Spotlight The Universe Doesn't Do Second Chances by Sean-Paul Thomas

Synopsis

A lonely man in his late thirties living an average life of missed
opportunities and regrets especially regarding the opposite sex, dies
in a plane crash somewhere over the English channel. When he awakens in
a subdued and bizarre subconscious state, he is granted by the powers
that be a second chance to spend a day with the two women in his life
who made an impact on his heart. Yet never had the courage to let go of
his social fears and inhibitions and act upon his natural instincts and
desires at the time of meeting them.

The first part of the book takes place over one day in the awe
inspiring Gothic city of Edinburgh in 2004. When our hero meets Alex on
a bus. A beautiful young tourist girl from the Czech Republic. They

surface.

The second part takes place in the late eighties. Our hero wakes up
back in high school upon the gorgeous tropical Island of Cyprus. Here
he is granted the second chance to meet Sarah. The pretty and athletic
tomboy. Who steels his heart while helping each other deal with school
bullies, army brat life, dark troubles at home, all in one magical
summers day adventure, both young lovers will never forget.

Excerpt

'So at school, did you ever fancy any of
your teachers?' I asked, re-igniting our conversation from earlier. Alex, with
her arms spread out behind her back and supporting her upper body on the grass,
glanced at me with a very confused look.

'Fancy?'

'You know, like have a crush on or find
attractive.'

Alex continued to stare at me blankly.

'Did you want to kiss any of your
teachers?' I said blatantly spelling it out.

Alex chuckled. 'Are you kidding me? All
my teachers were as old as the Earth.' She shivered with an over reactive
gesture and shook her head in disgust. She then turned back to face me with a
mischievous grin.

'But I'm guessing you did since you
brought this up.'

'As a matter of fact I did, yeah, when I
was around nine, now that I come to think about it.'

'Nine!' Alex looked shocked.

'Yeah, I had the biggest crush on my
primary school teacher, ever.'

'You did not.'

'I did to, I swear.'

'I remember how I'd always be the first
one to volunteer to do anything for her in class whenever she asked me, like
cleaning off the chalk from the black board or collecting everyone's homework
and staying behind after class to help tidy up.'

Alex playfully pinched my cheek like a
little kid. 'Oh, that is so cute and sweet of you, Liam.'

'Yeah well, it gets better. Eventually I
found out that the bitch was married, and it nearly broke my little
nine-year-old heart.'

Alex started laughing, almost choking in
the process.

'And from that point onwards I just
became such a little shit to her in class.'

Alex continued to smile and shook her
head.

'Always playing up. I stole her stapler
a few times then sneakily wrote rude words on her blackboard before she arrived
to class. I started throwing pens, paper, pencils at the other kids around
class or whatever I could find whenever she wasn't looking. I was pretty sneaky
like that.'

'Wow! What a little shit you were, Liam.
So what kind of rude words did you write on her blackboard?'

'Too rude to share with a cheeky Czech
tomboy like you.'

'I'm the cheeky one now.' She smiled. 'Hey,
can I ask, what is the difference between sneaky and cheeky?'

I chuckled as a crazy thought entered my
head.

'You don't know?'

'Well, I think I do, but I'm sure
everyone has different interpretations.'

I stood to my feet immediately and held
out my hand.

'What, what are you doing? More
dancing?'

'Come, stand up.'

Alex took my hand and I pulled her onto
her feet. We were standing close now, only a few inches apart.

'Okay. Now close your eyes.'

She gave me a suspicious glare and
grinned. 'No, I don't trust you, you might do something bad.'

'What like steel your camera.'

'Hmmm, that too.'

'Just close your eyes.'

'What are you going to do?'

'I'm going to show you the difference
between cheeky and sneaky.'

'Why don't you just tell me?'

'Because it's more fun this way,' I said
with a sly grin.

She paused in thought for a long moment
before letting out a deep sigh. Finally she closed her eyes.

'Okay! Then show me.'

The adrenaline surged through my veins.
I couldn't believe I was about to actually try this. I had no idea where this
mischievous playful thought had come from, but it was too late to stop it now,
I had acted in the moment, so I had to go through with it.

'Okay, so this is cheeky.'

I leaned in very close to Alex, almost
like I were going to kiss her gently upon her soft and delicious, lush red
lips, but instead, I lowered my hands down to her perky buttocks and gently
squeezed her bum. Alex let out a playful scream and slapped me on the shoulder.

