What are Koans?

koansReferred to as a spiritual riddle, #Koans hailed from the Orient – a written record of spiritual conversations between a Zen master and his student. A resource tool used for gaining enlightenment.

Through the ancient eastern perception for the search of enlightenment, all questions, situations and patterns were used as a basis and a resource for finding our true consciousness.… Read the rest

Eysenck’s Personality Inventory (EPI) (Extroversion/Introversion)

The Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) measures two pervasive, independent dimensions of personality, Extraversion-Introversion and Neuroticism-Stability, which account for most of the variance in the personality domain. Each form contains 57 “Yes-No” items with no repetition of items. The inclusion of a falsification scale provides for the detection of response distortion. The traits measured are Extraversion-Introversion and Neuroticism.… Read the rest

But is it Art?

Twitt

1.	An American study found in the 'Journal of Epidemiology suggested that just consuming one bottle of beer a day can reduce the risk of kidney stones by a whopping 40%. 2.	Researchers reckon that beer possibly dates back to 9500 BC and is one of the oldest beverages and the personal tipple of the early Neolithic man. 3.	If you have a strong disposition, the strongest beer in the world is 'Brewmeister's Snake Venom.' While an average beer consists of about 5% ABV, 'Snake Venom', is a massive 67.5%. 4.	Just as wine comes at different prices, beer is no different. A bottle of 'Vielle Bon Secours' will set you back about $1000 - making it the most expensive beer in the world. 5.	The ancient Babylonians took their beer very seriously. Anyone who brewed a bad batch of it would be drowned. 6.	When consumed, it has been found that the silicon in beer actually increases calcium and mineral in the body, strengthening bone tissue. 7.	Women were the very first professional brewers of beers. Only the very beautiful ones were allowed to become 'brewsters'. 8.	Are you ever terrified when you come to the end of your pint of beer and look in horror at your empty glass? You could be suffering from 'Cenosillicaphobia' - the fear of an empty glass. 9.	There are about 400 different types of beer in the world today - Belgium being the originator of the most beer brands. 10.	If you want to know how to rate the quality of a pint, check out its head. That foamy topping consists of a carbon-dioxide reaction. If it aint got a head, it means your beer is flat and most probably very bland to the taste. It’s not a hobby health professionals would recommend, but for some, #beer tasting is as much an art as #wine tasting. Whereas the #wine connoisseur is revered and has an edge of snobbery to it, #beer is just as technical and even though some may sneer upon it, this #traditional working class drink, has some very #interesting facets to it.… Read the rest

Go Set a Watchman – Harper Lee

go set a watchman

Prejudice is a dirty word, faith clean one, both have something in common: they begin where reason ends.”

Harper Lee – Go Set a Watchman

After reading ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ many years ago, I was interested to read the long awaited (very long) sequel to the lives of the Finch’s.

Selling over 1.1million copies in just one week, Harper Lee’s long awaited sequel to her 1960 ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, has been received by readers with mixed feelings.… Read the rest

The Genius of Leonardo Da Vinci – Truth and Lies

leonardo da vinci on truth and liesRecorded in his many notebooks that da Vinci kept, are a #number of his observations on #life. #Leonardo da Vinci’s #creative genius came from his perception. In the following moral saying taken from his notebook, reveals the #Master’s view on #Truth. Finding your Creative Space

Parkinsons Books

Parkinsons Books, Southport, Merseyside UK. My favourite place to recharge and find inspiration.

Where do #you go when you are looking for inspiration? With all the online #tools and #resources available, it is all too easy to get lost in the theory and schematics of #things then simply getting down and doing #stuff.  When it comes to #creativity, simplicity is quite often overlooked and most of the #time the most obvious and simplest things on offer are usually the best.… Read the rest

Da Vinci Maxim ‘Reap what you sow’

Twitt

leonardo da vinci maxims from notebooksRecorded in his many notebooks, da Vinci wrote his thoughts, his questions and his own philosophy on life. In the following maxim, Leonardo reveals his feelings about happiness and true aspirations.

‘Thou, O God, dost sell us all good things at the price of labour’.

Although a simple sentence, here da Vinci does not waste his words- summing up the search for purpose and happiness.… Read the rest
