Are you hiding in your house today?

Happy Friday the 13th! Are you the superstitious type? Avoiding black cats and ladders, etc? Or do you scoff at such silliness?

Today is a great day to go see a scary movie or read a scary book. I posted two of my favorite scary books on Facebook and felt like I was in good company when I saw the number of responses who also thought those books were scary. What were they?

Salem’s Lot by Stephen King – I wouldn’t sleep with my bed next to the window for years after reading this.

IT by Stephen King – to this day there are certain nights I still jump out of bed and back into it so nothing grabs me from underneath!

And let’s not forget Jaws by Peter Benchley. The book scared me to pieces!

So will you hide and hope the day passes without event or will you go about your business as usual? Maybe, just maybe, you’ll enjoy the day and scare yourself silly!

In the dark…

Off to my annual beach vacation. I do read lots and lots but otherwise, I go dark on social media and I turn my phone off.

Back to School

It’s almost that time of year for traditional students. I’ve been out of school for a while and yet every year around late August/early September, the feeling hits me. I crave new clothes and supplies.

This is a great time to stock up on notebooks, pens, post-its, etc. I like to have a cute notepad in my purse in case inspiration strikes when I’m out and about. Yes, my phone works but there’s something about jotting it down on paper.

Organize. Your home, office, workspace. Fall is a great time for new beginnings. Who knows what you might find – a great idea?

Learn. A new hobby, sport, or further your profession. I’m taking a couple of online classes to continue moving my writing career forward. What’s on your wish list?

Goals. Keep yourself accountable. I post my goals on my desk so I can see them and I’ll check in with all of you as well.

Create. I’ve created an inspiration board on Pinterest for my current book. It’s fun and lets you all see the world I’m building and who I envision playing my characters.

Nifty new feature

I’m usually a bit of a laggard when it comes to all things new. With that said, have you all seen and tried the “Send to Kindle” button on websites? You’ll now see it on all my posts and pages.

 

When you click the button, it sends the post to your Kindle or Kindle device (iPad, iPhone, smartphone, tablet, etc.) so you can read it later. The first time you sign into your Amazon account and pick the settings and device which you can change at any time.

Pretty nifty!

Remember when

I remember when I flew around the roller skating rink…of course I was in middle school. Fast forward a number of years. I took my niece roller skating with a friend last night and let me say. I stunk It seemed harder. I thought it would come back to me but nope. By the end of the evening I was doing better and had a great time which is all that mattered. It brought back fun memories.

What things did you do as a kid that you’ve tried again as an adult?

Cover reveal – Iced in Shadow

Yes, book 2 – Desired by Shadow is with my editor and I’ve just sent my holiday novella,  Iced in Shadow to her as well.

It’s almost a new week…

Hope everybody had a good weekend. I spent time with friends and worked on book 3, Reborn in Shadow. Total words written for the weekend – 8,947!

Book 2, Desired by Shadow should be back from my editor any day and the holiday novella, Iced in Shadow is with her as well. I wanted to get started on this book before the edits come back.

Starting tomorrow I’m taking an online class for a new software tool called Scrivener. We’ll see how it goes.

Book 3 is all about Hamish and Anna. I’m already crazy about Anna and know this one is going to put me through the emotional wringer. Hamish has so much baggage and let us not forget…he’s not very nice either.

So here’s to a productive week! If I stay on track, I’ll reward myself with a few hours at the pool one morning.