'That was bad.' She giggled, although,
she didn't back away.

'Okay.' I smiled back. 'And now for
something sneaky.'

'Oh! That wasn't the sneaky thing.'

'Close your eyes.'

She did what I asked and closed her eyes
tight.

'Okay, now this is sneaky.'

This time I leaned in really slow, but
right up close towards her, my face and lips millimetres from her own. At the
same time I lifted my left hand and gently curved it around the bottom of her
face and neck and underneath her soft-flowing blonde hair. I softly kissed her
cherry lips. She never flinched in the slightest and even better, her small
pretty mouth moved in unison with mine. The act lasted for a good ten seconds
and just as I felt the tip of her tongue brushing against the top of my lip,
she gently pulled away. I opened my eyes to find Alex unleashing a radiant and
devilish smile.

'Well that was unexpected.'

All I could do
was smile back. I was glowing.

Author Bio -
Born in London to Scottish and Irish parents, Sean spent most of his
childhood and teenage years growing up on the move in the likes of
Cyprus, Germany, Wales and England as an army brat. With a keen
interest in both reading and writing he was diagnosed with the travel
and writing bugs very early on in life.

Now, writing, reading and traveling are his main passions in life, but
he also loves outdoor sports too from Rugby and Hiking to Tennis and
Boxing.

His main inspiration for writing today comes from living in such a
beautiful, Gothic, hauntingly, awe inspiring, dramatic and historical
city such as Edinburgh. This place has given Sean so much amazing
inspiration to write the more time he spends dwelling here with her.
And he challenges anyone with 'so called' writers block to take a walk
up and around the magical Carlton hill in Edinburgh's city center
sometime. (In any kind of weather too, which will usually be a windy
rain storm even in the heart of summer) Then just kick back, relax and
enjoy the majestically views of our glorious castle, Princes street
gardens, the bridges, the breathtaking and spectacular volcanic Munroe
'Arthur's seat', The river fourth, the Greek influenced national
monument on the very top of the hill (Which is where Edinburgh gets its
nickname 'Athens of the North' from.) And of course the view of the
fabulously Gothic monument of Sir Walter Scot, Scotland's greatest and
most famous ever writer to date.

At this moment he is writing another two books, one is about a young
man working in a dead end job and life who discovers that he has a
terminal illness so decides to withdraw all of his life savings from
the bank, go out into the world, and do all the things that he's always
dreamed of doing, but was restricted by the rules and regulations that
society feeds into us from birth.

The other book is about his recent four month awesome back packing
adventure through Eastern Europe last year, from Estonia to Sarajevo.

Spotlight: The Crimson Rope by Elyzabeth M. VaLey

Blurb: Unleash your kinky side with six titillating BDSM tales.

Let The Crimson Rope bind you in an erotic adventure sure to please, with skilled Dom’s and sexy submissives that are willing to explore their boundaries. From pleasured gasps to stinging desire, the authors of this anthology will not only seduce you, but leave you begging for more.

Excerpt from Elyzabeth's story in the anthology: Liberating LuaShe closed her eyes, silence in the chamber increasing her already frayed nerves. Butterflies twisted in her belly and soft flames licked her body warming it from the inside out, while her heart seemed set on escaping through her mouth. She was exposed as she’d never been before and the knowledge both horrified and aroused her. The minutes seemed to tick by slowly as she waited. Her courage began to fail.Suddenly, the door creaked open and closed. The hairs on the back of her neck stood as she heard the bolt slide into place. Heavy boots slapped against the floor, coming closer. Her chest tightened, her heart stilled. Her mouth went dry, her thoughts freezing as she waited. Was it he? She didn’t dare open her eyes, afraid to see anger or disappointment in her husband’s brown depths. What would she do if he sent her away? The sound of footsteps ceased, a looming presence took over her personal space. Lua chewed on her bottom lip.     “Open your eyes, Lua Mirabella.” Jürgen’s deep commanding timber rocked through her core. Slowly, she blinked and opened her eyes to meet Jürgen’s heated gaze. Her heart plummeted back to her chest, a new wave of butterflies fluttering inside her stomach. She had never seen him look at her like that. The muscle in his jaw ticked and his lips were set in a thin line. His nose flared as if sniffing her scent. His eyes, always a lovely brown were a shade darker. His gaze raw and dangerous. Emotions warred their way in their depths: lust and love.     “Jürgen,” she whispered his name, losing herself in his stare.      He said nothing, instead reaching for her breast, running his calloused fingertips against her nipple, causing it to pebble to a hard peak. Lua’s lips parted, breathing becoming difficult as he squeezed and kneaded the flesh. A moan escaped her and she looked away, self-conscious.     “Don’t.” Gently, Jürgen grasped her chin and forced her to look back at him.

