NY and NV special elections a rebuke to Obama

Red plate specialSept. 14, 2011

POLITICS | Republican victories in New York and Nevada bring anxiety to national Democrats | Emily Belz

Republicans won a U.S. House seat in New York Tuesday that no
Republican has captured since the 1920s. The GOP also won another
previously competitive seat in Nevada by 20 percentage points, sending
anxiety throughout Democratic ranks.

Republican Bob Turner, a retired media executive who has never held
public office, bested Democratic state assemblyman David Weprin to win
New York's 9th Congressional District, a heavily Orthodox Jewish area
encompassing much of Queens and part of Brooklyn. Democrat Anthony
Weiner resigned from the seat in June after a drawn-out scandal.

Turner's campaign focused on tying Weprin to President Obama, whose
national approval ratings have been losing altitude. The Orthodox Jewish
community in the district also generally opposes Obama's position that
Israel should return to 1967 borders as a starting point for peace talks
with the Palestinians. Turner cast his victory as a clear repudiation
of the president.

Even Democrats hinted that Obama might have dragged Weprin down to defeat.

"I think every election reflects on the person in charge, but do I
think it is an overall statement on the president alone? No," said House
Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer on Tuesday morning. "Do I think it will be
interpreted as being a statement on Obama? That's probably correct."

Elections guru Stuart Rothenberg described Obama as an "albatross" for
Weprin. The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Rep.
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, dismissed such claims, saying the 9th is "a
very difficult district for Democrats."

More and more, Democrats just lie about the facts. Case in point: Debbie W-S's comment that the 9th is "a very difficult district for Democrats" though it has been held by Democrats since 1920.

Let's get real.

'Webcam 101 for Seniors': Fumbling elderly couple become viral sensations
By Jennifer Madison
September 2011

An elderly couple struggling to learn how to use a webcam have become viral video sensations after their granddaughter posted the fumbling footage online.

Bruce and Esther Huffman, of McMinnville, Oregon, captured close to three minutes of themselves making faces at the camera and trying to navigate their new laptop.

But they didn't realise until the very end they were being recorded as she tried to take a picture.

Webcam 101 for Seniors....

AttackWatch: Big Brother Obama watching you!

From BARACKOBAMA.COM:

(and in case you wonder why leftists seem like they live in a different world, note the line about "false rumors" that the Obama Regime has not been a friend to Israel. Could it be any clearer that he has hung them out to dry????????)

Launching AttackWatch.com
Posted by Lauren on September 13, 2011

We've launched a new campaign resource today: AttackWatch.com.

If you're worried about the increasing negativity of the attacks on
President Obama and his record, now's your chance to fight back with the
facts. Visit AttackWatch.com to learn the truth about frequent smears, track new attacks as they happen, and report false allegations you've seen or heard.

We've heard it all since 2008, from lies about the Affordable Care Act to false rumors that the Obama administration hasn't been an ally to Israel.
These aren't just unfounded allegations about the President--they're
attempts to derail the momentum of this movement and undermine
everything we've accomplished together in the last three years.

Check out AttackWatch.com to help stop these attacks before they start.

To get the latest updates, follow @AttackWatch on Twitter--and don't forget to share AttackWatch.com with your friends and family.

9/11 Maddy Curtis: How Can I Keep From Singing?

Been watching 9/11 coverage since 8:30 - it's been very thorough and respectful. The WTC Memorial is elegant and eloquent. The individual stories are compelling. This was so necessary and must be comforting to those who lost their loved ones both on 9/11 and in wars since.

In January 2010 when Maddy returned from the Hollywood rounds of American Idol, she gave a benefit concert to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Te closing song seems so right for today:
