i really like the idea that theron is an indian guy (avan jogia) based on the photoset you reblogged. i was wondering who you were picturing when you wrote theron. I love your book by the way :)
That’s the first time Theron has been cast like that, and I must say, I TOTALLY LOVE IT. Which actually brings up a super important topic:
Though there are specific descriptions of the characters in SLA (Meira has white hair; Theron has blonde hair; Mather has blue eyes; etc), I don’t expect (or necessarily want) every reader to hold to these descriptions as gospel. Ideally, every character would look however every reader wants them to look, but that would make for a rather messy and/or confusing book — thus, the power of imagination. I may describe Meira as having white hair and ivory skin, but if you want her to have black hair and green eyes and brown skin, you have my blessing. Nay, my PLEA to yes yes please see her like that. These characters are yours as much as they are mine — who Meira/everyone is to you will be totally different from who they are to me.
(But in ICE LIKE FIRE and Book 3 there will be a TON more diversity in terms of character description/appearance. I realize that SLA was very white, but this problem has been rectified in ICE LIKE FIRE and Book 3. I promise. I never ever want readers to feel excluded.)

Sure! I can absolutely do that. I’ll add it to my list of video topics!
For now, though, there’s some amazing information online, namely on blogs like Publishing Crawl (particularly this section).
