The problem of book theft …
Books: Publishing, Reading, Writing
Close to two years ago, I discovered that my eBooks, both of them, were being listed for sale on a site about which I’d never heard before. They were not under contract to sell my eBooks nor was I receiving any payment for the nearly 1000 times the site reported my novel had already been downloaded. There was a link on the site authors could write to, if they felt their copyright had been infringed. So I wrote, asked them to take down my books, and … nothing happened. That’s when I contacted my friend Tim Baker, whose books were also listed on the site, and he wrote this blog post about our experience. Many of our friends also took up the cause, sharing this blog post and following up with more information as they heard of it – good friends like Chris Graham who blogs as The Story…

The Warrior (Abe’s Story Part I) by Tricia Drammeh
Click here to get your copy today!
Abe Alexander is an incredibly deep and complex character in the first part of this Spellbringers prequel. As a long time fan of both The Claiming Words and Spellbringers, I was beyond delighted to hear that Tricia Drammeh was bringing us an early look at the one “Mr. Alexander.”
Before reading this book, I wasn’t quite certain what to expect. I enjoy the Spellbringers characters so much, and I was interested to see how she could build onto this already complex world. I absolutely loved it! I hadn’t given too much thought to Abe’s back story, but The Warrior made me appreciate him so much more.
If you love the Spellbringers, you have read this book!! It is a must.

I #AmWriting
This is such a well written post!! #amwriting
If someone asked me, I’d tell them I haven’t written anything in three months, but that isn’t entirely true. I haven’t written as much as I would like. I haven’t worked on the projects I feel I should be working on. But I’ve written. (A little.)
To tell you the truth, I’ve been down on myself lately. Between chronic pain, exhaustion, and other life challenges, I barely write at all. I spend more time sleeping than on my laptop, and when I am on my laptop, I’m usually scrolling through Facebook instead of writing.
Months ago, I set a goal to finish the fourth book (Nightbound) in the Spellbringers series. I wanted to finish the book by the end of 2016. It didn’t happen. I’m still only about halfway through. Every time I sell a copy of Unbound (Book Three), I feel guilty because I haven’t worked on Nightbound since…

New Contest and Rewrite Update
I want to first apologize for being so quiet as of late. My husband and I moved, and we now have to move again. Long story, but we got approved for our new apartment and we should be all set up by next week. I am not in school any more, because I have decided that the route I was going was not for me. I love writing, I love books, and I was missing out on a lot of that while in school. So rather than kill myself over something that is not want I want to do with my life, I am stepping away and going back to focusing more on what I want to do. I did get a job with Barnes and Noble, and it is the best. Not only do I get to be surrounded by books, I get to see how the brick and mortar side of the business works. That being said, when I release the new version of Celine, I am going to try to make the series a mass-marketed title. This means that the price of the paperbacks will go up. I promise that the price of the digital format will stay the same low price that it has always been.
I still want to do the Slayer Handbook, but I don’t know when it is going to happen. I may have to release a few more books before I feel like I have enough non-spoiler material to share. However, it will happen.
Celine is coming along very well. The book will read a lot more like Jeremy, and I am very happy with where it is so far. Just a reminder that when it releases, if you have the Kindle version, it will automatically update. If you have a print copy, or any other format, show me a receipt and I will make sure you get the new version free of charge. It is definitely different, though the ending will be the same. There are new scenes, and things are being rearranged. It is much better. You don’t want to miss it.
A big congratulations to Michelle Foulks! She won the autographed copy of Celine. Just a reminder that the print edition has been pulled, so she has the last print copy available to the public of the original Celine story. Let’s give her a big round of applause.

The Characters I Hate
Another awesome post from the amazing Joleene Naylor
Though I haven’t mentioned it, I have been reading. I’ve just started Tricia Drammeh’s newest (yay!) and next I have DM Yates Dimmidiums #2 to beta. Before those, I read a book that took much longer than it should have. It looked like a good book. It sounded like a good book. It had romance, it had action, it had excitement, it had adventure, it was decently edited – it even had hot men. So what was the problem?
The protagonist was a Mary Sue.
A Mary Sue is basically a character that every character in the book instantly loves. Mary usually solves all problems, is clever, witty, ultra talented, and if she has flaws they only serve to make her somehow cuter. Often she is a personification of what the author wishes she was, hence why everyone falls in love with this character. (You can read about the history…

On My Mind- Ellie Goulding
Why is it that Ellie Goulding can always manage to capture the entire Night Touched series in her songs?? Seriously. This is very much Harper at the beginning of Jeremy.

Failures, goals, and what is going to be coming in 2016
A lot has happened to me this year, and I thought I would share with you guys. I have really let myself down this year. I wanted to get Celine rewritten and released before year end, but that does not appear to be in the realm of possibility. Work and school have gotten in the way too much.
Fortunately, a lot of things are changing for me next year, and I will be able to spend more time focusing on writing. I plan on doing more with the TNTC brand, finally finish the TNTC website, and perhaps even release the new Celine and Book Three on top of everything. I had a generous offer from a close person in my life to become a “backer” for my writing. I was beyond flattered, but I had to turn them down. It wasn’t that I wasn’t grateful, because believe me, I was. It was that I lack so much confidence in myself right now, that I don’t think I would ever be able to repay their investment. I mean, they offered me something great, and I am so much of a coward, I couldn’t just say “Yes! Thank you! I won’t let you down.” The reason being, I didn’t accomplish all of my goals. I didn’t do everything I set out to do, how in the hell am I supposed to make a lucrative business out of something like that?
I feel like a big failure because of how much I didn’t do.Yeah, I did get the BNT mini series finished, and it does seem to be performing well, but I didn’t accomplish all of my goals. I didn’t allow myself the time to focus like I should have, and ended up being overwhelmed with too much. I now know the importance of organizing. Over the last few years, I have been very quick to advise people on how to self publish, but I can’t seem to follow any of that advice myself.
I follow Laurell K. Hamilton on Twitter, and I am amazed by what a writing machine she is. I also learned something very interesting about her writing method, that I think I might try myself. Instead of talking about a word count, she keeps a page count. It seems like her goal is 10 pages a day. I feel like building to something like that would be doable. I mean, 10 pages can mean any number of words. It seems like it might been less stressful. Of course, I don’t know, but setting a goal of a certain number of pages per day seems a lot less intimidating. I am definitely going to try that next year.
What about you guys? What are your goals for 2016? What do you think you didn’t do well in 2015? Any advice, tips, or personal stories? Please share in the comments!
