Cesare Has Spoken! Cool New Blurb for Blood and Rain from One of my Current Favorite Authors

adam“Many authors nowadays get lauded for writing ‘throwback’ horror fiction, but none of them quite goes the distance like Rolfe does in BLOOD AND RAIN. Werewolves, silver samurai swords, and small New England towns: it all makes you wish this was twenty years ago so you can take the paperback off a supermarket spinner-rack and huff the yellowed pages.” – Adam Cesare, author of Mercy House and Exponential

Yeah, this blurb is another big deal for me. Ever since I read Adam Cesare’s The Summer Job, And quickly followed that with Tribesmen, Exponential, and Video Night, I’ve been in awe of his skills. I got to meet him at HorrorHound in Cincinnati last March and got a chance to sit down over a couple beers and talk shop.  Super cool guy, super cool style, and an author totally worth your time.

NEW RELEASE ALERT: GOD BOMB! Get the Brand Spankin’ New Release from Kit Power.

So, this is the land of “virtual” friends…

I met author Kit Power sometime last year or earlier this year (I forget which) via some back and forth commenting on a mutual friends Facebook post. If I recall, we were aggressively discussing the merits of…oh, hell…probably self-publishing or something. Regardless, after some back and forth verbal nonsense, we settled down and found a common ground: music!

Since then, we’ve talked Oasis (and how brilliant their b-sides are) and partaken in the 2015 Author Lip-Sync Battle (you can witness Kit’s fantastic tribute to the mighty Skid Row HERE).

Anyways, Kit and I also have new releases coming out within a week of one another. Me, with Blood and Rain, and Kit, with God Bomb!

Print

Somebody wants answers.

North Devon, England. 1995. A born-again revival meeting in a public building. The usual mix of the faithful, the curious, and the desperate. And one other – an atheist suicide bomber. He’s angry. He wants answers. And if God doesn’t come and talk to him personally, he’s going to kill everyone in the building…

Kit is a super rad dude.  I bought God Bomb! at Midnight and have it locked and  loaded on my Kindle right now. I implore you to do the same.

For more fun and info on the author and the book (which is also available in Print), check out these links:

Kit Power: The Deep End (Crystal Lake Publishing Guest Post)

Happening Today:

God Bomb! Facebook Launch Party w/ Joint Launch with Rich Hawkins (The Last Outpost)

And Grab a copy of the book by clicking the amazing cover above or going to AMAZON

Good luck, KIT!

Here Comes the Blood: Blood and Rain Blog Tour and Publisher’s Weekly

“Rolfe hits his mark whenever he buckles down to describe a killing…” – Publisher’s Weekly

Hey, hey, my, my!  We’re just a few weeks away from the official release of my debut novel for Samhain Publishing, Blood and Rain. That means I’ll be posting a lot of new links for you all to check out as part of the Blood and Rain Blog Tour with Erin from Oh, For the Hook of a Book.  It’s not too late to grab a slot for an interview or review if you want to help us spread the word. If you  have a website or podcast or  an active blog and would like an eCopy of Blood and Rain to review, contact Erin via email: hookofabook@hotmail.com   and let her know! I love doing interviews and podcasts!

I will be doing a book signing at Barnes and Noble in Augusta, Maine in late October (Date TBA). And I look forward to chatting it up with you guys online for the next few months.

On a Very COOL/Not so cool  front….as you may have noticed above, Blood and Rain was reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly!  Woot!  But, despite my nifty little blurb there, they were not so kind.  Oh well, you can’t please them all, right?

Here is the link if you wish to see the smack down: Blood and Rain-Publisher’s Weekly

On a more positive note, I’ve had a plethora of rave reviews to counter the PW judo chop.

“Wow! Easily one of the best werewolf books I’ve ever read.” – Hunter Shea, author of Tortures of the Damned and The Dover Demon

“Some good ‘ol fashion violence and gore…” – Jason Parent, author of Seeing Evil

“Glenn Rolfe takes a swing at the werewolf genre and hits a home run.” – Russell James, author of Q Island and Dreamwalker

“…not just another werewolf story, Rolfe has managed to take the werewolf to a-whole-nother level…” – Horror Novel Reviews

“Rolfe tells a tale that captures your attention like King without all of the wordiness. He also spills the red stuff like Laymon…” – Into the Macabre

I was also interviewed this week for Mangled Matters

Thanks for all the love, guys! See you on the tour!

Enjoy some werewolfage:

The Horror community is trying to make social networking fun again!

Check out this blog post and all of the groovy lipsync vids!

Originally posted on Horror Reviews for You:

Hey everyone,

With all the utter crap going around on the social media sites these days, I wanted to bring you something fun and in most cases, more terrifying than anything these guys could ever write.

A couple days ago, Matt Shaw challenged horror authors to a lip sync battle using the hashtag #AuthorLipsyncBattles. He called out specific authors by name, but invited any horror author who wants to participate. A few authors have taken him up on his challenge. There are no rules. Simply choose a song and lip sync in the most entertaining way possible.

These are the entries so far.

the-dover-demon

The Dover Demon is real…and it has returned.

In 1977, Sam Brogna and his friends came upon a terrifying, alien creature on a deserted country road. What they witnessed was so bizarre, so chilling, they swore their silence. But their lives were changed forever.

