A Generation of Cheap Sardonics

“The deserving poor.” Officially an old fashioned saying according to the Cambridge dictionary, one which doesn’t accord with our modern conceptions of who’s deserving of our sympathy and whom we ought to revile.

There used to be a time when we understood the importance of personal virtue; where working hard, honouring one’s commitments, dealing fairly with others, and accepting responsibility for one’s mistakes were things that we celebrated – and yet we also recognized that even when the va...

Why Batman Vs Superman was a Failed Allegory

My latest post at Return of Kings.

Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice could have been the film that helped heal the political rift that’s tearing apart America.

It could have; but instead it flopped.

Political and racial tensions are getting close to the breaking point, the worst they’ve been in decades, if not since the Civil War. Internal strife dominates both political parties with voters turning to outsider candidates; the tension between the parties is growing hot, with Democrats promot...

Update: Patreon, and Plans for 2016

I mentioned back in December that I had some big plans for this year – I just needed to finish off last year’s work first. With Immersed in Subversion completed, it’s finally time to move forward.

In Depth Analysis – the subject of my new Patreon – will be a monthly series of ‘mini’ documentaries, each about an hour long, delving into its own subject. Essentially these will be enhanced versions of my YouTube videos; scripted, animated, and cited. Videos I have planned are:

Charisma for Intro...

Where’s the Fair Use? Where is the Free Speech?

The good news: I have my YouTube channel back. The bad news: who knows for how long? YouTube is not only being censored by Hollywood – but by the infiltration of political leftists.

The details of what I went through.
Doug Walker’s explanation of #WTFU.

Immersed in Subversion :: Control the Culture; Control the Man [The Anita Sarkeesian Documentary]

The long awaited documentary is here; Immersed in Subversion :: Control the Culture; Control the Man; it is an analysis of Anita Sarkeesian, the Feminist Video Game critic who’s most recently been seen arguing for Internet censorship at the UN, or shadow banning Twitter users as part of Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council.

Anita Sarkeesian could have been anybody; she’s not the story, anymore than Zoe Quinn was the story of #GamerGate. The story itself is the story; the fact that present-day m...

YouTube’s Obscurantist Community Standards: Update on my Standing

Susan-Wojeki-1940x1293

Far be it for me to call @SusanWojcicki a hypocrite or incompetent, but…

The Trial is one of Franz Kafka’s greatest works; unfinished, and not published until after his death, it is nonetheless a perfect synopsis of his examination of unaccountable bureaucracies, systems which start with the presumption of guilt, and byzantine legal procedures.

It follows the story of Josef K., the CFO of a local bank who is accosted by two agents of an unknown legal authority who inform him that he has been...

Red Team vs Blue Team: The Current Political Crisis

Team-Fortress-2-RED-vs-BLU-team-fortress-2-tf2-35905270-1280-1024

Clark, formerly of Popehat, writes about the history of this centuries-old war. The synopsis of his argument is that modern political battles between the Left and Right (or, in Moldbuggian terms, the Optimates and Vaisya of Red Team, and the Brahmins, Dahlits, and Helots of Team Blue) has seeds that trace back centuries. He argues that there have been three major conflicts thus far; he begins with the English Civil War of 1642-1651 (Protestants versus Catholics, Parliamentarians versus Royal...

The Brave New Security Apparatus: Predictions for 2116

vlcsnap-2016-02-15-13h11m50s334

On Saturday, February 13th, 2016, Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia died; I learned of this shortly after watching the 2015 film Sicario, a crime drama about the fading strength of law and order.

Scalia’s death adds an interesting spin to the current presidential election. Scalia has been the steward of constitutional freedoms time and time again in 5-4 votes. With a seat now open, the Democrats can attempt to push another activist judge who will manufacture positive rights out of the negat...
