Sign-up here!
HOP DETAILS
Please follow the instructions below as we aim to make this hop a nice experience for the hoppers:
1. The hop is open to both book bloggers and authors. If you are an author, your Breakthrough Authors Blog Hop post should feature a post about the struggles and/or triumphs of breaking through in the business or what makes your work unique. Basically, the post should be personal but not a huge sales pitch. Add in a blurb about your work, either a specific book or a series, then list a giveaway for it or something related. For bloggers, your post can be about something related to what the authors are doing and/or about a specific book you feel is ground breaking or that the world needs to know more about. Your giveaway can be anything book related, but not necessarily related to the book you write about.
2. You should provide at least 1 giveaway for the commenters on your blog/website.a. You can set up your own rules. For example, aside from leaving a comment, you can ask them to do additional things like follow you on FB, Twitter, etc with corresponding points, etc.b. You will pick your own winner for the prize/s you are giving away, and announce it at your blog/website.

New release Leonardo DiCaprio is a Vampire by Julie Lynn Hayes
[image error]
I hear voices in my head. No, I’m not daft or certifiable—at least no more than any other writer, I think. The voices that I hear are not the kind that tell me to do strange things or incite me to desperate acts, rather they belong to my characters, both those I know and those I’ve yet to meet. And I’ve learned something in over forty years of writing—when they speak, I listen!Carrying paper and pencil or pen is wonderful advice for those moments when your characters begin to speak and you want to capture them for posterity. It’s all well and good to say oh, I’ll remember that, no problem, until you’re sitting in front of your computer screen and your fingers are in place upon the keyboard and suddenly you’ve forgotten every single word you were sure you’d remember forever. As they talk, you should write, that much is just a given. But sometimes you aren’t in a position to write—for example, while you’re driving, or when you’re showering (bathing isn’t quite so bad, at least you can take the paper and pen into the bathroom and write while you soak), or even when you’re having sex. So what do you do? If it’s just one line, you can keep repeating it to yourself until you’re in a position to write it down, and that can work. But what if it’s more than that?I have a little trick for those moments. At least it works for me. I get a mental picture of the emotions involved, and capture them visually, imprinting them with the words, almost like a hot key. So that when I’m ready, I “press” the key, and then it comes out where I can capture it. If I let the character ramble before I’m ready, I find that I lose the words. But if I imprint them in this way, then they stay there, waiting for me to access them. For example, a couple of years ago my daughter and I went to see Inception at the theatre, the Leonardo di Caprio film. I wasn’t even sure at first that I wanted to see it, but she did so I agreed to go. Before we went, I got to thinking about Leo and other films that I’ve seen him in over the years, including Total Eclipse (Leo and David Thewlis – totally hot! Kissing and nakedness, very delicious!), and I heard a voice speak to me.“Did you know that Leonardo di Caprio is a vampire?”Sounds like an odd beginning or introduction even for a character. But I thought what the heck, let’s listen. I realized that this was a new character, so I kept the line in my head, all through Inception. Afterwards, I worked on the story, as I drove home. First, I needed character names. In Inception, Cillian Murphy plays a guy named Robert Fisher. He’s an important character, and his name stuck in my head, but I reversed it and changed it slightly. So Robert Fisher became Fisher Roberts. One character down, now for number two (I already knew this would be m/m, so I needed another male name). As I was driving, I scanned everything around me—billboards, businesses, vehicles, whatever—for the mate to Fisher Roberts. I saw an ad for hunting, and suddenly I had it—Hunter, who became Hunter Long. It wasn’t til long after I began to write that I saw what I had inadvertently done – Fisher and Hunter. It might seem contrived to some, but I swear to you it was totally accidental.I knew nothing about these two guys, but I began to write, using that first line, and I kept writing until some 35k later, I was done. Or at least I thought it was. After a brief stint with a publisher who shall remain nameless, I received Leo back into my own