Decades later, the town of Dover has been hit by a massive blizzard. Sam’s son, Nicky, is drawn to search for the infamous cryptid, only to disappear into the bowels of a secret underground lair. The Dover Demon is far deadlier than anyone could have believed. And there are many of them. Can Sam and his reunited friends rescue Nicky and battle a race of creatures so powerful, so sinister, that history itself has been shaped by their secretive presence?

darkness-rising

It’s all fun and games until…

Marty Weaver, an emotionally scarred poet, has been bullied his entire life. When he drives out to the lake to tell an old friend that he’s fallen in love with a girl named Jennifer, Marty encounters three sadistic killers who have some twisted games in store for him. But Marty has dark secrets of his own buried deep inside him. And tonight, when all the pain from the past is triggered, when those secrets are revealed, blood will flow and hell will rise.

Nowhere to run!

Gillian Foster is desperate. She received a very strange letter in the mail not long ago. Since then, she’s been seeing shadowy figures everywhere. Coming for her. Frantic to find a safe place, she leaves home with her daughter Meg, only to find there is no way to outrun her pursuers.

Twenty years later, Gillian has been admitted to Hawthorne Psychiatric Facility. Meg receives a similar letter and is hunted by an unseen force. Is Meg also mentally ill, or are these creatures real? And if so, was her mother right all those years ago? Is there no place to hide?

bonesy

Bones on the run!

When Reverend Renner’s mentor gives him a brass rubbing of a skeleton, nick-named Bonesy, a chain of calamity ensues. Bonesy breaks free from its frame and begins a violent, chaotic search for––what? It’s up to Renner and his investigative partner, ex-linebacker Dale Quist, to uncover Bonesy’s spectral motives. Bonesytakes Renner & Quist on their most treacherous, rollicking supernatural adventure yet, a journey that will lead them from the ghost of Carole Lombard to the fens of Tudor England. And the books they find along the way are not the sort you can judge by their cover.

Find all of these titles in all available format at a limited time discounted price at Samhain Publishing. Click the picture below to go direct to the Samhain Horror website!

Blood and Rain Gets Some More Love

Blood and Rain is a monumental piece of horror fiction. It represents everything I love about werewolves, creature features, siege films, and everything else in between. It is still early in the year, but this is a clear cut candidate for my favorite book of 2015.” — Horror Underground

Nate Kenyon backs Blood and Rain! I’m grinning like a madman.

11379190_467562153430904_694738704_n

Hey guys, just got a great blurb from former Leisure Book author, Nate Kenyon!  I remember when I read Bloodstone, The Bone Factoryand then Sparrow Rock...they all came to my mailbox as part of the LB Horror Book Club. All three of these novels are underrated. Nate shares the ability and talent of each and every LB author of the day. I really enjoyed each of his books, and when I discovered that Nate was not only from Maine, but from my neck of the woods….it blew my mind.

NateKenyon_Real1

A couple years back, I got to meet him at Anthocon. He was super approachable, and we even reminisced about “cruisin'” Western Avenue in Augusta. Shortly after this meeting, I wrote to Nate about reviewing one of my pieces. He warned me that he would do it, but he wouldn’t coddle me (not his exact words, but you get the point).  I think I chickened out and left him alone.

Fast forward to this summer.

I reached out and Nate answered. He agreed to read, Blood and Rain,  my debut novel for Samhain Publishing. Same rules, but this time, I felt confident enough to follow through. This week, Nate sent me this blurb:

“A major new talent rises from the Maine woods…Rolfe is the real deal, and Blood and Rain is a classic monster novel, full of blood and teeth and the kind of razor sharp writing that makes the pages sing. Small town horror is back, with a vengeance!”

–Nate Kenyon, award-winning author of Sparrow Rock, Diablo: Storm of Light and Day One

Thank you, Nate, for taking the time, for being an inspiration and letting a kid from Central Maine know that your last name doesn’t have to be King (or Hill) to get noticed.

Pre-order your eBook copy of Blood and Rain tonight!

Gearing up for the Blood and Rain Train…Get your Claws out!

Yes, I am pumped for the release of my first print novel with Samhain Publishing. After two novellas, I’m ready to get a physical book into your hands!  And what a book….Blood and Rain is my favorite thing that I’ve written so far. I’ve loved werewolves for so long (thanks to my bro). The release date is October 6th. I will be doing a book signing at Barnes and Noble in Augusta, Maine the weekend before Halloween. I will also be hitting the internet highways and embarking on a massive Blog Tour!  Hair and devil horns in the air, volume cranked to 11, and ready to party!

Anyways…. Some early reviews are coming in. I’d like to share a couple of those with you now:

“A welcome addition to the werewolf mythos and proof that we’re in the presence of a rising star in the genre.”

– Ronald Malfi, Author of December Park and Little Girls

“This is werewolves as they should be.”–Scarlet’s Web

The best werewolf novel I’ve read since Jeff Strand’s Wolf Hunt.”–Horror After Dark

So, yeah….I’m excited to see that some people like this one as much as I do.  :)

Pre-orders are open for the eBook through Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com

Pre-orders for the print book will be open in September.

I will also have print copies available at HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis, IN  Sept 11-13.
