What are you DOING?
I enjoy quotes and poems. They are often short, concise, and make you think. Of course there are longer poems and less than appealing quotes BUT this is the beauty of writing. For me, the tidbit and morsel offered through a quote, haiku, or short poem make me think. I like to nugget and to reflect, ponder, and process the deeper meaning. The best part, the meaning I take away may not be the author's intention yet it's the way I internalized and personalized it. As an English and writing major in college, many a professor told me "That is not what the poet/author meant." It irritated me, and still does because only the author knows what they meant.
As individuals with different pasts, education levels, and locations, we can read the same passage and take away something totally different. I only had one professor in four years who challenged us to read the 3 1/2 inch thick literature text book and write papers about different passages, poems, and essays from our perspective and what we believe the author was telling us. After we submitted our assignments, he would teach and share what scholars believe the true meaning and purpose was. There would be some in the class who said, "Yes, I got it." and others, like me, who thought, "Missed that by 100 yards." BUT the professor required we provide supporting information of WHY we interpreted the passage the way we did.
This is the best part of the lesson, after his lesson, we had the option to take our paper back and rewrite it after the day's lesson. I enjoyed this method of teaching and if I ever opt to be an adjunct professor, I'd mirror his methods because he didn't just teach us about literature, he encouraged us to think, challenge the norms, and offered us the opportunity to change our minds. Isn't this what we are called to do? To think for ourselves, learn new information and process it, then mold it into a beneficial piece of knowledge to help us be better?
Today's quote resonated with me, I won't share why but instead, I encourage you to think about it for a bit. Read it aloud. Write it down a few times. Read it aloud again. What speaks to you? Where do you find your thoughts traveling? How does this quote speak to you? There is no right or wrong...
yourself THINK!

When The Nest is Empty
This is a photo from a couple years ago and as I went through old pics, this one still stopped my scroll. The minimal breeze off Lake Ontario cooled the humid sweat from my skin as I circled the nest for the right picture. Dad watched from the hill behind the garage. As I walked towards Dad looking at my camera I smiled. It wasn't the photos that made me smile, it was my dad's voice calling to me. "Did you get a good one?" I remembering looking up and enjoying his smile. I was grateful and this feeling returns each time I see this photo. Life truly is about savoring the moments and listening when Dad calls because he "sees a blog" waiting for me.
Here's the deal, Dad is the one who called me after mowing his lawn to let me know there was a blog waiting for me and the sun was "just right". I've been blogging since 2011 and there have been many a blog that were birthed from one of my father's phone calls. I pray there are years of phone calls from my dad when he sees a blog waiting for me after mowing the lawn, checking the garden, or taking the dog out.
There is a lot of good in the world when we have a positive outlook and our eyes open to see all that is around us. Choose the positive and joy, it's worth it.
Do you recognize the "blogs" waiting for you to write?

T.O.P.'s Tuesday: A Calendar for your Planner
Last week I shared an upcoming release, a monthly planner to organize your family, directly sales needs, and even your meal planning. This 15-month calendar is an inch smaller than the planner so you can slide it in and bring it with you. The release date is yet to be set but it is in the near future. After reviewing the first proof and then the second of the planner I realized I still need to be able to look, schedule, and plan months in advance. I toyed with the idea of changing the planner but then it would be thick and bulky to carry so I made it a separate entity. I look forward to sharing more information in the near future so you can add it to your tools for success.
More to come...who knows, maybe I'll blog on an off day if it releases earlier than expected, le me know in the comments if you look forward to the planner & calendar
How does a calendar to slide into your
monthly planner sound to you?

Savory Saturday: Week 6 - Fire up the BBQ
Last week I did a live cooking demo and prepared a variety of burgers using Epicure's seasonings. They smelled great. In about a half an hour, I made beef, chicken, and salmon burgers. We didn't eat them that night but froze them for when our company is here in a couple weeks.
One of the many benefits of Epicure is the amount of time you save in the kitchen and it works for tonight's dinner or to prep for next week or future weeks. If you like salmon burgers, the West Coast Burger seasoning is for you. Epicure also has a Salmon rub which is fabulous. To learn about some of the burger seasonings you need for your BBQ season, read on. You can also get them all in one collection by clicking here! Epicure's Burger Seasoning

My Work Buddy...
The last day of school is tomorrow! It is a bittersweet day. I will miss the students and my work family over the summer yet I'm equally excited for more time with my family. Summer is a time to refresh, relax, and catch our breath. What are you summer plans while school is on vacation?I look forward to spending time with my work buddies, our dog and cat. This week I'm organizing, prioritizing, and list making. The goal is to make sure everything that NEEDS to be done, I HOPE to get done, and DREAM to accomplish are all written down. This is how I end the school year and move into summer vacation. Regardless of the season, or the reason, things are smoother and easier when you have a plan and goals.
This year I am not teaching summer school. Instead, I am dedicating my time and energy into solidifying, strengthening, and building my Epicure team. You can look forward to at least a couple releases in the near future that I created to organize my home and business. I'm releasing them in hopes they might help another direct sales representative manage and succeed.
No worries, the blogs won't be all business this summer. The Savory Saturday blogs will continue because I enjoy sharing (some) meals I've made during the week. I have a few writing projects I hope to 1) complete 2) Outline or 3) Draft. These will be shared and teased out in the T.O.P.'s Tuesday blogs. Thursdays, are open for photos and to share God's creation around me. These are some of my favorites blogs to write.
Thank you for following the blog, your prayers, and support!

Savory Saturday: Time for Tacos, Week 5
Are you a Taco Tuesday house?
One of my favorite memories was the excitement my Mom had for "Taco Tuesday". She looked forward to Tacos each Tuesday, something our daughter still enjoys. My mom would have enjoyed Epicure's Taco options.
Three variations of healthy, delicious, and quick tacos. They meet every family's time saving and health needs.
1) Easy Peasy Taco - A vegetarian Taco mix - all you need are your taco shells and toppings (2 packages for $17.95)
2) Taco Seasoning - just add your own ground meat (3 packages for $9.75)
lisabuske.epicure.com/en-us/product/taco-seasoning3) Taco Seasoning in a jar - add your ground meat and toppings (1 for $6.95)
Taco Night isn't complete without the toppings and fillings. I used one Epicure 4-Cup Prep Bowl and Epicure's 1-Cup Prep Bowls to set up the extras. I used the board my Dad made me, you could use a cutting board from your house. The bowls dress it up & makes for easy clean up!
Epicure Dips & Toppings used:
1) Poco Picante (Salsa)
2) Creamy Garlic Hummus
3) Guacamole
4) Nacho Cheese Dip
When is your next Taco night? Are you ready to prepare a healthier Taco for you and your family? Have you been looing for a delicious vegetarian Taco? The Easy Peasy Taco seasoning, comes in a package of two and is the answer to your vegetarian Taco dilemma. I look forward to seeing your Epicure Taco Night!
