Guest post with author of Objects in the Rearview Mirror, F.E. Feeley Jr

A.R. What inspired you to write Objects in the Rearview Mirror? It's definitely different and I’m sure readers would love to know the answer to that

F.E. Well my husband and I were driving home from the beach, we live in the gulf coast, and the song came on the radio....and I had been dying for a new idea for awhile. John had suggested I write about a writer and bam...it hit me.

Blurb:
Memoirs of the Human Wraiths

Their new home on Frederick Street in Clay Center, Kansas, was supposed to give writer Jonathan David and his husband, clinical psychologist Dr. Eddie Dorman, an opportunity to enjoy married life. Jonathan has just released his first major bestseller, and he hopes to finally escape his traumatic past and find the quiet existence he has always craved. Eddie has taken a job at the Kansas State University psychology department, and they intend to begin anew.

They have barely settled in when the nightmare begins. Noises, disembodied voices, and mysterious apparitions make Jonathan’s life hell. Part of the house has decided to bare its teeth, show its jagged edges, and bring back the worst of Jonathan’s past. At first, Eddie cannot perceive the spectral events and fears for his husband’s sanity. When he’s also affected by the haunting, he’s unsure of what to do but refuses to be beaten.

Together, they seek a way to fight the forces trying to tear them apart. The world is a frightening place, but confronting their fears plunges Jonathan and Eddie into absolute horror.

BIO
F.E. Feeley Jr was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and lived there for twenty years before joining the military. He is a veteran of the US Armed Services; having done a tour in support of Operation Iraq Freedom in 2002-2003, he turned college student, pursuing a degree in political science. He now lives in Southeast Texas where he is married to the love of his life, John, and where they raise their 1½ year old German shepherd, Kaiser.

As a young man, reading took center stage in his life, especially those novels about ghosts, witches, goblins, and all the other things that went bump in the night. His favorite authors include such writers as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Anne Rice, whose work allowed him to travel to far off places and meet fascinating and scary characters. As a gay man, he wishes to be able to write good fictional literature for those who love the genre and to write characters that readers can relate to. All in all, he is a cigarette smokin', whiskey drinkin', rock and roll lovin', tattoo wearin' dreamer of a man with a wonderful husband who puts up with his crap and lets him write his stories.

My Lady, so perfect and pale, with such beauty and grace is a sensual goddess to be worshipped and treasured. She is the treasure that I yearn to have as mine and I focus now solely on the change. I am not sure how much time passes when my power suddenly snaps back into me. I grind my teeth to keep from grunting from the impact. Surprised that Than has not sensed my power on the move, either that, or he has not shown me that he knows. I am also very pleased that he is so consumed with his search, that he does not realize what I have done. “Mmm...” Both Than and myself turn toward the feminine sound. I feel my eyes widen in surprise, but I quickly conceal it. It worked, from what I am able to see of her. I can only see her face and the pale upper flesh of her breasts. What lovely breasts they are. I feel my mouth water for a taste of her creamy globes, and my hands itch to feel their weight. The woman from my dreams kneels, nude within the heather, looking disoriented. Her hair is a tangled mess, partially covering her face. She does not seem to be able rise and stand solidly. Gravity currently appears to be her enemy. Observing her, I feel as if I am floating. Light and filled with air, like one of my Uncle’s magic bubbles when it floats up toward the sun. Higher and higher, drifting into bliss, and I find myself smiling. She glances up, sees me, and her mouth forms an ‘O’ of surprise. Her breathing becomes slightly erratic. It looks as if she is unable to catch a proper breath. I find myself moving toward her as though being pulled by some unknown force, completely captivated by the sight before me and unable to resist its call. Now, we only have eyes for each other. I feel everything else around us disappear. It is now just her and I, caught in a spell woven of lust and intense longing. I am lost within the depths of her soul-filled, pleading eyes. I move closer to answer their call when an annoying buzzing sound pulls me from the spell.

