Bad reviews, and poor sports: The literary world we live in.

When a published author receives a bad review, they chalk it up to mistakes they’ll never make again. Typically, anyway. There are some authors who believe themselves better than any other author on the market. However, when it comes down to it, they lack basic spelling and grammar skills, and refuse to listen to people trying to tell them they need to find an editor. Then, when the back lash from not taking the time with their work hits, they whine and cry and claim learning disabilities to gain unwarranted sympathy.

I rated a book a one star. On Amazon and on Goodreads. I will keep the “author” and the “book” nameless, more for the reason that I think she doesn’t deserve any kind of attention for any reason. I don’t particularly care about her privacy, though. I want to get that out of the way first. Celine has not come out yet. It won’t be out for a couple more weeks. This “author”, while having no clue what the book is about, rated it a one star on Goodreads specifically because I rated her “book” a one star. Admittedly, I would be kind of bummed for such a low review if my book was actually out on the market, but I would have taken it and moved on. I know that I shouldn’t let it get to me, but I just feel like we all need to be mature and take the reviews we receive. I would totally take this review if it was justified, but it’s not. I think my venting is over, but either way, I’m not happy. I feel that this “author” needs to learn what the meaning of “grow up” means.

I won’t let her get me down. I know that my book has been loved and cared for and is getting the proper clean up before its release.Unlike hers.

Stolen work

Stolen work

Misty Wright has stolen Jennifer Cloud’s novel “Crying Blood” and is trying to sell it as her own work, calling it “Assassin’s Love.” If you or anyone you know has purchased this book, please get a refund. Also, if you have a moment, please go to Amazon and review “Assassin’s Love” as a 1 star and comment on it being stolen. Plagiarism is a serious crime and we all need to work together to put an end to it.

I (heart) Blog Hop entry

Well, I am sick. Like, really sick. I have not managed to get near as much work done as I would have liked, and everything is being pushed back because of it. Since I am participating in this amazing event and I have had nothing planned out, I thought I would give you guys a little sneak peek! You guys are going to a preview of the Prologue, plus chapters 1-6 of TNTC Book 1: Celine! (It was saved as a web page so it looks a little funny, format wise)

Book 1 Preview- Prologue through Chapter 6

Slayer’s Field Guide is being pushed back

Just to let you guys know, the Slayer’s Field Guide is being pushed back until further notice. I have been working on the outline for it and in doing that, I have found that it reveals too many spoilers for the Night Touched. The plan is for it to come out late this year, early next year. There are going to be several books in this series and I don’t want to give anything away before hand. I know it isn’t a big deal right now, as you all haven’t heard much about it to begin with. Hope you all have a great weekend!

The Flight of Fancy Award

I’m pleased to announce that I have been nominated for The Flight of Fantasy Award which has been newly created by the wonderful Sophie Tallis. Please follow her :D I was nominated by Tori and I’s Book Mama Tricia Drammeh. She has been the best mentor I could possibly ask for.

Here are the official rules for The Flight of Fantasy Award:

Link back to the person who nominated you.
State 11 things about yourself (it’s a Spinal Tap thing!), including why you love fantasy and your first or favourite fantasy book.
Nominate 7 bloggers for this award and link to them. (If you want to link back to me as well, that would be lovely but isn’t required!)
Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

My eleven random facts:

I currently work at a call center doing customer service.
I read the first four books of The Mortal Instrument Series in a week while I was going through chemo
My favorite fantasy novels are The Mortal Instrument Series as well as The Infernal Devices prequel series by Cassandra Clare
My favorite anime of all times is Sailor Moon
I just completed Avatar: The Last Airbender after never seeing it before
Due to a pleasant misunderstanding, I’m already working on the cover for my second book, even though it hasn’t been written yet.
I sometimes wish I was Rose Tyler and Brian was my Human Doctor.
I used to be obsessed with Anastasia Romanov
I also used to be obsessed with the Rose Red mini series by Stephen King (Tori and I will watch it any time we get together)
Charr are my favorite race in Guild Wars 2
Tori and I randomly break out into song over Skype like we live in a musical

Editing all weekend

There definitely won’t be a blog this weekend due to me trying to edit my butt off and doing homework. I have a busy week next week because my campaign at work is ramping down (coming to an end) and I have to work 12 hours days… I know most of you probably do that already but it just sounds nuts to me. I did find out I am up for a new campaign but I have to study for a test that I have to take on Wednesday for it.

Wish me luck!

M.
