I am a new fan of yours. Met you at Barnes and nobles in Houston! Thank you so much for your advice in writing. How did you know what genre you were going to be writing in? I know you were 12 but essentially as you got older how did you know where to begin

Thank you so much for coming!! YAY HOUSTON!

I always loved reading fantasy books and watching fantasy movies/shows, so writing that genre felt like a natural fit. It’s really just about finding what fits your own personal interests – I loved the freedom fantasy offered in being able to create a whole world, and control the elements yourself.

But if you meant writing YA, that was similar – the stories I wrote dealt with teens and the issues they faced, and so the YA genre fit the stories that I wanted to write.

It’s all a matter of reading, exploring, and figuring out what calls to you!

The Long Way There, A Snow Like Ashes Fanfic:

cabeswater-awakes:

It had been four days since the Winterians had left for Jannuari, but it felt as though it had been four months. The steady sway and rhythm of Meira’s horse comforted her, and the faint sound of hoofbeats crunching fresh snow underneath put a smile to her face. She rode a gentle white pony, its…