Make My Heartbeat (Shameful Regret #2) by Liz King Blog Tour & Review

Synopsis
Before Lynae, my heart was just sitting lifeless in my chest. I wasn't living. I've hidden away the shame and the regret for so long, that I never thought anyone could break through. She did that, and so much more.
I need Lynae more than I need air to breathe. She is everything to me. The night Lynae walked into my life, I knew that I would never be the same. My heart started to feel again.
Now that I've pushed her away, the walls that I had built stand to destroy us. I have to get her back. I can't live without her.
She is the one thing in this world that can make my heart beat. Buy Now MMHB EBOOK1 Amazon Amazon CA Amazon UK B&N Kobo add-to-goodreads-button31

Excerpt
My mind is swirling with memories of last night. She came. She actually came here to see me. She let me hold her, touch her, kiss her, claim her. Lynae’s sweet scent assaults my senses. I need to feel her against my body. I reach out to find her, but my hand only lands on cold empty sheets. My eyes pop open, completely awake now.
“Lynae?” I call out.
I sit up in my bed. My empty bed. Looking around the room, I don’t see her, and her pants that I know were tossed on the floor next to mine are gone. Sunlight is filtering in through the blinds. I glance at the clock, noticing it's after nine in the morning. Maybe she's in the kitchen. I know how she likes her coffee first thing in the morning. Please, dear God, let her be in the fucking kitchen.
I toss my legs over the side of the bed and grab my shorts off the floor. Standing up, I stretch my arms over my head and make my way out into the living room. I don’t even have to look around to know she’s not here. I can’t feel her presence. I can always sense her. Instead of finding the one thing in this world that makes my life worth living, I find the one thing that I want to pummel into the ground, sitting on my couch.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” I growl.
Seth stands up. He looks like absolute shit, like he’s been sitting there all fucking night. “Listen, dude, I’m really sorry about everything.” Seth is holding is hands up. “But I need to ask you something.”
Lynae must have gotten up, seen asshat sitting here and left. She was obviously pissed at him yesterday, since she apparently ran away from him crying, according to Wade. This gives me even more reason to want to kick Seth’s ass the hell out of my apartment, garage and life. “I don’t have time for this shit. Get out.”

Teaser (1)

Make My Heart Beat is a great continuation to the Shameful Regret series. This one gives us even more Connor (which I love) and continues to be an emotional read. It's NOT to be read as a standalone. You need to read In A Heart Beat first to get a true understanding and appreciation of what's going on.Lynae learns what Connor has been hiding, plus a couple of other well kept secrets from him and their friends. Healing is done, a lot of it and many more new relationships lead into beautiful things.A great HEA for these two! I'm happy to have gotten to experience such an emotional journey and look forward to this authors future works.

Talk to the Moon
Summary
When Kyle Chase was eighteen, he had his life all mapped out: a business degree and a long, happy life with his childhood sweetheart. Seven years later, Kyle is still haunted by the girl who declared her everlasting love to him before disappearing without a word as soon as he left for college. With the realization that the memories are stopping him from living his life, Kyle posts an ad in hopes of making contact with the woman who broke his heart.
Sadie Long has finally found her niche in the world as an artist, years after leaving the South and her trailer-trash parents. Every month, her muse drives Sadie to create another artwork featuring a vivid full moon and the boy she left behind, and it's driving her crazy. When she comes across an ad in Craigslist’s “Missed Connections,” she knows it’s from him, and even though she’s terrified of how he might feel about what she did when they were teenagers, she has no choice but to respond to the ad.
When the truth comes out, will Kyle be able to forgive Sadie and move forward, or will they always be stuck in the past?
Excerpt

