#SatSpanks – Snowed Under
Last week, I missed the deadline to join in, but I had a good excuse. Thankfully, things are starting to improve in my part of the world, but my heart is with all those who are still not able to go home, especially the people of High River. I am very proud of my city and province through this disaster though. The stories of people pulling together to help their neighbours are truly heartwarming.
I’m bending the Saturday Spanking rules today, but only a little bit. I’m just excited that my second release, Snowed Under, is available for Pre-Order today!!! I love this story, and I am dying to share an excerpt with my #SatSpanks friends – even though, technically, this isn’t really a spanking story. I promise, we’ll go back to a spankier story next weekend.
The first thing that Dean saw was a pair of the finest legs he’d ever had the privilege to ogle. They were long and curvy, and best of all, they were bare all the way up.
The second thing he saw was the unwavering muzzle of a .56 Sharps, which diminished his enjoyment of the legs significantly.
“Who are you?” The owner of the legs asked again, her tone indicating that if he didn’t answer, it might be the Sharps that spoke next.
“Dean Rook.”
“And what are you doing here, Mr Rook?”
“I got lost in the storm, ma’am, sure am glad to find shelter.” It wasn’t the whole truth, but it was all that he planned to share with a stranger holding a gun on him.
A storm, a stranger and a secret—Ivy and Nell’s cabin on the mountain is about to get crowded.
Ivy and Nell have been able to get along very well without a man, thank you very much. They take care of all the chores, the cooking, and each other—in every way.
But when a sexy stranger blows in with the storm, Nell is curious. Is sex with a man really as bad as Ivy told her it was?
Ivy was just as glad that her husband was considerate enough to disappear, leaving her and Nell to their happy lives, but the stranger brings news that may change everything. Betrayed and angry, Ivy decides that revenge is on the menu, and Dean Rook is just the man to help her out.

#SatSpanks – Flooded out.
I heard on the news that there are 24 separate communities in my area that have declared a state of emergency. Two local towns have been completely flooded out, and 100,000 people have been evacuated in the city of Calgary, which is 10% of the population. My family is all safe and (mostly) dry, but the Bow River – which I cross to go to work – is very high and scary. My dad works at city hall, and couldn’t make it in early this morning because the river was running down the road.
The photos of the places that I know so well and have been such a big part of my life – Stampede Park, the Saddledome, the Zoo – and seeing so many homes under water are really getting to me. Such a terrible, unpredictable disaster, and the RCMP are saying there have been at least 2 fatalities so far. They’ve deployed 1300 armed forces to help, and when I met an army convoy on the highway on my way home today it made me all teary, I was so grateful that they’re here to help the people who need it.

So, it’s been quite a week around here, and I sat down to put together a Saturday Spankings post, only to discover I missed the sign up time by 20 minutes. 
Oh well – I’ll play by myself if I have to! Let’s do an excerpt from Outlaw Rose, soon after last week’s snippet. 
She needed to keep her mind clear if she was going to get that gold for herself, but the sensations and sight of his strong fingers on her sensitive skin were driving her to distraction.
She dropped to her knees at his feet and he released his hold on her upper arm to set a hand over the butt of the pistol. He didn’t trust her. That’s all right, she thought, since she wasn’t trustworthy. She ran a hand lightly over the bulge in his heavy, denim pants and he hissed and grabbed a handful of her hair, pulling it loose from the braid. She unbuttoned his pants then reached inside, closing her fingers around his cock. He moaned and she looked up, disappointed that she couldn’t see his face in the darkness.

In much more cheerful, non-natural disaster related news, it’s only a week until Snowed Under goes on pre-order, and yesterday I saw that’s it’s listed on the publishers website! I love this story, can’t wait to share it!

#SatSpanks – Rose’s Proposition
Happy Saturday Spanking! Today we’re getting into more trouble with Rose. That Rose, she does know how to party. First, kidnapped by the bank robbers, and now …
“That’s a mighty tempting offer, miss, but what am I supposed to tell the boys? ‘Oh, the girl knows which way we went, but I let her go after I had my way with her?’ You know what they’ll say?” He put his face close to hers, holding onto her with both hands. She wondered where the gun was. “They’ll want to know why I didn’t bring you back to share.”
Her mind raced, searching for options, analysing the situation. It took her only a second to come to a conclusion.
8 sentences is not very many, I have to say! Tis a fun challenge to find a snippet each week.
Rose would do whatever was necessary to get the gold back from the bank robbers. Enjoying it was an unexpected bonus.
Rose had a plan.
After all her planning and hard work, she was about to hit the payoff—until the bank was robbed, the gold stolen right out from under her nose. Rose wasn’t about to give up without a fight, but catching up with the outlaws was the easy part.
When Tucker finds the little bank teller tailing them, he needs to keep her from running to the posse, and her proposal sounds like way more fun than what he had in mind. But in this band of outlaws, they split everything three ways—he’s going to have to learn to share.
What Rose had thought was a straightforward plan quickly becomes more complicated. Maybe these law breakers can work together…in more ways than one.

