she clutched her glass with the other. “You know how I am,” she said after a while.
“I sure do.”
She sat up straight and frowned. “Why are you being so mean?”
He sighed and took another swig of his beer. It wasn’t as cold as he’d have liked, but he guessed that was more to do with the heat of his hand. His whole body felt like it was burning up—firstly because he’d been trying to keep his erection under control, and now because she was really winding him up.
She stopped rapping her nails and started twirling her hair instead.
“I’m guessing you’ve had a row with him, then?” His voice sounded as weary as he felt.
“Not exactly.” She pouted.
He stared at her expectantly. No way was he about to drag the information from her. He wasn’t even interested.
She must have got the message because she went on after a few minutes. “I’ve left him,” she said. “He was cheating on me.” The sniffling started again.
“What goes around comes around,” he told her, determined not to be taken in this time. He took another swig of his drink.
“I thought you’d understand,” she said sulkily, sniffing hard.
“Oh I understand, all right,” he said with a snicker. “You’ve realized the guy’s not as perfect as you’d like so you’ve dumped him. Well, I hate to tell you, darlin’, but I ain’t perfect either.” He drank the last mouthful of beer as he stood up to go.
“I wouldn’t say that.” Her eyes were wide as she grabbed his arm.
“Yeah you would.” He shook his head incredulously. “In fact, you said a lot more than that when I caught you making out.”
“I didn’t mean it,” she insisted.
He pulled his arm from her grip. “Yes, you did.” He nodded. “And I meant what I said, too. It’s over. You don’t get to crap on me twice.” He turned and left the bar, gasping as the warm air hit him as soon as he stepped outside. He strolled back to the garage and fetched his truck, berating himself every step of the way. Why am I such a dumbass?

Beer GogglesBy Ava Campbell

BLURB:
Connor Callahan did his best work when it came to beer and babes. As long as live was full of laughs, he was good. It wasn’t until some hot shot journalist started asking questions that his past that he'd tried so hard to forget came back to haunt him.
Allison Drake, top notch reporter was bumped down to do a fun and leisure piece about a bar and new up and coming brew master. She was going to do everything in her power to hurry things along and go back to the big city where she belonged.
However, a car accident, and a few beers later, things change between them. Things aren’t always as black and white as they were before. Can the two of them face the truth about themselves, and be open to the future, or will they both live life with their beer goggles on?
EXCERPT:
Allison had one job to do, and it seemed she had gotten everything she needed for the story, and then some.  Taking the drink Conner gave her, she sipped it, enjoying the taste and the coolness calming her throat after talking so long.  It seemed that he and the bar had a very large following.  It was an easy piece to write, in fact, she could have it done by tonight and sent off.  That was if she wanted to leave right away.  Something called to her in this little town, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city she had grown up in.  Connor wasn’t a bad way to spend the night either.  It had been a while since she had been with anyone, even though she was with Doyle not that long ago.  The sexual draw just wasn’t there, but Connor, now she could almost see herself getting tangled up in the sheets with him and not coming up for air for a long time.  Too bad he was just a playboy type and not one to stay long term.  Maybe that was just what she needed.  Some way to let off all the stress and drama that came with her job.
Her phone buzzed indicating she had a text. Pulling it out, she felt her once happy mood crumble as the message was from Doyle asking when she was coming back and to have drinks when she returned, again.  Damn it, couldn’t she just get a break for at least a weekend?
“Boyfriend bugging you about being away from home?”  He asked, bumping her shoulder playfully as he sat next to her on an empty bar stool.
“No, I mean, shit I don’t know. He’s not my boyfriend, well he was, I guess it’s complicated.  Anyway, so yea.” She let her statement float away while taking a large drink of her beer, begging the liquor to do its job and dull her senses, even for a night.
“Well, if it means anything, he’s an idiot. And you should totally send him a barfing emoji.”  Turning to look at him, she laughed.  What was he?  She hadn’t used emojis in forever, not that she really had anyone to send them to.”  He swiped her phone out of her hand, calling a number, his and then hung up.  Watching what he was doing, she waited while he fiddled with his screen.  Her phone buzzed, and a silly face popped up next to a beer.  Oh my god, that was too funny.
“See they can be funny and totally fit the situation.  Now you send me one.  I promise I won’t judge.”  Wanting to play his little game, she hit the icon on her phone and scrolled looking at different ones before finding two people high fiving each other.  This went back and forth for a while until something bothered her.
“Hey, why do they have the eggplant?  Who would send that?”
“You’re so cute and innocent.  Normally it is about someone’s cock.”  She spat her beer and totally understood it now. That was too funny.
“So, do we start referring to someone’s junk as an eggplant.  Is that what you call yours?”  feeling braver as time went on, she felt more comfortable with asking odd questions she normally wouldn’t.
“Nah.  I call mine the truth.”  His eyes twinkled as he smirked.
Huh, okay, she would bite this time.  “The truth?”    “Oh yeah, because the truth hurts.”  At that, she busted up laughing.  Holy shit this man was funny.  “Oh, come on, now you can’t ever think of something with truth in it without thinking about my large cock.”  She was not going to anymore.  Yet he continued to go on with various movie references and titles.  “I want the truth. You can’t handle the truth.”  “The truth shall set you free.”  Oh god. She was laughing so hard at this point, she had to pee.  Excusing herself, she went to freshen up.  Quickly as she could, she went back to the bar, only to see her seat was taken by a beautiful raven-haired woman, with a perfect body and leaning on Connor.  He was smiling brightly at her, calling for a drink from Jett.  She hadn’t been gone that long.  Guess he was just like she thought, a playboy.  All about the beer and some babes.  Only she was a pawn floating around trying to be something she wasn’t, writing a story about his place.  Fine.  She didn’t need to stay where she wasn’t really wanted.  Taking some money out of her wallet, she put it on the end of the bar, away from Connor, nodding to Jett and walked out the door, avoiding getting seen.
She was going to finish the story, drive home, and go back to where things were normal.  Where she was normal.  Boring for sure, but normal, whatever that meant anymore.

Fighting the InfernoBy Ashley Malkin
BLURB:
Blayne Simmons is a firefighter, a job he loves as much as he hates the flames he battles. He exists in a world on fire, but is frozen inside by the scars of a fire he failed to conquer. He works hard, plays even harder. Satisfying his needs, nothing more, until Felicity Kendall enters his tightly-controlled world.
Felicity is alone. She has to be, because everyone, everything, she loves burns to ashes. When a ruggedly handsome firefighter attempts to pick her up in a bar she's stung by the bitter irony. He's clueless to the depths of her hatred of firemen. They saved her as a child, and delivered her into a world of pain. She should have burned. She wished she had.
When fire thrusts Felicity into Blayne's arms, he discovers she is the victim of a deadly game. A game he will win, because Felicity is now his.
EXCERPT:
“What are we heading into, Dan?” Blayne asked, wanting to be prepared. His intense focus had kept him from being burned again, and he intended to keep it that way.
“House fire. Phoned in by a neighbor, no word yet on anyone being unaccounted for.”
If there was anyone missing, Blayne would go in and find them, it was his specialty. He would never leave anyone to the flames. He knew how much it hurt, how frightening it was to feel trapped and helpless. He always got them out, even if they were dead, he never left them to burn.
The house was gone when they arrived, the flames shooting through the roof and high into the night sky. People were huddled in groups on lawn across the wide street. Some wore only night gowns or pyjamas, others had coats thrown over their night attire.
“Go,” Dan said to him. “Put the hoses on the garage,” he called to the other four men on the crew. “I’ve spoken to the home owners, we might have someone trapped on the top floor.”
Blayne turned the headset microphone on, released the valve on his air cylinder and fitted the mask. He was ready to enter by the time he was standing by the door. It was hot, but not molten. He donned his gloves and stepped aside as he flung open the door.
Smoke rushed out, but no flames. He entered the garage, looking for the woman he was seeking, in case she’d made it downstairs before succumbing to the smoke. Flames were coming through the rear wall, and he ducked as a petrol can exploded in the heat. Flames filled the air above him, and he waited for the flare to dissipate before continuing his search.
There was no car in the garage, and he could see the stairs leading to the second level were smoking, but not yet alight.
“It’s clear downstairs, I’m going up to look for her.”
“Kenny will join you when the hoses are set.”
Blayne tested the bottom step, it creaked, but held firm. Taking the stairs two at a time, he swore as another petrol can exploded below him. The door at the top of the landing was intact. He twisted the handle, but it didn’t move. He unclipped his axe, and with one swing, the door knob was gone.
The door swung open and smoke billowed over him. The room was dark and filled to the ceiling with smoke. He was blind, so, this is where he used his other senses. Blocking out the roar of the flames and the hiss as the water hit them, he listened for signs of life.
Walking slowly, he tested the floor with each step, making sure it would hold him. He could see the flames growing higher through the smoke. The fire was going to take this house, all of it. He had another five minutes, tops, and the room was going to be engulfed, despite the water they were pumping at it.