Chapter One
Kyle Chase tossed his empty beer bottle into the recycle bin on the way to grab another from the fridge, then ambled his way back outside into the night. He stretched out on the soft lounge chair and twisted the cap off his beer, taking a long pull. Because he kept the lights off on the patio, since he preferred the intimacy of the darkness, his eyes were immediately drawn to the night sky. The full moon hung low on the horizon making it appear larger than normal, and it glowed a dull orange thanks to the city’s pollution. Nothing obstructed his view of it. His house sat on a mountain at the southern end of the San Fernando Valley, just north of Los Angeles, and it was elevated above most other homes and the surrounding area. It had been the feature that sealed the deal on his purchasing the house with money from his inheritance, but on nights like these it was also a curse. Any time the moon was full, and he wasn’t distracted with work, he sat out here. Alone. Usually drinking. The damned thing always reminded Kyle of her. And even though he hated the reminder, he couldn’t help himself and was constantly tortured by the sight of it anyway. Disgusted with his line of thinking, he gulped from his beer bottle again, but didn’t move away. The stillness of the night was disturbed by the sound of the patio door opening behind him. “Hey, Chase, what’s happening?” Nathan, his roommate, asked from the doorway. “Ah, never mind. Need a refill?” “Sure,” Kyle mumbled. He heard the door close and then open again. Nathan handed over the beer before he plopped down in the chair next to Kyle’s. Both men sat in silence for a moment drinking their beers while Kyle stared at the moon and tried not to think about the past. “Still nothing?” Nathan asked. “Why do you continue to ask me that?” Kyle snapped at his best friend. “Well, since you found out she lives in this state, I figured that maybe she might have found out you live here too.” Even though Nathan was only trying to help, Kyle didn’t care where she lived. She’d known where he was when he went away to school and never bothered to contact him, so why would it matter now. He just wondered if she thought of him as he did her. He’d recently found out she lived in San Francisco from his dad, who had bumped into one of her cousins. Growing up in a small town outside Savannah, Georgia, it wasn’t uncommon to bump into someone, who knew someone, who was related to someone else. Her cousin had mentioned she lived in the Bay Area “trying to be a painter” or something. It didn’t surprise Kyle that her family was so flippant. They had no idea how talented she really was. Kyle still remembered her doodling in notebook after notebook. She’d draw anything and everything, using pencils or pens. Sometimes she’d paint or even use crayons. She said she liked the way the wax glided across the paper. They were teenagers then. Now as an adult, she was apparently trying to make a living out of something she loved. Kyle admired her . . . even as he hated her for leaving him. Well, he tried to hate her.“Look, I doubt she even knows I’m alive, let alone living in the same state she does. She probably assumes I stayed in Miami after school or even moved back home to Georgia to be an accountant. If she wanted to find me, all she had to do was call my parents,” Kyle said with a sigh. He felt so boring compared to her. Kyle had always believed he was dark shadows while she was a mesmerizing rainbow glistening after a spring shower. “Well, you’d think someone would’ve told her you live in the City of Angels . . . with your incredibly handsome and talented friend as he realizes his dream of becoming an actor,” Nathan said with such dramatics it made Kyle toss his bottle cap at him. “You’re an ass is what you are. One commercial doesn’t make you anything special.” “The hell you say! I’m well on my way to an Oscar!” Nathan shook his finger at Kyle. “Go away. I want to wallow in my beer alone for a bit still.” “Fine, but maybe you should reach out to her. Look for her on Facebook or some other crap like that. I mean it’s been what? Seven years now, and you still sulk every month like a lovesick teenager.” Kyle shot an irritated glare at Nathan. “You’re twenty-five, yet you never keep a steady girlfriend, and I’ve known you since college. What’s the worst that can happen by reaching out?” Nathan asked as he stood and took Kyle’s empty bottle from him. Kyle sighed. He had heard it all before, so he simply grumbled his thanks and looked up at the moon again, barely noticing that Nathan had returned inside. Maybe Nathan was right; maybe he should search for her. It was becoming more obvious to him that something might be broken within him. Every woman he’d ever dated had always been compared to Sadie. How fair was that to him or to the women? Why did he continue to hold her up on a pedestal when she’d left him like she had? He needed to move on, and deep down he wanted to, but every month that damned moon showed up and reminded him of what he lost. Even tonight’s moon took him back to the most important time they’d spent together. He’d never forget the night he took Sadie to the lake near his house that late spring so many years ago. The flowers had just bloomed and the evening was still too chilly for the critters to come out. They had spread a blanket on the grassy shore and cuddled together on it before covering up with another. Kyle could still remember their conversation like it was yesterday.

 Moon over the Bay
Summary
Nathan Wolfe is gorgeous, and your typical surfer guy with blond hair, blue eyes, and tanned muscle.  Looks like that should help him chase his dream of becoming an actor, but he’s had nothing but failed auditions for months. After confiding in his best friend that he’s been feeling a little lost, Kyle invites him to San Francisco where he’s been spending time with his girlfriend, Sadie. Nathan jumps at the chance in the hope that a change in scenery will lift his mood.
Jess Dempsey comes from a rich and influential family, and does have a liking for the finer things in life . . . like designer shoes and handbags. But she’s not your typical heiress to a fortune—she prefers to put her art history degree to work. Much to her parents’ dismay, Jess runs a successful business as an art agent, instead of taking her place in the family business. When her best friend, and most successful client, Sadie, asks a favor, Jess finds herself face to face with Nathan, and it's lust at first sight.
But Nathan won't be anyone's playboy, he’s been there done that, and Jess has learned her lesson the hard way when it comes to pretty faces and their love of her wallet.