WIP Wednesday … ish
Okay, I know it’s not Wednesday at all, but I was busy yesterday helping to pull off an epic surprise bridal shower for my boss. Seriously epic – my co-workers are impressively devious. Actually, I’m a little concerned about them. Pretty sure they could have a second career as con-women.
Sooo … this week, how bout a snippet from The Undercover Outlaw? This is from the first meeting of Alicia and Logan.
“And where do your journeys take you, Mr …” Alicia let her voice trail off, hoping he’d respond, instead of shutting her down with the steely glare she’d seen used on the others who’d tried to strike up a conversation with him. She didn’t need anyone having time to notice and comment on her empty plate and leaned forward a little. Maybe a better view down the front of her dress would make him chattier. Or at least put him in a better mood.
His eyes flickered to her neckline and he shifted awkwardly in his chair. “Logan, Miss Light,” he said, and Alicia rewarded him for answering with a deep breath that brought his gaze back to her chest. “A pleasure to meet you.”
His voice was a pleasant surprise, deep and rumbling, but with a velvet undertone so smooth she could almost feel it against her skin. She leaned towards him, and hoped he’d continue talking. He did.
I do like these characters – who wants to come take over my real life for a few days so I can spend more time with them?

#SatSpanks – Outlaw Rose
We’re taking a break from HOLDING COURT this week … don’t worry, we’ll get back to Clara and Court soon! Instead of being labelled a tease (which I kinda enjoyed actually) for posting snippets from a book that isn’t available until September, I’m going back to OUTLAW ROSE for today’s Saturday Spanking. It’s available right now for all ebook platforms! No teasing, hehe!
It was quiet. She strained her ears for any sign he was coming closer. The silence pressed in on her as she squinted through the darkness, searching for movement. There was nothing but the faint rustle of nearby leaves in the night breeze. She breathed out a sigh.
He was gone.
She sensed the movement a split second before she felt the hand close over her arm. She fought with all her strength, jerking backwards to try to break his grip, until the loud, metallic click of a hammer being drawn back echoed through the night. She froze.
Rose would do whatever was necessary to get the gold back from the bank robbers. Enjoying it was an unexpected bonus.

WIP Wednesday – Mama’s Broken Heart
Storywonk calls it Discovery, the time when you’re getting to know your characters, working out the story, mulling things over, seeing what fits and what doesn’t.
I love Discovery, and I especially love the important bits of information I get from the most random of places.
Like Miranda Lambert songs.
If you haven’t heard it, feel free to click and have a listen! So fun, lots of great lines in there, too!
But there’s one line that makes me think of Alicia, the heroine in The Undercover Outlaw.
Can’t get revenge and keep a spotless reputation.
Sometimes revenge is just a choice you gotta make.
See, I didn’t know that revenge was part of Alicia’s motivation for her involvement in Logan’s heist – until I’d listened to the song (over and over so I could sing along. Badly.) Then it was so obvious I couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen it before.
Can’t wait to see how it all plays out for them! Because, for all the Discovery in the world, I’m still a pantser through and through.

#SatSpanks – Meet Court

Courtland Raymond turned up the collar of his coat against the wind and fought the urge to spur his horse. It wasn’t the horse’s fault he was late and breaking trail through the deep snow wasn’t an easy task. The horse was taking him towards Clara and that was all that mattered.
Clara.
He closed his eyes, shutting out the dark prairie winter with its drifts of snow. He rolled his head on his shoulders and tried to release the tension, along with all that had caused it. He blocked out all the little details of running the ranch, of the politics of the fast growing community and instead he saw Clara, with her dark hair around her, surrounding all that creamy soft skin. Lavender. She’d smell of lavender.
Schoolteacher Clara lives a peaceful, solitary life when she’s away from the school house. That is, other than the nights when rich, powerful landowner Courtland Raymond comes to call.
Court makes her feel things she’d never before dreamed of. He’s forceful and dominant, and he always knows just what she needs. Their secret arrangement allows them to enjoy each other without the disapproval of the community they both rely on for their livelihood.
Clara loves Court, and she’d do nearly anything to be with him forever, a real relationship, but she’s not willing to risk their stolen moments. But when their secret trysts are exposed, will she be able to hold on to Court? Or lose him forever?

WIP Wednesday
Accountability, that’s the ticket.
I’m currently working on the first book in my future Outlaw Women series for Total E Bound.
At least, I’m supposed to be, and I really want to be, but it’s springtime and crazy busy around here and I’m struggling to find the time and energy to make any serious headway. So, a little public accountability should be motivating! If nothing else, I’ll get practiced up on my excuses. 
My plan is to share something about the story that I’ve worked on during the previous week – might be a snippet from the story, or an idea I’m playing with, or something non-story related that I’ve found inspirational. Anything related to the project!
So, follow me through the writing of The Undercover Outlaw! (And feel free to poke me if I don’t report in weekly!)

#SatSpanks – Meet Clara
This week I’ve been finishing up the final edits for Holding Court. Holding Court comes out later this summer with Total E Bound, and it’s the spankiest of my stories, so I had to share a little snippet on Saturday Spanks this week!
He would come soon.
She looked down at the pale silk dressing gown. It clung to her breasts, tied tightly around her waist. Clara knew she looked beautiful in it, but he’d told her in the note that she should be naked when he arrived. She knew what would happen if she disobeyed.
Clara smiled to herself. She set the brush back on the mantle then turned down the lamp and when she crawled into bed, she still wore the silk robe.