Celia Kyle Alpha Marked Blog Tour

Celia Kyle Plays Favorites
Normally, I don’t play favorites with my characters and books.  Honestly, if you ask me which book is my favorite, the answer will be: what I’m working on now.
Except… Except the Wickham triplets in the Alpha Marked series do hold a special place in my heart.  They’re three curvy chicks who deal with what furry wolves throw at them and still manage to remain snarky, demanding, and absolutely gorgeous.
I think this excerpt from the final book is the perfect representation of the girls as a whole.  They chow on yummies, give as good as they get, and manage to hand over a bit of advice at the same time.  They’re sisters, and this tidbit really shows the love they share and blatant honesty that can only exist between siblings… and best friends who are willing to go to jail with you.
*****
BLURB
Thirty and single? Well, getcha ass to the Gathering!
Whitney Wickham is at the darned annual werewolf Gathering all right.  Only there’s one problem: she doesn’t belong there.  Her sisters carry the Mark indicating they’ll mate an Alpha Pair of wolves, while Whitney does not have that lovely, swirling scar.  She’s been hauled half way around the world to be stared at, and not-so-covertly sniffed, for no reason.  Unfortunately the gorgeous, drool worthy, magic-mojo-wielding Wardens don’t know why she’s been summoned to the Gathering any more than she does.  Which sucks. But at least they’re hot.
Emmett Greene and Levy Walters are Wardens—keepers of the law and embodiment of the magic of the werewolves.  They can never mate, never marry, and never form a lasting romantic relationship. It’s a hard and fast law that keeps their powers pure of outside influence.
Rules are going to be broken.
One look at Whitney, one hint of her scent, and they realize their immovable laws might have to jiggle. She’s got luscious curves, a wicked smile, and a mouth that would make a thousand men weep.  No matter the rules, their inner wolves will claim her. The only things standing in their way are the Elder Wardens who will do anything… anything… to keep Emmett and Levy from discovering the truth: the laws are wrong. And being with Whitney Wickham is so very, very right.
*****
EXCERPT
The interior looked much like Whitney’s room, the entryway leading into a massive living room and two bedrooms branched off from the main space. Following the trail of clothing that led to the room on the left, she soon slipped into the trio’s bedroom.
And way too much skin was exposed for her liking.
“Gabby,” she whispered. Nothing happened. “Gabs, wake up.” The damn woman slept like the dead.
Seeing a couple of socks nearby, she snared and balled them, slipping one inside the other. She hefted the light weight. It was just heavy enough to be thrown and hit her sister. Perfect. At least her time playing softball while her sisters studied wolf-land was good for something.
Taking aim, she tossed it at Gabby, smacking her right in the face.
“Wait, wha—” she snuffled. “No more. Tired.”
God, she didn’t even want to know why Gabs was exhausted. Probably for the opposite reason Whitney wasn’t tired. “Gabby. I need you.”
Her sister finally raised her head, hair sticking in all directions and squinting eyes met hers. “Huh?”
“Come on,” she waved her hand, gesturing for her sister to get outta bed.
Groaning, Gabby dropped her head back to the pillow and whispered into the room. “You so owe me. Breakfast. Lots. Coffee. More.”
“Done. Come on.”
Like a fluffy ninja, her sister wiggled and twisted her way from between her men, similar to what Whitney had done. Several tense seconds later, a very naked Gabriella was free of her sheet-prison. It wasn’t until her sister tumbled from the bed that she got an eyeful and Whitney whirled with a squeak. She loved her big sis, she just didn’t want to see all of her.
The shuffle of clothes signaled the woman was getting dressed and then they were ready to go. Nearly silent they crept up the stairs.
“Why are we sneaking away?” The whisper seemed like a scream.
Right, nearly silent.