Excerpt
Chapter One
Nathan Wolfe dropped into the seat of his Mustang, throwing his messenger bag next to him. Another casting call, another waste of time. He was so sick of hearing the same things: you’re too tall, you’re too blond, you’re too all-American, you’re not dark enough, you’re not manly enough. He snorted. He could show those annoying casting agents a thing or two about manly. Didn’t matter anyway, Nathan would never see those people again. He was over this whole cattle-call audition process. He was starting to think he was over the whole acting thing. He gassed it as he backed out of the parking space at the production offices in Burbank and roared toward home. Located on a mountain overlooking the San Fernando Valley, just north of L.A., it was Nathan’s favorite place. He shared the house with his best friend from college. Lately, though, it felt like he lived alone. Kyle spent all his time in San Francisco these days to be with the love of his life. After pulling into the driveway, he was surprised to see Kyle’s Audi in the garage. Nathan smiled. Maybe a few beers with his friend would make the day better. He climbed out of the car and walked in the side door. Kyle was sitting at the kitchen island using his phone. He was wearing a goofy grin, which of course meant he must be texting with his girlfriend.“Hey, man, nice to see you home for a change,” Nathan teased as he sat his bag down.“Hey, bro, how’s it going? Audition today?” Kyle asked, standing to give Nathan a welcoming hug. Something Nathan would never ever admit he needed.“Yeah, it was crap though. Same shit as always. I’m too ‘whatever’ for the role. Today I was too ‘surfer.’ I’m kind of over it.” Nathan rolled his eyes before heading to the fridge.“Ah man, that sucks. I’m sorry,” Kyle said absentmindedly as he went to sort through the mail.“Eh, I’ll survive. Besides I’m almost too busy for auditions anyway. I’ve been buried with graphic-design work for a huge company website and some other marketing stuff that I almost forgot to do today.” Nathan twisted the cap off his beer and took a drink. “To be honest, I think I’m going to take a break from acting.” Nathan sighed. Kyle looked up from the mail and stared in shock.“What? Why? I mean I know it’s been a while since you’ve had a job, but I know you’re going to land something awesome soon,” Kyle offered.Nathan was always touched at the unwavering support Kyle gave him. They’d moved to Los Angeles after college because Nathan wanted to be an actor, and Kyle thought he could do it. Now years later, Nathan had nothing really to show for the few gigs he’d landed except his Mustang he bought with his first big check.“Thanks man, I appreciate it. It’s been a rough couple of weeks and with you not here . . .” Nathan trailed off, shrugging. He really hated to sound needy, but Kyle and his dad were all the family Nathan had. Sure they texted all the time, but it wasn’t the same as when he and Kyle sat in the backyard and watched the sun go down. His auditions were getting to him lately; he’d even quit the dumb valet job he’d been suffering through, because hoping to get noticed by a casting agent wasn’t panning out anyway. He’d been spending more time on his graphic design business while he re-evaluated his life.“I know . . . and I’m sorry for not being around, and now I’m packing up to head back up there tomorrow. I only came back to go into the office for some face to face meetings today,” Kyle said. Nathan fought the disappointment that flooded him. Another weekend in the house, alone.“Hey, why don’t you come with me this weekend? I’ve got to come back for a big client meeting on Monday, so I’m not going to stay long. I even have somewhere you can stay,” Kyle said with hope in his features.

Luthier's Apprentice Blog Tour

Benefits & Rewards of Reviewing for Aspiring and Experienced Authorsby Mayra Calvani

If you’re an author or your goal is to become one, the benefits of book reviewing are enormous. If you already review books, you know how true this is.

When you review books…

1.You learn about the craft of writing because you get to identify both the weaknesses and strengths of a book. You learn what works and what doesn’t, and eventually you become more apt in avoiding amateurish mistakes when you write your own books. You can do this because you’re able to look at someone else’s book objectively, something that it’s hard to do with your own writing. In this sense, reviewing can make you a better writer and a better judge of literature. This comes very handy if you belong to a critique group or serve as judge at contests.

2. Your writing becomes easier and better. Reviewing is writing, after all, and the more you write, the better it gets. Reviewing helps to hone your skills as a word builder.

