Poem: Victory
(Copyright 2013)
You tore me down,
He built me up,
You told me I was nothing,
He made me into something,
Your negativity is like cancer,
It manifests and eats at the flesh,
But a higher power has shown me,
I am a winner no matter what the test,
Victory is here,
Victory is now,
Victory is mine,
Victory will allow me to shine,
At first I wasn’t able to see what I could become,
Listening to the naysayers who destroyed my spirit,
Telling me that I wouldn’t amount to anything,
I’d just be another number on this earth,
Upon gaining wisdom and going through some hard trials,
Realized that I am beautiful, talented and God’s child,
He loves me beyond measure,
Because I am a true treasure,
Victory is here,
Victory is now,
Victory is mine,
Victory will allow me to shine.
You tore me down,
He built me up,
You told me I was nothing,
He made me into something,
Your negativity is like cancer,
It manifests and eats at the flesh,
But a higher power has shown me,
I am a winner no matter what the test,

Why I Write?
I have been asked many times - "why do you love to write?"
This question can be provided with a multidimensional answer because I write about a number of things. Some things I've shared publicly (e.g. poetry, song lyrics & various subjects on motorsports) and other things were my private thoughts written in a journal. I believe that writing has provided me with an outlet to encourage, heal, hone these skills and motivate others. It has also given me the courage to share a part of me - meaning I am no longer that shy person who was much of a recluse growing up.
Granted, I took a few years off from writing due to my hectic schedule of being a mom, working full-time, volunteering, serving in the military and etc - you get the picture. It was about four years ago when I got back to writing more frequently and making that decision began to open up some major doors for me especially in the world of racing. The journey took me from contributing to Racer's Reunion then contributing, editing and becoming a media representative for Skirts & Scuffs for a little over three years. Now, I have the opportunity of a lifetime working for Mike Calinoff Management.
Once again ... why do I love to write? Because it gives me the freedom to share my thoughts on a diversity of subject matters. Do I expect everybody to agree with my train of thought? Of course not but it gives him/her the opportunity to understand and get to know me through my works.
I've been able to become a published author of three books, two of which are self-published, over the past two years. I'm currently working on a fiction book as well as a inspirational book. Stay tuned!
If I were to sum that question up with a short answer, it would be "I love to write because it is a gift from God that I want to share with the world."

The Love of Writing ... My Journey
I love to write because it allows me to express the thoughts and feelings that I have about certain things which have either affected me or those around me in a creative way. Some people may choose other artistic measures to express those thoughts and feelings such as song lyrics, dance or even paintings. Granted these are all very creative ways to share with others if you choose to do so.
I started writing seriously during my junior high school years because it served as a platform to privately share my thoughts and dreams without being judged. Keeping a journal was always important to me along with writing poetry about things that I had experienced, seen or aspired to do as I grew up. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that I could approach and freely talk to my mother about some of the feelings that I was having when dealing with typical teenage issues such as dating or being scared of not fitting in with everybody else. There was a huge adjustment for me to make when we moved from New York down to South Carolina on a permanent basis. Don't get me wrong ... I fell in love with the move eventually especially when I got to know more of my family but it was a huge task for me initially.
After taking a hiatus and dealing with life's journey over the past few years, I became motivated once again to write and start sharing my works more publicly. Was I apprehensive about it? Did I feel a little nervous? The answer to both of these questions would be a big "YES." However, I have learned through my faith and growing a little wiser that you can't be afraid of moving forward with those things that you want to accomplish. The saying goes that "tomorrow is never promised"; therefore, you have to move forward without fear of what could/could not happen or what opinions might occur (especially the negative ones).
In short, I love to write about different subject matters and I am looking forward to sharing my future works with you.

Why I Love to Write
Simply, I love to write because it is a great avenue for artistic expression.
It allows me that platform to share my thoughts and feelings about various subject matters ranging from - but not limited Simply, I love to write because it is a great avenue for artistic expression.
It allows me that platform to share my thoughts and feelings about various subject matters ranging from - but not limited to - life's experiences, sports and inspirational moments.
I've been writing poetry and song lyrics since junior high school which led me on the journey to finally self-publish two books (inspirational and poetry) earlier this year (2013).
I am currently working on two children's books and a fiction book. Yes, that may seem like a lot but when you love to write then you will make the time to pursue your passion wholeheartedly.