“’Cause I said so.”
“That only works when you’re older than me.”
“Bite me.”
“That’s Emmett and Levy’s job.”
“I hate you.”
“You love me.”
God, normal. Normal felt so good.
By then, they’d reached the top of the stairs to find a glaring Scarlet staring at them.
Whitney smiled wide. “You’re awake.”
“Under protest. The guys had some stupid meeting thing this morning and wanted a quickie before they left. Apparently baby making is number one on their to-do list.” The eldest Wickham shuffled to the large couch and flopped onto the cushioned surface. “I think my vagina is going on strike.”
“TMI.”
“Tough.” Scarlet stuck out her tongue. “Why are you here?”
“To talk,” Whitney nibbled her lower lip.
“Come on then. Order me some breakfast and pull up a seat.”
A nearby guard stepped forward and Whitney didn’t even flinch. Crazy how, after two days, she’d already gotten used to the guards that surrounded her über important sister. She stared at the man, knowing he looked familiar. Well, more familiar than the others.
“Hello Sexy! You’re still alive!” She grinned.
Gabby nicked-named—or named depending how someone looked at it—the guard when she’d been going through the drama with her two mates the previous night. The guys had rejected her sister for some dumb reason. While Gabs had been trying to reaffirm her hotness, she hit on the guard. It’d been all fun and games until Gabriella’s mates threatened to rip the man’s head off.
The wolf blushed and tugged at the collar of his uniform. “Um, Tor, Miss Wickham. And breakfast has already been ordered. It should be arriving,” a low ding from Scarlet’s elevator flitted through the room. “Now.”
With that, the man disappeared and returned with a massive rolling cart topped with a half-dozen covered plates.
“Oh, I think I love you, Hello Sexy.” Scarlet’s words were immediately followed by a wince. “Never mind, I hate you with a passion unrivaled.” Ah, her mates had to be speaking with her telepathically. “There? Better now?” When no more grumbles from Scarlet came, Whitney figured things were good.
In moments, the Wickhams were settled and munching.
“So…” Scarlet nibbled on the only freaking cheese Danish in the whole pile of food. “I’m not seeing that well-fucked look and you’re moving a little too well for a woman who had two sets of wolfy chompers in her shoulder.”
“Yeah. We aren’t mating until ‘they’ve done some research.’” Whitney swung the air quotes, banana in one hand, squished muffin in the other. Well, brownie, but a muffin—even squished—qualified as breakfast more so than a brownie.
“No boinking? At all?” Gabby was horrified. “You three were on fire when we left. Did they even throw you a bone? Like an orgasm or ten as a consolation prize?”
Whitney shook her head. “Nope. They’re concerned about what would happen. Plus, I think they’re worried about Sarvis even though they said they’re not.”
Scarlet nodded. “Yeah, he’s evil with a capitol ass and lowercase hat.” She tilted her head to the side. “I’m actually surprised you got here. I mean, he shoulda been lying in wait to pounce and steal you away so he could kill you and solve his little problem.” She shrugged.
“Are you kidding?” Whitney hadn’t thought of that.
“Duh. He’s like the evil villain. With all that snarling and yelling about you being handled ‘permanently.’ Plus that whole abomination thing.” Gabby snorted. “Just don’t go into any basements. Or bleach your hair blonde. In the movies, it’s the dumb blondes who get killed first.” Her sister’s gaze fell to Whitney’s chest. “I’d say don’t get a boob job, but they’re already big. Yet another movie-inspired strike against you.” She sighed and shrugged. “Not much to be done about it now. I’m sure Emmett and Levy won’t let him kill you.”
“I just… But… I don’t know what to…” Whitney was sputtering, but there was so much disbelief and awe bouncing around that she couldn’t stop. She shoved her squished muffin into her mouth to keep the incoherent words at bay. Except even then, she managed to shout around the chocolate goodness. “You’re talking about me being killed like it’s nothing!”

