Lesson #300 of Being a Newbie Writer: Never Doubt Yourself

Why do I say that?

Because Feather Bound has just been nominated for the Compton Crook Award!!! ;____;

tumblr_lojrg1f6Wf1qm9vpho1_400

PEOPLE LIKE YOUR WORK! YOUR WORK MIGHT ACTUALLY BE GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN AN AWARD FROM LEGIT PEOPLE! How about that :D

This is a wonderful honour from the Baltimore Sc...

The Myth of the Strong Heroine in YA Novels

Sarah Raughley:

This is great. I think we need to rethink how we understand strength, weakness and potential for growth when it comes to YA heroines!

Originally posted on The Book Wars:

When Deanna’s missing friend Hyde turns up at his father’s funeral to claim his corporate empire and inheritance, she is swept into his glittering world of paparazzi and wealth.

This is THAT Post where a YA Author Talks about Getting Bad Reviews

Hee hee heee…..yeah. Reviews.

Image

Where do I start?

It’s a weird and wonderful thing, having strangers review your book and all.

I mean, I started off basically only writing stories for myself. Every once and a while, I’d show one or both of my older brothers, or a friend here and there. And I think there was that one creative writing class where we’d workshop each other’s short stories, but having strangers review your first novel? Experiencing that for the first time is…how do I even describe that...

Kpop Group TINT use Sailor Moon Heart Rod in “Wolf is Stupid”

Sarah Raughley:

This is adorable. I love TINT though right now they’re kind of flopping at a kpop group. I guess APink already have the market cornered on cute. Still A+++ for the Sailor Moon reference!

OMG THE NEW SAILOR MOON ANIME IS COMING

AND WE HAVE OUR FIRST IMAGE

Image

Things I’ve noticed:

1) I can tell that the animation is going to look a little glossy. This is to be expected with current technology and how it’s affected the look of anime (I mean, it’s not the 90s anymore much to my infinite sadness). But I still hope it’s not too computer-y and clean and slick.

2) The art style at first glance looks like it might be trying to get closer to Naoko’s art (Naoko Takeuchi being the mangaka and high priestess of Sailor Moon). I always...

Updates!

ZOMG I’m updated this site! Lol

I am so, so sorry that I am usually MIA from wordpress. To be honest, I know blogging is something writers should probably do, but it’s never really been my forte! Plus I feel like if I did blog, I’d end up flooding this place with posts upon posts about needing sleep, freaking out about my dissertation, needing sleep, etc etc.

But I will do my best! My new year’s resolution (is it too late for that) is definitely to keep this place posted, especially as I contin...