hands and then I took the original story and added 5k to it, in the form of Hunter’s POV, and then I sold it to Torquere. And now we have a happy ending, as well as a new cover and more depth to the story of Hunter and Fisher. This isn’t the only time this has happened to me, far from it. There once was a time when I was researching a non-fiction book, a children’s book about composer Percy Granger, when a voice began to speak, and he told me he was a gay werewolf. I could feel that he was a nice man, so I politely told him to please wait til I was done with the other book. But he kept talking, so to appease him I thought I would just write down a few notes and hold onto them until I was ready. Those few notes became the first chapter of To The Max. Which became an entire book. And which now has a sequel. All because a voice wanted to be heard. Oh, that other book never got written yet. Guess Percy needs to speak louder, eh?Another time, it was Judas Iscariot that spoke, and that book became Revelations (for which I’m still seeking a publisher). Sometimes I only get to the first chapter, and then it sits as a WIP until I get back to it. But at least it’s a start.I hate to think about all of the characters that I have lost or forgotten because I wasn’t able to keep their words in my head. Perhaps they’ll come back again someday, but I’m not holding my breath. That goes for the books I’ve written in my dreams, but forget the moment I wake up. Since I started using my little mnemonic trick, I haven’t lost a thing, and that’s a good feeling. I just hope my readers agree that it was worth it!Do your characters talk to you? Do you have any tricks you use for getting your characters down onto paper? I’d love to hear about it! Thanks for having me, A.R.! Have a great day, everyone!
Blurb:Halloween is the night when the veil between the worlds grows thin... Not that Fisher Roberts believes in Halloween or any other holiday. Unlike his roommate and longtime best friend, Hunter Long. The trouble is that Fisher’s feelings for Hunter are more than that of a friend, and it’s getting harder and harder to hide those feelings from Hunter.
Fisher has promised Hunter to attend a Halloween party with him on All Hallow’s eve, even though he’d really rather not. Things start out badly and then take a decided turn for the strange. Hunter confesses to being a vampire. Not that Fisher believes that, of course—that’s just Hunter’s strange sense of humor. But the kiss in the park... what’s that about? And at the Halloween party from Hell, nothing and no one are what they seem to be... Halloween madness or something more?
Excerpt: Fisher trembled, an expectant trembling, as if he were waiting for something to happen. He didn't have to wait long. Suddenly those beautiful lips were touching his, and then they were kissing, truly kissing. No, it wasn't Fisher's first kiss, but it was his first with a man. His only kiss with a man. And he was amazed at what a difference there was between this kiss and the others. Not because of gender, but because it was with Hunter. Because Hunter was someone special.
He felt himself giving in to those lips, melting into that touch, with a heat that penetrated his entire body, vibrating in its intensity. Now Hunter was nibbling at his lips, soft tender kisses that shook him to his very foundation. His head was reeling, and he was on the verge of losing all sense of self when he felt the first raindrops splash upon his upturned face.
What the hell. He pulled back at this sudden insertion of reality into a very unreal scene, his mouth forming a large "O" of amazement, his eyes going into saucer-plate mode. But even as he did, Hunter moved forward, sliding his hips until their knees were touching. From this position, luckily, they couldn't get much closer, or Hunter would realize what else he had raised beside's Fisher's blood pressure.
He was going to do it again. Fisher just knew it, he could feel it, and oh God how badly he wanted it, as he felt a whimper rise in his throat, indicating a neediness he wasn't aware he even possessed. But the drops were turning thicker now, more of them, and they were brutally cold. A definite shock to the system. His brain was screaming to him to get out, get out now.
Even though this was what he wanted, exactly what he wanted. So what was the problem? What did he think would happen if he gave in to his feelings? He didn’t know. He was afraid of things that he couldn't even explain to himself.
He practically threw himself backward from the picnic table in his haste to get away, landing on the hard ground that would soon be turning to mud if this downpour kept up. A steady rain it was now, and lightning crackled angrily above their heads.