Book Spotlight on Cheryl Headford's new release The Face in the Window

There are those who can't see and those who don't want to, but we're all blind sometimes.                       [image error] Ace is blind and Haze is damaged. They live in different worlds and not everyone is happy when they become boyfriends. Haze is struggling with the after effects of a traumatic event in his past that has left him at the mercy of an uncontrollable rage. When Ace’s brother steps up his campaign of torment against Ace, they’re all in danger from Haze’s outbursts, though it isn’t until things get completely out of control that the healing can really begin. But with Ace unseeing and Haze perched on the edge of a cliff, will either of them survive long enough to benefit?

Excerpt Two – Ninja
We had lunch in the same restaurant that we had the first time, and Nick was suitably impressed. Ace enthused about the menus, the food, how nice the waitresses were, and Nick watched him with a slightly bemused expression on his face. That was nothing though to the expression he wore when we went down onto the beach and I had Ace doing cartwheels again.“Bloody hell,” he murmured under his breath as we watched Ace’s wild abandon. I don’t think he was physically able to say any more. Ace literally took his breath away.“He’s full of surprises, isn’t he?”Nick nodded, unable to take his eyes away from his brother.Eventually Ace stopped and stood still, turning his face to the sea breeze, and simply waited, quietly.“What’s he doing now?”“Waiting.”“Waiting for what?”I couldn’t help a giggle. “For us, of course. He has no idea where he is now.”“Oh. I…I didn’t think. He must trust you a lot; just to stand and wait and not be scared.”“Ace is never scared. He’s the bravest person I know.”We were walking by then, and Nick fell silent. We hadn’t quite got to Ace when he said, “I wish I could see the sea.” There wasn’t any sadness in his voice, just a hint of wistfulness. “It feels so…big and wild.”“It is.” I slipped my arm around his waist, and he rested his head on my shoulder.“Mister… Mister…” At the sound of the breathless but excited voices, we turned and I saw two boys, about eleven years old, racing across the beach toward us.“That was awesome,” one of them gasped as they skidded to a halt. “Can you do it again? Can you teach us?”“How did you do it? Are you an acrobat?”“Or a ninja?”Ace laughed and shook his head; he frowned thoughtfully. “I don’t know how I do it, not really. It just feels…right. I don’t know if I could teach anyone, because I don’t know what I do myself.”“Aww, but we really want to learn.” His voice was so earnest that Nick and I exchanged glances and stifled giggles.“Please, Mister, just tell us what you do.”“I just… You need to find something inside that really wants to come out, that needs to be free, and then you just throw yourself at it and it takes you over.“I learned how to trust my body and the space around me at school. We do a lot of martial arts and most of the flipping and stuff are just part of the moves.”One of the boys turned to the other and said, “See? I told you he was a ninja.”“Ninjas,” said the other one, “wear black and don’t look like that. He’s all white with funny eyes.” His eyes widened, and his face got an excited expression. “Maybe he’s from one of those secret organisations, like the White Dragons or something, like we saw in that film. Maybe he’s an assassin.”“WOW, Mister. Are you really? Are you? Are you a secret assassin?”The other boy hit him in the shoulder so hard he almost fell over. “If it’s a secret, he’s not going to tell you about it, is he?”“Oh. Sorry, Mister.” He was subdued for a moment, with downcast eyes, scuffing the sand. Then he brightened up and with a sly expression on his face. “But are you? Are you really? I mean you can trust us, because we’re only kids so you know we’re not like…like from a rival gang or something.”His friend rolled his eyes and sighed. “Sorry. He’s a bit thick. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with us.” Ace was grinning as the boy dragged his friend away.“Hehe, one day I’m an angel and the next a secret ninja assassin. Nice. I wonder what I’ll be tomorrow.”I hugged him close. “Mine,” I said, and he giggled.

Bio  [image error]
Cheryl was born into a poor mining family in the South Wales Valleys. Until she was 16, the toilet was at the bottom of the garden and the bath hung on the wall. Her refrigerator was a stone slab in the pantry and there was a black lead fireplace in the kitchen. They look lovely in a museum but aren’t so much fun to clean. Cheryl has always been a storyteller. As a child, she’d make up stories for her nieces, nephews and cousin and they’d explore the imaginary worlds she created, in play. Later in life, Cheryl became the storyteller for a re enactment group who traveled widely, giving a taste of life in the Iron Age. As well as having an opportunity to run around hitting people with a sword, she had an opportunity to tell stories of all kinds, sometimes of her own making, to all kinds of people. The criticism was sometimes harsh, especially from the children, but the reward enormous. It was here she began to appreciate the power of stories and the primal need to hear them. In ancient times, the wandering bard was the only source of news, and the storyteller the heart of the village, keeping the lore and the magic alive. Although much of the magic has been lost, the stories still provide a link to the part of us that still wants to believe that it’s still there, somewhere. In present times, Cheryl lives in a terraced house in the valleys with her son and her two cats. Her daughter has deserted her for the big city, but they’re still close. The part of her that needs to earn money is a lawyer, but the deepest, and most important part of her is a storyteller and artist, and always will be.

Goodreads Blurb:
*Drowning is a New Adult Contemporary Romance suited for 18+ due to some violence, language, and sexual content*

"I dare you."

