Over the Edge Press Release

Hi And Welcome!

I have some exciting news happening next week on 27 May, and I wanted to make sure you knew about it.

I have been asked to read a passage from my upcoming novel, Letting Go, the first novel in the Dreamscapes series. The book will be released on October 26 and I’m thrilled I can share a preview of the novel with readers from all over the world next Thursday.

I’ll be participating in the May Over the Edge: Open Reading taking place over Zoom from the beautiful city of Galway, Ireland. I had the wonderful pleasure of attending writing workshops facilitated by Susan Millar DuMars when I lived in Galway. Susan and her husband Kevin Higgins run Over the Edge and Susan is the MC for the event.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Galway time, which is 10:30 a.m. Arizona (and Pacific time) and 1:30 p.m. Eastern time. I’ve included the press release below with the zoom link. There will be three readers followed by an open mic session. I hope you can listen in.

Kelley Amrein, Francis Edwards, & Aaron Skehan for May Over The Edge: Open Reading on Zoom

The May ‘Over The Edge: Open Reading’ takes place on Zoom on Thursday, May 27th  at the usual Over The Edge time 6.30-8.00pm (local Galway time). The Featured Readers are Aaron Skehan,Francis Edwards, & KD Pryor (Kelley Amrein). There will, as always at Over The Edge: Open Readings, be an open-mic after the Featured Readers have finished. New readers are always especially welcome at the open-mic. The MC for the evening will be Susan Millar DuMars.

Aaron Skehan is a 24-year-old student from Waterford, currently studying marine biology in GMIT. He started writing short stories three years ago when he signed up to the creative writing classes in Galway Technical Institute. He mainly writes fiction about student life in Ireland.  He recently had his first published short story in ROPES magazine.

KD Pryor (Kelley Amrein) is a writer and world traveller who loves to add elements of her travels into her books. She loves all things mysterious, and ghosts, mythology, and supernatural elements often find their way into her stories. Some of her favourite things include her family, her cats, a walk in the sun along a quiet country road, a stroll in Galway, Ireland where she always finds the best coffee, great books, a cuddly pair of slippers, and warm wool sweaters. Kelley and her husband currently live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Find her at: www.kdpryor.com.

Francis Xavier Edwards was born in La Ciudad de Nuestra Senora, Reina del Cielo y Los Angeles, commonly known as Los Angeles. He came to the world in the middle of the month, in the middle of the year, in the middle of the last century into a large Irish-Catholic family. At a young age he left home to return to Ireland. 47 years and 25 countries later he finally arrived in 2017. Along the way he encountered poetry and music of many cultures and writers. Musician, traveler, writer, gardener, and observer of the world, he now lives in Galway where one of his many pursuits is writing poetry.

Perfect Playlist for The Portal’s Choice

I dedicated The Portal’s Choice to my daughter, Shannon, because she is truly my female voice, willing to listen and give me advice whenever I ask during the writing process. Last August, Shannon left for her first year of college and I’ve missed her very much. This holiday break, I’ve taken advantage of her time at home to get a few questions answered, including some direction as to the best modern songs that Tallis would love to listen to.

Shannon and her iPhone joined me the other day to brainstorm songs that would best fit The Portal’s Choice. For me, this was both a crash course in some of the new music out there as well as a way to spend time with my daughter. We both had fun and I realized that I knew many of the songs she played for me but I didn’t always know the title or the artist. There were a few tunes I was unfamiliar with, however, and I’m glad Shannon was home to introduce me to some amazing music. Between the two of us, we put together a pretty awesome playlist for The Portal’s Choice, including old and new songs. I hope you agree.

The Portal’s Choice Playlist

Tiptoe by Imagine Dragons

Still Sane by Lorde

Brave by Sara Barielles

Six Degrees of Separation by The Script

Unwell by Matchbox Twenty

Beautiful Day by U2

Speed of Sound by Coldplay

Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer

Cough Syrup by Young the Giant

Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