3. Your thinking skills become sharper because you have to ponder and reflect on why you liked or disliked a book. This sometimes takes keen perception.

4. You become familiar with publishers and the type of books they publish. This is especially helpful if you review in the genre that you write in and if you’re looking for places to submit your work.

5. You become familiar with agents and the type of books they like to represent. How do you know this? Most authors thank their agents in the acknowledgements page.

6. You network with other authors who in the future might help you promote your book. Authors are very thankful to reviewers for taking the time to review their books, especially if the reviews are positive.

7. You develop an online presence, a platform. If you have an attractive blog where you post honest, intelligently written reviews, eventually you’ll build a good reputation as a serious reviewer and readers, publishers, authors and publicists will want to become your followers. Having lots of followers will instantly make you more attractive in the eyes of a publisher when you submit your book for consideration.

8. You develop an identity as an expert, especially if you review in the same genre you write in. For example, if you review only young adult novels, and you write reviews often enough, soon you’ll acquire a thorough knowledge of the genre and what’s new out there, and your reviews will become more insightful because you’ll be able to compare works by different authors who write in the same genre. It’s difficult to become an expert in all genres, but this is doable in one genre if you’re dedicated enough.

9. You may land a contract with a publisher. This happened to one of the reviewers at one of the sites I review for. Her reviews were so well and thoughtfully written, they caught the eye of a publisher. They asked if by any chance she had a manuscript around. Well, she did and the publisher ended up offering her a contract!

10. You can build yourself a pretty nice library if you’re one of those reviewers who read and review quickly. I know some reviewers who review several books a week.

11. You’ll discover authors you didn’t even know existed. Review blogs are especially attractive to small press authors and publishers because they usually have trouble getting reviewed by the big publications.

12. You build relationships with publicists who work at major publishing houses. Once they’ve come to trust you as a serious reviewer, you can request those books you’re most interested in.

13. You get to feed your addiction—for free!

14. You can build a resume with publishing credits. They will come very handy when you start sending out those queries to agents and publishers.

15. You can eventually get paid by submitting your reviews to those sites and publications that pay their contributors.

What about the downside of reviewing? Is there one?

For me, at times it has gotten to the point where it has become overwhelming and I’ve had to put aside my own writing in order to keep up with it. It’s important not to get carried away and request more books than we can realistically handle. So, if you’re an author, reviewing can take time away from your own writing and it can give you stress. And when reviewing becomes a chore, it isn’t fun anymore. It becomes a job for which you’re not being paid for (unless, obviously, you’re being monetarily compensated by a publication).

Also, it doesn’t pay well. Take it from James A. Cox, Editor-in-Chief of Midwest Book Review. He states that “the only way to make money as a reviewer is to marry rich!”

About Ashlynne Laynne Ashlynne Laynne is a songwriter, poet and author of erotic paranormal and contemporary romance, who has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun-loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny.
She loves writing on the edge—combining the erotica and romance genres—and thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the wicked, damned version of Romeo and Juliet. She is currently working on book six of her Progeny Series, book one of her upcoming Alterity Series, and several novella spin offs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write exclusively one day soon. Find and follow her online on Twitter . About The Progeny Series At its core, The Progeny Series is simply about a man and woman who fall in love. The fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. This series encompasses a family dynamic of which we’ve never seen.
The Rousseaus share a common mortal and immortal bloodline, but loyalty is the thread binding this vampire clan. Shauna and Ascher’s dissuaded love only strengthens the family bonds. Their unique union transcends bloodlines and completes the prophecy, defying the beliefs of centuries old covenants while shattering the wall between the Wiccan and vampire worlds that have existed for ages.
This series is erotic paranormal romance intended for adults and contains strong sexual content, adult sensuality, language and themes.

LIFE AFTER TAYLAH by Bella Jewel Release Blitz

LAT Banner
Title: Life After Taylah Author: Bella JewelRelease Date: May 26, 2014 goodreads-badge-add-plus-d700d4d3e3c0b346066731ac07b7fe47
BlurbMy mother's name is Taylah, and once, a very long time ago, she was my best friend - she was everything I wanted to be.

Until the night she disappeared.

Ten years on and my life, my families lives and the world around us has never been the same again.
How can it be when you are left not knowing?

No leads. No connections. Nothing. Just pure emptiness.

My dancing is the only way I can separate myself from the pain that lies in my home, in my father's eyes and in my brother's spirit. They need me and I'll fight with everything I am to be there for them, but who will be there for me?