Those words would change adrenaline junkie, Alice Harrison's life forever. She's a party girl that doesn't believe in love until she meets a man that only writes about it.

Seth James escaped his overbearing father and moved into one of the James family's vacant condos, hoping to create the music he loves in peace. But the fragile calm he's envisioned shatters when a tiny woman with a world full of energy bounces out of the elevator and nearly takes him out.

With the patience of a saint, Seth seeks the dark that keeps Alice from enjoying life. He challenges her to exorcise the demons in her past in order to discover the true meaning of love. But when the walls fall down, the hidden deceptions will bare the ugly truth about a woman drowning in sorrow and a man who may not know how to be her hero.
My Review:
Another awesome read by Rachel Firasek! Drowning is a highly addictive story that gives it to you straight and real. A very intense, emotional, gripping and sensual read that any fans of the genre will enjoy!

Alice LOVES a good rush! Hopping off cliffs, making out with boys, anything that gets her heart pumping overdrive will do. She loves to feel…in control and alive. To lose herself to anything other than what she truly lives with.

Seth’s one main focus in his life is his music. He has no time for games, relationships or anything that proves to be a distraction. That’s why when he finds these…feelings he has for his new neighbor as something new and a distraction. He’ll do what he can to avoid her and his feelings (love this guy!)

This was my second time reading anything by this author and I once again find myself wanting much more!

Marcus pulled off the road onto a barren patch of gravel and killed the engine.  Jak tugged off her helmet and leaned forward.  "What are we doing?""Reconnoitering."  He pointed at a squat, nondescript building half a block down the street.  "That's the Vagos clubhouse.  I have someone meeting us there.  A confidential informant from when I was back on the force."  He paused.  "He'll talk us in.  The rest is up to us."Jak shook the tightness out of her legs.  "Why is he helping?""He owes me a favor.  Let's just leave it at that."  Marcus swung off the bike and opened one of the studded saddlebags.  He pulled out a black leather vest and tossed it to Jak.She turned it over, traced a finger over the lettering on the back.  "What's this?""A property patch."She looked at him blankly."To show the others you belong to me."Her eyes hardened.  "I'm not wearing that."Marcus sighed.  "Listen, it'll be safer if you-""Fuck 'safer'.  I told you, I'm not wearing it.  I mean, Jesus, why don't you just brand me and get it over with?"A tic started in his jaw.  "Damn it, I agreed to help you.  But my first job is to keep you safe, so if we do this, we're doing it my way." His voice dropped.  "The one-percenters aren't exactly known for being kind to women.  Now shut up, and put on the fucking patch."Jak glared at him.  He glared back.  Finally, she snatched the vest and yanked it on over her jacket.  He nodded.  "Now get off."Her eyes popped.  "What?  Why?  What are we-"Marcus sat down and patted the seat in front of him.  "Might as well make an entrance."Jak shifted.  "How do I...?"He took her wrist and drew her forward.  "Like this."  He turned her so she was facing him.  "Sit down."Jak straddled the bike.  Her cheeks heated.  Marcus shifted.  "Now scoot forward."She stared.  "You've got to be kidding."He snaked a hand around her waist.  She felt it straight to her core.  His hand slid lower.  Before she could react, he hauled her flush against him.Jak couldn't breathe.  Every nerve ending was painfully, electrically aware of how close they were.  Of him.  She stared at the cars on the street, at the chipped facade of the taco truck, at the faded traffic lines in the pavement.  Anything to avoid his eyes."Hey."She didn't look at him.  "Yeah?"He set his thumb under her chin and forced her to meet his gaze.  "They have to think you're with me.  Can you sell it?"Jak nodded stiffly.  "I can sell it."Marcus studied her for a moment.  She willed herself not to look away.  Just when she was ready to fidget, he kissed her.She jolted.  His lips were coaxing, but firm.  One hand settled at the nape of her neck, held her still for him to sample as he wished.  His teeth grazed her lower lip.  Jak groaned, and let herself sink a little deeper.A sound of approval rumbled through him.  He teased his tongue against hers.  Something inside her quaked.  An unfamiliar need throbbed deep inside her.  She shifted closer, unsure what she wanted, only aware it was growing increasingly urgent.  She explored the harsh line of his jaw with her fingers, fascinated at the flex of muscles and tendons just under his skin.He stilled, and she looked down.  Her hips had been grinding against an unmistakable bulge in his pants.  Abruptly, he pulled back.Jak stared up at him, the sudden loss of heat jarring.  His breath sounded shallow.  Every plane of his face was stark, cold.  She must have paled, because his expression softened.  He brushed a stray curl out of her eyes.  "Yeah."  His voice was raspy.  "You can sell it."