"Fisher?" Hunter rose hastily, reaching for him. So Fisher did the only logical thing he could do -- he gained his feet and ran, as hard and as fast as he could. He hated himself with every step that he took -- and he knew he had never loved Hunter Long more.
Julie Lynn Hayes was reading at the age of two and writing by the age of nine and always wanted to be a writer when she grew up. Two marriages, five children, and more than forty years later, that is still her dream. She blames her younger daughters for introducing her to yaoi and the world of M/M love, a world which has captured her imagination and her heart and fueled her writing in ways she'd never dreamed of before. She especially loves stories of two men finding true love and happiness in one another's arms and is a great believer in the happily ever after. She lives in St. Louis with her daughter Sarah and two cats, loves books and movies, and hopes to be a world traveler some day. She enjoys crafts, such as crocheting and cross stitch, knitting and needlepoint and loves to cook. While working a temporary day job, she continues to write her books and stories and reviews, which she posts in various places on the internet. Her family thinks she is a bit off, but she doesn't mind. Marching to the beat of one's own drummer is a good thing, after all. Her published works can be found at Dreamspinner Press, MuseitUp Publishing, Torquere Press, and eXtasy Books. She has also begun to self-publish and is an editor at MuseitUp.

Goodreads Blurb:
Mystery seems to have it all, youth, beauty, wealth and brains. She has lived on an Island with her father most of her life and has only begun to spread her wings. There is only one problem. She is not like those around her, she is different inside, different in ways no one could imagine, even more so than her father could have imagined. He was the one who created her from his vision, and his Theory in Depth. The theory that made him outcast, the one that started with the words: “As man was created from the depths of the seas, it is logical to assume that someday man should be able to return.”
Adam’s people mingle with those who walk the face of the Earth and there is little to differentiate them from anyone else. They are here to make sure mankind doesn’t stray too close to their cities under the seas. Adam rules, he is of the ancient blood and there are not many like him left. Young, powerful and almost at his prime he hears a story of a young woman who lives amongst those on land. That alone is not that astounding, what brings him to the surface to check on her is that she shares his ancient blood.
Adam realizes when he sees Mystery that not only is she young, she is in need of guidance. She has no idea what she is and that is the real danger, to both her and the world around her. Her very nature will guide her actions and if not taught the right lessons she will become destructive and cruel. She cannot help what she is anymore than any of the rest of his people and the man who created her had no idea what he unleashed into the world. There are few who will be able to control the power she welds, he is the one best fitted for that position.
My Review:
Besides an awesome cover, Theory in Depth is an original, intriguing and touching story that all M.A. Abraham fans and fans of the genre will truly enjoy!
Mystery is a very special and different female. Her beauty surpasses any and all others around her. Irresistibly so. She has innocence, mystery and powers beyond imagination but she's lonely, lost and confused. Unsure where she belongs and where to call home. One day someone new, different than all others in her life comes along, she gets feelings...uncertain and unfamiliar feelings that she is unsure of how to interpret. Should she run and hide or should she embrace them? Love, loss, gain and pain are just some of what she experiences throughout the story.
I'd LOVE to have more of Mystery and Adam. What happens after everything finally got settled for those two special beings (hint hint M.A.). All readers reading this right now. I have one warning for you... Be ready for a whole new world people and for a couple of love/hate relationships with a character or two (particularly Mystery's cousin, grrr). Oh also prepare for a character crush...or two :)

Blood Reborn Cover Reveal
I’d like to thank Ava for helping me to reveal the cover for the fourth book in the Progeny Series, BLOOD REBORN. It is expected to release November 19, 2013. A companion novel, Yearning, is set to release February of 2014.
BLOOD REBORN (The Progeny Series #4)“Hell hath no fury like a Wiccan reborn.” Shauna McCutchin and Ascher Rousseau share a deep and passionate bond that merges their Wiccan and vampire worlds. Destined, they’ve endured trials and suffered unimaginable pain in their quest for a happily ever after.