Then he heard it. Sobs, faint, but wracking. The flames were loud, but he’s used to listening for the sounds of the living amongst the roar of the fire’s tempest. She was here. As tempting as it was to throw caution to the wind and run to find this Felicity woman, he couldn’t save her if he was dead. He turned and trod carefully toward the sounds, rewarded as the sobs grew louder.
“No more,” he heard. “Not again, not again. It’s not real.”
He banged into something solid, and heard a small scream. He felt around, and decided it was some sort of desk or a table. Squatting, he could just make out a huddled shape curled beneath the piece of furniture. A woman was curled in a ball, her arms around her knees, as she rocked.
“Felicity?”
She started and lifted her head. Wide, terrified eyes stared out of an elfin face. A face he’d seen before. It was the woman from the bar, only now she looked fragile and defeated. He knew that with one touch, she’d shatter. She was begging to be saved from the nightmare with that look. Not the nightmare of this fire, but the nightmare of whatever was haunting her, chasing her. She was defeated, scared, alone, helpless. Fuck.
The roar of the flames rushing into the room was deafening, taking all other options from him. It was time to leave. Ignoring the fact that she didn’t like to be touched, he reached in and scooped her up. It was that or leave her to the flames. Not an option.
Blayne scarcely noticed her added weight as he rose to his feet, remaining stooped as the ceiling started to flame. She weighed nothing, but what was more disturbing was that it was her. The woman who had consumed his thoughts, his dreams, for two weeks.
Hunching over the delicate woman in his arms, he protected her from the heat at his back with his jacket and his body. He trod a careful path back to the stairs, fighting an unfamiliar fear with each step on the smoking timber floor. If he lost her now, then he’d never discover who she was and what made her so unforgettable. I need to solve the fucking mystery and purge her from my system. His arms tightened reflexively around her at that thought and he swore loudly at his confusing reaction.
“Are you real? Is this all a dream?” He barely hears her murmured words above the roar.
“No, angel. This is a fucking nightmare.” The fire, and the complication she was proving to be to his sanity.
“All dreams are nightmares,” she murmured, coughing weakly as her eyes flutter closed.
“Fuck.” She was out, her body now hanging limply in his arms. He pulled her close and hated how his heart clenched. She felt good in his arms. Insane. This is fucking insane.

@evernightpub @mamaD8 Guest Blogger Doris O'Connor with HER HUSBAND'S ARMY BUDDY

Please welcome my guest blogger today, the lovely Doris O'Connor with HER HUSBAND'S ARMY BUDDY.
Thanks so much for hosting my new release today. Her Husband’s Army Buddy is out now, and the first in a new series called McLeod Security. Like so many of my stories, this one started as a flash on my blog. Little did I know then, that it would evolve into a series. When I expanded the flash, it was to be a short story in honor of one of my reader’s birthdays. The Sandy in the story J As I wrote it took on a life of its own, side characters popped up demanding their story to be told, and hey presto a new series was born. Book two is already completed and the next two are in the planning stages, so watch this space as they.I should add that all stories will be Standalones, loosely connected through McLeod Security, some darker than others, with different pairings and D/s dynamics, and familiar characters will pop up throughout.
