Into Darkness
Full disclosure: I am, and always have been, a trekkie.
My favorite number is 47. I have red Starfleet shirt with “Uhoh” written on the front of it. Needless to say, I was looking forward to seeing Into Darkness.
All weekend, I’ve been reading some variation of the following on facebook and twitter: “I’m not a trekkie, but Into Darkness was a good movie!”
I’m here to tell you, that it’s even better if you ARE a trekkie.
Possible spoiler alert – don’t worry, nothing serious, I wouldn’t do that to you!
Even beyond the obvious Wrath of Khan parallels (Which I SO need to rewatch again now!) there are references galore to make my geeky little heart squee with joy. Section 31. Nurse Chapel. Carol Marcus! I kept poking my brother in the theater – but of course, he got them all too, because we were raised on Trek.
Loved Benedict Cumberbatch as the villian, and the cast, I think, is even better than they were in the last movie. I love Chris Pine as Kirk. Heck, who am I kidding, I just love Chris Pine. I regularly rewatch Princess Diaries 2 just because he’s in it being all charming and stuff. But my favorite is Karl Urban as McCoy. Karl Urban is the stuff of fantasies. Or at least, my fantasies.
But really, if you’re not a trekkie, and you loved this movie, you should watch Wrath of Khan and then watch Into Darkness again. And then the rest of the movies (but skip The Motion Picture. And The Final Frontier. And Generations.) And then you better watch Deep Space 9 for the Section 31 reference. And …. oh hell, just watch it all.
Who wants to go see Into Darkness with me? Because I am definitely going again. Soon.

In Praise of Moms & Long Weekends
First of all, can I just say how much I admire all you moms-who-write out there? I mean, here I am struggling to find the time to get anything writerly done the last couple weeks, and I am cheerfully childless. The other day I watched a friend’s kids, two little people that I completely adore, and there is no way I could have gotten anything productive done beyond keeping the tiny humans in my care happy and healthy. I’m a week late for Mother’s Day, but still, kudos to all the moms out there, writers or not!
It’s been a long week, what with the usual springtime insanity at my “real” job, and then chicks hatching, mares foaling and that anxiety inducing babysitting job which involved my very first time changing a dirty diaper. I did make it 33 years without, which is a pretty good record. Although, given the amount of miscellaneous critter poop I’ve dealt with over the past three decades, a little toddler poop was somewhat anticlimactic.
One of the things I’m trying to get done is the edits on Holding Court, which releases this summer. Struggling with them a little, but it’s also fun to revisit the story and the characters. I was going to post an excerpt for #SatSpanks – Holding Court is definitely the spankiest of my stories! – but then by the time I got organized to do it I’d missed the deadline. Next week then! It’s still over two months til the release date, after all.
It’s May Long this weekend, happy 2-4 to my fellow Canadians! Have fun and stay safe everyone! I’ll be spending my weekend finishing up those edits, getting some veggies planted, and mostly, playing with this little beauty!

#8Sunday – In The Vault – Take 2
All right, hopefully I’ve gotten this right this week! If you missed my #8sunday last week (because I screwed up the URL – again) you can find it here. Special thanks to those who took the time to a) find it and b) comment – thank you thank you! Be sure to click the banner above to read all the WeWriWa submissions.
Today I’m sharing the opening of In The Vault.
Rose breathed deep of the cool night air, a welcome relief from the heat of the day. She wandered along the board walkway, weaving a little, unsteady on her feet. There was no one around at this late hour, no sound but the frogs and the crickets. The town was asleep.
She approached the bank, the front windows reflecting the light of the full moon, and she thought she saw a hint of movement behind the glass. Rose smiled to herself, teetering along past, until she caught her heel in a gap between the boards and fell in a heap of linen and lace, landing in the street, smack dab in the middle of the only puddle that hadn’t dried up in the heat.
The bank door slammed behind her, and Rose ducked her head to hide her smile.
IN THE VAULT is available now – and it’s absolutely free!
Rose loves banks. The cash, the gold… the thrill of a well-planned robbery…
But jewels and riches aren’t what Rose desires most, and Tucker is ready and willing to turn her fantasy into reality.
When you have a partner in crime, anything can happen in the vault.
Busy Busy
Such a busy week this week! Long days at my “real” job, chicks hatching, mares still not foaling, family member having surgery = no time for writing!
I’m really wanting to spend some quality time working on The Undercover Outlaw – hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to set aside an afternoon. But in the meantime, busy or not, I certainly love Springtime in Alberta!

#8sunday – In The Vault

“You sure you can open it?” Tucker asked, and his voice close behind her made her jump. He’d taken the time to scoop up the lantern from the table, and he held it high to illuminate the vault door.
“Of course,” Rose scoffed. “There isn’t a lock been invented that I can’t crack, but luckily for me this job isn’t even going to test my skills.” She touched the dial of the combination lock, turning it experimentally. “All it took was a little flirting with the powerful men of this town and they were only too happy to brag on their new vault door.”
Tucker raised an eyebrow. “All you did was flirt, right?”

#Satspanks – Rose Being Naughty
Today’s #SatSpanks snippet is from IN THE VAULT – the short story follow-up to OUTLAW ROSE.
Rose licked up his shaft, teased the head with her lips and tongue, and finally sucked him deep in her mouth. She loved the feel of him against her tongue; definitely a more enjoyable way to pass the time than tapping her foot or reading, with the added fun of watching Tucker try to ignore the distraction as his cock pulsed in her mouth, his hands shaking a little as he tried another key.
The lock clicked, and the cage door creaked loudly on its metal hinges as it swung open.
Rose released his cock, letting it slide from the heat of her mouth with a pop of her lips and bounded to her feet.
“That’s my cue,” she said cheerfully, striding across to the vault door before she turned back to look.
Tucker stood framed in the cage door, the key ring dangling from his hands, his hat pulled low over his eyes and his cock, hard and glistening from her attention, jutting straight up towards the ceiling. He shook his head. “You’re a cruel, cruel woman Miss Bank Teller,” he said, “And I will get you back for this.”

Holding Court Cover Reveal!
First of all, thank you so much to everyone who commented on my Outlaw Rose excerpts this weekend! I was away this weekend, and too busy to be online other than early in the morning and very late at night, but it was so exciting to log on and read all the positive comments! I’ll do better next weekend at playing along and reading and commenting, I promise!
I got this cover from the awesome art department at Total E Bound recently, and I wanted to share it here, because, well, look how pretty!!
Holding Court will be available for preorder starting July 29th.
Schoolteacher Clara lives a peaceful, solitary life when she’s away from the school house. That is, other than the nights when rich, powerful landowner Courtland Raymond comes to call.
Court makes her feel things she’d never before dreamed of. He’s forceful and dominant, and he always knows just what she needs. Their secret arrangement allows them to enjoy each other without the disapproval of the community they both rely on for their livelihood.
Clara loves Court, and she’d do nearly anything to be with him forever, a real relationship, but she’s not willing to risk their stolen moments. But when their secret trysts are exposed, will she be able to hold on to Court? Or lose him forever?