Endowed with amazing supernatural abilities and the added attributes of her new vampire existence, Shauna is a force to rival all others—a dangerous new breed of vampire that defies conventional wisdom.
Darkness shrouds the couple’s pasts and enemies are determined to ruin their future. Will Shauna surrender to the evil side of her nature, or will she stand by Ascher’s side as the Rousseaus prepare for the revolution?
Shauna will either be an immortal miracle or an unholy menace.
About Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane Ashlynne Laynne/Q. Lane is a songwriter, poet and author of erotic paranormal and contemporary romance, who has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny. The vampire/witch pairing is unique and different when most books pair vampires with werewolves.
She loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book six of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Alterity Series, and several novella spin offs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow her online on Twitter . Check out her Manic Readers page, Blog and Website , or leave her a note in her Reader Email .
She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son.
About The Progeny Series At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love. The fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. When we meet Ascher, he’s grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.
All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus.
This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen. The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that has existed for ages. This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults, as it contains adult sensuality, language and themes.
Fall of 2013, Ashlynne Laynne assumed a new pen, Q. Lane, and started her own publishing, Q-Rotic Press. The remainder of her Progeny Series and all future projects will release through this new entity.

Guest Post with Aiden Truss

Synopsis:When Rose woke up in her favourite shop doorway, she was resigned to yet another day of hunger, struggle and abuse. This was life on the streets after all.
What she wasn’t prepared for was a visit from a demon, an invitation back to his temporally insubstantial sanctuary, and forced to take sides in a battle involving most of the denizens of hell. Oh, and a boat trip down the river Thames.
After a disappointing start to the day, things were about to get a bit more interesting…

Self-publicisingI’m learning quickly that in order to be a writer these days you have to be a near relentless self-publicist. Unless of course you’ve been given a massive contract with one of the big publishers and can rely on their marketing machinery to get your book in front of people. And, despite having worked in marketing for years, seeing myself as a brand doesn’t come easily and neither does forcing my book under people’s noses at every opportunity. Put it down to naivety, but most of my energy has gone into thinking up stories and the best way to convey them. Very little of my thinking has gone into advertising channels, pay-per-click and market segmentation. For someone who enjoys the solitary aspect of being a writer this is all very jarring.A few weeks ago I was at a big family party for my father-in-law’s birthday. It just happened to be the day after my novel Gape was published and my mother-in-law took great pride in announcing to everyone that my book was out. Naturally everyone was very interested and wanted to know what it was about and where they could find it and I was suddenly the centre of attention. Now, I knew absolutely everyone there but the experience was still very uncomfortable. I tried to field questions but felt so self-conscious that I found an excuse to duck out and sit somewhere else.I hope I’m learning though. I’ve taken the plunge and setup a Facebook page, I’ve contacted my local newspaper to raise awareness of the book and have even arranged a launch event at my favourite local comic book store (something I need to do, but which is already causing me sleepless nights). I’m getting word out through various social networks – on and off-line – and word is slowly getting around. But it all still feels very strange to be pushing myself and my work. Perhaps confidence comes with time and it will quickly become second nature – hell, most people just love talking about themselves, so why should I be any different?Well, because I just am.In an ideal world, my work would do all the talking. People would just stumble across it online, take a chance, be blown away and then evangelize about it to all their friends. I could just do nice little online interviews from time to time (no TV or radio!), but essentially it would all come to me while I work at the next novel. And when that one is published, the same cycle of effortless acquisition would start over again. And then I snap violently out of the daydream and remember that I have to get out there and talk to people and expose myself. A friend of my wife even suggested that Gapemight be great for her book group and that perhaps I might attend one of their meetings and answer questions. This is absolutely the kind of thing that I need to be doing, but the prospect makes my blood run cold. Self-publicity, it seems, is a necessary evil for a writer. But I just want to write about evil.