Entangled Cover Reveal by SE Hall

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]
add-to-goodreads-button31
Synopsis:Things heat up, and not just the Georgia summertime, when Dane and Laney go head to head over plans for her new duplex. But Laney's got his number, and knows just how to coerce her bossy, domineering man. Spend the summer with the gang and find out...just how many is a crowd? The members of the Evolve Crew are getting older; so is the content. Mature audiences recommended.    Teaser “Men shouldn’t know how to decorate anyway, using words like gaudy.” I let one brow raise and give him a suspicious smirk. “Do I need to learn how to fix the cars then? What if I get a flat?” “Oh baby,” he growls, his feet pounding the floor as he stalks toward me, “you questioning my manliness?” “Maybe,” I tease, slowing backing up. “Nancy.” My eyes dart anxiously around the room, mentally planning my escape route in this new territory. He laughs deeply, not a ‘ha ha that’s funny’ laugh, but more an ‘uh huh I’m coming to get ya’ sexy laugh. “Got it planned yet?” He grins knowingly, one eyebrow cocked. “Better run to wherever looks the most comfortable.” There’s no furniture yet, what is he talking about comfortable? Seeing the confusion on my face, he answers unasked. “Showing you how much of a man I am when I catch ya,” he creeps closer, “so I’d stay away from the tile, might hurt your back,” the mischief in his eyes ignites as he continues moving slowly closer, “or your knees.” Do I still have to pretend I don’t want to be caught? I love this side of Dane; the dominant, controlling, hunter than comes out more and more every day. The game’s precept itself is laughable; no one could question Dane’s virility. It seeps from his pores, an aura around him taking up all the air in a room. And he’s all mine. From his forever jostled brown locks and matching warm eyes, cocky lopsided grin and sculpted chest all the way to his eight back, that irresistible v and toned, tight ass- he is mine. “You wouldn’t!” I challenge, knowingly delightfully well that he would. “Oh baby, you know I can and will.” He flips open the button on his pants, that cocky grin suffocating me from where he stands, “I think you want me to.”

#WedBriefs Flash Fiction Halloween is but once a year by A.R. Von

Happy Hump Day and welcome to Wednesday Briefs Flash Fiction! As always, I was given various options to inspire this weeks brief. I chose to go with the  4 photos below and the following word prompts: "Did you really think that would scare me?", "Suck on that, big boy!", feature a haunted house or a vampire.

Once a year, every year for the last two centuries my sister and I have the time of our lives. Being who we are, our true forms free and accepted. Vampires still remain hidden, unknown to humans. We’ve both learned to take the celebration as a great advantage and always have fun with it.

“Isla, make haste woman! I want to enjoy every single moment of this night. I swear the parties get better and better every year.” I check my watch for the thousandth time, huff out an impatient breath and begin my pacing once more. I hear her moving around upstairs at a leisurely pace and it’s driving me bat shit crazy!

The house has gone silent. I know what’s to come. My darling sister always tries to best me on this night, the celebration of All Hallows Eve. She’s yet to succeed, but it’s a tradition of hers and I don’t think she even realizes it.

Bracing myself mentally for her antics, I resume my pacing at a less frantic pace. I feel a slight breeze to my left but ignore it. I know it’s just Isla using her powers and making herself invisible. I do a full circle of the room and suddenly come face to face with a bloody appendage. I open my mouth to speak, but said bloody appendage is popped right into my mouth.

“Suck on that, big boy!”

I pull the offending thing from my mouth. Spit and sputter. I have to give her points for originality. She must have thought about this the entire year! “Seriously Isla, did you really think that would scare me?”
Then, I go into hysterical laughter. [image error] She reappears with such a funny looking sad face for someone her age that I can’t help myself. She lets out a harrumph and stomps towards the front closet. “You’re no fun Thomas you—you meanie! Come on. Let’s go find a party to crash. I can’t wait to see the costumes this year. I think next year, I’m going to actually dress up as a troll or a playboy bunny. Yea, something sexy would be great!”

I shake my head at her. Through the years, she’s never stated anything about dressing up as something…else. She won’t get any encouragement from me. “Whatever you say dear sister. Let’s just get to where ever it is we’re going and have some fun!”

“Yes, let’s brother.”

