Dance Over Me – Meet Danielle Lefontaine

DaniThe Wardrobe Dinner Theatre is happy to introduce one of the newest members of the cast, Danielle Lefontaine. She wowed the director with some fancy footwork at her audition and stole the heart of the Sheridan family matriarch with some soulful singing. As part of the ensemble in our opening show—42nd Street—prepare to be amazed by the rhythm of her dancing feet.

Join me in giving a warm Wardrobe welcome to the multi-talented Danielle.

Please, call me Dani.

Okay, Dani. What else should our au...

Dance Over Me – Welcome to The Wardrobe

Welcome to The Wardrobe Dinner Theatre. Owned and operated by the Sheridan family, this local business took their name from the wardrobe “character” in the C.S. Lewis book The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe as a place where adventuresome souls could step into a different world. Since a wardrobe is also a fancy name for a type of closet for clothes, the fact there is a backstage dressing room filled with costumes certainly applies too.

Once they step through the doors of The Wardrobe, gues...

Dance Over Me: The Inspiration

woman-570883_1280Did you know I’ve got a tattered folder filled with scribbled story ideas? Some came after being awakened from a vivid dream while others grew from a day dream about some interesting thing I’d seen out the car window. All are just nuggets of scenes or loose plots and most may never grow beyond those yellowing scraps of paper.

However, a lucky few ideas continue to grow in my subconscious into something bigger, like the idea for Dance Over Me which has actually since grown into a series. But i...

Starting a New Chapter (or Two or Three or More)

writing-923882_1280This week marks the beginning of a whole new chapter for me…and my oldest son. He’s headed off to college and I’ll be there to help move him into the dorm, stock his snack pile, then hug him one more time before leaving him behind. He’ll be living away from home for the first time and learning to juggle classes, laundry, and basketball practices while making new friends and avoiding the wrong crowd. All of it on his own while our only communication is when/if he remembers to call or text. He’...

Guest Julie Arduini – What I Learned About the Arch

Julie ArduiniDear readers, from time to time I ask others to share their stories of faith, hope, and love in order to encourage us all. If you have a story to share, you can find my guidelines under the Connect tab. In the meantime, welcome Julie Arduini!

It was April and I entered my pastor’s office tired, afraid, and angry. The year wasn’t even half over and I was waving a white flag. I was more than overwhelmed, I was burned out and depleted. Picture an empty, stomped on juice box. That was me.

He list...

Taking the Leap of Faith Into a Story

leap of faith

“Faith is a leap into a story, not a walk in the dark.” ~ Jeff Lucas

I’m a writer so I naturally love stories. Whether they are true life rags-to-riches sagas as Olympic athletes overcome obstacles to reach the world’s stage or the fictional tales I devour as an avid reader, I am drawn to the natural progression of characters on a journey conquering obstacles on their way to a happily-ever-after ending.

So last month, one of the teaching pastors at our church used the idea of a story to make...

Automate, Delegate, and Concentrate To Get Things Done

get things doneJust because I’ve discovered a new way to think about and organize my time (the One Bucket method) doesn’t automatically mean that it is easy to get things done. Then I heard a different business podcast list out these three words to help. Automate. Delegate. Concentrate.

First, automate. What things can I add into routines so they will get done regularly without extra thought? Are there emails that I send often or questions that I answer over and over that can become a basic template that is...

Crossing the Finish Line

finish lineTurtle power really works.

In case you’re wondering, about four weeks ago, I blogged about being behind on word count and waiting for time to sprint and romp happily through the last half of a story when such time was hard to come by. Turtle power became my way to reach the dream of crossing the finish line.

So even though it was summer time and I could sleep in or start my day at a lazy pace, I got up earlier and spent 45 minutes to an hour at my keyboard getting a jump start on my writing...

One Bucket Method to Balance Family and Work

Balancing balls on wooden board

I am a working mom who strives to balance family and work while still taking care of my personal faith and health and well-being. If I were to try to paint a picture of my life, it’s like two giant buckets full of stuff to do on the opposite ends of a teeter-totter with a frantic me running from one end to the other doing a little bit here and a little bit there to keep things relatively balanced. And time for me? Only in a few brief moments in the middle to catch my breath before needing to...