Here's a HOT excerpt from Wunder (0.5 Dreamz):
Why? Why the torture? Each and every single night since I became a woman I awaken sweating, panting, hot and bothered from the pure sexual torture. Many times with my hand rubbing my most intimate place. A dream, so many dreams. Each one is different, but all contain the same faceless dark haired stranger.
“UGH!”
The only things I know for sure is he is tall, has raven black hair, the same color as mine, but much shorter. He has the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. Glowing eyes that seem to be able to see into my soul. My heart’s deepest desires and he always grants them to me without pause. It was strange at first, seeing him and yet not. Not being able to make out his facial features, except for his eyes. I got used to it throughout the years, I guess. One thing I DO know, is the way he makes me feel, always!
So much passion, heat and desire. He makes me feel beautiful, irreplaceable and wanted in a way, I imagine, every woman wants to feel.
Frustration at its finest. This latest dream seemed more realistic than all of the others. I still feel the ripples on my skin from his touch; the most intimate touch I’ve ever experienced, the only touch from a male I’ve had in such a manner. The goose bumps are just starting to go away. His caress is always so sensual and arousing. My mouth is still dry from all of the panting I’ve done, my panties are drenched and my heart is still pounding.
No words could ever describe my desire to meet this man of my dreams. That is—if he truly does exist. I’m going to be 25 years old and have zero sexual experience. I’d give anything to feel even a portion of what I’ve felt during these amazingly satisfying yet torturous dreams. Anything!
When I finally do get out of bed and stroll towards the bathroom, the floors feel extra cold on my overheated feet. “Definitely starting off with a cold shower.” I turn on the water full blast cold, toss my sleep shirt and panties in the hamper and brace for the shock of cold water against my flesh. “ACK!” Holy crap does it sting. But hey, it works. My body no longer feels the intense heat of arousal, just the residual tingles left after the orgasm, still lingering along my body. I fully submerge after adding some hot water to the mix, when I hear banging on the bathroom door. I jump slightly and slip a bit, almost landing flat on my ass. Luckily, I have fast reflexes and right myself quickly.
“Wunder? WUNDER?? Are you all right in there?” My dad is a real worry-wart when it comes to me. The best dad ever!
“Yea dad. Water was cold. That’s it. I’m fine.”
“Alright hun. I’m making coffee now”
“Ok, dad. I’ll be out in a few,” I answer him with now chattering teeth. I’ve only added a touch of hot water and need to add more, so I can get washed up and get out. It’s just that my body is super sensitive after these dreams.
EVERYTHING feels more intense. But the shock of cold water is the only thing which seems to help tone down my racing hormones and heated flesh to at least some semblance of order, so I can function properly and keep my next pair of panties dry, for now.

Zombie Survival Kit
Before the TV went out, the news was filled with reports of widespread cannibalism. Now, the single zombie pawing at your front door has turned into ten zombies. You know your home has been compromised and you’ve made the decision to hit the road in an attempt to find a safe, secure location. You’ve got less than five minutes before the front door comes crashing down… What do you fill your backpack with?
Below is a list of items that I’d like to have in my zombie survival kit. As the zombie apocalypse eventually turned into a post-apocalyptic undead wasteland, I imagine this list would evolve to include things like a sleeping bag and a water purifier and other long-term items. However, this list is strictly for day-one survival:
· A bottle of water (I’ll deal with finding a long-term water supply after ensuring I’m not eaten alive by zombies.)
· Protein bars (Non-perishable and lightweight.)
· Basic toiletries (Toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant. And that’s about it.)
· First Aid Kit (You never know when you’re going to need a Band-Aid.)
· Road Flares (Can be used as a light source in the dark or to attract the attention of search and rescue teams.)
· Hunting knife (You know, for cutting stuff.)
· Multi-tool (This comes in handy all the time, zombies or not.)
· Hatchet (Useful tool and a good quiet method of self-defense.)
· Pistol grip shotgun (I’m sure the noise would attract zombies, so I’d use sparingly and only when absolutely necessary.)