Then I meet Nate.

Champion Motocross racer and everything my father doesn't want for me. He's forbidden, he's beautiful, and he's carrying a bundle of his own secrets.

When I step into his world, there is no turning back.

He will consume me.

He will teach me how to breathe again.

He will put a tiny piece of my broken heart, back together.

My Review:
Live After Taylah is a very emotional, fun and engrossing read that all fans of the genre can get lost with. A great series start and another goodie by Bella Jewel.

What's a woman to do when she's in a very unhappy place? A place she never asked to be in. It's love and loyalty, those two things are what put her there. So she's pretty much stuck!
What do you do when you desire something so badly, but you can't have it? Avery hurts so much, for so many reasons. She's a strong woman, determined to get life...right. But can she also have her hearts deepest desire while living life as it should be lived?

You're going to have to read the story to find out...

The plush terry cloth robe slipped from Ireland's shoulders with a whispering caress before pooling in a heap around her ankles. Marble tiles chilled her bare feet as she stepped into the walk-in shower. The tips of her fingers slid across stainless steel. With a flick of her wrist, the trio of showerheads flowed to life. Welcoming heat came at her from all angles, pulsating over her curves with a rhythmic seduction. Ireland turned, a groan escaping her as the streams massaged all the right places. Steam rose, fogging the handle and creating a cloud of humidity that hugged her frame. Tipping her head back, she let the droplets rain down on her face and across her closed lids. Her lips parted, welcoming the rush of warmth that flooded between them. Until it assaulted her tongue with a rush of coppery warmth that clamped her throat shut with a wretched heave. Her hands cupped to catch the droplets, her eyes widening as thick crimson pooled in her palms, seeping between her ivory fingers. Formerly white tiles were now smattered and smeared with blackish-red gore that sprayed from the nozzles. Ireland threw herself from the shower, her feet slipping beneath her. She reached out to steady herself, but found nothing to hold on to. Nothing there to pull her back from the brink, except her own need for self-preservation ナ and a shadowed silhouette in the corner. Instinctively, she covered herself with her arms. Squinting, she craned her neck to see the figure that was slowly turning to face her.
"Mason?" Her voice echoed around her before she could even speak it.
He stared straight ahead with fixed, unseeing eyes. Blood trailed down his face from various points of origin, soaking the front of his shirt. "Cloak of night, brings Horseman's plight. His pricy toll, will be a soul."
"Mason? Are you okay?"
A hard blink and his eyes found focus on her. A desperate panic flared his nostrils, forcing his breath to come fast and ragged. "Help me, you have to help me," he pleaded, his teeth pink with the blood that streamed past his lips.
Her trembling hand reached for him, then recoiled at her own inept state of confusion. "H-how? What do I do?"
"You have to save us," Mason's words became more garbled by the fresh rush of gore that bubbled up the back of his throat. His once handsome face contorted in rage. Leaning forward he balled his fists and screamed with a force that bulged the tendons of his neck, "Save us!"

