groundbreaking

to-johnlock-hell-in-a-handbasket:

yes it would be bloody groundbreaking to have a late-coming-out bisexual character and he-was-always-gay-he-just-didn’t-go-around-telling-everyone gay character slow burn romance creeping up on a worldwide audience softly, gently, slowly, especially when those two are world-famous literary characters who have been theorised to be in love/in a relationship for over a hundred years.

but if that’s not enough for you, how about a show in which none of the queer characters dies. sure there have been plenty of gay (and some bi and trans) characters on mainstream tv in the last years but how many got a happy ending?

sherlock could be the show that puts an end to queerbaiting AND kill your gays in one. it could be the show that shows people that you don’t have to have every character be out from the beginning, or make them one-dimensional and flat and only defined by their queerness, and that they can quite naturally slide into a relationship AND BE BLOODY HAPPY. and the show still isn’t all about their queerness, it just is one of many aspects of these complicated characters. they don’t need to be forgiven for it, they just are. like your neighbour is. like that person on the street. like the person in your class. like your child. no need to be forgiven, no obligation to broadcast it constantly, it’s just who we are, and we deserve happy endings as much as anyone else.

if the general audience and the media and hell, maybe even the TV industry and future writers and showrunners realising that isn’t groundbreaking enough for you i don’t know what to tell you.

Preach it.

THIS IS HONESTLY THE FUNNIEST THING STUWHTVSFBD

These guys are all going to be so fucking relieved when they can just talk about it (after S4). Right now it’s like walking through a minefield.

But it makes me so damn happy when they slip up a little. ;-)

“He starts out as quite a lone figure. He cuts himself off from certain sensory pleasures, has a very limited sex life, to say that.”

Benedict Cumberbatch about Sherlock, SDCC 2016 X

In an answer where he describes how John is changing Sherlock over the arc of the series. Can you hear me screaming?

Yup. His mind went right there. I am totally convinced by this. Not that I needed much convincing, but still.

the-7-percent-solution:

New theory: John and Mycroft work together without informing Sherlock, John is instructed to fake his death to disrupt the chain of “pressure points”, John doesn’t want to but he now sees he must for Sherlock’s safety, Sherlock breaks down completely and mirrors John in TRF, Sherlock blames Mycroft, Mycroft shows no remorse, Mrs Hudson calls Mycroft a reptile, Sherlock believes he has no one left, John swoops in and saves the day, Sherlock cries, “John… you’re…. you’re alive. Is this what it felt like? Is this what I did to you? I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry, John please, John…”

I’ll take a double order of that.

“Defining for the series” “Really big surprises”

Yup. That was a Freudian slip. He’s talking about how initially Sherlock was closed off but he’s come to realize that he’s a better detective when he humanizes himself (an insight Watson brings) and then he mentions Sherlocks’ (initially) limited sex life. Why go there? Because it’s part of what CHANGES about Sherlock in S4. That’s part of his humanization thanks to his evolving relationship with Watson. And then he gets nervous. He shouldn’t have said that.

Holy shit. I’m really starting to feel like we’ve predicted and nailed all of S4, from evil!Mary, M-theory, through johnlock. Lord, it’s all true.