· Hand-crank flashlight/radio (When the TV and internet go down, a radio may be the only way to receive communication from the rest of the world.)
· Rope (To secure a door or possibly an undead family member in the unlikely hope there’s a cure.)
· Cash (It might be worthless eventually, however, even if the world has been overrun with zombies, I think cash would still be king.)
· A few disposable lighters (A quick and easy fire source.)
· A change of clothes (The first pair you’re wearing will probably be splattered with blood.)
· A good book (Once you find a secure location, you’ll want something to pass the time. May I recommend The Undying Love. It’s my debut novel that has recently been released by Sirens Call Publications. It’s about two newlyweds who find themselves fighting for their lives after their wedding is crashed by the living dead. It has plenty of horror, romance, action, and searing post-apocalyptic drama. In addition to being entertaining, it will also provide you with some more ideas on zombie survival tactics as you continue your fight against the undead!)

#WedBriefs Flash Fiction Lady #23 by A.R. Von

Happy Hump Day and welcome to Wednesday Briefs Flash Fiction! As always, I was given various options to inspire this weeks brief. I chose to go with the following 2 photos below.
For those of you that have not read the prior week's portions and would like to. Click HERE to access them all.
I hope you enjoy & thank you for reading!

We walk to the place Iria and I first met to call upon Tethy’s. My uncle has come along with us, having asked if he could bear witness to all of these ‘unbelievable’ events. He’s never laid eyes upon a goddess or a unicorn. [image error] Iria and I could not deny him his request. Especially, after all of the help he has given to us. We hope to at least get him to witness Iria in her birth form to appease his curiosity.
“So, we are now to talk with Tethy’s and request a meeting with the goddess, so you can ask her for help—I mean guidance on how to find the amethyst and to find a way to better protect Iria in order for her to change to her true form during the full moon, correct? Maybe your goddess will give you a lucky charm or incantation to use. I personally know of none. But I don’t know all I’d like to.”
Iria and I exchange glances with one another and smile. We’ve told him of our plan multiple times. But he seems to not want to accept or believe it. Or maybe, he just truly does not understand. One can never tell with my uncle and I continue to humor him with answers. “Yes, that is what we are mainly here for. We also want to tell the goddess about what has happened concerning Than and Cassiel and how Iria was able to draw power from a full moon that was not full at the time. It was actually not even present! For the record uncle, we both feel you know plenty. So, don’t discredit yourself.”
He smiles, nods his head in agreement then looks around curiously. “Exactly where is this place again?”
I cannot help but to chuckle at my uncle and his ways. I feel as if he is a child in a grown man’s body at times. His presence does help to ease the tension that both Iria and I carry and I believe he knows this and that’s why he adds on to his already immature, yet entertaining questions. “No much further now uncle. We will see the waters through those trees right there any moment now.”
Uncle Dillon puts some speed to his steps, getting far ahead of Iria and me. Then suddenly, he comes to a screeching halt. His eyes go wide and a gasp of wonder passes his lips. He turns his body fully toward us. His lips moving as a fish out of water, gasping for breath. He gives his head a shake and stutters out, “Mer-mermaids. There are fish with women’s bodies or— women with fish bodies sitting upon the rocks. I—I’ve never known...” He gives his head a shake and turns back towards the waters gazing upon it in awe, a smile lighting up his face.
Iria is also smiling and speaks for the first time since we set out, “Dillon, please do not get any closer. We must not frighten them. They might be there for a reason or they might be a danger. Whatever is the case may be. We go together, all right?”
Uncle Dillon sighs and relents with a nod of his head. “Well, come along then you two. I want to see them up close. I want the memory of them forever etched into my brain. I’d like to write about it you know?”
Both Iria and I shake our heads but move forward to see exactly what my uncle sees. Iria smiles as if she has seen it many times before and I feel my eyes widen in surprise.