Blurb:
McLeod Security, 1There should only ever be two people in a marriage...Sandy McLeod has been perfectly happy in her D/s relationship with her husband Zane for the last ten years. Until his old army buddy re-enters their life.Sean Manson is altogether too handsome, too virile, far too much of anything. The man oozes dominance, danger, and leashed aggression, and Sandy can’t help but respond to him. Neither can Zane. He walked away from Sean once. Now, he’s back, long suppressed feelings bubble to the surface and cannot be denied. When Sandy agrees to a threesome, happiness seems within their grasp. Sean’s demons, however, threaten to destroy everything they hold dear.Sean never meant to come between husband and wife, let alone hurt either one of them. Surely, the only solution is to walk away from them both. When you’re the missing piece, however, walking is simply not an option. Be Warned: menage sex (MMF), anal sex, BDSM, m/m sex, sex toys, double penetration
Available from:Evernight  Amazon  Amazon UK  Amazon CA  Amazon AU  Nook  Kobo Smashwords

Excerpt“We need to get her out of this dress, Sir.”Hearing her husband address Sean like that gave her a secret thrill, the likes of which she wouldn’t have thought possible. To know that she was at the mercy of two Doms, one of which was an unknown entity made this whole thing extra exciting. Whether it was the perceived danger Sean represented, the not knowing how far he would take things, her befuddled brain couldn’t quite figure out. She stopped thinking altogether when Zane unzipped her dress at the back, followed by the snap on her bra and slid his hands around her ribcage to cup her freed breasts.“Let her go a minute so we can lose these contraptions.” Zane’s grumbled command pitched her need even higher.Sean stopped kissing her, the pressure on her wrists ceased, and in the next instant she was naked, barring her soaked through thong, hold-up stockings, and the heels she still wore.“Fuck, you’re beautiful.” Sean’s deep voice showed his admiration of her body as much as his perusal of her as he stepped back and let his hot gaze roam all over. “Spread her for me, so that I can look my fill of our sweet cunt.”The dirty words turned her on almost as much as her husband’s immediate response.“Your wish is my command, Sir.”Zane kicked her legs apart and held her wrists firmly behind her back. Sean, in the meantime, shrugged out of his shirt, and kicked his shoes and trousers off with a speed that left her dizzy. As did the size of his erection straining against the damp confines of his boxers. To know she’d done that to him was a heady aphrodisiac indeed, as was her husband’s erection pushing against her ass.Sean divested himself of his boxers, too, and she gasped when his thick shaft bobbed up to his navel. She’d been right. He was huge. While his girth wasn’t as thick as Zane’s he had a good half inch in length, and Zane wasn’t exactly small in that department.Heavily veined, Sean’s magnificent cock looked ready to explode all over again, the broad tip already glistening in pre-cum.She wanted to taste him so badly, yet Zane’s grip on her wrists stopped her from reaching out. As though Sean had read her thoughts, he groaned and, taking his shaft in his hand, pumped a few times along its length.“Soon, you get to suck my cock, sweet girl, but for now, I need to taste you properly.” With that he got to his knees. As tall as he was that action brought his head level with her breasts, and he wasted no time in taking full advantage of that fact. Sean held each breast in his large hand, and grinning up at her pushed them together, before he took both nipples into his mouth and sucked hard.Sandy tugged at Zane’s restraints, and her knees would have buckled had Zane not pushed his thigh between her legs to keep her upright. Her head fell back against his shoulder, and she gave herself over to the intense sensations Sean’s talented tongue subjected her to. Her nipples had always been sensitive, a livewire straight to her clit, and with the dual sensation of Sean’s sucks and the gentle friction Zane’s leg created between her thighs, she climbed the rungs of arousal in record time. Her hips bucked against her husband’s leg as she sought to increase the friction she needed to go over. A sharp bite to her shoulder coincided with Sean releasing his hold on her nipples with an audible pop.“No coming without your Sirs’ permission, baby girl, or we’ll leave you hanging.”Sure enough, Zane withdrew his thigh, while Sean grasped her hips to keep her steady. He kissed his way down her soft belly, interspersing kisses with little bites that left her hovering on the precipice. He bypassed her pussy and, flinging one of her legs over his shoulder, nibbled along the edge of her stocking.“Hmm, as much as I love these, they need to come off. Look at me, pet.”Sandy’s eyes flew open, and the sight of Sean between her legs made another gush of moisture trickle past the elastic of her thong. He licked that trail away, and she groaned.“Please, I need to, please.”Grinning, Sean blew a stream of hot air across her still covered slit, and her clit contracted in need.“What do you need, sweet Sandy? Do you need to come?” He nudged his nose along her vulva, inhaling deeply, and Sandy jerked. Not that it got her very far because Zane’s hold on her wrists never lessened, and Sean’s fingers dug into her hips with so much pressure, she would surely be left with bruises. The thought of carrying his marks made breathing even more difficult, and she groaned her reply.“Please, so close, I … God…”She wasn’t entirely sure what pleas were spilling from her lips, and in truth she was far too gone to care. With Zane’s harsh breaths in her ear, and Sean’s dirty words she was a goner.“So very eager. I can see your little clit push against this lace. You’re close, aren’t you, sweet thing? Such a turn-on. What do you think, Zane, should we let her come or torture her some more?”Sean let go of her hips briefly to tear her thong clean off of her, and then he looked his fill.“So very wet, and pink. Your hole is clenching, begging to be filled. What do you want in there, pet? My tongue? My fingers? My cock? Or Zane’s? Tell me, or I’ll leave you hanging and fuck your husband instead.”  About DorisDoris is a writer of sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get.  From contemporary to paranormal, Sci-fi, BDSM, M/M, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.