Excerpt 2

"Tonight was meant to be the Harvest Ball," Katrina said as she slid between the folds of her crimson and taupe gown. "Now the town is meeting, trying to concoct a plan to stop a being that death itself couldn't tame."
Ichabod sat on the edge of the bed with his back, respectfully, to Katrina while she changed. His loaded musket lay across his lap. In the reflection of the window in front of him he could see the soft curve of her hips as they tapered into her narrow waist. He cleared his throat and shifted his gaze to the floor. His chin tipped to the side, ever so slightly, to ask, "Are you secure in our plan?"
"I am to attend the summit on the arm of Brom Van Brunt," she reaffirmed as she pulled her long, blonde locks out from the back of her gown and began tightening the laces of her bodice. "Then speak with as many people as I can, searching for anyone that may have motives leading to the Horseman."
Ichabod nodded. Mostly to himself, he muttered the remaining details they were depending upon, "Rip will be inside as well. That man can finesse a crowd with a skill that truly baffles. If there are secrets to be found, he will uncover them. Irv will be outside with me, primarily because the Horseman isn't the only one in this town that would like to see his head on a spike. We will be on horseback, patrolling the grounds with a few other men that have volunteered. You will have nothing to fear."
Her elegant gown in place, Katrina turned to Ichabod wearing an expression equal parts timidity and fear. "What of Brom?"
The bed squeaked as Ichabod shifted his weight to face her. "Boorish as his ways may be, he cares for you. If you adopt the guise that you have interest in him, he will do all he can to protect you inside the gathering, while I provide you the same service outside."
"And," her long lashes brushed the tops of her cheeks as she cast her gaze to the floor, "you aren't bothered by me being on his arm?"
In the midst of the plotting and planning, Ichabod had slipped into the role he knew well of military strategist. He had detached himself from the emotional aspects-until that very moment. The reality of his request sank in like a heavy stone. He had asked her to take another man's arm, asserting her place beside him. The implications of that dug into his gut like a dull blade, churning and twisting deep.
"The mere idea of that makes me ache," he stated, forcing the words through his suddenly parched throat. "Yet I would endure this hardship, and countless others, to keep you safe."
She moistened her lips with a flick of her tongue, seemingly wrestling with words that gave her pause. "Ichabod, when this is over ナ w-would you call yourself mine?"
Ichabod closed his eyes. The euphoria of that question washed over him, cleansing him of all his sins with the promise of tomorrow. Rising to his feet, he took her velvet soft hand in his. A love he hadn't known possible illuminated her striking face. "From the moment I saw you, my heart belonged to you alone. If by some miracle you were to give me your love in return, I would need nothing else to sustain me the rest of my days."
Katrina's palm tenderly brushed his cheek. "You have already claimed that."
Allowing no further hesitation, Ichabod gathered her in his arms. Katrina tipped her head back, the soft curves of her body molding to his. Full lips parted in an alluring invitation it would take a stronger man than him to resist.

EXCERPT:
“Well, you saved me from having to tell my roommate that I was stood up again.” Her eyes landed on my face. The tone in her innocent voice, made me want to teach her how to beg. She would love it, and besides, who cared if she hated it…at least I would be satisfied. “How does five o’clock tomorrow night sound,” she asked while scribbling down a phone number on a cocktail napkin. “I get off work a little after four, and then we could go have dinner.” She handed me the napkin, smiling doe-eyed.Inching closer, I took the napkin and wrapped a possessive hand around the nape of her neck. She flinched.“I’ll pick you up here.” I glanced up at the security locked doors to her apartment. Safe and sound. My hand squeezed tighter around her face. I gazed leisurely at Emily, while she stared wide-eyed and shocked. I so relished the helplessness slashing across her face. The grabbing of her neck was a slight mishap. Tenderly stroking my thumb up and down her flushed cheek, I blinked and plastered my ‘camera ready’ smile back on. “Great. Five it is.” I moved in and nuzzled her bare shoulder.     Her breath hitched.     I brushed my mouth just below her earlobe.     Her jaw muscles tensed.     I stroked my thumb down her neck.     Her head titled back.     When she gazed back up at me, we locked eyes, and then I kissed her. I’m not a kisser. Kissing is too intimate. I learned that lesson the hard way…but I kissed Emily. She moaned at the slight touch of my tongue.Blood pounded to my cock, and it felt so damn good. I licked her bottom lip and drew the swollen flesh between my teeth. Her mouth tasted warm and gentle, and the kiss was eating me alive. Kissing a woman could be more dangerous than a shot of heroine to my demented mind. Before I could get a handle on the situation, her hands were in my hair and her perk little titts were grinding against my chest—now, I was panicking.I’m usually the one in control. Not some goddamn woman. Fuck, get it together man. I pulled back, regretting allowing myself to give into temptation, and then I saw the stunned look on her pretty little face…the most satisfying sight I’d seen in years. “Tomorrow then.” Eyes on her the whole time, I gently dropped my hand from her face and took a single step back.

Climbing out is book 2 of the Hawk Motorcycle Club series and (awesomely) continued off right where book 1 left off (which I LOVE!) PLEASE make sure to read book 1 in the series before starting this one. Trust me, you'll appreciate it, the growth and characters much more if you do ;)

DeAnna has held on to a secret for a very long time. It's a secret that hurts and scares her, but feels she must keep to herself. She wants to tell her friends and new family members about it, but she's unsure if she's ready to share such a burden.
All of those thoughts change with the quickness once Griz and the others sense something is off, make that wrong, very freak'n wrong. Will she still have her friends after all is revealed?
I had just as much fun with this book as I did with the first of the series. I wonder where the author will go with the next of the series. So many possibilities...