I’ve been here hundreds of times throughout the years and I’ve never seen any such beings. They are close to body as Tethys is, but more much more stunning.
Where Tethys had a small patch in hair in the middle of her hair, these two creatures have hair, shiny, long and brilliant. It covers the entire top portion of their body. Bodies which have the bottom half of a fish! It’s just as I’ve heard in stories my grandmother once told me long ago. The scales have a shimmering opalescence to them in dazzling shades of greens and blues.
Iria grabs my hand and smiles at me while pulling me forward, closer to the mermaids. My uncle is right beside me with his jaw still loose at its hinges.
Just as we pass the last tree and bush, we enter the clearing just as the two mermaids stop what they’re doing. They both turn their heads in our direction with small smiles on their beautiful faces.
Speaking in unison, they look toward Iria and speak, “We’ve been awaiting your arrival our sister. Tethy’s has sent us here to help you with what you seek. Come sister and join us in the healing waters while we discuss what is to come for you.”
***
[image error] I give Dezso’s hand a quick squeeze of reassurance, then release it and move toward the two females. I go slowly in case Dezso or Dillon dares to disagree with my decision to go to them. But they both seem too captivated by what they see to drum up any other thoughts. I find a lot of humor in their reaction and will tease them well, when all is settled. “Greetings sisters. I am sorry if you’ve waited long. We’ve had a touch of trouble with some followers of the dark and needed to compose ourselves before taking on another task.”
They glance at one another and begin to giggle.
I don’t know what their reason for it is but I plan to find out. “Why do you laugh?”
“Oh we are sorry. We just were told what you and your beloved’s idea of umm…composing is and we wish we had a male to compose us in such a brilliant and pleasurable way as he has for you. That is all. We promise.” They are both grinning and each has a slight pink tint to their cheeks most likely from the thought of pleasure from a male by my guess.
I cannot help but to let out a laugh of surprise from their words as I move closer to them. “Alright now. Please back to task. What is it that we need to do to defeat our foes?”
Be sure to come back for the next brief!
***All parts of Lady, except for #1 will be removed from the blog within the next few weeks and released (with additional scenes) in ebook as well as print not too long after (I will let you know new title and all other information soon). I'm very excited about this and hope you'll join me for the thrill ride!***
(This story continues to be dedicated to my one and only sister, my Pookie. Her love of unicorns from when we were tots is what inspired me to write it. Love you my sissy!)

Excerpt from Wunder (0.5 Dreamz):
There are some others beside my dad and myself, who know what I truly am, but not many. My dad had no other choice but to try and find out more about me and what to expect as I grew and developed. He wanted to be prepared in case of anything happening because of my DNA. There seems to be no other part zombies of any sort around. So, he went to a couple of his closest friends who worked in the medical field, and they ran a multitude of tests on me. Comparing me to other humans, other zombies, even a few animals (to date there’s never been an infected animal of any type).
I don’t remember much about most of it. I was way too young to hold those memories. I do recall lights, very bright ones and some smells. I now know what one particular scent was. Zombies. Boy, do those suckers stink! I think it’s my heightened senses that make it so bad. I’d describe their scent as a combination of the stink in the air which comes into a car window when driving by an old sewage plant on a very hot day, combined with a rotted corpse. The smell of death reeks!
My dad always tells me he doesn’t smell them the way I do. Not even close. He can only smell them when he’s up close and getting personal with handing them their death. One of those ‘up close and personal meet the end of my machete’ types of meetings. He’s been by my side for all of it. He still is to this day. Even every month, when I have to go renew my proof of living, he’s right there by my side.
He insists on being there in case any changes occur within me. So, I won’t have to feel alone or frightened.
All they do to process anyone for their proof of living (which everyone has to go through no less than once a month) is prick your finger to draw a bit of blood. I guess you could say it’s somewhat similar to what a diabetic would do to test their blood sugar. Except in this case, they’re checking for a different sort of abnormality within. You know, the fucked up infected kind.