[image error] Twenty minutes later, we arrive at a ‘haunted house’ located on farmland. It’s supposedly holding a rave sometime within the next couple of hours. It’s smartly decorated with large spiders on webbing, real black cats slinking around and jack-o-lantern’s carved to perfection. The ghoulish decorations seem to be spread out everywhere.

“Oh, my! This is just fantastic Thomas. Let’s go inside and mingle. I hope there will be lots of music and dancing. I want to get jiggy with a techno beat!”

I snicker at my sister’s mingled use of slang. I don’t think she’ll ever get the hand of it. But it just adds to her free spirit and fun ways.

The evening flies by in a blur of frights and fun. My sister and I go our separate ways to fully enjoy ourselves during the festivities. I play the games, bobbing for apples, which I’m great at because of my fangs, pin the wart on the witch and quite a few drinking games that I’ve never heard of before. But was happy to have indulged in with the other party-goers.

My sister kept dancing and going through the mazes over and over again. We both had a great time. It really is a shame this is only a once a year occasion. But sadly, all good things must come to an end. Or do they?...[image error]

The Will to Love Cover Reveal by Selene Chardou

The Will to Love Cover add-to-goodreads-button31 Synopsis“I wasn’t looking for love, only a good time and a way to tour the world with a rock band when he came along and hit me like a hurricane. Nothing could have prepared for me for the complexity that was Will Cullen. He hid a secret that would devour me whole and spit me out. The only problem I had was how did I let go when I decided to give my heart to the very man I would never be able to control and who would always be just beyond my reach?” – Laurel MunsenWill Cullen has always been comfortable in his own skin, even it was behind the scenes as the bass player for Scarlet Fever. He’s always known he was gay and accepted his sexuality even if he couldn’t be out and proud as a member of one of the most popular rock bands in the world. Laurel was supposed to be a diversion, a beard to hide behind while he and his lover, drummer Grant MacMullen, continued their hot and heavy relationship. Grant breaks his heart and admits there can never be a future between them. It is Laurel who picks up the pieces and although he knows what they have together is wrong and conforming to society’s standards of what love supposed to be, how can he rectify his strong attraction and desire for men while he is falling in love with a woman? Both Laurel and Will learn the fluidity of human emotions and together, they gather the strength and courage to live life, understand each other and love with heart, body, mind and soul. Note: This story is about a homosexual man who happens to fall in love with a heterosexual woman but it does not negate his homosexual status nor is the author implying sexuality is a choice; rather that most of the time, we don’t and cannot choose the person we fall in love with and decide to give our heart and soul.
Excerpt

Will walked outside and knelt before me. “Fuck. What the hell did I do now?”“Nothing,” I said before I turned to look at the pool and swallowed, the harsh bitterness of the Xanax pill still left in my mouth. “I realize everything that has happened between us is on me. Grant always came first and I was a distant second but now that he’s gone, I truly wonder if there is any room past that empty spot he’s left inside of you for me? We don’t choose who we fall in love with and God knows if I could take my feelings back for you, I would.”I paused and stared into those vast pools of blue. “But I can’t and I won’t. Now, the onus is on you. Do you or don’t you want to be with me? If you can’t, I truly understand because it just isn’t the way you’re hardwired. We were never supposed to be in the first place. However, if you do want me, then it has to be just you and I. No one else and certainly no one night stands or interlopers. I have to know I can trust you or we won’t work out. Do you understand that?”He nodded, his silky blond hair blowing in the soft breeze. “Of course I want to be with you or I wouldn’t have said no to coming out and I sure as hell wouldn’t have invited you to Vegas. If this works out and we sign this contract, this affects your life just as much as it does mine. I can understand if what we have isn’t important enough for you to uproot your life and change everything just to be with me.”“Oh, but it is…and my question to you is can you make that sacrifice because no matter how you look at our situation, you are doing something that is against your very nature. You’re denying a part of yourself to be with me and I can’t help but feel like I am the most selfish bitch in the world for making you do that.”“Listen to me,” Will said as he grabbed my jaw with both hands and held my face softly. “I’m not doing anything I don’t want to do. If you’ll have me then I’m yours. It’s as simple as that.”I nodded and we kissed each other on the lips before I embraced him. I couldn’t understand why I was holding on so tight and then it hit me like a wrecking ball. I was scared if I didn’t hold him like he was the only man in the world, he might disappear and leave me all alone with my emotions and the thought was too much to bear.
